[Q] Uninstall Apps Using ADB. - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I am trying to get rid of that annoying My T-Mobile app and was wondering if there are specific instructions on how I can do that using the ADB taking into account I know very little about this stuff. I don't want to root the phone just to remove one troublesome app.

U need root.. thats the only way..

... well, that is disappointing. I am on the Jump program and they said that if I root it then they will charge me the full cost and I don't want to pay that much money for what is one of the biggest piece of **** phones in the world.

The best way to protect your phone is just don't install any weird looking apps from Market
Yea I use lookout too. They give you free 30 days for premium coverage. Try it out.

You can try those security programs but my experience has been that they slow down the phone, but the best thing you can do is use common sense, look at what permissions the app is asking for before you download it, dont allow su access to anything unless you are confident it wont harm your phone.
Droidwall .
look out is pretty good though....i find its the best one out there

I will let you know that there is not a lot of love around here for adfree (at least there weren't in the Hero forums. This is how devs make their money and eliminating them is akin to you taking something the devs gifted you for free and slapping them in the face with it.
That said, I don't know the answer to your question since (as you can tell from the previous paragraph) I have never used it.
U made me feel bad that's true .

Had it with my Droid x and didn't slow it down any. Personaly ads should never have been aloud. It ruins the whole experience. I'm all for having a mobile experience adfree. If devs don't like people blocking ads make free version limited vs full with ads. Otherwise deal with it.
I'll add I'm not a cheap skate. I've got many paid apps. It's just I REALLY hate Ads. I don't install any games with ads except fly dragon. To good to pass up.

I think adfree only edits your hosts file; so, as long as adfree isn't running it won't slow down the phone.
After you have add free up and running you can kill the app via app mamger. Also add free shouldn't effect the speed of your phone. Keep an eye on the apps that are running.

Describing root?

How do "you" discribe root to your non-tech savy friends? I am looking for fun ways to explain the basics without having people fall asleep on me.

I describe root like this: Root gives you full access to your phone's features that are otherwise locked out by the carriers or manufacturers. If they seem interested, I then go into details of the features and benefits like a salesman (my retail background from my college days I guess). I talk about backing up data, etc.
Non root: Standard user on computer
Root: Administrator user on computer
Easiest way to explain for me.
See how my phone's faster than yours even though yours has higher specs? That's 'cos I've got root!
The Roots are a hip hop, soul band who are well known for their eclectic approach to music including a touch of jazz. They have collaborated on many occations with different vocalists (personal favorite being the cover of Hard Times done with John legend). They are currently acting as the house band for Jimmy Kimmel's late night show.
Well done drachen! Tip of the hat for you sir!

How about this one: The extra freedom you get with rooted vs unrooted is equivalent to the extra freedom of Android vs iPhone.

(Q) Need help with device replacement?

Hey guys. So I was in my school weight room and I was doing my curls when I dropped my SGP 5. Didn't realize it because of my music. So when I finished my set, I happened to acidentally drop a 45 pound dumbbell on the screen. As you would guess, it didn't end well. So right now it has a massive dent in the top left corner and glass is coming off. The screen (miraculously) still works and it still connects to my computer. I need to know how I can bring it into best buy without them noticing its rooted. I already have it on default ROM and kernel but it still has superuser and terminal. I literally have no money so a new device isnt an option. Any help?
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
there shoud be an unroot option under superuser.
btw, having terminal doesnt mean yr rooted.
B sure to make a nandroid.
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda app-developers app
If unrooting through superuser doesn't work, try the unoot feature in superoneclick.
Sent from my YP-G1 using xda app-developers app
Thanks guys. I ended up having a friend fix it. Though I found out that my best buy no longer has the SGP's anymore. Would I be able to get an nexus 7 with my warranty due to them not having a replacement and similar prices? I remember having something like that for my headphones.
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda app-developers app
I don't know about that. But you say your Best Buy does not sell the player anymore? Weird. Although you might be able to buy it at Toys R Us (yep they sell the player there too).

Locket swipe in and cash out.

So I was just looking on YouTube for ways to make money on my phone and found this little nifty app. It's called locket and basically it replaces your lock screen and every time you unlock your phone it pays you. 01$ yeah I know what your thinking that's going to take forever to add up. Well I have been using a similar program on my old phone that I don't use anymore and I have made over 100$ with it. So just wanted to shout this app out if you want to make money just for unlocking your phone like you usually would through out the day this might be worth trying.
