hi every one
i actually ported to v7.1 and am from A.p(india)
so here i get a very low data speed so i wont 3g but my phone doesn't connect to 3G
it always show EDGE(E) but when i go into original stock rom i can find the network mode in wirless settings so could any one tel me how make a network mode or how to connect my device to 3G
its 3G compatable sim guys

be Clear ?
And For connecting 3G make sure you activated 3G Pack and Registered to 3G then only you will get to see 3G icon
and one more thing their is no these type of setting to use 3G in any ROM
there is about for using only 2G .
So Finally check your 3G pack or contact your Service center because i had used 3G no issue about ROM.

make sure you are doing it correctly..
go to wireless and network settings, go to mobile network..
'use only 2g network' should not be ticked..
and in network preference, choose "GSM/WCDMA (WCDMA preferred)" option or "WCDMA only" option
to see if 3g network is working or not, check the status of 'mobile network type'. it should be UMTS in about phone.
if still doesn't help then try any other ROM (other than stock) and see if in that ROM 3g network is working or not.. !

How can I easily turn off 3g and on 2g on android 2.3.3? I'm on Wolfbreak's ROM which works perfectly, but when I'm not actively using my phone I would like to set it to use 2g only.
When I googled I found this way, but I'm hoping for a more easy solution:
1. Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2. Phone informatie
3. Set Preferred Network Type:
- GSM only = 2g
- WCDMA preferred = 3g
Does anyone know a more easy way to set my phone to 2g?
Hi there, go to settings ----> wireless & networks -----> Mobile Networks -----> Network Mode. Hope that helps.

It helps, a lot easier! ;-) In previous Android version you could turn off the 3g box, I couldn't find that one!

I read everywhere that since 2.3.3 switching between 2g and 3g is not possible anymore, all the switch apps only place shortcuts to the settings menu.
The only one that really has this feature is a CM ROM.
Is there any way on a rooted non CM ROM to place a widget that can switch between 2g and 3g just by pressing it?
I'm from Pune,India & i have Samsung Galaxy ace GT-S5830 and i use Airtel sim card..Recently i activated airtel 3g in my cell by recharging with 101 RS/- but problem is Even after waiting for 4 hrs i still get Edge signal..
Now i tried the same 3g activated airtel sim in my Samsung Galaxy 3 bt here i immediately got 3g signal in same area!!I called customer care bt still i didnt got any help went to Airtel Relationship Center but still same repsonse..
Finally someone told me that there might be problem in my cell,but for that i chked Idea 3g in my cell in same area .. and i was shoked to see it worked i got 3g signal in same cell Even vadofone 3g worked.So one thing for sure problem is with Sim not with cell..
So i Wanted to know the Solution for this..or will i have to take a new Airtel sim again,which i really dont want to do bcozz i really like my current cell number

Check your Apn settings. That has been spread all over this forum with the same problem

Apn : airtelgrps.com
rest all fields blank!!! and this settings almost everyone does for 3g even Customer care told me the same but still no Success...

In Samsung galaxy ace there is no Network mode option once u go in Mobile network there is an option named "Use only 2g network " which for using 3g we just have to Untick it!!
In the latest update in India which is DDKQ5, there is network mode.. pls check my screenshot

Hi I am from india.and I just recently got this device unlocked from london.i used it with airtel with no problem as internet settings are directly provided by them so I can use them with ease.but when I insert this bsnl 3g sim no access point are their.but I knew how to do after adding apn no 2g or 3g was there.i mean no internet connection?i called customer care but they said my phone is not supported.wtf pleat help.i have enabled my data in settings.

Please I am dying for 3g
I am using GIO as wireless access point for my notebook, but in 90 % of cases when I am calling someone or someone is calling me it automatically switches to 2G and of course dropping internet connection.
When using it as AP its always connected to charger.
There is no option in stock rom to make it stay at 3G , there is only option to force 2G.
Was trying to uncover "secret" menu using "any cut" application but no luck with it.
I am using stock 2.3.4 Android , was trying 2.3.6 but there is no option to force 3G either.
I saw there is such menu to force 3G on SGS2 / SGN but not on GIO
How can I force Samsung Galaxy GIO to stay on 3G while talking with someone ?
It could be that GIO not be able to hold both, 3G and phone connection at the same time if you calling some one...Im not sure

It could hold both at same time , because sometimes it stays on 3G when talking and using it as AP, so have internet and can talk normally, but there is some stupid default setting that tells GIO to switch to 2G most of the times.

hello to all i have recently purchase a tab but there is a problem with the internet connection when ever i plug my dongle it only catches 3G network
not 2G i have tried to go to setting but i can't find anything i have found there is a option in access point to connect with ehrpd network and lte network there is nothing like 2g or Gprs help me to find it guys i need it !
i am on ics
