I just installed the MiRaGe kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175191&highlight=tether+app) on my Sprint Evo 3D and everything is working great except I cant get the hotspot or wifi tether apps to work.
Is there a certain app that works with that kernel or do I have to change a setting or soemething? When I try to activate the hotspot app the wifi turns on but the data wont connect and I get an error. When I try the Wifi Tether app it appears that the data is working but the wifi doesn't turn on.
I am running the stock ICS rom.

Well u can root your phone and then install barnacle or a wifi tether app to convert ur phone into a wifi router. ;-)

Nop. with barnacle you will have an wifi connection. Anyways, you will want to have your charger at hand, as it eats battery.
I have my view on boost, cant get wifi tether to work with my settings for the evdo set to auto, it has fast data but wont pass data. Anyone on boost have wifi tether and fast data working?

Please help, i am using xperia s with stock ics and i am completely unable to share internet with my laptop. I have tried usb tethering, wifi hotspot, bluetooth tethering even downloaded usb tether pro and nothing simply works . What to do?

Yes i think they are. Usb tethering aside, When i try using wifi hotspot it connects properly with the laptop, signal strength also shows excellent but there is still the 'no Internet access' pop up on the laptop. I have also switched on mobile data and 3G

Wifi tethering is broken in the ICS stock ROM for most (if not all) Xperia devices . I've been trying various custom ROMS for my Xperia Active today but just encounter other issues (e.g. camera doesn't work with PAranoid Android)
Hi, I havnt used the stock ics build, but if u need teathering to work try installin Erachter Rom. I always use portable hotspot and works fine(as long as I have data reception). Not sure about Bluetooth or usb teathering though.

for usb tether.. use pdanet.. works fine too.

Working Fine, I'm using Stock Kernel With Stock RoM !!! WiFi Tethering is Working Fine For Me ..... maybe problem in your drivers
Hi, I am currently running mwakious3drom v.16.3 and I've noticed that when I turn wireless tethering on , I get "no mobile network" right beneath the checkbox , and when I connect with my laptop or any other phone , the co nectuin works fine by there's no internet access.
Anyone seen that occur?

Its a known ICS bug. Native tether kills 3g use WiFi tether app from Google play
I have searched and tried alot of configs for wifi tether but no luck.
I am using wifi tether- treve mod
i am on CM 10.1.3 RC 2
issues i am having is if i set it to generic wlan0 or 1 the ap will not start
i leave it as auto i am not able to see the ssid
any help would be great
Treve mod doesn't work on aosp use the built it tether, works fine...

System Settings - under Wireless and Networks hit "MORE" - then Tethering & Portable hotspot.... setup Wi-Fi Hotspot the way you want it and hit Portable Wi-fi hotspot to turn it on, you can also add a tile to turn it on from the quick settings panel...
