[Q] Help theming an application - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have been trying to theme the Kik Messenger app. I have gotten pretty far but I'm having some issues that have me stumped. I'll post screenshots to explain.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
For some reason the settings screen is a big giant mess.
1). What happened to the rest of this bar? I also want to change that entire bar to the color code 2e2e2e but I cannot find it for the life of me.
2 and 3). These white bits should not be here since I have changed every instance of android:background to black, Help please?
Second Image:
1). Once again, I want to change this topbar color but I cannot find it anywhere in the .xmls or in the drawable folders.
2). This is a big one. The only reason that this bottom bar is grey and not black is because when I make it black, I cannot see what I am typing because the text is also black. I cannot find where to change the input text color anywhere in any of the decompiled apk.
I really need someone who is good with themes to reach a hand out. I wanted to take this on myself but these last touches are driving me crazy since I am a perfectionist. Thanks for any help!

Image Location?

I was wondering.... after trying to edit about all the images in the contacts.apk i cannot find where the drop down/expanded background image for the call log is at? or maybe there is a seperate .xml edit needed to make it transparent.
the part I want to alter is in the red box, tryin to make it look like whats in the green box as far as the background transparency. this is the expanded contacts in the call log.
I have no idea where to look now.
would really appreciate your help .. thanks.

ok guys... I am still not having any luck with finding where this image is or if its an XML edit .. or both.
I have seen Themes here that have what I am looking for. So I know it can be done and someone has to know the answer.
I have messaged about all the themers here with absolutely no response from about 3/4 of them. The one did respond thought it was in the framework folder .. well I have edited about all the dark images and nothing. Unless i just completely missed it somehow....
I am really wanting to continue to move forward with this and maybe release it along with my other icons and transparent stuff .. but not in its current state as it is and lack of help with where stuff is from time to time.
IF ANYONE has ideas or knows where it is I would really appreciate it.

It's called either "quick_panel_notifications_bg.9" or "quick_panel_notifications_bg" and it is in the "drawable-hdpi folder" in the "twframwork apk"
I think its statusbarbackground01.9png.ill post if that's not it.at work and will check as soon as I get home .I just got into a bit of themeing myself. I know a little so just pm me and ill be happy to help if I can help
Status_bar_header_background_01.png
im sorry i didnt read the post correctly the first time so you can ignore the above.i make it transparent to get rid of it and im sure you can change the color by adjusting the hue and saturation in paint.net or adobe.if you use paint.net you can go to the bottom right and look for opacity or something close to that.that is the transparency adjustment if you didnt already know.its so easy just using winrar to move the images around.thats what ive found to be extremely easy.i definitly need to learn the correct way but that works for now.good luck my friend
I see the background image your talking about is already transparent. If you wanted to change it you can use the paint bucket and dump some on it then you'll be in a good position to manipulate the image to the way you want it

Inverted SMS

Loved inverted SMS on the Evo so I started googling and I ran into this. See post # 3. Root required and flash via recovery. Works great on my rooted ev3d.
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?1603-req-inverted-sense-3.0-sms&p=31038&viewfull=1#post31038
Now since sense 3 has square bubble chat style, those boxes remain white with black text but the entire background behind it is black and the bottom to enter text is also white with black text. Also turns the sms app icon in app drawer black. All messages list is black with white text. Sorry no screenshot app so I cant really post pics.
like it a lot. wish the app icon wasn't inverted though, stock icon with blue looked better. but still a thumbs up

Thanks for posting screen shots. Ya bummed bout the sms icon thing but not a huge deal.
Can this be moved in the theme section. Thank you.

[Q] MDPI to LDPI

I've found a neat Touchwiz launcher that is meant for mdpi and my device is ldpi.
I would like to convert it for my device but I'm not sure where exactly to start. I doubt it's just resizing the images so before wasting my time on doing that, because I tried out the launcher without touching anything inside the apk and the dock icons appeared fine except the shortcuts on the homescreen were overlapping a bit with the dock icons and when I went to drawer, the apps weren't centered but were at the top and there was free space on the bottom. I would like to get some more information on this procedure from a few people with experience.
I've got APK-Multi-Tool and I just decompiled the apk.
I went to \res\layout-mdpi\ and I've opened up the launcher.xml and by looking at the code I have a feeling that's the file I should be editing.
There are stuff like this:
Code:
android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="45.0dip"
Is this "45.0dip" thing in any way related to the screen density?
EDIT: Here are some screenies of what it appears like:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The problem on the second screenie doesn't really bother me much, the only problem there is the page indicator is at the bottom on the dock icons which sucks I would like it to be moved on top of them.
Anyone?

Teach-A-Baby(In Development)

Hey everyone, just want to share with all of you an app idea i am currently working in developing. I would love to hear some advice and what can be done to make it better.
The point of this app is kind of straight forward. It is to teach kids their ABC's, how to count, their colors and to include some lullabies as well.
Currently i dont have the images i need so for now in the image below i only have the color red and an A in the middle. The scree i swipeable so when you swipe it goes to the next letter and pronounces it automatically out loud. Each letter will have a different background, NOT A COLOR, for example A will have a background of an apple, B will be a Bear, C could be a Cat and so on...
As of now i dont know how the app will look in its final stage but this is what i got so far.
The app just started being developed, so far not much is done but updates as it goes on will be posted. Thanks
Here are some images in order of how they load. The main Page has a sliding drawer from the left side of the screen. This drawer is ugly and not finished at all yet.
