get.cm CyanogenMod Installer HELP - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I'm stuck and not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
When accessing get.cm they introduced met to the CM installer, installed it and downloaded the app on my GT-I9300 running CM10.2 M1 snapshot, changed the USB debugging settings and put USB in camera mode (like the app told me to do), but Windows 7x64 does not recognise the new driver and I cant seem to find one working. I have installed Kies and googled 7 sorts of goo out of it but nothing.
Now I cant check for new CM releases or download anything to test, please help the noob 8D.
Regards
FlyingNinja

U can download Ubuntu live cd and use it to flash roms or download the rom directly to your device (if you've already got cwm).

Everything I've read says you need to get rid of Kies from your system before doing any third party flashing since it can interfere. There is a file posted numberous places around here called Samsung Drivers or something like that which will install your drivers without Kies. I think alternatively you can install Kies, hook up your device in the mode you will be using, make sure drivers are installed, then remove Kies without selecting the remove drivers option and this will accomplish the same thing.

Galaxy S2 Driver Issues

Hello,
I have searched everywhere but I can not find a solution to my problem.
A few weeks ago I was able to connect my phone to my computer and Eclipse without issue. All the drivers worked even without Kies ever being installed.
Then I installed Cyanogenmod for my Galaxy S2. Here is the guide I followed.
After that my computer would not recognize any drivers. I uninstalled all drivers related to my phone, I even installed Kies. My computer still won't recognize any drivers.
Please help.
Have you tried the USB Driver for Windows from the Android SDK?
http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Thanks, I tried it but it didn't help. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers in SDK Manager. I updated SDK Manager and that didn't help either. Nothing seems to work. Kies still will not successfully install the drivers either, even if I use "Run as Administrator"
same 4 me i tried on 2 pc still nothing
Could someone please help. I use my phone for development.
If Cyanogenmod does not work with Eclipse and the Android SDK it should at least be confirmed.
Same problem here: after installation of Cyanogen PC wont recognise Galaxy S2 (even after re-installing drivers/kies; using a different PC; etc.).
I am not blaming anyone here, just wondering whether there is a solution.
Would it help to flash back to stock ROM for instance?
Ok..I have checked xda, but not cyanogen forum. The reason is a differently built Rom, not based on standard Samsung rom. I would post a link, but can't as new user. So flashing back or taking a rom based on Samsung would help.
Thanks for posting Sokarius. I am glad to hear I am not the only one with this problem.
I may back up my phone and give MIUI a try to see if that works. Other wise I may have to revert back to the stock firmware. I will be testing it more over the Holidays.
I can't believe I couldn't find this before. You're post hinted that a Google driver may be needed since CM uses the Google source.
Turns out CM has had a tutorial all along.
I followed it and everything is working now. Eclipse works great. My SGS2 is emulating again.

[Q] USB Mounting

Hi,
My Samsung Galaxy Gio (S5660) is unable to connect to any computer (already tried on 4, all with kies, other cables, etc). It always says unrecognized device, even on downloading mode. It is on stock gingerbread, but it was on CM 7.2, i remember i flashed a ext4formatter.zip on the procedure, does it has anything to do with?
Any ideas?

Do you have USB Debugging enabled? Also allow Unknown resources?
Yes, already tried with them on or off, nothing seems to be working..

Did you check to make sure the drivers are installed?
TEAM MiK

Yes, I even reinstalled them via Kies, and even installed Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones, etc..
Try Unistalling, then reinstalling the drivers.
TEAM MiK

Anything related to software (PC) was already done. As I said, tried on 4 computers, all with the same error. Kies and drivers already full uninstalled/installed. XP/Seven.
In my opinion it seems to be about the phone. Even when trying to install a official update from samsung the installation fails with a 0x80010093 error code.
Doesn't ext4/rts have nothing to do with this?
Regards
I would try flashing a different Rom. See if the issue persists.

The thing is that for flashing the roms provided here is by ODiN, and as I cant connect it, I cant flash it
Flashed CM7.2 via CMW and still no sucess. Tried to mount USB Storage on CWM and the same happens...
Same problem here, on my SGS1 I9000.
I tried every solution found on this forum but nothing worked.
If you find a way to work, write it please
Well till it gets resolved you can try using Wireless adb. There are also several Wireless file transfer apps. When I get home I'll link a few

Well here's a few for you. I've used these so I know they work. There are more I'm sure. Links are below . First one is Wireless ADB.

Still no ideas how to solve this?
Wireless abd works for data transfer, but for a rom flashing it doesn't

Kies won't recognise a phone with custom ROM...one possible way is to connect your phone to pc using stock firmware, allow drivers to be downloaded then flash the custom ROM again...my SGA running a custom ROM is able to connect to pc cause drivers were downloaded before this...
Another alternative is to enable windows update and allow it to auto-download the drivers...provided your internet connection is on...hope this helps...

The things is:
My Kies didnt recognize my phone with the stock rom.
My Odin didnt recognize my phone with the stock rom. (download mode - non related to the rom).
My Windows Explorer didnt recognize my phone with the stock rom.
So i've tried to install a custom rom as it could (it shouldnt) be a rom issue.
And the same as I've written happens.
Owh...stock GB is supposed to be in .rfs format...not .ext4...the zip must have reformatted it...

[Q] Samsung galaxy s2 GT-i9100 return to stock errors

Phone status and information:
Model number: GT-i9100; Android 4.0.3; Baseband version i9100XXLPW; Kernel version 3.0.15 [email protected] #k3-20; Build number IML74K.XXLPW
So the problems I have.
It all started when i decided that I want to return the phone to a full stock condition, as I have just bought it (not rooted, hacked etc.)
Checking a few videos on youtube I got the Idea and recommended files youtube(dot)com / watch?v=bz9gw-ZRbY4
When I entered the download mode I have encountered a problem, the PC doesn't recognize the phone when it is in Download mode. I have tried downloading drivers and changing USB ports + the cable is brand new. When ever the mobile device isn't in download mode it is recognized and I am able to transfer and review files that are on my phone.
So here I'm looking for help at you guys. How do I fix this issue and do I have the right video to follow?
Please, keep in mind I'm a Novice (I don't understand many terms and abbreviations).
If any of you would like to look in to my problem I'd be grateful.

So as you said I checked the thread it was not new to me. I have the drivers already, but I just installed them again and still there is no connection in download mode. As I said, if the device is not in download mode I can do what ever I want, but once it enters the download mode ... poof (like there is nothing connected to the PC). I had all the others steps completed too, but yet it doesn't work. When I change the USB port windows says "Failed to install" - Gadget Serial.
I had Kies air connected once and in my PC processes there is no Kies of any kind. Even before I enter the download mode I used App Killer to shut down all apps at least for a moment.
Right now My phone is in download mode and this is the status:
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-i9100
Custom binary download: YES (1 counts)
Current Binary: Custom
And this is its state every time when it's in download mode.
I had a similar problem but when i wanted to flash it said failed to install or something like that in odin, but then i just changed my USB port to other one and it worked, so i think that the USB i was using was getting impulses of electrisity and turned of at a time so the odin couldn't connect to a phone so he just gave an error (correct me if im wrong).
So for your problem i think you should delete the previous drivers you installed and every driver you installed for your phone and don't delete anything else just your phone drivers. Here: Uninstall Guide
or Here:Uninstall Guide
After the uninstall reboot your PC and install drivers from here, and look for your bit version of your windows (32bit, 64bit) Drivers For windows
And the reboot again, then try and report back here.
Hope it helps!
Cheers

Does your computer not show it in device manager or does it not show up under Kies?
Had same issue here had to put SD in different phone to put new ROM on it.

This is a couple days old.
However For future reference...
Aosp roms sometimes require the vanilla drivers not the ones for the I717.
Just install the android sdk (WHICH SHOULD BE A STEP DONE BEFORE EVER TOUCHING YOUR PHONE) the drivers are within.
Then when you plug in it should read it as an android debugging device. And a mass storage device.

[Q] Root when phone is not detected

Hello everyone, I could not find a good title for my issue but I will try to explain as well as I can. I own a GT-I9300 (International), but since last official Samsung's firmware update(Jelly Bean 4.3) I am not able to get my phone recognized by my computer. Phone is connected and it charges, but neither Windows or Ubuntu recognizes it as a portable device. I am concerned about UMS is not available on device, but my phone it does not even get detected! I also own a Galaxy SII (4.1.2) and it does get detected by my PC. I think that flashing a custom ROM could solve the problem, since it appeared when I updated official firmware, but the thing is that I cannot root my phone! Tried ODIN but since my phone does not get detected, ODIN does not do its job. I also tried rooting with framaroot and towelroot, but no success: first one says "Failed , try another exploit" but there is only one. And the last one says my phone is not currently supported, even if I change modstrings.
So here is my question: how do I root my phone? I don't know what else I could try. I have already reinstalled Kies and Samsung USB drivers but still not working. Also hard-resetted but no luck.
Hope you guys can help me out because this is really getting on my nerves
Thanks in advance!

The thing is that my phone is the only one that do not get detected every single time I connect it. I have already connected one GT-I9100 and GT-S6790L and both get detected. I already tried on 3 different Virtual Machines with Windows XP, Ubuntu, Windows 8.1 but no luck.
As I said in the first post, I think it's a firmware problem since it appeared when I did the official update, which was this one:
Model GT-I9300
Model name GALAXY S III
Country Argentina
Version Android 4.3
Build date Wed, 05 Nov 2014 20:33:08 +0000

I can see your frustration Now a few things technically it is a misconception that you need root to flash a custom rom you can actually flash a custom recovery with Odin full wipe and then flash a custom rom from custom recovery (only thing is you will lose all your data because you need root to back up your data)
Now I know the above statement is not very helpful because as you said Odin doesn't detect it (but I thought I would mention it anyway )
The reason framaroot and towelroot, didn't work is because at the moment the only way to root S3 is with Odin.:crying:
You may have tried this but I will mention it anyway first uninstal Kies and all Samsung drivers from your computer ( kies can interfere with Odin) Then try installing these drivers here >> http://developer.samsung.com/techni...Lhp1GqlWRy92Q60CX6PP1mF!80806326?v=T000000117 << If you have tried this then sorry.
Also when you connect the phone go to Device manager in Windows and try to look for your device ( it may say unkown device) it should have a warning triangle right click on it select update driver software and then select browse from my computer and point to the drivers that you have downloaded see if that works.
Another thing to note is if you are using Windows 8 you need to disable Driver signature in start up options ( Google it) for Windows to recognize the drivers.

I already tried uninstalling Kies and Samsung drivers. Also I tried looking for device on Device Manager but it does not appear when I plugin my S3, but it does appear when I connect other devices like S2 or Galaxy Fame Lite. They appear as portable devices.
I'm using Windows 7 on my PC and have already tried with different OS over Virtual Machines and still doesn't work.
And thanks for that note, didn't know there was possible to flash a Custom Recovery without root, but I can't since ODIN doesn't detect device :crying:
Then it looks like you are running out of options I would use another computer not Virtual Machines
Okay I'll give it a try but as I said before, looks like an firmware issue, not computer's. Why would my computer detects two another Samsung devices but not mine (which used to work until last update)
Me, too!
I'm having a similar problem. Last week my GS3 stopped working, and I bought another one from Ebay with a cracked screen and swapped out motherboards. The phone seems to work as well as a stock Verizon phone on Jellybean would, but I can't get my Linux, Win 8, or Win XP computers to even recognize that it's attached. Different cables, each and every one of the USB ports, not even a blip. Device Manager in Windows doesn't even see it, and yes I got the developer options unlocked and have enabled USB debugging.
I've got the Samsung drivers installed, and tried to install the CWM device drivers from the SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 TOOLKIT V9, but there was an error and that didn't work, either.
USB connection issues are usually due to Windows conflicts, driver problems or the lead itself. If all these have been excluded then you have either a firmware issue in the bootloader, which is very uncommon, or a hardware problem. The usb port is easily worn/damaged/dirty also the motherboard might be the cause.
There is no silver bullet to cure, test each possible thoroughly.

I'm 100 percent sure that it is not due a Windows issue, I have already test every option. I have not considered the usb port to be damaged or worn, which could be possible but phone charges every time I connect it to computer. It just does not get detected as a device. But in order to assume it is a motherboard issue I will have to put away my feeling that the problem is caused by last OTA official update, since this problem started there.
If it is a firmware update issue, is it any option to flash another ROM?

As I said on previous posts, I have already installed and reinstalled Samsung USB drivers and made a factory reset -one from config. option and another one from Android stock recovery 3e (since I cannot install any advanced recovery -or even root it- to flash a custom rom). Doing those factory reset did not downgrade my last firmware update (when all my problems started).
I also said on previous posts that I tried towelroot and framaroot with no success. As tallman43 says, seems like international version of S3 does not support those kind of one-click to root apps.
-----------------------------------------------------
So far the only options available (if my theory about latest firmware update is the problematic one) are:
● downgrade firmware: [Q] How? Odin is not working since my phone does not get detected;
● root my phone in order to install an advanced recovery and flash a new ROM: [Q] Any way of rooting phone without computer (apart from towelroot or framaroot because I have tried and do not work for me)? I read one XDA post from 2 years ago to root S3 via console apk but latest comments assumes that method stopped working.
● install an advanced recovery without odin or root: [Q] How?
● fix USB firmware issue: [Q] I have completely no idea how to do it. (Already played with *#7284# and *#0808# but did not get my phone detected)
Please I need help, this is really irritating me and I am running out of ideas

I guess I have found out what the problem was. It was not firmware (as I thought). It was the micro USB port (as boomboomer said) which seems to not be firmly attached to the PCB. AC charging just seems to work okay, but not USB connections. I managed to figure it out by forcing the USB in a specific position to get it detected for 5 seconds, but then it disappeared.
Yeah, it was not as complex as I thought! I will try to replace that micro USB port as soon as possible, thanks everyone for your help!
