code *#0011# and *#197328640# don't work
Have you tried 2G Toggle?
Try with Secret Codes Revealer.

What do you mean by disabling hsdpa? do you want to use only 3g speeds or you want to use only 2g networks?
for 2g networks, you can find the option to do this in settings, more, mobile networks, "use only 2g networks"
I want to use only 3G = up to 384 Kbps (360 Kbps in practice).
2G EDGE = 250 Kbps (150 Kbps in practice).
3G is optimal saving battery / network speed

hey,
Sorry new to this,
i recently bought a touch 3g, and the guy said it would work on my network. the phone supports by the spec sheet ;
HSDPA/WCDMA:
900/2100 MHz
Up to 384 kbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
(Band frequency and data speed are operator dependent.)
the frequency i need is
850/2100 mhz wcdma
Is there a way to flash the rom or to run this?
Cheers
Well, it should work indeed. If you go to the Settings tab, "click" on All Settings, Personal, then open the "Phone" icon, you should see a Band tab which should let you select your network type: GSM, WCDMA or Auto. If it's not on Auto, then set it to Auto. Do the same for the GSM/UMTS band drop-menu.
hey thanks,
however there is a network tab which has "find network"
which comes back with cannot find network.
then a network selection tab that only has manual or automatic. manual select network gives me the networks worldwide which should work so i select 50501 Australia+505 nextG+01 it searches and comes up with can't find settings for network contact network operator.
Ive rang telstra and to no suprise they were less than knowledgeable on the situation than i am.
From what I've read, it's possible to to disable the high speed connection and leave only EDGE and other slow connection by change network mode to GSM only. However when I tried that on mine, I lost all connections altogether include voice call, and left with "unregistered sim, emergency call only". My carrier is CDMA, so not sure if that has anything with it.
What am I missing here?
Hspa 3g only on gsm system.
For cdma you have 1x and evdo..don't know if you can disable evdo or not. Please see setting/wireless & networks

3g is useless and so slow i can't be bothered using it.
can i do this? remove the option for the phone to use 3g/2g and only connect to hsdpa or whatever?
When you have data enabled it idles at the 3g setting, once you start surfing or downloading it switches to hsdpa. So no you can't disable 3g and only use hsdpa.
at times it desn't go to hsdpa and only stick on 3g when i browse meaning i can't browse
i'd rather just make it hspda or nothing
So stupid. You will get HSDPA depending on your coverage. Not every area allows you to use HSDPA..
Does anybody know how to turn off HSDPA but leave 3G enabled in this device? I used to have a samsung galaxy mini with this option of selection band and saves battery sooooo far
go to
settings>wireless&networksettings>Mobile Networks
depending on your ROM you will get Use Only 2G networks and Use Only 3G networks

thanks but this isn't exactly what I'm looking for. Is an option that allows you to enable only UMTS and not HSDPA. You could use 3G but without the "H" icon, which means less speed, but more battery life because the device is not switching between UMTS and HSDPA constantly. I know that there's an option to switch only to GPRS, but that's not what I mean... thanks anyway!
Hmmm. When I enable '2g only' I can still use EDGE networks and so forth, it only seems to disable HSDPA - which is how I want it. What do you get when you disable 2g then?

He's talking about UTMS which is one step ahead of EDGE and one step short of HSDPA. I don't believe that there is any way to disable HSDPA only, however like the post above says, you can disable UTMS & HSDPA under settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>Use 2g networks only.
Hi there,
i have a question related to internet speed
In setting there is 3 options for choosing internet data
- 2G only
- 3G only
- automatic
in my countries 2G is horribly slow
When i access to internet i change to ''3G only'' but the signals i receive can be 3G or H, i only want ''H'' signal not 3G because 3G is still slow for normal surfing!!!
how can i change to ''H'' only?
I have been watching for my 3G/H icon in CM7 and it seems Atrix uses 3G only for standby (maybe 3G mode drains less energy), when data starts to transfer it automatically switches to HSDPA mode. So you don't need to change it to HSDPA manually

Your phone should jump to HSPA if it is available, or else it will use UTMS.
Flash the latest radio. After that I can switch networks as I want.
You can not just change to H. Speed depends of coverage in your area. Phone will use the best and fastest available speed/network. You can force 3G but then with just 2G coverage your phone will be off line.

That's right. I can use just edge and it works just fine. 3g is not the best in my area. You cannot force H. Correct.
Depending on your Rom, when it says 3g, it will be because you're not using data at the time. Then when you're using data it switches to H. I say depending on Rom because for example, I'm running Alien, and it says H all the time.
