Does anyone know how to root the Acer Iconia B1 tablet. Is it too early for a root?
I already tried the bin4ry method but it doesn't work.
Thanks in advance

Yup same here, tried it didn't work.
Guess we will just have to wait till the device becomes more popular.
Incase anyone is wondering, its a pretty good device for the price. Seems to be running unmodified Jelly Bean and performance is quite snappy.
any update on this?
It would be great if there were someone that would develop a rom for this. I just ordered one
I would appreciate it, if there would soon be a way for root or to install a custom rom!
The bin4ry method doesn't even detect the device without some initial work.
When the device is plugged in, Windows detects the MTP drivers but not the MT65XX drivers which I believe is needed for Android ADB.
You can download the MT65XX drivers from the link below
http://www.mediafire.com/?bqab7ewrdkbaaqi
After installing these drivers the Bin4ry root will detect the device but it will get stuck in one of the steps.
Maybe a newer version of Bin4ry will work or someone can figure out how to get it to work.
No longer need this driver, just read "New Acer Drivers" post below
Instructions for installing MT65XX drivers
1. Download USB drivers for MT65xx
2. Set device on USB debugging mode.
3. Connect to PC using USB 2.0
4. After PC fails to find driver go to device manager ->Find MT65XX device ->Right click ->Update driver ->Browse for driver ->Now there are two ways to install:
1. ''Search for a driver in this location'' ->Browse to the driver location and press next. If this fails try the next method.
2. ''Let me pick from a list....'' ->Select ''let me pick from a list...'' ->Click on "have disk" ->Browse to driver folder and choose 'android_winusb.inf' -> From the list pick 'Android composite ADB interface' and click install.
5. After successful driver installation you should see 'Android composite ADB interface' in device manager.
New Acer Drivers
Acer recently released the ADB drivers for this tablet. So there no need to use the MT65xx drivers anymore.
In one of my tries the bin4ry method actually proceeded to completion but with multiple permission denied errors.
So still no root.
You can download the acer drivers from their website.

How many tries did it take for it to proceed to completion? If it passes to the reboot stage, you should at least have a root shell in "adb shell" after the reboot unless the vulnerability has been patched.
Bad news
Code:
Package com.android.settings is system level with no agent
The bin4ry exploit has been patched. Fastboot and SP Flash tool doesn't seem to work without some kind of authentication. So unless the flashing utilities are leaked from Acer or a new exploit has been identified, we won't be able to root this for the time being.

Hello,
I hope someone can help me with my Bluebo B3000 (MTK6575 processor) of which I disabled the Android 4.0 software. What happened is that I tried to root the phone with the help of Gonzalox post in this thread and with the MTKdroidTools program. I didn't succeed. I tried to root the phone after returning it to the factory settings, but I still didn't succeed. And I believe it is then that I made my big mistake. I decided to use a universal rooting program, namely Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18. This program has two options (normal and special) for rooting. I tried both, but they didn't work.
Afterwards I found that some apps didn't work correctly anymore so I decided to reset the phone to the factory settings. It never got past the screen on which the picture of the android “mascot” has a loading bar through its head. The loading never starts and the phone simply freezes except for the “electron cloud”, or how one would call it, in the stomach of the android “mascot” that keeps on turning and turning. Also my laptop doesn't recognize the phone anymore. Oh, and I have tried to put it in recovery mode.
Questions:
1 Does anybody know how I can get passed the android mascot screen?
2 If not, how can I repair my android system, or replace it with a new one?
And the general sub-question; how can I make my laptop recognize my Bluebo b3000 again?
Thanx,
Felis Serval

User Tomerk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115921) knows which software to use for flashing your phone. Also he knows which zip files to use. Unfortunately he does not mention these by name nor link :s But (s)he does mention FlashTool. I could find the following website: http://androxyde.github.com/ .
Copy paste from their site:
"Introduction to Flashtool
Flashtool is a flashing software that can be used to :
Flash original Images (Android 1.6, 2.1, 2.3 Images)
Root your phone
Install Recovery, Busybox, custom kernels
Clean your Rom (remove /system/apps apps of your choice) (Be careful, unless you really know what you do, do not modify the default list. This can make your phone stuck at the SE Logo)
Clear dalvik cache
Optimize (install of JIT v2) (Disabled in 0.4, will readd it as a plugin for 2.1 phones only)
Customize (installs apps found in the custom/apps folder of the flashtool)
Clean uninstalled (remove any references to system apps removed in the Clean (root needed) step)
Edit any text file on the device
Rebrand your device"
Also I could find this FlashTool, from XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 . ANY XDA-MEMBERS THAT CAN EXPLAIN IF THIS WOULD SUITE YOUR PHONE??? For I cannot help you with this :/
Google searches used:
--> B3000 android download flash
--> download FlashTool Bluebo
Good luck, repost and...
Peace!

It starts, but doesn't respond to any touching!
Thanks to Devnulius for your reply.
Reading your reply it became clear to me that I had to reflash the phone. The phone is not that common, but its processor (MTK6575) is. Searching with Google I found this website,MT657x flashing tutorial. I found a SP Flash Tool here http://www.filecrop.com/sp-flash-tool.html. I can't remember where I found the Scatter-loading file, but I found it using Google. I followed the instructions on MT657x flashing tutorial and was able to reflash the phone. The only hard thing was that I had to connect and disconnect the phone I few times before the computer had the right driver for the computer port. I already had the drivers.
Now, a new problem has risen. The phone starts up normal and the phone loads the start screen normally. Also, I can go into factory and recovery mode. However the touchscreen is frozen. It doesn't respond to any gesture. The normal buttons (on/off switch and the two volume buttons) work normally. I've tested the touchscreen in factory mode, but to no avail. The screen will not respond.
Earlier I had asked Tomerk to send me his zip file of the Bluebo's rom. Which he did. Just as pe1fam was, as he says in this thread, I'm now able to install a Zip file in Recovery mode. I tried this with the zip file I got from Tomerk, but it didn't work. The phone aborted installation. But off course I still have the zip file.
I tried flashing the phone two more times, but the touchscreen simply won't work. The IMEI code is correct.
Does anybody have an idea on how I can make the touchscreen work again?
Thank You
Felis Serval

Also, no mirrors... So I'm really curious... Some advertisements mention "official stock software" to be delivered with your phone... Did you receive this? Also, where do the other users get their .zip stock firmwares??
sorry

rom for B3000

The phone comes in recovery and can install a zip, so that is what I'm looking for.
Can you tell me where I can find a suitable rom (or I have to return the phone to China).

yes I have flashed a rom. I don't remember where I downloaded it from, I can search if you want. Anyway I have the files on my pc. drop me an email to [email protected] if you want to contact directly.
My bluebo works again!
In the end the solution was simple. After re-flashing the phone, as was posted before, the touchscreen did not respond anymore. The solution to this problem was re-flashing the phone again but now using the boot.img and recovery.img that were stored in the clockworkmod folder of my phones SD card. On the folder with rom software for the Bluebo that I had obtained earlier, see above, both image files already existed. I replaced these with the files that I found in my clockworkmod folder, re-flashed the phone using the rom software, and voila the phone was again in working order.
Thanks DevNulius for your help!
I asked Felis for his binaries and I uploaded them here:

Hello, I Think I have the exactly the same phone as you and I messed up while trying to root with SP flash tool and disconnected during the process.
Right now i have the same simptoms as you like the frezzed ANDROID screen at boot (and no conclusion of it).
I have already dowloaded the driver and tools, but now when I connect the phone it apears at device manager just while one second and disapear.
So I found this tutorial and helped a lot teaching how to use SPflash tool:
"How To use SP Flash Tool For China Mobile Phones - HDC Legend S4 [HD]" (I cant post links yet)
The flashing process is a bit different on the video, the blueboo (on my case) only can be flashed with the battery.
I have sucessfully restored a rom with the flashing process, but now I am with the same problem as Felis Serval few posts before now.

(this brazilian guy "este chapa" its saying the touch is freezzed as me)
But I don't know how to find a proper clockworkmod to use and replace boot.img and recovery.img, I already made a clockworkmod update from a zip file on the SDcard, but the touchscreen stills don't working.
At the recovery mode I can test the buttons and are diplayed the code of every button when pressed.
A funny thing is the touch are recognized as a button too (the same code appears on every click at the screen). I don't Know if it is normal.
Unfortunately after boot and at the home screen I can not unlock because the touch dont work
POST resume in portuguese:
Depois de Flashear com os arquivos do Box do Felis Serval o Celular voltou a funcionar, porem o touch nao. Assim não consigo desbloquear a tela inicial.
Pelo Modo recovery consigo testar os botoes, no momento que é pressionado é mostrado o código, incluindo quando toco na tela (tambem é reconhecido como um botão e mostra sempre o mesmo código, não sei se isto é normal).
Hello,

Tried every button combination possible to try to start the phone, but it won't respond, neither communicate via USB. Does someone have an idea?

Hi guys.
I own this "Notebook"
Hardware is a Quad Rk3188 an OS is Android 4.2.2
my problem is that the generic root method for RK3188 does nothing else but prints one error msg after an other.
I have the sources for the tab, but i don't exactly know where to start looking for exploits or backdors.
Any Help would be appreciated.
Can't help rooting your device, haven't rooted any of my Android devices before and will probably not root my A10 ether.
But me too got this "Android Notebook" and glad to see some one else having it.
Of all apps at App Store was there only one app that wasn't compatibel whit the Lenovo A10. A broadband speed measuring app. That I can live without.
Using mine A10 for wordprocessing, mostly.
Yeah I've tried several exploits and rooting methods by now and none of them was working.. i couldn't even get Fastboot working, so i can't try booting into CWM -.- ... but the device is working really good so I'm not that unhappy

Yes my debug mode is enabled . I tried to switch it off and on but it doesn't work. Thank you for your help.
Great to see it's been successfully rooted.
Can you get the LinuxOnAndroid app to work? Some apps such as Gimp and LibreOffice don't really have equivalents for power users in Android.
If we can get it to work, it's the best of both worlds

Lenovo Ideapad A10 Kingo Root
Hi, how did you manage to root A10 with Kingo?
I have a problem that Kingo cannot connect to my "notebook"
After I connect via USB it shows connecting... and after several tries it stops with "No device connected" in the application status bar.
I have USB debugging mode turned on. I've also tried to disable and enable it few times. Still no connection.
I use Windows 8.1 64bit but also tried to connect from WIndows 7 64bit - no connection
I have Android 4.2.2 installed on my Lenovo Ideapad A10 with latest updates (build JDQ39.A10_S020_131203).
Any advices?

Do you have your drivers installed properly? .. esp. can you connect using ADB? (try this one First) .. next try disabling USB Storage - Mode.

when you've downloaded the source files tar.gz, extract this archive. (use 7zip or winrar to extract)
you'll find the drivers in A10_Open_Source_20130827\kernel\rktools\RK3188DevelopTool\rockusb.zip
these should work, since they are shipped with the sources

Has anyone come across a rooting method that works on the Acer B3-A10.

I have not had any luck finding a way to root my B3-A10. I have tried multiple root apps including those that require a computer.
In development options, there is an option to unlock bootloader. Anyone tied root with that? I don't have PC so am going to try some root apps with bootloader unlocked.
I have tried multiple root apps with and without a computer. No luck. I tried the [UNIVERSAL GUIDE] Root Any Android Device Manually ! from XDA. No luck.
I installed a new hard drive and loaded Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I had to learn the basics of Linux so that took some time. Sudo Nautilus and Sudo MC do not allow me to change permissions on the tablet. I had to connect the tablet with SFTP to get access to all the folders. I installed Debian NoRoot on the tablet but it couldn't change permissions. The tablet has SELinux and its permissions can not be changed. ADB states I can't have root options on a production device.
I can not find a boot image named boot.img or a recovery image named recovery.img on the tablet. Any suggestions as what I should try next?

I have already tried that with numerous one click apps with no luck. Haven't tried using computer yet, if anyone has any success please let us know.
I had my bootloader unlocked while trying all the various root apps. No luck.
Is there a way to edit system files (specifically /system/build.prop for enabling multi-user)?
Anyone manage to root this device yet?

Hi everybody.
I bought a Iconia One 10 B3-A20B to start developing but it is merely impossible without root access.
Bad luck: at the moment everything failed.
I tried to boot into bootloader with adb reboot bootloader. Before this step I erased my google user account on the android device and the pin security access (since I had the information from the internet that Lollipop 5.1 is preventing bootloader mode if one or both of these things are active). Also I enabled 2 more options in developers mode: USB-Debugging and the option enable unblock bootloader.
BUT: it happened not to work.
adb itself is working properly (on linux in my case). It shows me the device, I made a backup and both worked. As soon as I enter the command adb reboot bootloader the device switches of, shows a screen with a battery symbol loading (because it is connected to usb) but nothing more. Also no reaction of fastboot devices (nothing).
I managed also to find out to reboot in recovery mode by pressing the power button and volume up button for about 5 secondes. Also here appears a menu point saying reboot in bootloader, but also this is not working.
To reboot in a full check mode press the power button and the volume down for more than 5 seconds. A check is now starting with guess chinese letters on screen (with no guarantee that this ends good, so leave it).
Has anybody experience with Lollipop 5.1 and/or B3-A20 and to circumvent this barrier to boot in bootloader?
I rooted my Acer B3-A10 tablet with the latest King Root. I purchased then installed SuperSU Pro and successfully updated the binaries. I wanted to use Chainfire's product and support his efforts. I follow him on XDA. After the SuperSU installation my tablet will not boot. I can get into its recovery mode and into fastboot. ADB does not work in the recovery mode. I have a backup.ab file but can not install it without ADB access. I can not find a factory recovery image to flash. Any suggestions?
I took out my SD card then selected update from external source. Several strange folders were displayed including one that was labelled Do Not Panic. None of them were functional. I still have not determined what I can do next? I loaded the source code for my tablet into Android Studio and created a functional emulated device but I can't transfer it to the tablet.
Finally got it rooted. Used Kingroot on computer, it took 2 attempts. After rooting ran supersu me pro to get rid of kinguser and install super su.
Has anyone else had success with Kingroot? Looking to buy a couple of these, but don't want to risk not being able to root them...

If Device has an option for unlocking Bootloader, so you can boot to fastboot mode and unlock Bootloader. Then Install Recovery (such as: CWM or TWRP) and Flash Root zip.
