I am missing some necessary function on the dialer and I want to install the official samsung dialer.
I have tried to do this by regular installing and by copying the APK into System/app and nothing is working.
How can I do this?
~~~
Sorry about the spelling errors, I do not speak perfect English
You cannot do that because it needs Samsung framework to work,i assume you want the video call function? It cannot be used on AOSP. As cyanogenmod devs said, if you want the samsung apps, these roms are not for you, try a stock custom firmware
no, I am missing the speed dial (hold a number for shortcut),
Dial using letters (Samsung's dialer was possible start typing the name of the contact and the dialer would suggest the number of the contact)
Do you know any other dialer that have these function?
Hmm,i never used this app but i've heard about it, you can try it if you want: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.contapps.android.dialer
Hi, got a little question..
just want to know if you can use standard apps from 2.2.1 (like camera, and messages)
to include then in 2.1 rom?
like take the libcameraservice.so etc. and the apk from /system/app and replace them with
the ones from a 2.2.1 ROM
could it work?
thx
Not sure it will.. Often the camera is annoying at this point.. Why don't just flash a 2.2-rom? Then you will be able to use more of the "new" android functions as the push-messages/chrome-to-phone things?
Dear all,
I thought that the voice dialer (com.android.voicedialer) would be included in any Android 2.2 phones, but it seems not to be present on the Optimus One. Does anybody know why?
I tried using the one from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780687) but it has 2 major problems.
1) It crashes when trying to make a phone call. Maybe this is because I did not put it to the root directory.
2) More important, it requires manual confirmation of what the program understood. As far as I read, there should be another android voice dialer available that would just repeat what it understood and let you confirm it via voice. Does anybody know where I can find the APK for that more advanced dialer?
Is com.android.voicedialer included in LGs Android 2.3.3?
the com.android.voicedialer is the process name not the apk,
look for voicedialer.apk (because thats the name of it)
also you shall not use that apk, as its for a htc and they often wont work on our device, its not either simple install u need to set permissions also
Also it comes with almost all of our ROMs and works fine...
I tried to call com.android.voicedialer from an own app and it was not successful until I installed voicedialer.apk by myself. Furthermore, I cannot find voicedialer.apk on /system/app on the phone.
Can anybody confirm that it is really in the 2.2 LG rom for the OO?
As said no way Samsung To Samsung CM to CM AOSP to AOSP stock bits only .
Might have a look at the custom roms with what you want or look at the market place for apps that look like what you want .Also themes section to see if any modified apps .
Best way to test is replace apk in system/apps in the actual rom and flash .
Hello everyone,
I'm new on the forum, i just started using my i9100 with custom ROMs, i tried CM10 once but i didn't like it so i went back to stock JB.
Now when i saw that KitKat was available i just said "why don't i give it a try", so i installed omniROM 4.4.2. So far so good, but what i really miss from the stock samsung ROM is the peak/off-peak schedule for default email application.
I use my corporate email account with the default email app (company policy), but in omniROM there is no schedule option like in the latest stock rom for my phone.
So i thought, well lets look for another stock rom for a samsung phone that has 4.4.2 and take the Email.apk and move it to mine. So i downloaded the stock S4 ROM 4.4.2 and i see that there is no Email.apk but SecEmail.apk, i tried to use that file but it doesn't work (copied on recovery mode), i know that i'm doing it right because i tried before with other versions trying to fix that exchange "cannot connect" bug of kitkat.
So my question is this: is there a way to get "peak/off-peak schedule" feature? where i can get the Email.apk that will do that? or what is different with that secEmail.apk that it doesn't work?
Thanks, and sorry if someone asked this before, i searched everywere but didn't find an answer, i don't know why people doesn't ask "where that feature go? or how can i get it back in non stock roms", i find it one of the most useful features, in fact the first time i went back to stock from CM10, that was the reason why.
I tried this (installed via CWM on CM11), no luck.I found SecEmail.apk and SecExchange.apk in /system/app but Email do not appear in app tray. Should I remove standard CM Email.apk and Exchange2.apk ?
y#eah thre are many apps on playstore for email try them
^+1....the above is good advice, there are loads of email apps on playstore......
But as for installing the stock email app on a CM rom.....it ain't ever gonna work.......
This is because the stock email app is a 'system' app, and sysrem apps need the touchwiz framework to function. This framework is (obviously) excluded from CM roms........
My wife says I'm a phone geek....She's probably right
Indeed but not so many that correctly works in corporate environment (M$ Exchange). In fact Samsung did quite good job extending his Email.apk with some features that others miss like:
- S/MIME support
- setup of Exchange auto responder (server side)
- folders browser
etc.
BTW can you advice one with such features ?
@bhavstech
so, your first answer gave me point worth to check ...
I recommend installing Titanium Backup Pro >> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupPro&hl=en << what this app cannot do isn't worth knowing about Seriously it is a safe way to freeze/delete your system apps also convert normal apps to system apps and 100s of other uses.You can freeze apps from your system same as uninstalling but with the added benefit of not messing your system up and also keeping the app.Also you can convert Quickpic to a system app or whatever app you want to convert.
Have you tried going to Settings>Apps>All,Gallary (you need to unfreeze first) and tap Clear Defaults then choose Quickpick as your default.(Then refreeze) If this doesn't help, then it might not be possible to change that default .
I made a Xposed module that fixes that on S5. You may want to try it on your device. If it doesn't work, I can check it to see if it's possible to support it as well. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-samsung-camera-gallery-fix-t2988640
