I just want to know if my Galaxy S3 will work with T-Mobile, because next month I will go to NY, Orlando and Miami. I want to buy a T-Mobile sim and use it on a prepaid plan. I'm Brazilian and my S3 is the international version, GT-I9300. It will work well? Will I use 3G data normally? Thanks.

Yes, as long as you are buying the SIM in the US, it will work just fine.

I am really itching to get this phone, as my contract is going to be done within weeks. I know that the EU version wont support tmobile 4g. How about the Canadian version??? the bell/ virgin galaxy s II 4g. Would this version work tmo usa??
Check the bands. Google it. If they're the same then it will work. AT&T's 4G network will work with European and Canada's will also I believe.

that's the problem, I am new to this stuff and willing to learn. Let's start with what BAND is, and how do I check that BAND.
I am not 100% sure. But I believe that it well not work on T-Mobile USA 4G network. It uses different frequencies. If the SGS II ever comes out on Rogers then it will work on T-Mobile USA.

You are right. And once the merger goes through the T-Mobile 3 and 4g phones wont work on 3 or 4g. This was already stated by att and tmobile

By that time the Galaxy S III will come out lol. But I will definitely love the HSPA+ speeds on my SGS II.
If you really want it either:
1) Switch to AT&T, you will get 4G speeds
2) Wait for the Samsung Hercules to come out on T-Mobile (Should be this or next month)
In the end, all people who buy T-Mobile phones now will eventually suffer later on. ;D
I know that it couldn't 5 months ago,but I don't know if it works today...
And if the international version doesn't work on Tmobile 3g and 4g, how about the Tmobile version of Galaxy S2(T989)?

Unfortunately it still doesn't work now and for the unforeseeable future it wont ever work.
Luckily the tmobile sgs2 does work on tmobiles network.
nope i got mine in europe and the antenna hardware acquires different frequency than the one in the US. Just google search "T-mobile frequency"
I thought there was a version from asia that had a aws band. And are any of you using the europe one on T-Mobile? If so how are slow is 2g?

ok!I give up buying the international version since I live in The US......
So,how about ATT version(i777)?does it work on Tmobile 3g and 4g?
It's just because ATT version is cheaper, and so is Tmobile's plan.

Dude,
It works very well! I have the AT&T Note... I unlocked it ($25 on ebay, I prefer this method as the seller has a reputation to protect). I then had it rooted, then flashed over to T-Mobile (http://rootgalaxynote.com/).
I did a test on the $30 - 1,500 minute plan (only 30 megs of data) to see how it works. I did this before flashing the modem and the 2G/Edge doesn't work well at all for the Note. However, after flashing the modem, it screams on TMO's 4G.
Good luck to you, but flash it and don't look back!

But just as a heads up, the exynos chip in the international version is not LTE equipped. So, if you get the international model it won't work on Tmobile's 4g bands even if you flash/hack/pray to the cell gods or anything else to your phone.

I'm not totally sure but, I believe if you get the international it will work on tmobile's hspa+. You shouldn't have to get the AT&T version if you just want to use the phone on tmobile and, are ok without LTE. Hspa+ is still very fast.

T-Mobile doesn't even have LTE so it doesn't make a difference.
The AT&T Note is the only one that works with T-Mobile 4G which again, is not LTE.
Also, no the international version does NOT get T-Mobile hspa +.
The international version ONLY gets EDGE on T-Mobile.

Here is my issue. I am currently in the US. I might teach ESL overseas in Korea in January. I am not sure which phone to get. Will the USA one work over in Korea? Will thew international one work in the US?
It could work but Sprint has the radios locked.
Would developers be able to get them unlocked?
Buy international set

They propably can but the intl one supports more radio frequensies and is assembled to work worldwide so I'd buy it in any case rather than us version.

The international one works in the US flawless... just not on all carriers... it works the best on AT&T if you want to use it in the US and get 4G(HSPA+)
You can use it on T-Mobile but you will have to settle for EDGE(2G)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
It would work on most carriers which uses the international frequencies.
Not just AT&T for US. Works with Rogers, Fido, Telus, and Bell Mobility in Canada for instance.

Just a side note, HSPA+ is not 4G. It's still 3G. LTE/WiMax is 4G.
so which companies will it work with 4g/lte? Will it not work with Sprint? Anyone know any deals for the international version?
Sprint (and Verizon) is on an old CDMA network while the majority of the world is on GSM, you know, operating with a SIM card. If you're set on travelling, it's better to get any of the GSM-variant, that way, you can just pop in any sim card from any major carriers all over the world.
I currently have a photon which has a sim card slot in it. So the Galaxy s international wont work on Sprint? Damn I want to keep my SERO plan lol. So where can I get an international verison from? Also would I have to pay full price for it?
Does the photon has an active sim card in it? I'm assuming no. I've never used a dual-mode phone before (nor am I familiar with how they operate on different networks), so I dont know the ins-and-outs on how to get it activate for a GSM carrier.
Damn, now i have a headache just trying to figure out how it works to have an intl GSM phone on a network that is predominantly CDMA whom happens to offer a dual-mode phone on their network
Call sprint problem solved

The SIM in the Photon is just for roaming. Sprint does not use SIM cards - even their LTE phones have them embedded rather than user-accessible.
As the Sprint Galaxy S III is not a 'global' phone - i.e. does not have both GSM/UMTS and CDMA radios - do not purchase it if you have any intention of using it outside the US. CDMA is no longer a global technology.
Confuses me a little that people spend so much on devices without checking what networks they support. Ho-hum.

Hi all,
Earlier during my stay in USA I always had to settle with Tmobile since they have many visitor friendly plans. But I just used to get Edge on my galaxy S on Tmobile.
Didnt try ATT since their plans weren't great.
Will that situation improve with S3 I9300 ?
Can Att or Tmobile, any one of those give me H.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
the GS3 is not pentaband.. therefore you will only get 3G/4G AKA HSPA+ on ATT.. not t-mobile.. you will only get EDGE (2G) on T-Mobile
Just use Straight Talk - get a Straight Talk SIM for use in the US and whenever you come over activate service - $45/mo unlimited
Getting H+ on AT&T here in NYC.

You'll get H+ on AT&T and depending on where in the US you could get up to H with T-Mobile as T-Mobile has acquired some of AT&T's AWS spectrum.
Thanks guys for your inputs.
Much appreciated
