I'm seriously thinking of buying the 5" version of the media player BUT I noticed it comes with FROYO?? Has there been any official upgrade OR some kind of stable ROM for it? A simple response and maybe a point in the right direction for the ROM would be AWESOME and much appreciated. THANKS!
I just bought one (USA) and it came with gingerbread.

I don't know where you got that information, but the US 5.0 has Gingerbread, and there is a custom ROM as well in the development section of this forum.

No the international/Europe version came with Froyo 2.2 as did mine when i brought it (Uk) but there is now a official update for Gingerbread by Samsung for this device
the USA version came shipped with Gingerbread from day one
I need advice about which galaxy player to buy? The 4.0 looks nice, but maybe I should wait for the 4.2, or get a 5.0? I'm confused.
Either 4.2 will come ready with gingebread but hasnt got much hardware improvements so theyre equal.
Do you think the 4.2 will get ice cream sandwich?

Yes, if you read the other (new) thread about the 4.2 device, you can see that it will be launched with android 2.3
I got the 5.0 because I already have a 4.3" phone.
The 4.0 has a better sound chipset and replacable battery. The 5.0 has a bigger screen and seems to have slightly more developer attention.

30 March 2012 .ICS
The latest Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) firmware update has been made available for owners of certain Android devices, including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone and Motorola Xoom tablet. Owners of these devices in the UK and US can now download Android 4.0.4 over the air. Google has promised to extend the update to owners of other Android devices in the coming weeks.
Google claims the latest build will deliver “stability improvements, better camera performance, smoother screen rotation, improved phone number recognition and more.”
Tomorrow.
hope its rolled out very soon and some real improvement done to the ICS battery drain..

Well there is no real mystery. AOKP etc has been on 4.0.4 for ages so you can easily read about it.
Major battery drain on Sammy firmware in my experience is in the bloatware and exchange.
If Samsung move to 4.0.4 and slap the bloatware on top what do you think the outcome will be?

I m sure that this is going to happen soon. Here at XDA we have some very skilled and knowledgeable developers who are equivalent to Google Engineers. :highfive:

i hope will be released android 4.0 or 4.1 official for pocket
Rather than creating threads which will go down un noticed, contact some developers. make a positive approach guys posting threads here won't attract any devs

I don't think Android 4.0 will ever come out on GP as it is a low-end device!

Hello. This is my first post about galaxy pocket and, surprisingly, nobody has talked about its 2MP camera ...
With its powerful 830Mhz core, is it possible to improve video recording to 640x480 @30fps... or at least, 480x360 @20fps or more if possible?

Sorry to tell you this but FXP said they might drop development for Neo at CM10. 4.2 is CM10.1 and they would only do it IF there were not many changes to the coding.
Yea even I read it in the other thread....

Android 4.2 for Xperia 2011 maybe devs can help emwno.
since long I've been on XDA and am pretty sure that we will definitely flash 4.2 more or less next month
Our devs brought us the impossible SENSE ROM ,then why not the 4.2
keep trusting them

you are right bro...but even JB isnt fully functional on our devices...and compare it to GB...i have downgraded to GB and loving it.
JB will perform at its full majesty only if sony provide the devs its latest kernel sources for JB...and that seems difficult to me.
for now...JB seems only a small upgrade in performance to cm9...thats my view...others' might differ.
Look how bad Android 4.2 is. Even custom ROM developers make ROMs with less bugs.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/13d8ed/google_cancels_december_in_android_42/c72wv35
4.2 was rushed.
Lock screen widgets feel like beta ware at best. The clock app, despite the welcome additions of the timer and stopwatch, does not follow standard UI guidelines and looks totally out of place. The quick settings tiles should just be conventional toggles, and the 'Me' tile is useless on phones where you can't switch profiles. Now this? It's a minor oversight, but this is not the Android we have come to know since ICS. This is not up to Google's standards.
They should have just shipped the gesture keyboard, group messaging, camera updates and Gmail pinch to zoom. I have half a mind to downgrade to 4.1 and just use flash-able zips to give myself that experience.
