APN edits, removals and new settings on S3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, I need help. I have the I9300 running Temasek's CM11 ROM V6 and want to edit the APNs in the settings. Currently MMS doesn't work with any of the settings listed. I can't edit any of them and I can't delete any of them. What's worse is I think because there's so many already there I can't even create new APNs. What can I do to get rid of these useless APNs?
So far I tried a 3rd party app but that failed because third party editing is now blocked on 4.0 upwards. So I'm stuck, without a service I'm paying for.
Any help is much appreciated thank you.

Sounds like a rom issue, ask in your rom thread. Else go back to stock.

[Q] Vanilla 2.2 MMS- can't seem to get it to work

The title says it all. I cannot get mms to work on Vanilla 2.2. Any Rom really. The only one it seems to work on is Stock 2.1. I've run various versions of KaosFroyo, Tazz Froyo, Nonsensikal, and the Sense Froyo Roms. None of them will work with mms on my phone for some reason.
I do however remember a while back that mms did work when I ran a version of KaosFroyo. Must have been something like v20 or somewhere around there. I've tried the methods of flashing and saving different apns and nothing works. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I dislike Sense. It's too laggy for me. Any help please?

Bad battery life is common especially if your flashing a lot if Roms ...try recalibrating your battery there's a forum that walks u through it. I feel your frustration I had no MMS when I upgraded to 2.2 (cricket network) but I tried a lot of stuff and finally figured it out ..I also had bad battery life but I figured out a work around by disabling 3G after every use. I basically read a lot of forums and experimented with different things to get MMS working.

I've been on the same ROM for about a month now and no dice. I don't know what to do. Battery isn't terrible, it just doesn't seem to be what it used to be. I like sharing pictures with my friends and family while I'm out and about, so mms is crucial for me.

I agree. Make a backup of your current ROM and then load up 2.1 again and make sure the settings are correct. After that do a fresh flash of Vanilla Tazz and then delete Telephony.db from /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/. Then delete the MMS.apk from /system/app and then try installing the attached Mms.apk and reboot your phone. Let me know if this works

Still a no go. Sigh. Are you sure I'm supposed to remove telephony.db and not mmssms.db?
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
You can do both..Try doing both and removing the MMS.apk and install the one I gave you again
Still doesn't work. Great.... thanks for the help though. I really appreciate it.

Thats crazy. One more thing to try is deleting the mmssms.db and telephony.db but leave the stock mms.apk. Also make sure the build.prop has this ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-verizon-us
ro.com.google.locationfeatures=1
ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=310012
ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=Verizon
If that doesnt work than I have no idea whats wrong.

Tried the last method and it says all that already. Still a no go. I think my phone is just broken. Thanks for bouncing ideas with me though.

Don't be sorry. You were really the only one that provided some possible solutions. Looks like it's Stock 2.1 or a new phone for me.

I like xtrSense myself. You can download ADW or LauncherPro and disable sense and it isn't bad.

Ok ... for your MMS problem ... I was having issues with randomly being able to send/not send MMS/Email/Pic messages ....
I tried all the backup/restore/APN/options and was still having issues.
In the Telephony database, I had 2 bad rows of data, one of which semi replicated some of the pathways used for my MMS messages. I downloaded SQLite editor ( I think by Speed Software, same people that make Root explorer ).... I was able to manual delete the bad rows of data from the database. I did a new APN backup, and the bad rows were gone.
TADA!!
The SQLite editor is available on the market, and it costs like $3 or $4 ...

NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND!!!
***
I need to correct myself ... after I deleted the row of data with the "unnamed" APN, nothing happened when sending MMS ....
***
I did a restore ... went back into the telephony.db :: "carriers" table and gave the APN a name ...
In my case, I had two rows of data referencing Verizon .... ( using the www.vtext.com address ) .... I left the regular one for Verizon, but the unnamed row I gave an alias and called it "VZW" ....
did a backup of the APNs, tested through multiple messaging apps, text, mms, picture, and reply to MMS, and all have worked without any problems.
I hope all this makes sense .... PM if you have any problems ( If you haven't already given up on the possibility of getting it working ) ...

MMS Square Boxes?

Okay so, I can receive MMS, but when I press download I get this box, anyone having this problem?
EDIT; for those telling me to fully wipe and stuff, I already did that.
bump
Check and or change your apns. If it is not set up correctly it will not send/receive mms. It will receive regular text usually. Look up the thread about apns. If you cant get it to work pm me and I will send what my settings are.

Here's one thread about apn settings.

[UPDATED 5/22][AT&T DATA FIX] AT&T's HSPA+ APN's
you gave absolutely no information about your situation. What Rom are you on? What kernel? Have u checked in both those threads to see if it's an issue with anyone else? Do you use the stock sms app or third party? Did u freeze the stock sms app if you are using third party? How long has this been happening? If you don't give any details how do you expect anyone to help u resolve the issue.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 9 on S2 won't send mms. Any fix?

Alright so here is the down low.
I have a galaxy s2 with Rogers and it will send mms on the stock rom. Now I upgraded to CM9 and with the deafult apn and even with other apns I still can't send mms. Any ideas how to fix this?
Mms still exists? Wow...
I would try wiping the cache again and trying to send a message using a third party app.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Try a different modem and check your APN settings once more, just in case. Otherwise, try another ROM and see if the problem persists.

Need Stock LGSettings3_1

I'm not entirely sure this is the best place to ask, but could someone give me the Stock 4.1.2 LGSettings3_1.apk/.odex files from /system/app
Thanks in advance
Do I dare ask why? Also do u need the settings provider apk n the easy settings apk?
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
If you want to send those too, that'd be great.
And its because after I cleared my cache (I flashed a boot animation) the EasySettings won't open. However, now I can't even open the regular settings
I guess if you have any other suggestions (short of wiping) then I'm looking for that too.

[Q] Trans Nebula Tab Rom Question

Can I run this rom on my tmobile note 2.
I dont think it's possible unless there is a patch for tmobile to apply elsewhere. The nebula tab rom is built off verizon base so I doubt it would be possible unless someone makes a port for other carriers

Not trying to hijack your thread but i have a question also about the nebula tab. My clock keeps force closing. The stock clock apk. I tried the recommended DPI for stock apps and no dice. Checked Permissions also nothing. Cleaned app data nada.
Any Thoughts?

What did you set the dpi to for the clock? I know my clock is working for and I'm even running the UI switcher from moon rom. Are you running anything in xpoawd like thw tablet ui? That was messig with my phone qhwn I was changing rhw dpi earlier.

just flash it like any regular ROM. I have a tmobile note 2 running Verizon trans-nebula rom 2.0b. you might need to flash a tmobile radio after to get data working. I didn't have to
