Hi everyone,
We're very lucky in that the different model carrier/international variants for the G2 have similar hardware other than radio differences and the Korean variant having micro SD.
If we just used our own kernels (which I assume may be a little different accross carriers) couldn't it be easy to set up flashable zips for each carrier to set up provisioning/data/gps? There are some guides on XDA on rom porting for other phones
Not a dev myself, but was wondering what information from each stock rom could be useful to help make this easier
Yea on the vzw galaxy nexus this guy made a zip to flash gsm roms on toro and all u had to do was go into the rom change thename from maguro to toro n zip it back up, flash the rom then the .zip n u were good.

Although on the gnex the kernel was the same across variants so if someone wrote a similar script for the g2 u might have to flash a vzw specific kernel after flashing the international rom and the .zip

Hello.
I've been running Cyanogenmod 9 for a week or so now, but today I wanted to check out the Checkrom ROM and see if it was anything. It was not and I've already switched back to Cyanogenmod again.
However, when I flashed Checkrom I apparantly also installed a new basebandversion called I9100XXLP1, previous I was using the one called I9100XXLPQ.
Does it make any difference which I use?
As far as I can understand baseband versions are the same as modems, which I've seen people talk about in other threads. I haven't really experimented with the different modems but I'd like to know if I should try to revert back to my old baseband version, and if so, how I do it.
Cheers!
Yes Baseband and Modem are same, wich is a part of firmware controls GSM, 2G/3G data etc.. of your phone.
if you are not feeling any difference in your data speed and signal strength, it is not necesory to change back.

Some custom roms contain Modem also, which replaces your exising modem, but CM9 does not contain a Modem, so your last flashed Modem (with checkrom) will be there even after flashing CM9 back
Thanks. That was enlightening
I haven't really experienced any difference regarding data speed and signal strength, but in case I do I'd like to know how to change it back.
I've found this page containing links to the various modems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
Can I just download one of those and flash it?
And does it make any difference if it says 4.0.3 under firmware instead of 4.0.4 which I am using?
No the link you quoted is not for Modems but its is for ICS official ROM,
I think you have lot more to learn about to the firmware versions and parts of firmwares and more....
dont rush for any unecessory flashing....fist you learn as much as psooible by reading the informations FAQs
i just bought an at&t galaxy note earlier today and i was wondering what rom or radio do i need to download. its not my first time doing this but i want to be extra careful.
WHAT I DESIRE
i would love to have t-mobile apps on my note as well as t-mobile 4g lte or whatever its called.
Wifi calling if possible and other t-mobile features.
If i install a t-mobile rom to this unlocked phone will it brick it?( i wouldnt even know what rom to install)
I would like a rom that everything works, (gps,mms,sms,4g, and wifi)
Can anyone help please? ive already rooted the phone as well as installed cwm 5. i came from galaxy epic 4g touch (sprint) so im used to having to odin to el26/el29 then going to ics, Is it the same method for this phone?
Take a good look in the "note everything thread "
It is at the top of the general section as a sticky.
Nearly every rom available is there, along with all modem links etc.
Picking a rom is really personal preference, but having them all in one location, will help you to make a good choice.
Please read the individual rom threads carefully, as a few of them are tricky ...g

Here it is ...
Each rom thread should be reviewed thoroughly before flashing anything ...IMHO
And each rom has a QA thread for the most part.
Happy reading ...g
thanks
Hello I have the LG E970 AT&T , I want to remain to stock but try new forks and variants of the stock, mostly which are debloated.
As far as I can see it is only stuck on Android ver 4.1.2 (if I am not wrong).
There is also confusion as the same model "LG Optimus G" has been released with four names/variants on different carriers/countries :
E970
E971
E973
F-180K/L/S
So I want to ask can I flash any de-branded original ROM for any of the above given models on my phone or do I have to specifically use the ROMs for AT&T E970 only.
Have searching at http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=20 and http://www.lg-phones.org/official-stock-lg-optimus-g-firmware-rom.html but cannot find anything for E970.
Any guidance and link to find its stock ROM variants would be appreciated, also would be nice to know if there something available on 4.2 or 4.3
Thanks for your replies.

Use roms for the E970 only!, the other international variants have differences(no sd slot, 13 mp cam instead of 8 mp).
Of all th stock variants out there, i have tried:
Nocturnal: Has sony walkman, album and movie apps. Don't really like the boot animations though.
slickrom: LG home is missing, uses another launcher.
EG8: what i'm currently using, pretty much all bloatware removed.
There is also a JB port of the korean rom by snowleopard, but i haven't used it.
Thanks for clarifying.

This one has is stock based but has some G2 apps and features added in.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2084431
Or this one as they are the only ones that have active development.
If you not adverse to trying, I would definitely recommend the f orum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228880 ( [AOSPA 4.4.2 KOT49H] PARANOIDANDROID 4.0+ GEEB [beta3][01/20] )
I've been very happy with the rom, no issues to report so far. Other users have commented its the one they always flash back to
If you go into the international forum they have a development section for Canada. Of you flash a att kernel after the rom it usual works

Hello guys,
First off, I have a rooted Panasonic P81 with a MTK-6592 Chip-set maybe, and its rooted(obviously),
So Can someone tell me how do i port a Rom for my device, like i want miui v6 for my Panasonic P81(which is not available currently).
Help would be highly appreciated,
Thanks a ton!
First off all you should search for a porting guide... which can be easily found with the search forum function.
Then you gotta make sure you can get a hold on the RAMDISK for your device.... The rest of the porting will be explained in the forums.

So i got a Jellybean base and i want to upgrade to Lolipop, and the porting guide says that the Port rom should be of the same version as then STOCK what do i do?
Well your base ROM has to be an official ROM made for your phone, meaning if you want lollipop, but they haven't got lollipop for your device yet, that you can't port a rom for your phone...
Porting actually only means, that when someone makes a ROM (which is a customised version of the base firmware) for like the galaxy S4 , and calls it galaxyfosho, and you got a for example HTC M9 , that you can get the galaxyfosho (customised base) on your HTC.
Do you get what I mean?
---------- Post added at 10:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:44 AM ----------
So your question was: you got JB and want to go to lollipop?
Answer:
You gotta get a Lollipop stock Base First. On which you can port a custom Lollipop ROM
One last Question,

Well, I had a Galaxy S i9003 before, as far as i know, Samsung had just released the gingerbread for that handset, but i had flashed Cyanogenmod, and many custom roms based on Kitkat and jellybean, then did that happnen?
Yeah it is possible, if it is availble for your handset, but since you said no-one did it before, you gotta try working it out yourself, but it ain't easy
Like the title say i see there is a good number of roms for lg v10 the t-mobile version like cm13 and ressurection and modified original rom and the two models have the same hardware i think
Is there any way that could we flash it on another lg v10 like mine is H960A rooted
well, seriously thinking about getting myself a V10 with my contract renewal, but obviously only if i can flash cyanogenmod (either 12 or 13, don't really care) but the only one available is indeed for t-mobile US.... Any chance an international V10 flashed with it might still work?
Did it work
Did you try it?
