I know Tasker can do that, not sure if there's anything natively to do that though.

Hello,
I'm not doing well with the integrated voice dialer. It is nice that it is free but not very accurate ( have about 400 contacts and often it just tries to dial stuff on in my contacts). I also get frustrated it dials the wrong number without verification that it has the right number.
The MS command was very accurate. It might seem crazy but if that is made by a third party, do they make a droid version? I'm very new to android so I appreciate the info.
Try Vlingo. I find that it is generally more accurate than the free google voice recognition.

+1 for vlingo. I feel the same way about MS Voice Command, in comparison to the stock voice search on android.
Thanks - I just tried VLINGO - maybe I don't have it set up properly. I want something just MS Voice command where I press the button on my headset and it I say "call john doe at mobile" and it properly selects the name from my contacts and then says "call john doe on mobile" and I say yes and it dials.
VLINGO kept on coming up with on screen prompts. I don't want to look at my phone while I'm driving.

The first time you trigger it (by holding the search button), it will ask you some crap. Just go through that once, and it won't do it again. Next time you hit it, it will just pop up a screen that says "Listening..." At that point just say, "Call homer simpson mobile" and it will do so. It has been remarkably accurate for me. And you can even have it do other things than dial (send text to..., etc.).
Overall, I like it about as well as MS voice command, and it does more.
Also, no need to hit "go" when you're done speaking. Just wait a second and it will figure it out. The less interaction with the screen, the better, in my opinion.
Thanks - I think my mistake was setting it for vlingo inCar. I still could use your help a bit further. I don't know how to have it give me a verbal confirmation vs. on screen. I also don't know how to have it search my contacts and not the web/yellow pages. When I'm calling via BT, I know who I want to call.

I haven't used it, but here is how you setup verbal confirmations: open the app, click menu, settings, click advanced, and check "text to speech (beta)."
I've never had mine search the web. Are you using "Call..." or just saying the person's name? Try saying "call peter griffin at home" instead of just "peter griffin" and see if that works better for you. There must be a setting to disable that, because I've never had it search the web when I was trying to dial someone. However, I don't use it with bluetooth very often.
Dave
It's doing the same thing for me when I try to call a contact, if I don't say @ mobile or @ work. If I say @ mobile or @ work then it works pretty good. The deal breaker for me is that while using it if I hit the call/end button on my bluetooth it just shuts off the bluetooth earpiece and doesn't hang up the call like the standard dialer does.
So I use GrooveIP to make calls on my phone, and I've been using it on the tablet at home - problem is, I hate the way groove manages contacts (it doesnt really). The OTHER problem is that, beacuse I just have a wifi tab, my contacts app and google voice WONT let me dial contacts directly from those apps. Is there any way to make it so that my tablet recognizes groove IP as a phone and lets me dial from GV and the contacts app?
Anyone? =/
Skype? O-o
No, i mean like - the tab 10.1 doesn't recoginze calling as an action - you can't use "call" as a voice action, you cant click on numbers in the contacts app to call someone. I'm trying to find a way around that. >_>;

Currently that's a little challenging :\ I haven't figured a way around that apart from skype. There was a way to add a Phone.apk module that would allow it, but was still WIP

Thats what I figured needed to happen - has there been any progress on that? =/
Actually, to clarify a bit, the effect I'm going for:
In the contacts app included in the tab 10.1, when you open a contact and click on a phone number, nothing happens. I'd like to be able to click on a number and have the option to call it via GrooveIP. ANYTHING to have that kind of functionality would be nice.

Unfortunately GrooveIP hasn't added that feature to enable it as a default/optional choice, Like how when you have messaging, and you download GoSMS, it asks you which you prefer to use. Likewise GrooveIP has to offer that function, or it probably does? But the Phone.apk isn't detected hence it doesn't give the option?
I agree the option the OP speaks of would be nice.. I wote GrooveIP an email asking if this is possible from their end..
For some reason any text message opens in the messaging app only, any way to at least have an option to use Google Voice?

if your saying use google voice in text messaging app then you can change keyboard to google voice
if your saying for google voice to read your text messages then i dont think thats posible yet,
excuse me for misunderstanding what you wrote doesnt make much sense to me
Sorry, I should clarify... I'm trying to make Google Voice as a "messaging" option on my phone. For example, if the phone recognizes a number and gives me an option to call or text, I'd like to be able to text via Google Voice; right now only the messenger app opens.

i dont think that can be done on a z2' i think a nexus can because its got that google now direct acesss
My old Samsung could do it, the phone just recognizes a second option for messaging (similar to having multiple browsers and clicking a hyperlink). Just not sure about now. Maybe if I uninstall/install?...

Yo have to say "send text to xx" and then google voice ask you, what you want to say in the message.
I´m using it a lot and it works great

If you're up to KitKat, the option to have Google Voice as a default SMS app has been removed......GV and Hangouts are supposed to be merged at some point, eliminating the need for separate apps.
Is there any way to add question tags/commas/etc when you are dictating the reply via voice to sms or whatsapp messages to the g watch?

Just say what you want it to enter. For example, to have it write "Hello there, this is a test!" you would say "hello there comma this is a test exclamation point".
It must be the language then because I tried to say that in spanish and didn't work.
Anyone else have horrible experience with the voice to text function on the watch? I try to respond to text and it just completely gets the message wrong..I use my phone and say the exact same thing and it understands perfectly.
Also is there a text limit? It seems I can only do a "quick reply" of maybe a sentence and the watch stops listening and just sends it.. Even of I'm still talking
Right now when OK GOOGLE it can't figure out what I'm saying but if I go straight to the messaging or hangouts app on the watch it has no issues understanding me. Really strange

I've experienced the short "limit" that you mentioned, but mine voice to text transcription is usually either accurate or it just does a working circle thing.

Have you tried OK GOOGLE today? Lot of folks on reddit are complaining about Android wear in general recording the voice at high speeds. It only does this when doing okay Google or swiping to the voice command screen. It's okay when replying to messages.
