[Q] Roaming - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Is there anything I can do to force my phone to roam data on another network besides Sprint?

PRL 11115 back to LTE

If I update my PRL to Sprint's 11115 PRL (using this method), I assume that I will lose LTE access (which I don't have anyway).
Under that assumption, if I want to regain LTE, all I would have to do it update the PRL over the air (back to 25004), correct?
I go on trips to Atlanta sometimes and would like LTE when I go, but 3G roaming sounds too good to pass up.
Thanks
Prl has nothing to do with 4g
Only 3g

So the PRL only keeps track of CDMA cells, not LTE cells?
i answered and u asked the same question again
yup nothing to do with LTE

I asked because this post about updating the PRL notes that

I wasn't trying to be difficult. I just wanted to understand. Technology is fascinating. How does the phone keep track of LTE cells? Is there a separate list like a PRL or does it search on specific, Sprint-assigned frequencies and just connect when it sees them?

no data when roaming?

i dont seem to get any data when i'm on roaming with this phone? its fine when i had the evo 3d and evo 4g, but now when i'm in an area with bad reception, it goes to roaming and i get no data at all. im on stock rooted, latest PRL.

Change the roaming settings to allow data while roaming. Settings/Mobile Network/Domestic Data needs to be checked. I believe it's off by default.

I always thought it was rather asinine that they have it set to off by default. I mean Sprint's unlimited everything plan includes unlimited roaming so what purpose is there for it being off.

They leave it off for a reason, and thats because there is no true unlimited roaming(voice or data) you might want to read the fine print.
I could be wrong, but I don't think it's necessarily Sprint that sets those defaults for roaming. I think that's default for Android just to cover all bases and networks.
I say this because imported roms from other decices/networks to my og evo always had that checked too (htc desire imports come to mind). Not to mention the notification says 'MAY incur significant charges' or something like that. Another ubiquitous statement.

(Solved)Ruu and re-provision?

I'm stuck in a pickle where my phone won't roam anymore unless i go in to do some manual switching on things. From what I'm told the fixe is to ruu and re-provision to fix it. Of course though nobody is elaborating on exactly what the re-provisioning is? Anybody hook me up?
I'm s-on and unlocked

It's either activate device in the settings menu or call Sprint to have them re-add the phone to their system, basically start fresh from the networks perspective.

Ok so I'm having this same issue. I cannot get my phone to roam with data! I used the 11115 prl for a while and after the radio update I haven't been able to get my phone to roam correctly! I've done a full reset, reprovision, etc.... Nothing seems to be working! Help!

i heard this too but their website still has metroflash even if i can go to them is it possible
easiest way to pay someone to add the MEID/ESN to their network for you, then tool around in QPST to program the settings and PRL you'll need to be on their network.
You won't get LTE/4G without a SIM, I'm not sure if that's even possible for non-Metro phones. Should be though...
I had someone flash mine to metro and I don't know how they did it, but I'm assuming he changed the MEID/ESN... Anyways, here are my 3G speeds in Sacramento

4G LTE issues

I have a question about my 4G issue. The only time i can get 4G is when I select 4G only in the command settings, but then i don't have voice services. Is there a fix or a know issue about this issue im having? This happens with any rom i flash.:crying:

4G on the EVO is garbage. My S4 is picking up 4G in areas my EVO never has and with great speeds in areas the EVO had picked up 4G. Not sure about your issue though. Update PRL and Profile?

Weird thing that I have noticed is,
I have perfect LTE (25MBps up) when I run Stock Android 4.2. CyanogeMod 10.1
Any Sense Rom I run it has no LTE. When I select CDMA/LTE it won't connect to Data at all. When I select CDMA it will connect to 3G.
I hate it and have never found a fix for it. So I am stuck on 10.1 with not a lot of updates. Which is fine, but I like to switch back to Sense everyone once in a while and when I do I am forced to use only 3G.

i know that's what I have heard as well. My phone is weird, but it runs perfectly on stock Android so I can't complain too much!
Mine connects to 4g lte without issue as long as I'm running meanbean or stock with goodies. On several other rom's I had problems connecting. Not sure why.

No, if I remember correctly you're picking up sprint lte, it just thinks it's verizon or whatever carrier you're roaming on.
Also, OP, have you tried switching to another phone, then switching back? I know that sounds weird but my brother was having data issues on his virgin mobile phone and that's how he fixed the issue lol

No. Your 2G network which controls voice is roaming. However your phone has an established 4G network connection. Sort of like being on wifi and roaming. Your calls go through the 2G network while the data is being handled by your wifi/4G. Those signal bars are strictly for your 2G connection. 3G and 4G have their own connection which is not viewable unless you dig into ## settings from dial pad. Sprint don't have any 4G roaming agreements with any other carrier.
