Is it normal for my neo v battery to drain this much when using mobile data? I lose 1% every minute or so... Like now.. I just got 100% charged and after a few sec of pulling off my charger, the battery starts to drain 1% every minute that i am using data but when the phone is on standby battery is alright.
Im on a custom rom- uhd 5.0.1 and my kernel is stock from 4.0.4...bl locked

No, it's not. It's a problem I encountered too after about 1,5 year of using the phone with dozen different ROMs. By no means it's normal.

With packet data ON, that's how efficiently the battery lives. I hope you guys calibrate the battery after a new flash. ( Y)

I always have my packet data on and for about a year I never went over 10%/hour while browsing net outside of WiFi range.
In my case I narrowed the problem down basically to "screen on" state. Suddenly it multiplied power consumption even with packet data and GSM off (level of brightness doesn't matter, simply being on did this).
It persisted through ROM changes (reverting back to stock, different ICS, GB and JB ROMs). I'm not alone in this, as I found dozens of similar cases all over the net, but no solution. Some suggest hardware malfunction, like motherboard short-circuiting.
@halfblack :Well maybe I'm mistaken. But that's normal on some ROMs. My bad! Never faced such an issue.
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm sorry if I sounded aggressive. It's just that inability to deal with this problem is frustrating.
And you are surely right about some ROMs, especially ICS-based, having minor or major battery issues. UHD should, in my case does, have it under control though.

there's a lot you can do, either get a new custom rom, try a different kernel, go for stock based ones, it's always good to start there. check whether you have gprs or data activated which usually causes drain. how much your battery is being used also dictates towards the drain. if all the above is ok, the kernel might be the issue for rapid drain
get screenies so we can guide you better...

The stock roms and stock based roms are not at all battery friendly...I'm on moProject42 4.2.2 and my battery hardly drains even if I leave wifi on without switching on wifi optimization. My battery drain is about 1% every 7-8 mins if wifi and screen are on.. I always have around 180mb free ram (which I think almost no one gets after 7-8 hrs of use in ICS based stock roms), use SmartassH3 CPU governor on just 806MHz and still don't face slightest lag in any game I play (Temple run, subway surfers, MotoGP)
The point is there is loads of bloatware running in such roms that battery drain is normal..
Most of the stock based roms and stock roms lack lots of battery and performance tweaks...It's time to switch to cyanogenmod

as far as i remember, ultimate hd 5.0.1 has offline charging...but if you are getting a bootloop then i'd recommend a re-install or if u've installed a custom rom then do the same..but if it still doesn't work then try flashing a different rom...
A word of advice..
1. CM , AOSP and AOKP roms are under continuous process of beta testing..So dont judge I'm on aokp 4.1.2 for now and wifi is still buggy but i can manage(i mean android 4.4 is out now)
2. Try roms based on stock but are completely stripped and are still customizable..eg. JJ Hybrid 3.3 rom. Ultimate HD is very good but apparently a lil too much for our neo v Happy Flashing!:good:

Lipol batteries loose charge capacity eventually after like 10000 charge cycles or something. Only poorly coded/alpha roms will have a serious effect on your battery life hope this helps

I was just teasing buddy
& getting to the point, we can add some battery tweaks to a custom rom than the stock rom. But we have to keep in mind that the less battery consuming means less performance. For instance, we can reduce wifi scan interval, so the battery life will be somewhat tweaked. But alas! Then users will complain that there is a issue with wifi, network finding time is very slow in this rom, etc, etc.
So the conclusion is, if you need a rom to be good or perfect, we'll need everything to be balanced. So everyone should be happy. So the battery life maybe same in every rom ( depending on usage) .

If you go to Settings -> Battery - what does it list as using the most battery power?
Edit: You can downgrade to GB if a full factory format/reset doesn't work - you may be another unfortunate recipient of the Android OS wakelock bug.

Skip everything.
ICS sucks on battery life if you are using the stock ICS ROM.
I suggest you revert back to Ginger Bread or Get a new ROM developed by the Xda chefs in the android development section according to your preference.
THis will atleast extend your battery by 20% of the existing performance.
But if you prefer to stick on with ICS, then i suggest you upgade your battery to a higher capacity.
i.e 1900 mAh.

My battery was suffering, not really bad but bad enough to notice it was worse than gb. I have since factory reset my phone (before i upgraded to ics without wiping data etc) and i have noticed major improvements! I am using the 1900 mh battery which helps as well. To sum up a factory reset helped me!
Nice pic btw!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Well one things for sure the factory reset has made a huge difference. I used to use juice defender and battery still didn't last longer than 12 hours and that's on GB than once i updated to ICS battery only lasted 4 to 6 hours depending on use. Since the reset i have had a whopping 24 hours with moderate use. So i defo recommend it. Thank you gee and thanks everyone for your input x

I have major battery problems since ICS update also, (network free, unbranded sgs2) ...... am i right in thinking a simple factory reset could make my battery last three times longer.
Potentially, seems to have helped many so far! It did me!

How much screen time are you using? If you use all day, yes it will drain very fast, especially 3G/4G Data.
For me, I get at max of 3 hours of screen time, and amazing Deep Sleep when the screen is turned off. I am using HydrogenICS, with Thoravukk kernel.
If you're thinking of getting an extra battery, look up on Amazon or Ebay. Anker i9100 Battery. Good quality stuff.
So everyone who's been experiencing battery issues should factory reset?
What will the factory reset to since I have a custom ROM installed?

I am using the stock ICS ch, after turning off "downloadagent & facebook app" my battery life has doubled.
I'm using the XSX Kernel with the MIUI ROM I'm getting much more than I used to on the ICS. I'm still new to the all these CPU governors and stuff. But yeah an improvement is what I'm seeing and I'm finally satisfied with the device.
Kernel :XSX v3.3
ROM MIUI 2. 27 or something [the newest]
Governor: Smartassv2
Do try it
I'm using MIUI ROM with advanced stock kernel and I can tell you my battery life is much greater than ICS.

Hi, i'm also 15 yr old, btw i'm from Serbia(if u know where is it...), if u using cf kernel it has a wifi bug so i suggest u to install siyah or dorimanx kernel... I have to say that ROMs are all about personal preference. Imo you should test out various ROMS to see what's best for you...
That being said, I'm currently using Cm7 on my I777 and it has great battery life (although I suspect it has something to do with turning the second core off and using Siyah GB.)
For Jellybean my preferred ROM is Super Nexus... I got pretty good battery on that one too!

How many battery cycles did you let the battery settle for? You should give your battery at least 3 cycles before you judge the life of the battery after you flash something. You can also try CPU spy from the play store to see if your device is deep sleeping. Also try better battery stats to see if you have any wakelocks.

Battery friendly.?
In my experience 4.1.2 as mg4 was the most stable and fast stock version. After that including 4.1.2 and 4.3 stocks all were laggy and had less battery performance. However, I couldn't find any aosp based custom rom work flawless or at least stable. Each one has its own bugs. Slimkat doesn't support exfat, liquidsmooth was very very laggy and cm has some fc issues etc. As a consequence at least stock one is the stable one.

Slimkat doesn't support exfat, liquidsmooth was very very laggy and cm has some fc issues etc. As a consequence at least stock one is the stable one.

okay thanks
I was on 4.1.2 since i bought my s3, i decided to try 4.3 and i switched to Android Revolution HD 51 in combination with Boeffla kernel, and i must say performance is way much better and also the battery life, with 4.1 i got somewhere around 4h of screen on time, and with 4.3 i get close to 5h of screen on time, also to mention over the night battery drops only 1% if wifi on and 0% with airplane mode on, preety impressive, you just have to find your way to customize it for daily use

Sadly I couldn't find a kernel that helped me in my battery life. Brightness is always on 0... And I don't have that many apps.. I seriously don't know what's going on

Do u have alot of wakelocks? Dun set brightness to auto. They tend to make the brightness more than wat u nid. Manually control the brightness.

No my wake locks seem normal though there was a suspicious one, I don't remember it's name exactly, but I'll tell when I find it out, only thing I know that it's audio related but I don't think that's it... Other than that battery just melts leaving me with 1-2 hours screen time (on stock 4.1.2) I'll try flash a different rom and I'll tell you what changed
