[Q]Phone stuck while transfering files PC > S2 (via USB) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I got kinda unpleasant problem... I was transferring files from PC to my phone via USB and it got stuck (phone), PC was still showing disks of phone but I was unable to do anything with them. The only way to wave my phone up was hard-reset (removing battery) and after the last hard-reset phone had stuck on the boot screen:

But I can still enter the Recovery.
Any ideas how to fix both this problems without making changes to phone and microSD card memory (I just can't change it).
Btw, I'm using CM 10.2 20131117 Nightly
P.S. I attached photo with errors which I got on PC when phone stucks

You can try re-flashing your ROM again first, without doing any wipes. If that doesn't help, go into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache, fix permissions, then reboot and see. If that doesn't help, do a factory reset.

One guys said that this file transferring stuck happens because CM Kernel is bugged and this stuck can be avoided by not allowing phone screen to "sleep" (I think there is a setting for it) while transferring files - is it true?

Am sorry, but I really don't know. I have never used the stock CM kernel much.

The stock Cm10 kernel and also slim kernel has got some mount issue's when using 'USB Mass storage' mode, hence its advisable to use 'MTP' mode instead
If ur able to enter recovery mode then u can reflash the rom and see, if not possible to go to recovery then just ODIN flash 'Stock CM10' kernel if one is available or else u can use the 'Philz' kernel to flash through ODIN and use its recovery to flash a stock CM10 Kernel Zip file

I changed connection type from USB Mass storage to MTP, but now my phone does not connects to PC at all - what the hell? :s
P.S. I can't reflash rom, because I need to keep my phone memory safe for a while :|

@GeoPrey One thing I can think of is a dirty flash, I've done this before.
Just go ahead and wipe the Cache and Dalvik then flash the phone with the rom again.
No Factory Resets or w/e.
Not entirely sure if you still keep your text messages though.
But everything else is a go-a-head.
You can also push files through ADB in recovery if you have the Android SDK installed.

Possible Brick HELP!!

Thank you in advance.
I just got my SGS2 back from repair today (stuck pixel) and I wanted to installe CM9. I thought I'd start with the latest CWM - the link was broken so I flashed CWM 4.0.0.8, which flashed fine.
When the phone rebooted, it sat in a loop doing nothing. I then flashed CWM 4.0.1.4, which also did not help. I attempted to wipe cache using CWM. A heap of errors scrolled down the screen. I thought I'd restore back to factory kernel and rom, which I did. I am still in bootloop and I have the following text on screen when I go to stock recovery

I assume you can enter download mode right?
just flash stock rom via odin..you should be fine...refer intratech thread..
It's like CWM, but very limited options and yes, download mode works fine. I wonder what has caused this issue?

dunno...most likely you flash wrong rom without reading first...or your zip file not finished download....
check you file..name, actual size before flashing
I hadn't even gotten as far as flashing a ROM, to obtain root, I attempted to use CWM, that is when things went wrong
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458 try this even i got strucked like that wen i tried to flash custom rom

That would work, but multiupload is busted
Wipe data/factory reset, clear cache.. The it will start a fresh.. Then re-root if needed.. Hope this helps
This post was most of the solution. After this, I could flash an old version of CMW that worked. Following that, I could flash cyanogen mod 9. Thanks to all

what did you update on CWM?
cant you mount your phone thru cwm, to be seen on your pc to copy a ROM over to install/flash?
Are you still trying to install CM9?
if all else fails you can use one of the "one click to stock" then put cwm (i use touch), then put a ROM to flash on...

Just because your in recovery and no roms show in your files doesn't mean your stuck. Just hit reboot system now and it'll take you back
Biggest dog on the block, NOTE!! ICSed AOKP
also you can try to mount the SD while in recovery then hook up to pc via usb cable and copy the ROM
note i haven't checked CWM recently so the option to mount SD might no longer be there

That would be the dumbest thing to remove...It's in mounts and storage...like always
I was recently in the same boat.
It all else fails you can use Odin to push a kernel or rom or what ever. This assumes you can get into download mode.
How can I push from ODIN please? I am looking but not sure.

I am really stuck.
Tried to root, looked good.
flashed CWM... looked good.
Tried to flash CM9...
whoa.... things went pretty weird.
Now, I cannot get sdcard mounted, or formatted.
I guess I had a corrupted .zip file, but now how do I get the file onto the phone. (ATT Note without external SD)
And now... I cannot even browse to a zip file to install in CWM... bounces back to menus.
Please help?

Go into download mode on your device by holding the volume down and power at the same time. Then use odin on your computer to flash a stock rom or use the emergency recovery method.

I don't exactly understand what you mean but if you want to permanently change your recovery, I suggest you flash a custom kernel like Philz kernel or Siyah
I think your cwm zip file is a temporary recovery which is not very safe.

Yes, I understood mate. U need a custom recovery called ClockworkMod (CWM). It has those options and allows u to flash custom roms.
Since ur on JB, to get CWM recovery, u need to flash a custom kernel like Philz or Siyah. Try searching for them.
Feel free to ask any doubts u may have after searching.

Ah, so you want to install a rom, lol, well friend all you need is to do is flash a custom kernel (most custom kernels have permanent custom recovery) and reboot into recovery using the buttons and then do as your rom instructs you to, if you flash latest Philz kernel you will get a recovery with touch support to play with.

Flash Siyah or SpeedMod or Philz Kernel !
kernel for S2
Dear Senior member,
does Philz , siyah work with any rom (AOSP / AOKP).
or they are designed to work with specific roms only.
I'm using Supernexus 2 build 4 but siyah v5 doesnt wotk on it dori makes my phone over heated
Dear junior member,
What does the supernexus threas say regarding this matter?
Siyah v5 works with ICS, siyah v6 works with JB (doesn't perform well tho).

My friend's S3 seems bricked. Can I get it back to life?

Hello there.
A couple of months back my friend was having trouble with her S3 and she had to reset e every couple of days. So I instructed her to install Cyanogenmod via the official installer. She did and it worked.
A few days back she told he it won't update and I guessed that it won't for the lack of CWM so I told her to get Rashr from the Play Store and flash a custom recovery, which she did successfully. Even though the phone wouldn't update anyway.
So last night she told me that her phone stopped booting up completely. When booting to recovery and trying to flash a zip through CWM doesn't work because it keeps telling her "E: no sd card" or something like that. Now she doesn't have an SD card, but my understanding is that this refers to the internal storage too. So why can't the recovery read it?
Furthermore I tried to get her to flash another recover via Odin, but Odin fails to flash

To be honest I'm not sure if it's on or not since the device isn't booting up anymore.
How can I flash the stock Rom from recovery when it can't even see the storage?

HELP ME - Samsung SM-G925F don't work

Hi, I am asking for help because my samsung s6 edge SM-G925F has restarted and does not work anymore.
If I try to start it only shows the message samsung galaxy and restarts continuously.
It does not enter into recovery mode while running the downloading mode.
I tried to flash it via Odin with its firmware but will not turn on.
What can I do?
Many thanks in advance.
Sounds like it needs a wipe after flashing. If you put it in download mode and use Samsung smart switch then it can do an emergency recovery.

What type of operations have you did? Try this:
1. Go to odin download mode and flash TWRP recovery. Follow full explaination and flash also no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip.
2. Now wipe your system, data, cache, dalvik-cache and sdcard partitions. WARNING: your data will be erased and you can't boot if you willn't flash another firmware.
3. Reboot system also if your phone haven't any operting system installed.
4. Now force download mode and attach your s6 edge to a computer using an original Samsung cable
5. Download by sammobile the lastest firmware: only the correct for your device
6. Start ODIN and flash firmware who you have just downloaded checking only Auto reboot and F. Reset Time.
7. Wait...
8. Now your device will be rebooted: wait 2-5 minutes and enjoy!
If any problem, Write Me in this post.
Thanks for the reply.
I followed the procedure but after flashing TWRP with ODIN, the phone continues to constantly restart the samsung logo, does not enter into recovery mode.
During the process I FLASH pressed UP and home.
(I used Odin v3.11 and TWRP-3.0.2-0-zerolte.img.tar)
What can I do?
