Just wondering if this iPad charger would harm the Note 3 if used. It is 2.1 amps 10 watts. It seems more powerful than the note 3. Just wanted to get an expert opinion. Thanks

should be fine. I've been using my girl friends ipad charger in the living room for weeks. according to my phone it's pulling 1800 mah from it, same as the original charger.
It won't damage the phone. The charger has a 2.1a maximum output. The phone will pull as much as it needs to charge. If you hook up a ten amp charger, it won't hurt the phone. The phone's circuitry was designed to use whatever amperage limit it was made for. If the phone only pulls 1.8a at full usage and charging, then that's all it's going to use. It's better to have a power supply with plenty of extra amperage output, at the same voltage, than a smaller output at same voltage.
---------- Post added at 02:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:12 AM ----------
Bigger amperage capacity is fine, but it needs to output the proper voltage for what you're using it on. For USB devices, it needs to be five volts DC. You could have a hundred amp power supply as long as its out put is 5vdc then you're fine. It doesn't shove 100 amps down the device's throat, if the device is using 5 amps then the power supply is only going to give it 5 amps.
Thanks for the helpful information! I really appreciate it.

As long as it is at least 500mah you will be fine. With modern phones the phone controls the charging rate so even if you get a 5 amp adapter it won't hurt anything (as long as the voltage is right, of course) as the phone will only pull what it needs.
I have a question for those who bought the Samsung spare battery charger device with the integrated stand. What is the rated output voltage and amperage of the charger? If should say so on the device itself.
Also, if possible, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me the actual voltage and/or amperage of the charger as measured by a volt/amp meter.
The reason I am looking for this info is because I bought a spare battery from Samsung, but the current charger that I have doesn't charge it all the way (only to about 91% full) since the output voltage is too low. I would like to purchase a third party charger since they are much cheaper, but I need to know what its specs should be.
I believe the charger your talking about is 5.0 volts and 1.0 amp. I haven't run it on a meter. I would say any usb charger with that rating or higher should be sufficient for a 100% charge

Sorry, I didn't mean the USB charger, I meant the one where you put a spare battery in it by itself to charge. Here is the link for what it looks like:

Sorry, shouldn't have said usb. I was in a sprint store on Sunday looking at that battery/charger combo and I it said 5.0 volts/ 1.0amp

Incorrect. The charger that comes with the phone itself is 1 amp, the charger that comes with Samsung's spare battery stand ebh-1g6mla is only .7 - the stand can accept input at either 500 mA or
1 A. It outputs only 4.2v @ either 450 or 900 mA.

Output 5.0 volts 0.7 amp
Did they give me the correct charger?

Its not the stock charger, but it'll work. Stock is 5v-1.0a
no, you should have a 5.0v 1.0 amp charger. if you use the .7 amp charger you will notice your battery life depleting faster then normal. you can get a charger that has an output greater then 1 amp (or 1,000mA), it won't hurt the phone as long as you stay at 5.0 to 5.5 volts. the phone will only draw what it need's in ampere's. i used a 1.7amp charger (till i lost it) for awhile with my phone's, the battery would both charge faster and last longer without any harm to the phone.
SHORT ANSWER... THEY SENT YOU THE WRONG CHARGER

I am wondering if I should call up and ask for a new one..
My battery dies a lot faster now since I started using this charger..
thanks for the input guys..
Greatly appreciated..
sorry for the response time..
I just bought one of those things you plug into the wall and it has two USB ports. One of the ports is marked 2.1A. Any reason not to charge the Evo from that?
EDIT: never mind, my bad - I found the answer in the forums.
What was the answer?

2.1 is the max amperage available for charging. It won't hurt anything, as the phone will regulate the level drawn to its maximum amount.
If you use a low-power charger, say .5A or below, then it will just take longer to charge.
The 3.0 that was mentioned is USB 3.0 (speed/revision), not the current rating.
2.1 will work fine. It will charge the phone noticeably quicker. I know this because I use my Nexus 7 charge brick to charge my phone all the time and it's significantly quicker.
It's also completely safe.

Your phone will not intake power at a higher rate than 2.1 amps. That's by electrical design, not by software.

So I wasted my money on an extra 0.9 amps?.. The charger was only $8 so it doesn't matter I guess. At least I have the power to plug something else in the second USB slot and not go below 2.1amps.

^^^that's exactly why those chargers exist.

I was scared that I was doing damage to it by using my Note II's 2 amp charger! lol Thanks for that!
Hello friends today I will tell you how u can charge your note 2 very fast.. As we all know note 2 takes quite a long time to charge.. So I will tell u a simple trick to charge your note 2 faster than ever...
What u have to do just replace your Samsung's data cable to nokia's data cable.. now many people will ask me what's the difference in those data cable.. guyzz there is a big logic behind this..
In samsung's data cable there are just 4pins in pin.. But in nokia's or in lg's data cable there are 5pins in pin that's why they charge very fast.. Take a look on picture I have lg's data cable and it have 5pins in pin..
So guyzz just use nokia's or lg's data cable to charge your note 2 very fast.. believe me guyz it really works..
Hit thanks if I helped you...

It's true. I am using the cable from my old HTC phone and it takes 2-2.5 hours to charge the phone. It will take 5-6 hours if Samsung cable is used.
how does having 5 pins help in charging faster ?
ultimately on the other end there are only 4 pins right ?

I believe it might increase the phone temp

Download "Galaxy Charging current" from the play store and you should get 1800 mA as your max and current if it's lower than that then you should replace your cable with a note 2 original cable just like what happened to me suddenly my note 2 needed 8 hours to charge now it's back to 2 hour \o/
My charger takes me a hour and a half to charge incredible I purchased it at handtec and honestly its amazing

i'm using Anker Astro E5 15000mAh External Battery USB cable... Trust Me... very fast charging:good:
i though best is using the galaxy current charging app to see the power current charging rate between 1600-1800 ?
does this LG 5 pin cable charging rate between 1600~1800mAh ?
Wont the charging tweaks fill in the hypothetical gap of both the pins in the cable? I mean im sure you can simply adjust the kernel to push out a higher current, or will the higher current be limited by the Samsung cable?
Actually yes! Just use persues kernel. You can reduce input voltage to as low as 0.3amp and as high as 2.1 amp. N2 Charges by default at 1.8amp.

As per my point of view its all misconceptions ......as long as ur phone is getting more than 1600 mamp current it will fast charge with any of the cables ...and if ur getting less than that it will charge slow ...so instead keep an eye on that ...as soon as it starts reducing check the cable .....

I charge in less than 2 hours with a charger I bought at a shop nearby.and it has the HTC usb attached
I agree to Manish
I agree to Manish.. check first in galaxy chaging current app what you are getting. Currently im using a 3 in 1 usb cable and Im getting 1800mah using the 2.1amp charger and 1200 if I connected it to the usb port of my laptop.
