Love the phone. I'd say 9.2/10

what is the advantages of g2 over s4?
Percent? Phone gets a 90% for overall greatness. Loses the 10%for directly lying about the camera lens!

Problem solved
Hard to say. I loved my G2 for the first few days:
- Unitl the touchscreen became unpredictable, making it impossible to reliably pick from lists, scroll, enter text, or even pull down the notification shade.
- Until I found out that ths touchscreen issue is far-reaching, affecting many G2 users, and so far LG has not recognized this as an issue
- Until I had to exchange my G2 - not an easy process via WireFly.com
I have another on the way. If this second one does not have this issue, I'll rate my G2 experience a 9/10. If I can enter text, scroll, pick, otherwise "USE" my phone, it'll be a great thing.
If it also exhibits this touchscreen issue, I'll rate it a 0/10 and I'll return it for another phone.
If you had to rate my satisfaction as of this moment, I'd have to say 5/10, as it could go either way.
want: unlocked bootloader, and kitkat.
bad: speaker placement. I know the IPhone and proably some other phones have speakers on the bottom like the LG G2. well it turns out tha thats the most stupid place to put the speaker. In landscape mode its pretty hard to hold it in a way to not cover the speaker entirely. but i guess, i am just holding it wrong.
I've never ever saw or heard anyone on Iphone complain about that. (they are used to holding it wrong i guess)
Very satisfied... The nav buttons can be a little annoying at times but the G2 Xposed app helps.
Sent from my LG-D801 using xda app-developers app
I'm satisfied with it, meaning that it meets my expectations plus a little. The G2 has some cool things about it for sure. The big battery, back buttons, knock on-off, the UI is good, and latest processor. I wish it had temp and humidity sensors though, the speaker and nav buttons in a different place, and a SD Card slot. The camera on mine is great as long as I'm in bright light, but indoors I have a hard time getting a good picture. I do like the display but I have to keep the brightness cranked way up to appreciate it which burns a lot of juice. If I keep the brightness down around 50 to 60% it's pretty bland looking.
I happen to like the S4's display and camera better than the G2 but that's just personal preference. The temp and humidity sensors come in handy at work and that's probably why I end up carrying the S4 more often than the G2.
I am very happy with the G2. Battery is fantastic and i love the interface. I came from an HTC One and this phone is a beast compared to that. Does lose 5% b/c of no sd card slot but i can use my HTC one as my music player now!
9/10 Just because I never give a 10. There are quirks with every phone. Overall very satisfied.

Overall great phone and I have few complaints.
I wish the phone had:
MicroSD
2nd Sim Slot
Camera Mute
Flat Screen (I don't like how screen protectors can't cover all the class because of the phone's curved edges)

Everyone who sees the phone loves the build quality and the screen, especially iphone users. They also love the animation when the screen turns off. I think some people are definitely considering it after seeing mine!

The build quality is really amazing...feels like a solid hunk of glass.
Agreed.
My roommate got the SG3 a few days before I got my LGOG.
I don't think she got enough hands-on time with this phone in the store and is regretting her purchase.
Yeah. Build quality is indeed great. Except for the flimsy and cheap feeling power and volume buttons. I have the ATT version. I don't know if other versions have better quality buttons.
This is probably the highest quality phone I've ever had. It really does have a solid feel and even though it feels heftier, its thinner than my sgs2

If I remember correctly, I think the Sprint version has a bit of a classier look.
http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/LG-Optimus-G-AT-T---Sprint-Review_id3154
If you scroll down a bit you can see a pop-up comparison of the two.
The buttons are nice, but really slim so I feel we have a bit of an advantage as an AT&T customer.
Not to mention the AT&T's version design is just beautiful. Prefer it over Sprint's any day.
All three versions are beautiful imo. No expandable storage and sparse LTE makes the Sprint version a no buy for me.
I have the AT&T version and tbh I'm a little jealous of the Sprint one. It's a little thinner but taller which is what I would prefer. But other than that one little nitpick I love this phone.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
But the Sprint version doesn't have the power button notification light does it? Also, I am in an area that requires an Airrave to get Sprint service (less than .5MB) and getting 10MB down in same spot. It took me a bit to find battery % in settings/battery saver then down at the bottom although I am happy to have it

The Sprint version has a front light led by the ear pieces rather than a power button light.

Do Sprint users have the same infrequent LED problem or is that just AT&T? The LED by the power button is nice and all...but problem is I rarely see it unless I'm looking for it.

By normal do you mean every 30 seconds? Because that is the flash rate of the LED light. I have the Sprint version and it bothers the heck out of me.
Sent from my super fast Optimus G!!!
Yeah that seems to be LG's "normal" flashing rate, haha. Not sure who came up with that idea.
That LED interval is really annoying.
I love the look of the LED on the power button... but it is a little out of the way. I feel like it was treated like the ugly step-child that has to stay out of sight when company is over...
That coupled with the flash rate almost guarantee that I don't notice a notification.
I'm used to being able to change the flash frequency with CM and Miui.
My old phone was set to like 3 seconds. Haha. Just had to glance over and had a really strong idea if I had a notification or not.
Oh well, the phone is still solid and sexy as anything.
Blows my old phone out of the water every other way.
(On a side note, anybody know if the LED can do other colors? I really liked having a aqua/cyan colored LED.)

Just curious what everyone thinks about their galaxy note 2? Anything you really like about it, really don't like about it? I just got it && i love it! Touchwiz isnt that bad to me. May try aosp but i dont know yet.
I'll never go aosp on this phone due to the superior features of touchwiz. Multi Window alone is worth keeping touchwiz for.
Sent from my Note II using Tapatalk 2
I agree with Mac. There are too many features in touch wiz that I wouldn't want to loss by going to AOSP. multiwindow and s note are things I have integrated into my normal day.
That said, I still think this phone on touch wiz is better than my old galaxy S3 on AOSP. The battery life alone was worth the upgrade.

I absolutely love this phone. I came from the droid x2 so any current phone would be a large upgrade but to come to this phone is mind blowing. It's like I went from a dumb phone to a smart phone. The only thing that I found that's an issue is the heat sometimes.
I came from the Droid Charge...the difference is almost indescribable. I have pretty much stopped looking at battery life. I get a day and a half regardless of how much I use it. In a word..fantastic.

I love *almost* everything about it, I just wish it was LCD. I hate AMOLED, and that fact alone almost made me get a DNA. I'm glad I got this one instead, and the screen tuning in Perseus makes the screen look much better, but I admit that I still have some concerns over the longevity of RGB-stripe AMOLED. We'll see in time. I don't usually keep a phone more than a year anyway, so I'll probably have a new phone before any long term problems crop up.
I'm happy with the note 2 (with cleanrom); I woudln't mind it being a bit narrower and thinner and having an external sd slot (like the razr) and hdmi out (I know it has mhl) but otherwise it is fine and dandy. I would not have purchased it if the bootloader had not been broken as I really dislike verizon 'enhancements' to the device (if you call breaking things an enhancement).
-
Kind of wish the blue one was available when I made the purchase but otherwise white is fine and dandy.

I just got mine yesterday, came from a Galaxy Nexus. I absolutely love it. The bigger screen is awesome. And the battery life is SO SO SO much better. The GNex would drop 70% in my pocket while at school, and I could never get more than 2 hours of screen on time. Whereas with this, on one charge, I'm at 4 hours of screen on time, I've flashed 3 ROMs, and did an hour and a half of driving with bluetooth audio playing music, and my phone just hit 5%. Plus, the GNex was starting to feel slow and choppy, and this is the exact opposite.
Only thing it is missing is the blacked out screen and on screen buttons from the galaxy nexus. Great phone!

THIS!
Running my mind ragged whether I should get the S4, the HTC One or the Moto X (or Droid Maxxx) (I know I know, camera. I know.)
What I was wondering was, since the S4 is Super AMOLED, does it have the ability to incorporate the active display that the Moto X has or is Super AMOLED a totally different beast?
Ehh it can.. But it doesn't have the Motos low power chip to handle the notifications and pulse the screen, so any 3rd party app you install to do it, will kill your battery.

Agreed, I do like the s4 more than I figured I would tho, signal reception is just as good as the razr hd it replaced, (was worried as every sammy I had before had horrible reception), Battery life really isnt bad and I regularly get 24 hrs with normal use, the screen is absolutely beautiful, performance is great, and the camera just blows the razr hd's away. I miss being unlocked sometimes, but I thought id be returning this and ended up keeping it.
I live in a rear apartment. Reception I believe will always btw horrible bit o believe that build can decrease reception, rendering awful reception non-existent, so I think that may be my number one priority. I have two kids and I love the S3 camera... maybe I'll get the S4 and put a GE Rom on.

It hasn't mattered to me that much since usually when I get to flashing roms on a phone it's because the stock rom is god awful slow, but this phone is so fast it doesn't bother me. I can imagine a nice rom on this runs pretty sweet though.

I think the hardware is solid... so any software lumped on to pilot it will do well. I tend to like the uncluttered look and feel of the stock camera. I am going by today to check out the s4 again. If the X is really out one the 29th, it would give me one day to make a decision in order to take advantage of the $50 + $10 off coupons.

I still think we are not going to see "great" night video/picture on any phone for a while yet. We could be two three years away from that imo.
The only way that will happen is if you get a big enough sensor that bulges out of the phone. Like in the case of Nokia builds.

The f2.4 lens can only get so much light. The low light video was sweet in my one, but that's an f2 lens.
The g2 has decent video, but not being able to lock focus and exposure is a really downer. The continuous autofocus kills the videos
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk 2
Both video show a brightly lid night scene but blurry, probably the result of low shutter speed and wide open apertures. If there is some way for people to manually set the shutter speed and aperture or make it less aggressive while taking the video, I am sure everyone will be happy.
Trying lower the brightness setting while taking the of the video might help with higher shutter speed and better focus.
The video that shows the drive through Bangkok's road I am impressed by the stabilisation though. =)

There really isn't a better word to describe it. I've had all the best phones ever made and this one puts all of them to shame. Sure the camera and speaker aren't anything special but this screen and smooth performance helps you forgive that very quickly. It's indeed amazing :good:
Yeah, I usually take my Nexus 4 to work with me, since I'm too busy to actually use my phone at work and so it would be pointless to carry around the XZU, so I frequently have 3-4 day stretches in which I don't use the XZU. Whenever I switch back for school or off days, it's kind of like turning it on for the first time again. The change is so nice.

Congrats. I plan on getting the Z Ultra later this month along with the Sony power case. It'll be replacing my ancient Xperia x10a, and while it will be monsterous in my shirt pocket, it will be glorious to use.
I'll also be picking up a new VAIO Flip 13" model to replace my old Sony Tablet S. Between that and the Z Ultra, my mobile experience should be amazing!
The Z1 got the "Smartphone of the year" award and the Tablet Z got "Tablet of the year" award in Norway yesterday, so Sony is doing something right!

After using it for 3 days, i can say that i have my money well spent.
Pros:
1. Dat screeeeeenn..
2. Wifi range is superb, can go to second floor (where the wifi is on the first) whereas with my previous devices they can't detect it.
3. With its large body, surprising that it still fits into my chest pocket
4. Battery Life is good, even though not as strong as my previous razr maxx but that is expected
5. Can't wait to take a break with KitKat!
Cons:
1. Camera overprocessing.
2. No easy root method for now.. but i have migrated from Titanium Backup into Helium app so no biggie.. Only no mod for me now
O yeah i have some tips for battery life:
1. Don't install google aosp camera with gallery. It will take media scanning twice and preventing Stamina Mode to work
2. Turn off Google+ auto backup, or only allow it to upload while charging
3. Better to full drain the phone once and then charge it while it's off. But after that, please trickle charge it before it reach 50%
4. Don't use the phone while charging. Better to disconnect and then continue after you're done.

This phone is amazing. Just like many of you, I have used a lot of flagship androids - but this baby is special. Phenomenal display, smooth performance, no more messing around with pinch zoom and much less scrolling. Camera could have been better, but you'll get over it in no time. I'll eat my pride and share my darkest secret - I don't finally miss my 'buttery smooth' iphone 3G from 2008

It's not as bad as you think but it is better to not do so. Because if you use it while charging, the high temperature will degrade battery faster. So unless you know that your usage is low and not heavy, better to disconnect it and charge again after the device is cool again.

BatteryUniversity says so. It's like running while eating, or fueling your car while you're racing. Not applicable for jet fighter unfortunately lol but you got the idea.. but to some extent, i agree that light usage will not cause harm into your battery (much).

He asked if it's BAD to use the phone when it's charging, and let's be honest, it's not like you'll kill your battery within a week if you do it. Are you playing Vice City for 5 hours while charging? THAT might be bad in the long run. Checking the weather and FB a couple of times every hour? Not gonna matter.

Sure the camera and speaker aren't anything special but this screen and smooth performance helps you forgive that very quickly. Sent from my C6806 using xda app-developers app

Actually, there is a simple fix to improve and increase speaker volume.
I use the XZ1 Volume boost, it works wonders.
- Increased internal - external speaker
- Increased headphone volume
- Increased volume call speaker

Ps. You need to be rooted. Simply use CWM to flash the mod. Simple.
