New 10.1.3-I9300 Installed / Problem To Restore My Data - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I'm new to cyanogenmod and just installed CM 10.1.3 (Android 4.2.2) following the heimdall/OSX guide but I'm having some problems to restore my data from the previous Samsung 4.3 installation.
I took a backup before installing cyanogenmod by using the Android SDK adb command
./adb backup -apk -shared -all -f backupname.ab
but that seems to have taken a full system backup as a single file and not possible to recover any of my files individually..
Unfortunately I didn't had my phone contacts to be synced with a gmail accounts as I wanted to keep them separate for synchronising with my email contacts but this doesn't seem to be an option with the current cyanogenmod version, you can't create a local contact on the phone but the any new contact you add must be part of an online account like gmail..
Giving the current circustances Is there an easy way I could restore all my files (app settings/contacts/photos) to my phone ? Can some one help me and tell me how ? My thught is to restore the previous 4.3 Android version from Samsung and root my phone to take single backups using Titanium backup but I don't know how well this will work ...
couple of more questions :
1) Is there an easy way to restore my phone Samsung ROM (and data) previously as it was before installing cyanogenmod with the adb backup file ?
2) Can you point me to a good howto in order to root my cyanogenmod (OSX preferable)
3) Once I have cyanogenmod configured will all my data, what' the best way to keep backups ? is the adb command usefull in that case ?
Sorry for the many questions.
Thanks in advance,
Nicolas.

Its all in the Faqs and Guides
Return to stock for warranty thread

Thanks JJEgan, I'm also trying adbextractor for the recovery.
Any suggestions on point 2 & 3 ?

[Q] gti9300 efs problem

hi guys.
this is my first post. first off thanks to all of you out there who have helped me root 3 different devices and install custom roms on 2 of them.
my third device is my gti9300 phone.
i have rooted and installed twrp but before i install a custom rom i made a back up of my efs files using ktool. after backing up the files i ran the check.
under sdcard/efs.img found section everything checks out 100%
under sdcard/efs.tar.gz found i get the message /!\nv_data.bin NOT FOUND in back up!!!
in my files/device storage the files have been created
could any tell me if the back up i have created will work. dont want to flash a rom until i am sure
the phone works fine and the emei number appears as it should in the phones status menu
hope someone can help
thanks
If in doubt then make other backups, philz recovery custom backup, copy and paste efs contents etc.
You can't have too many backups of your efs, store them on your pc and cloud storage.
IMEI
More than one backup of EFS is best .Save one on your PC .
thanks for the advice guys.

[Q] Titanium backup not backing up app just data on 5.02

Ok guys here's my problem on KK with a sdcard mod I was able to use TB no problems. Yesterday I installed a rooted version of 5.02(lollipop) onto my device. Everything appears to work perfectly and root is fine.
Now originally I thought TB could read/write to the original TB location on external sdcard but my morning schedules failed. OK i thought and after some research I found a setting in the the setting backup location to allow lollipop compatibility.
But what I have found since is only data seems to be getting backed up no apk at all :/
pics attached show what i mean
pic 1 is what happened to an app I tried to backup in lollipop
pic 2 what the apps should look like taken in KK
pic 3 shows PSN app backed up in lollipop
pic 4 shows the backup of remote play taken in KK
Have I missed something in a setting or is lollipop screwing me around?
Any help would be grately appreciated, Ive been unable to find anything like this in google searches and I wanna get it ironed out before making anymore backups.
anyone?
Tried mount name space in SU settings but made no difference Still not sure whats screwing up.
To anyone using TB on lollipop I'm assuming you used the "create rooted firmware" method of installation. But may I ask how u used TB to restore and currently backup?
Did u use a Premade backup zip for reinstalling or standard batch method from app?
Have you tried to make a backup of a user app since reinstalling, does it backup correctly with market link etc?
Did you have to change any SU settings or TB settings for proper function?
From what I can gather TB can't find the installation path of the apk so doesn't back it up and loses the market links etc.
EDIT: I appear to of solved the problem by using sd card fix on platform xml instead of using document provider in setting up the storage folder.
Hello ? I've same problem but I'm still unable to solve. Could please share how exactly you sorted out the problem. Thanks in advance

me too
On ti backup I changed the location where it found my backups (on SD) and used "Document Provider" since ti says it's recommended for devices 5.0 and up or something. After that you just have to select the root of your SD card (not ti backup folder) and then select the ti backup folder. I don't know why ti didn't do this by default since it knows what my android version is but now it works and I'm happy.
edit: btw I know it's an old thread but it was one of the first results on google so I'm replying here.

How to create a full backup of an Android Tablet.

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here so I am sorry if I posted in the wrong forum.
I've been struggling for days now and didn't get the best way to do it. I have around 140 Tablets that should be programmed and configured the same for a School. I searched for best ways to make a full backup of the one device and restore them to other with no luck yet.
First the Tablet is Chinese
Name & Model: Eken E902
Build Number: astar_m900-eng 4.4.2 KVT49L 20160322 test-keys
Kernel Version: 3.4.39
Firmware is exdroid4.4.2_r2-a33-v2.1
O/S version is Kitkat 4.4..2
I tried adb backup however it only creates a 1KB file "adb backup -all -f C:\filenameichoose.ab"
When I boot into recovery mode all I see it
- reboot system now
- apply update from ADB
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- apply update from internal storage
- apply update from external storage
- apply update from cache
Fastloader is locked and couldn't find a way to unlock it. I installed Kingroot App (kingroo dot net) to root the device. Then installed Titanium Backup Pro to create a backup. However when restoring I didn't get the result I was looking for some Apps are missing there app data and other apps seach as Google Play Service where not updated. Plus some apps where moved to SD as installation also this wasn't configured, also i didn't backup the system files as I was able to change only the boot logo and not the initlogo or animation also this wasn't backed up and restored. That means Titanium Backup pro will help you half the way it should be.
I tried Helium backup didn't work. I installed so many PC softwares also with no luck to get the thing i'm looking for. So I thought of creating my own rom based on one tablet and flash it on the other tablets however this is risky and we might lose the tablets.
So please advice me of the best way and best tools for my request, thank you in advanced.

Back up apps with data and settings

Hello all,
after trying several roms at the moment, it bothers me more and more to install all the necessary apps again, set them up, log them in etc..
There is Titanium Backup etc. but I read that these have problems with Android 12/13. Is there an app that can help me here?
I imagine it like this: Install on existing system, select apps, then it will create a file with the apps, settings etc. In the new Rom, I install the app and say, please restore backup X. Then everything is there again as usual, without reconfiguration etc..
Thanks and greetings
Use ADB.
