Yes there is actually.
You can unlock the bootloader via HTCdev, then flash a custom recovery, such as ClockworkMod or whichever recovery is available via fastboot.
After doing this, download this http://download.chainfire.eu/370/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip. Put it in your SD card, then boot into recovery and flash it. You'll be rooted after that

Hi aayushgala, do you still have the instruction how do you root it? What ROM did you use now?
I'm trying to root and somehow stuck at S-off/S-On..
Hope you can shed some light. Thanks.

[Q] Root

Hi,to everyone:
so,i'm newb,and i dont leave in the us,and i'm a proud owner of a Droid Dna.
As i dont be on the us,i cant have na OTA update,so i'm stock 1.15
And i have a few questions,help:
1) I'm going to do the Unlock using the Supercid, and do the htcdev process.
flash a new recovery,and install superuser.Correct?
the questions are:
1) Doing the unlock,i can place a ROM even the stock rom (deodexed or other)?
2) The process will be: remove the boot.img from the rom zip file
flash it manually, and them place the rom.zip file on the phone and flash it in recovery.
I think that the rom will not have the new kernel,so i think that i have to install it manually, will i be unrooted?
In this Post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2080200) it says that is the new update Rom,but does it have the original kernel,or i have to install it via recovery or manually??
Thanks for all the help you guys can give me!

1, I believe the answer is yes
2. In most cases, the boot.img is provided along with the rom as a separate download so no need of extraction. It has to be flashed using adb from your pc -usually right before you install the rom.
3. If you allow the ota update before you root you can not root, If after you've rooted and bootloader is unlocked, it will download but won't install-at least it did not for me. If you relock the bootloader and flash a to stock, I heard you can get the ota but you will not be able to unlock it again. Not sure on that part. Rumor says that this will get fixed soon but as f right now no.
Thanks

[Q] Help Rooting HTC Desire X Android 4.0

Hi XDA'S
Could somebody help me rooting my htc?
I've already unlock the bootloader via htcdev, but i can't root the phone.
I used all toolkit versions from Hasoon, htc quickroot, but i still at the same point.
I just want to root the phone but leave him factory stock,no custom roms nothing, i need him rooted so i can't delete some apps and use an anti-theft app which use gps connection.
I've serched through the web and the forum, but still don't know what i need to do or how to do it.
Is there any XDA God or God member that can help me doing this? If yes, please explain me like a totally noob with a step by step tutorial.
Sorry if my english isn't good and if i posted in a wrong section.
Thanks in advance

Have you installed CWM on your Device?
If not, then use Hasoons toolkit, there is an option on the middle right Flash recovery option.
Select the CLOCKWORKMOD 6.1.5 and then click Flash Recovery.
After installing cwm, first download the attached file and put it in the SD card.
again use Hasoons Tolkit and Select the Boot into Recovery option which is situated at the Commands Section and then Click Do Command.
Make ensure that the Usb Debugging mode is enabled, if its not then you will not be able to use Hasoons toolkit.
When you will be on the cwm mode then select choose zip frm sdcard ,
Select the file which you have downloaded on the Sd card and install it.
So, congrats, you have rooted your Device.
If you want to install apps like Cerberus anti theft , then in the same way you have to boot into recovery to cwm and select
choose zip from the sd card and install the Cerberus file which will be in .zip format.

It's not bricked, I think you need to reinstall a recovery. I recommend TWRP 2.5 instead of 2.6 because 2.5 has no bugs. Try to restore your nandroid backup (if you haven't any try one of these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2324815 and choose your cid) and then flash SuperSU: http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
PS: you can use the tool for installing custom recovery, only choose ''your own recovery'' and click on the recovery image

Its great, works like a charm.
It only works with kk?
Works in any android version I believe, I think they implemented it in TWRP 2.7 but I could be mistaken.
The only time it doesn't work is if you manually unroot but missed deleting some of the files.

Hi,
I am sure you understand, how to use ADB Fastboot.
Download latest SuperSu update zip and have it on SDCARD.
Search and download @desperanto or @AndroPlus Advance stock kernel on pc. Extract .img file ...
Get in to fastboot mode, and flash.img using ADB.
These Advanced kernels have recovery built in.
In recovery flash SuperSU zip.
Done... rooted on UL bootloader.
