Once you flash the ROM, you have to REBOOT into Hboot and start FastBoot, not Recovery, then use the Fastboot commands, Only Fastboot mode recognizes Fastboot commands, Recovery does not.
Fastboot commands only work in "Fastboot", to get to it disconnect the USB cable from the PC and/or phone, pull the battery and reinsert, press and hold Power+Vol Down until the Bootloader starts, use the volume keys to select Fastboot and press Power, connect USB cable again, issue Fastboot command.

If you need reliable tether NOW, do multiple complete wipes of Everything,
then install the Carbon rom located here at xda in Rezound Original Android Development.
Will give you a rock solid phone with decent battery life too.
The Carbon installer should take care of your kernel install issues.

No offense, that doesn't help his problem, he isn't flashing the kernel correctly. Tether works just fine on Tachyon also.

Hey, thanks for the responses.. I figured out what the problem is though, it was the drivers.. I was using fastboot already it just wouldn't recognize the phone after i installed the rom for some reason. So it's on now, but I can't get it "activated" with verizon? I try dialing *228 and it just tells me immediately that it failed. Anybody had this issue before? I was thinking maybe of going to stock, activating, and then switching back..

You never dial *228 on a 4G phone, it can mess up the SIM. It should just work when you boot it up.

If you moved your number (and plan) to an OG Droid you changed it to a 3G plan, so to change it back to a 4G plan and reactivate the SIM, you have to call customer service and have you plan changed and your SIM reactivated.

I have never bricked it before, and I cannot go into download mode... I tried the the Vol up and vol down, didn't work, so I have been using ADB and just ****ed something up....
Now I need to know a way how I can revert back to stock, please and thank you, I will forever owe you one.
EDIT: Okay there is some confusion, to simplify it I will take it step by step:
I replaced an APK file from my system/apps and ever since it has been force closing process.android.acore, so I tried reflashing to stock, it froze while doing so now I have a picture of a caution sign, a phone and a computer coming up on my Vibrant, it will not start up.
It is hardware locked because I have never been able to access download mode via hardware keys(I have always been using ADB).
Is there any way I can reinstall stock? Or is my vibrant now destroyed?
what exactly were you doing when your phone stopped working? "just ****ed something up" makes it hard to pinpoint problems...
I don't know I replaced my phone.apk with another one then ever since then it keeps saying process.android.acore has stopped working. It wouldn't stop showing up so I tried to reflash with Odin to stock but it froze and now it is bricked.
bumping a little bit, I have never bricked it before so I have 0 experience.
What do you mean by froze? On what screen? How far can you get into booting?

Alright let me start over with more detail:
I tried to replace the dialer so I replaced the phone.apk and then process.android.acore kept force closing so then I tried reflashing with stock, during that I don't know what happened but I think my phone froze, so then it shut off and turned back on, I only found a screen with a computer on it... I am assuming it is bricked.... I also know it is hardware locked because I tried going into debug mode with vol up and vol down, how can I unbrick it?
Try moving the stock rom into the phones internal memory via adb. And flash it after a wipe.
I am Also having this same problem
I Flashed my Vibrant through Rom Manager to Froyo 2.2 from eugene373 and sombionix.
After flashing to both ROMS for Froyo I wanted to revert back to 2.1.
I tried to put sombionix 1.3 eclair ROM back on to my phone using clockwork mod.
The flash was not successful it stopped in the middle but the phone came on with a Force close error of an android process.
I tried to reboot through adb reboot recovery with usb debugging enabled.
The phone shut down like it would reboot into recovery mode and now it gets stuck on boot at the samsung vibrant screen.
I tried to use ODIN to flash back to the stock Rom but the phone is recognized in ODIN but will not flash.
ODIN sees the phone but will not get past flash analysis. (Sat for 8 Hours)
I believe this is the definition of bricked. Please Help!!!!!

Can you get the phone in download mode?
Did you try this:
Pull battery
hold the volume up and down
reinsert the battery whiles still holding down the volume up n down
plug in usb cord
it should put you back in to DL mode
Open ODIN and unplug phone from PC and plug back in hopefully it will notice it then.
I am not sure if you can get in DL mode and it just wont let you do anything, but if you have already tried this my apologies.

Well i installed pimp my rom and it made my phone unstable, so I decided to start from scratch and wiped my whole system, I then proceeded to install nocturnals rom and it installed fine, however I noticed that the phone was getting extremely hot. Well the rom finished installing and it was in the process of rebooting when it suddenly turned off. The phone was extremely hot to the touch. Then it started cooling and cooling and now its ice cold and I mean COLD. Ive tried turning it on normally and into bootloader mode but nothing happens... Im extremely worried, what happened to my beloved optimus g??? Any help would be greatly appreciated

You voided your warranty when you unlocked your bootloader. To file a claim now, knowing you are in violation of the warranty, is fraud. You would be contributing to the rising cost of smartphones. Please don't file a fraudulent warranty claim which will end up costing us all more money.
We all know the risks involved. If you weren't prepared to accept those risks, you never should have messed with your phone in the first place. Please don't make everyone else pay for your mistake.

Don't give up on it just yet. Maybe try opening up the case and disconnecting the battery. Not sure if that will work, but at this point, it can't hurt. If nothing else you can part it out on here or eBay. Used BL-T5 batteries are going for $40 on eBay for example.
I ran into this yesterday, it was due to a corrupt misc partition. just do this and you will be fine.
Restore the phone, it will stop at 85%
power off the device and hold volume down and power and do a factory reset.
restore the phone again and it will do 100% restore
after that copy misc.img to the sdcard
Now root the phone
after you have rooted download terminal emulator and open it
type su
grant SU permission
type
dd if=/sdcard/misc.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc
if you want to use adb do this
open adb and type "adb shell" with out the quotes
type su
grant permission
type
dd if=/sdcard/misc.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc
now you can unlock the bootloader and flash roms again.

ok yea i had that issue too. what you need to do is hold the power button so the phone is off, then have the USB plug ready and plugged in the PC. now this is the tricky part..
hold volume +/- at the same time and power then plug in the USB. you have to be quick. keep pushing till the DL mode pops up. if it dont work the first time keep trying. this worked for me lol

*OLD TUTORIAL*
Warning Just to let you know that this will Void your warranty you should already know that
Also this may look really long but its short just somewhat really specific
Hello Fellow Optimus L9 Users today I Bring you a tutorial on how to unlock bootloader the noob version for those who are new to rooting and stuff because there is another one that is more complicated and less specific but if you want to check it out heres
the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198114
Okay First to let you know that when you flash V20B_00.kdz the screen will get kind
of funky everything will be inverted and backwards so dont worry. And one more thing is
that when you boot up every single time after doing this the boot will be mirrored. Just
to let you know.
First Just want to thank "pinoyto" "Lelus" and "cmahendra"
Okay Now to Start Download the zip containing the files link here https://www.dropbox.com/s/uxwvkkp8yyyev0k/Bootloader Unlock .zip Files contained
in the zip are "Adb" "Recovery image" "V6.bin" and "V20_00.bin"
After youve downloaded extract the files to a folder for later use.
Now before we go to flash the V20.kdz enable "usb debugging"
Now go flash the kdz with this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36351786
1)Now after you've flashed then comes the screen problem just unlock and go throught the setup quickly
2) Connect your usb and make sure the usb debbuging icon pop-ups the little spider looking thing if thats enabled good
3) Okay next im not really sure if its needed but just do it change the usb
entrance to "LG Software Mode" to do this the simple way you need to disconnect usb and
connect again after than the options appear what type of usb entrance click on the back arrow
and it should select the "LG Software Mode"
4) Now we want to connect to the WiFi THIS IS NECESSARY FOR IT TO WORK go and connect to it
after that make sure you are connected by opening the browser or youtube and if a page or
video loads your set now go make yourself a coffee or some thing because now you have to wait
30 or more minutes
5) Ok now that the 30 minutes or more have passed you need to go to the downloaded files and move
the "Android" folder to your "C:\" drive "dont worry just has adb files" now open a command prompt and
type the following
"cd c:\Android"
"adb devices" to make sure your phone is connected a list of numbers should appear
"adb reboot oem-unlock" and your phone should then reboot
then the lg logo will appear then a mirrored confirmation to unlock bootloader just press
the "Volume Up" button and it will confirm it then hold the power button until it reboots
6) Now we need to go to "rooted 10g" again just go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
and follow every single instruction but when you are about to enter the flashing process instead
of "Emergency" mode you need to put it to "Diag" mode and then start the flashing process
7) After you are done with that you cant boot so you must perform a wipe and the way of doing that
is too have phone off hold "Power button + Volume Down + Home Button" then you should see
a android with the little globe and a loading bar after its done it will turn off then
now reboot and after it boot it will be mirrored you can fix that but in my opinion it is a little more confusing
because the screen is still messed up the whole left side is inverted with the right side but if you still want to remove the mirror
you must press the power button once to turn off screen then again to turn on and it will be fixed but the touch is still inverted
8) Now go through setup and enable usb debugging and then u need to go to the superuser app
and if you dont have it you did not do the root process correctly go to it again "and if you need help just pm me"
open the app and update the binary after that go to your computer and open command promt again
and enter the following commands but before you must put the v6.bin file to your external sd card it is in the downloaded files after you have put it to the root
of your external sd card enter the following commands
"cd c:\Android"
"adb shell"
"su" when you enter this go to your phone and accept the su request
"cat /sdcard/external_sd/v6.bin > /sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/firmware"
after you entered the last command you need to close that command promt and open
another one and type the following commands
"cd c:\Android"
"adb shell"
"su"
"reboot" then it will reboot and the touch will corectly work remember the mirrored problem will continue
to occur on your phone like i said just turn off screen then turn it on and it will be fixed
Now you have unlocked bootloader
If you want to install the cm10 rom the optimus L9 has as of right now you
have to do the following
1) Go to the app store and search for the app called "Nandroid Manager ROOT"
download the app and open it then go to flash recovery you must first put the recovery from the downloaded file to the
root of you external sd card and then go to the app and search for the recovery and flash it.
After you flash it you will have a recovery on your phone
(just to let you know it will be mirrored) but to boot to recovery you must turn off the phone
and then hold the "Volume UP + Home Button + Power Button"
now go download the cm10 rom from here " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216542 " put the file to the root of your sd card and then reboot to recovery and then to flash you will need to "wipe system, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache then flash" after you flash the zip reboot and you will have CM10 Hope This helped

No its never too late but there must be something you forgot to do or did incorrectly did you run "adb reboot oem-unlock" before connecting to wifi and waiting at least 30 min?

Just unlocked bootloader on my phone. Looks like having SIM card with data is a must. Tried all day yesterday on WiFi, never worked. Finally bought a SIM unlock code on eBay and used my StraightTalk SIM card. Reverted back v10G, set everything up (had to type APNs manually), turned WiFi off and verified that data works. Flashed v20B again, verified that WiFi is still off and data is on, waited for about half hour. Unlocked on the first try.
So whoever is having troubles, looks like you just need working SIM with data and WiFi it not really necessary.

I have straight talk tmobile sim with no apn setup and WiFi on for it to work for me.
I kept waiting 30 mins x3 because I had taken my sim and SD card out due to fear of damage. So I second that keep the sim in and WiFi on (made a guest ssid for one click connect).
@nevkuril do you have st att or tmo? If tmo, I know its late but the tmo sim works without the need for carrier unlock.

Possible but I wanted to unlock anyway, it's just too simple not to do that.
Basic Info:
HTC One phone purchased in Hong Kong through a relative, so no idea who the provider/brand it's RUU is under
Now running on T-Mobile network in Texas
Never had been tinkered with before (Rooting/Flash-ROM/etc.)
Never had issues with it aside from only getting 3G internet (had used 4G on previous phone, same plan)
This all started randomly earlier today when the phone was idling on the desk, I was going to check something but it won't respond. I didn't have any updates pending/installing and only had a game open. First idea was no power so I plugged it into the wall, but the charging light wasn't lit so I assumed a dead internal battery. After trying a few more times, it turned back on! But this time it gives me a black screen after the white screen with the HTC logo in the middle, and to further annoy me it keeps restarting and repeating this. I tried the Hboot screen via Power+DownVolume but none of the options worked.
I tried all the options:
Fastboot (Reboot + Reboot Hboot)
Recovery
Factory Reset
Nothing worked at all and I've already scanned the forums for something similar but nothing comes up. Someone please help me fix it, I need it for work and can't afford another day like this. T-Mobile guys were no help and Best Buy guys did no better. Thanks in advance for all the help!
Did you try cleaning up the cache. You can also try flashing the M7 1.29 ROM for TMobile.

I recently installed CyanogenMod with the Unlock Bootloader for noobs and I noticed the internal SD wasn't mounted. So I tried to flash an ICS ROM to see if it would work but it didn't. I was stuck at the boot screen. I tried restoring an ICS CWM backup and a JB backup but it didn't work. Currently, I have a flashed JB backup with a messed up touchscreen (because of the way I unlocked the boot-loader). It won't boot and I don't know how I can install the stock ROM. I really just want my phone to work at this point. I don't know if there's any way to use the offline method to flash a .kdz since I can't access android. I tried hard resetting, but when I do it starts up Clock Work Mod which I believe happens because of the way I unlocked boot-loader.
I'm trying to use this guide to fix it using SW upgrade. I did find a .bin and .fls which i'm downloading right now.
If anyone could help or give some advice that would be great. I really just want to use my phone, I don't care about flashing a custom ROM right now. As long as my phone works, I'll be happy.

Let me know if this works for you! Also you can do the offline fix just as long as you can get into S/W Upgrade mode. But I am curious to see if you can use the bin/fls files tool that you mentioned to get your phone working again.

Thanks for the reply! I'm planning on trying this method out tomorrow and ,if you don't mind, could you please elaborate on how I can do the offline fix with S/W Upgrade mode? I'll check back on the forum tomorrow!

Well just get your phone into S/W Upgrade mode and follow this tutorial. Getting into S/W Upgrade:
1. Get stock ROM here.
2. Turn off your phone
3. Press and hold the vol + button while inserting USB to computer
4. Keep holding the vol + until you see the S/W upgrade mode
5. Flash ROM with tutorial mentioned above.
Good Luck!

Isn't that just an infobank of all the KDZs? I'm pretty new, but can you flash a kdz with the offline method? To clarify, I was asking how to flash the kdz with the offline method in S/W upgrade mode. So ROMs/KDZs are essentially the same, right?
Edit: I read everything over again and realized what KDZs really are. I'm just wondering now if I could just hard reset in some other way because the LG Update Tool doesn't recognize my phone even though I see all the drivers. It's stuck at 15%.
Edit 2: I tried the method I suggested and it resulted with "Magic number does not concide".
So I'm stuck here with a phone that is stuck in bootloop, and has CWM installed. Can anyone help?

alright, this is all from memory but the offline flash didnt work as well for me when stuck in weird bootloops.
Step one-going back to online flash---->
A---
the easiest way i found was to go to C:/windows/system32/drivers/ect/hosts
right click>open with notepad
there should be two lines at the bottom
"127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
127.0.0.1 csmgdl.lgmobile.com"
i would cut them out and paste them in a text doc in the same folder for reference later...
but either way you should remove them from the hosts file and save
B----
Make sure your small server is closed! once you minimize it it should go down to your status bar (shttps)
Step two-LGMS---->
make sure you have LG mobile support installed or install it.
open lg mobile support
install needed drivers for your phone
power your phone off/remove the battery
put battery back in
connect it to your computer holding down the volume up button
S/W UPDATE mode should pop up, if it doesn't preform and hardreset and try again til it works (it will)
then in the top right corner there should be a button or two click them both until you see
"restore update" or Update restore or something to that effect
select that
and let it ride man
i got my phone ****ed many times and just had to keep redoing this until it worked. if your bootloader is truely unlocked you can probably go through all that again and get CM10 working, i did but im still working through kinks.....
GOOD LUCK feel free to ask any more Q's about this process if you run into any problems

Hello! Sorry for the late reply. Before I start, do you mean LG Mobile Support form when I unlocked the boot-loader, if not could you provide a link to it? And by the way, when I tried hard resetting, the phone sent me back to CWM, any ideas why?
I was reading the CM10.2 notes yesterday and I realized there isn't supposed to be an internal SD card showing up when you plug in your phone to your PC. So I did tried fixing what wasn't broke.
Anyway, thanks for the info!

Such a late reply, sorry! I did nothing. Before you replied I flashed CM10.2 but never bothered to boot up my phone. Preparing to connect my phone to my comp, I couldn't start CWM so I figured " I'll just leave my phone plugged in for a few hours." Two hours later, my phone has a blank screen, i'm thinking "This shouldn't be blank? What the hell?." I pressed the power button and was greeted with Cid. I screamed out loud: "**** yeah!"
If people have the same problem as me all I did was: Reflash my my phone with 10.1, stock, 10.1 again, and then 10.2. I did that, only that.
What's funny is that I never checked to see if my phone was working after I flashed CM10.2. :silly:
Can't wait for Kit-Kat. Thank you for keeping up with my post, CROSSFREEZE I appreciate it!
Edit: I might submit a really specific and simplified version of the "Unlock Bootloader for Noobs P769" for the take of contributing.
