[Q] Google play music My library widget - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I'm from Europe and my play store doesn't have the music section yet but i've been using it anyway.
I just got the nexus 5 and now when i try to add the play store "my library" widget it doesn't allow me to select music as source for the widget as i'd like.
On my old phone i had the widget showing music only and i don't recall doing anything special for that to work.
So how do i go about getting the play store my library music widget working?
Stock nexus 5, not currently rooted.
Thanks.

Google Music Widget, sucks.

The title says it all, google has truly missed the ball on this one. Now I have looked with zero luck. So im guessing the answer is no, but is there some sort of alternative music widget that will work with Google Music? Googles is way to boring. (Come to think of it every single google widget is boring and plain) I understand there are alternative app, but I used the cloud thing.
Welp thanks in advance for any suggestions!

+1 the music widget does suck
i wish there was a full screen widget available.
But the 4x2 widget in CM7 suffices.
That's one of the main reasons that's holding me back from using the new google music.
Is there any way to change it, or let the big G know?
Not too happy with any of the music apps I've tried. Using DoubleTwist at the moment. Google Music didn't impress me too much not to mention it would take forever to upload my collection. Eyeballing Spotify but not sure I want to drop $120 a year on that service.
You have a screenshot of the CM7 widget? Just got my Captivate phone 2 weeks ago. Just rooted to get rid of AT&T bloatware and looking for an updated ROM from the stock FROYO.UCKB2 (2.2)
Seeing as other music apps were mentioned, a few examples are here: Android Media Players
is it not possible to get the widget from honeycomb? It's beautiful and it makes no sense to not have it in ICS
I agree, the single music widget provided with the Google Music app is terrible! And it's been that way foooorever.
I keep searching the Android Market every so often to see if any other 3rd party widgets have become available that will work with Google Music, but so far there's nothing I've found that has 100% compatibility.
The one I've ended up using is from the app called "iSyncr". I had actually purchased that app quite a while ago to sync my iTunes-based music on my Mac to my Android phone, and it turns out that the widgets that come with the app also happen to work relatively well with Google Music on my GSM Galaxy Nexus. The only glitch that occurs sometimes is that the widget can't show album art for some of my MP3s.
The iSyncr app comes with just 3 widget sizes: 1x4 and 2x4 and 4x4, and you can find them in the Widgets section of Android listed as "Music Ratings", after you've installed the app.
This is a link to the web site for iSyncr and it shows a pic of the 4x4 widget:

My preferred music widget of the past was "Pure Music" and it was awesome!! Unfortunately, the dev for it says that he can't make it compatible with Google Music as Google has not released the appropriate APIs for him to do so. Really, really sucks because the Pure Music widget is really customizable and has a lot of nice options to alter how it looks.
Finally, I happened to have a brief chat via Google Plus with someone that works on the Google Music dev team and he said that one of the larget requests they get is to update the widget for the app and to offer more widget sizes for it. He said it's on their schedule of "things to do" during the first quarter of 2012, so here's hoping they actually do update it!!! <crosses fingers>
FYI: Pure Music Widget has now been updated so that it's compatible with ICS/Google Music app.

This is what I'd been using as my music widget on my many different Android-based phones over the years but I had to stop using it when I got my Galaxy Nexus and found that it wasn't compatible.
Really happy the widget has been updated and I can go back to using it!
for some reason Pure Music Widget isn't showing the Album art from google music for me. I can see the title and song name but no album art. song plays smoothly.
any idea whats wrong?

I've noticed the same thing with some of my mp3 files & pure music widget. Looks like it has something to do with either the type of picture file used for the album art or how the picture file is embedded into the mp3.
Most of my mp3s display the album art just fine but all of the ones I bought from 7Digital don't.

How do I configure Pure music widget to play Google music?
Any news on google updating their own widget by the way?
as far as I know, NO WIDGET can pull album art covers from the Google Cloud...
which sucks, because the widget ACTUALLY WORKS even though the music player sucks, but I like my cloud storage just to free up room on the phone
Try Cube player its pretty cool but album does get mixed up when flashing different Roms.

Better Google Play Music Widget?

I like the google play music app, but the widget is the most boring thing I have ever seen. Any using/know of some installable widgets that run the google play music app but have some more functionality than that simple bar offered from google?
I was wondering the same exact thing...
I use double twist widget to control music downloaded from Google play music

Me too. It is ugly and very limited. The old music app has been removed unfortunately. Any ideas would help

[Q] Google Play Music: changing music tags from PC

Hello, my question is... I recently started using the Google Play Music free service, so I uploaded my complete music collection with the Music Manager software, everything is cool but I noticed that some of the album art looks kinda bad on my Nexus 7 (I guess is because the resolution). So my question is, if I were to change a tag of a song on my PC, will it be automatic updated to my google play account?
Thanks.

Probably would be easier to use one of the apps on the tablet to do that. There a few in the Play Store, though not familiar with any of them myself.

[Q] How to play offline music in default player NOT Google Play Music

Okay I purchased music using google play music. I can listen to the music offline with Google Play music, but my default OEM/factory Galaxy music player doesn't detect the music I purchased. Also I found out Google stores the files here:
/mnt/sdcard/android/data/com.google.music/files/music
When I went to that dictory I noticed the MP3 file was named 724.mp3 I'am able to point poweramp to that folder and play it but with the galaxy I don't see any options to force it to point to any directories. I like using the Samsung OEM player. Is it possible to get my default player to play this?
Funny thing is when I use root explorer to play the song it uses the Galaxy music player to play it but when I goto the Galaxy music player it doesn't detect the song.

if you use the play website rather then the app you can download it a certain number of times, just as MP3s. You may have to do that on the computer. You can allow download the music manager on your computer and it will download your whole library without it counting against your download limit... But you do have to download the whole thing, then add what ever album you want to your phone. I prefer to just get a big SD card and go this route. I just download and manage my own music, and think of the online copy as a backup.
Not a perfect answer, but at least a version of what your trying to do, if you were unaware.
GMusicFS is an option, but probably won't do exactly what you're asking either.

[Q] Play Music --> HTC Music App

Hi all. Quick question:
I have google play all access, and I have stored the music locally on my device. I was wondering if there is a way to get all of my google play music files to play through the HTC Music app. Reason being, I want to install the Harmon-Kardon edition mod, but looks like the most benefit comes from using the HTC Music app. Does anyone know how I might go about sourcing all the google play files onto the HTC Music app?
Stock rooted, S-OFF, with latest OTA
Thanks!

The Harmon Kardon mod is really about enhancing compressed music, though it also supports 192khz via flac's, but you are asking about Play Music, which is compressed, even at high quality. The bottom line is that the mod works on all music apps, from Spotify, to Google Play Music exactly the same as it does for the HTC Music app. Technically, you can play the G Play music mp3's on any player, if you are rooted. You just need to move them to another folder. The down side is that the G Play app names all of the songs numerically, like 7483.mp3, so in the end, you are better off just using whatever music app you normally use.
another thing you can do is go into your default.xml file and edit the line pertaining to music channel (turning it on the rebooting, making sure the change has been saved). This allows me to play my playlists off Google music with the HTC player features, giving me access to the visualizer, lyrics (when applicable) etc, and the HK mod icons are active
Soon as I start a song, I get a notification that Music Channel is available, I click the notification and there it is
