it says "it looks like the installation of BusyBox was not successful. Try installing to a different location, that may resolve the issue." It is set to install to /system/xbin. what should i do? i have also tried installing it as /system/bin too. that comes up with the same error, and if i try and do it twice my phone restarts but it's still not installed. Please help me!

Did either of you figure it out? I have a different phone, but same error.

Why not downloading applets of busybox manually and installing them into system/xbin and setting permissions?

Okay guys I'm really lost here.

Stock 2.1 -> Rooted that with Ryan's OCLF
Did Lag Fix V1 cause V2 didn't work..
Everything ran..and ran... then that OTA update came while I was at school
It kept installing then restarting and looping itself...Finally I believe it installed and stopped asking me to reinstall.
My phone shows it has the Update, yet my phone isnt rooted anymore...Yet I still have the lag fix installed. I tried running the update.zip in recovery and it says signature failure. I try booting into clockwork to apply that update ROM that is posted and nothing happens. I hit boot into Recovery with ROM Manager and nothing happens.. I'm really confused..It's like I have partially rooted things like Lagfix on yet I'm not rooted and I cant root my phone ??
Anyone got an idea?
Thank you everyone.
Um, I think you're confused about what root really is. Being rooted just means that you have permissions (and the applications necessary) to modify protected areas of the OS. Even if you lost root access, the lag fix remains because the filesystem modifications to put it in place are already done. The extra commands it adds are run by the system itself during boot up, which of course has root access. It's not like an app that needs to request root access via Superuser every time it runs.
I'm not sure what has actually happened to your phone, but I would recommend rooting the old-fashioned way, via advanced commands, so that you don't have to deal with any recovery issues. If that doesn't work, you may have to flash back to factory stock and start over again.

Flash CMW recovery via Odin. Then do the following..
adb shell (you should have the # prompt, if not su)
cd /system/xbin (or /system/bin if your files are there)
chmod 4755 su
chmod 4755 busybox
all done.
Thankyou very much brandon

BusyBox Installer Problem

I've just got round to re-rooting my X8 after having to use SEUS to restore my phone back to the stock 2.1.1 after bricking it with a theme install that went wrong and keep getting this error when trying to install BusyBox.
Root Access Denied!
BusyBox Installer was not allowed root access!
This may be an issue with Superuser, try opening Superuser and making sure that you are allowing us root access.
If you are still having an issue, please email [email protected] with details of the issue and log.
I've never encountered any problems installing BusyBox in the past. Does anyone know what the problem might be that is causing the BusyBox Installer to not allow me to install BusyBox?

which busybox version are u using ?
yeah... it happen to me too,, it caused by the rom[SU error-but somebody just fix it already],, wat rom u use, not every rom support newer busybox,, dont know why.. sometimes will get loop sonyericson logo,, after i updated with newer busybox, i use xcyaogengingerbread V3 for 5 a week now.. even still give random reboot[not to many],,,
We shall not install latest busybox or update it!
If we install latest busybox just change to old version 1.7.1 that should be ok.
Rolandh, you asked same thing in Development section.... Jesus! Read posts there first!

[Q] My phone is rooted but some apps says its not

Im experiancing this problem for a long time now... I have a galaxy s phone with darky's ROM v10.0 RC final. evidently it is rooted but some apps don't recognized it as a rooted phone. first, when i ran the superuser it fails and said com.noshufou.android.su is failed to work...and then theres a notificaTION that su binary is outdated but i tried to update it a million times but always failing, tried this su update fixer but still negative results. downloaded busybox installers the first one also failed to install busybox saying the directory where i want to put it has a problem, tried to put it to other option directory but still negative. the other busybox installer says that my phone is not rooted. how come this happens when titanium backup recognized my rooted phone. im running out of bright ideas here (if what Ive done can be classified as a bright ones hahaha) please someone help me...

[Q] Root problem

I tried like 3-4 different app for rooting none of them works.
Problem is it always says NO SU binary, and I've already tried few apps that should like fix that, but it doesn't work.
Currently I have 4.1.1. on factory reset.
Any tips how to do proper root?

If you have one of the newer versions of TWRP and you try to exit TWRP without having root installed I thought it would tell you and offer to install it for you ?

Busybox

Hi all!
I have a Sony Xperia Z Ultra c8633, i already rooted it. I just figured out if i am rooted almost all the time i will need the busybox to do some magic with my phone, so i decided to install it, but somehow i CAN'T !
I don't know what the problem, when i rooted my phone i did not touched any system files or did anything else than root it, and when i try to install to system/bin or system/xbin i cant, i tried a couple of versions of busybox installer
but none of them works, even when i tried to install older versions of busybox the installing failed again. please help me out.
Kind Regards: Mujus38! :good:
