Jeally Bean upgrade for SII in Panama - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For me, a Android fan from Panama, it has been frustrating, to try and try and try to find an answer to upgrade my Galaxy SII, without any lucky. I was trying since the Jeally Bean was released but here in Panama, nobody knows a... nothing. Nor even Cable and Wireless or Samsung.
I just want to know, How or Where or Who can tell me how to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 I9100UHLPG to the last or available version of Jeally Bean. Please someone give me an answer.
This is my email, [email protected]

Sammobile's your friends when it comes to stock firmware

Checkout the link, you'll probably need to sign up to download the firmware though...

What happened if I can't see my device baseband version on the list of Sammobile site?

Just look what device you are having like i9100 or i9100g or i9100m and choose your desired device in option and download the lastest firmware of that device.
Flash it from Odin. Simple
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can you give me the link with an easy step-by-step to flash my device with ODIN?
I am less than newbie with ODIN, flashing device or using CyanogenMod (someone told me about that too)
So my main concern is to root or flash my device and, damage my device.
So with all your honesty and sincerity, which one is more secure and easy to use, ODIN or CyanogenMod?
thanks a lot
BTW, I am downloading the last firmware for my device I9100
It is a zip file so I suppose to must have a ODIN to installed on my device but, before do that, I need your answer for my above concern.

Thread stickied near the top of Q&A has a guide to flashing with Odin.

Can't find it
Try but without luck
I already download 2 zip file, backup my personal data
But:
1. Can not find a easy user guide for ODIN
2. Can not find the last version of ODIN or, the version I must use
Any help
Thanks for my stupid question, I know for most of you, could be as easy as using internet, all this thing of flashing devices, rooting devices, Odin, etc.

Here's the thread u 'cant find':
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365701
I suggest you read it thoroughly first, ask any doubts u may have, then start flashing.
As for Odin, u can use any version mate. All versions are available here on XDA. Just search for it.

[Q] i9100G - Root + CM10 install help. Firmware confusion!!

Hello People,
Let me begin by stating that I am very very new to Android rooting and custom roms (actually, this is my first time ).
I have a SGS2 i9100G. I have attached the screenshot of my phone software details. I have searched on the internet and XDA but am unable to find or maybe understand how to root my device and install CyanogenMod 10 (JB 4.1). Whenever I reach a post which seems like the way to root my device, it talks about firmwares and modems which are different than what my phone has.
I would be very very greatful if someone can sort this for me and provide some links and steps on how can I successfully root my phone and install CM10 (JB 4.1). Thanks a lot already as I know people will start replying in no time.
Cheers !!
This link might be usefull to you:

But pay attention to what kind of kernel you flash, because you have ICS, and I haven't checked if the links in the thread are maybe for Gingerbread.
About flashing CM10: just follow the flashing guides on xda, and make sure you download the file for I9100G.

Hey buddy,
Thanks for the reply. I checked the link but it does not says anywhere about which firmware or android version I should be. As the latest update is from March, 2012, I am assuming that this is for Gingerbread with old kernels. I don't feel good about flashing this. Do we have anything specifically for my kernel/firmware?
Thanks for your reply again. Hoping you will lead me to the right path.

I'm don't really follow the I9100G-threads as I myself have an I9100, so for rooted ICS-kernels you can flash through Odin you have to look for yourself (or someone else might know this)...
And what about flashing the official GB-rom with Odin, then root it with the link I send you, and then upgrade by flashing a custom rom..?

Hmmm...your advice about downgrading to GB and flashing rooted ICS seems to be a good way to go. But I am very new to flashing and I am not sure if I will be able to go through everything without bricking my phone. Thanks anyways.
Good luck with it anyway man:thumbup:

Am guessing u want to know how to root ur phone, right?
And as for ur questions:
1. Which CF root to choose for JPKF3?
2. How to flash 4.1.2?
3. Can u change from GB to ICS?
Right?
If that's the case, please tell us if u want GB, ICS or JB 4.1.2?
To flash 4.1.2, or to update GB to ICS, download a stock firmware from sammobile.com and flash it using Odin.

Get Mobile odin from play store. If you want that app to root your device while flashing it, get the pro version.
Visit sammobile.com for 4.1.2 ROMs or the official jelly bean thread sticked in the general forum.

Need help in updating GT-i9100 2.3.5 to 4.1.2 !

Grettings everyone,
As the title says I want to update my Galaxy S2 i9100 via ODIN which is currently running on Gingerbread 2.3.5 to Jelly bean 4.1.2 officially.
As I'm a kind of person who dont want to mess up my device with rooting or mostly dont care about rooting.
I'm on complete stock Gingerbead 2.3.5 with no root apply.
The problem is that I cant update my GT-I9100 via KIES or via OTA (Over The Air).
Here are the basic which info. which I can provide,
"Model No. (GT-I9100)
Android version (2.3.5)
Baseband version (I9100XXKI4)
Kernel Version (2.6.35.7-I9100JPKj2-CL655700 root @dell143 #2
Build No. GINGERBREAD.JPKJ2
and here is the error which KIES shows.
"Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies.
* Current firmware version DA:KJ2/ PHONE:KI4/ CSC:KID(XXX)"
Sorry for my bad English and also if I am posting this on a wrong section.
And I also can anyone also tell me the procedure whether to check my phone is locked or not to just make sure everything go perfect during the update process.
Thanks In Advance !
This has already been covered many times mate! Please use search before posting.
Simply download the appropriate firmware for ur region/carrier (if any) from sammobile.com. Extract it and flash it using Odin. Then do a factory reset.

Just 1 more thing is it safe to download any of the jelly bean 4.1.2 of any country? For example India, Pakistan and update it via odin?
Yes it's safe (altough you should back EFS folder up first).

[Q] bvke2 original kernel

Does anybody have a link to secure ans insecure I9100 BVKE2 kernel. I have tried lots of google links but they have all been removed or lead you to spam pages like Ilivid. any help greatly appreciated. Or is there an original kernel I can use that will allow me to use Kias to update from 2.3.3? Sorry for the stupid question, I am ready and waiting for the sarky answers but all genuine answers are very welcome.

Yes I got this phone off someone as my S3 is broken and it has been rooted with the unstable kernel. it won't let me put a custom recovery on it, it comes up with can't access to "sysytem/csc/ora/system" which leads me to believe there is an issue and with my very very novice knowledge have decided t unroot and go back to standard to upgrade from Gingerbread.
All you need to do is download the preferred firmware from sammobile.com, androidfirmwares.net or samsung-updates.net, and flash it via odin.

[Q] Upgrading to stock rom

Ok guys here's the deal, last year I rooted my friend's s3 (international, india, i9300) because there was no available update to android, so I flashed purelook HD 8.0 (android version 4.1.2), now he is saying that his phone has become very slow so he wants to go back to stock
so I downloaded "INU-I9300XWUGML4-20140107141249.zip" but after downloading this I saw that it is for android 4.3 (new official update).
So my question is should I directly flash this in ODIN (android 4.3) or I should download older official update before flashing new update?
If it's a full, multi part stock rom then it wouldn't be a zip. Odin can't flash zips.
Suggest you read the basics in general forum, sticky threads, before you do anything else.

yeah I know odin doesn't flash zip's, I quoted the file name just for reference as there were two firmwares updates available for india, one INS another INU on doing some searches I came to know that they are locked and unlocked updates, kinda same, you can download any one.
is there any number I should match before downloading...we do not have contract phones in india, just retail so I was confused therefore I downloaded the unlocked one
back to the point, I know that I have to extract it first, there is a file inside it, named "I9300XWUGML4_I9300ODDGML4_I9300DDUGMK1_HOME.tar.md5"
so maybe now you can help me out, whether should I flash it or download an earlier version and flash it prior to flashing this one...
So my question is should I directly flash this in ODIN (android 4.3) or I should download older official update before flashing new update?
Its your choice but as said read and understand the basics first .

Well I know how to flash roms/firmwares via ODIN, I know I have to check my counter too if it is not zero than I will have to reset it
so is there anything else?
I'm just asking this because I don't know much about s3 but I had note and I remember it had some issues regarding upgrading to a ice-cream sandwich version, something related to 'safe kernel' many other things...
and even I tried searching for basics, I didn't find anything else other than this and if there is something I am still missing then please kindly link me to it or just answer the question, IS IT SAFE or not?
