Code:
I take no responsability if your phone crashes, burns, explodes, kills your daughter/son/pet/wife or starts a thermonuclear war, when using my ROM,I try to do my best to keep things safe, but one never knows
So,here it is
A really close to AOSP experience with Linaro,AOSP Openmaster,CodeAuroraForum[Qualcomm guys] optimizations
Built from Linaro KitKat sources, with their special ARM optimized toolchain,
With load of optimizations in a wide variety of projects(and more are to come)
Compiled with Google's Kernel for MSM(planning to switch to a custom kernel with more and more optimizations) to have a perfectly working build and very stable.
Includes ART fixes to allow the usage of previously incompatible apps at install time, however there are some apps which require calls to dalvik specific code(e.g. Titanium Backup which will continue to not work and there's not much I can do till developers update their code)
ROM comes without gapps(obviously),feel free to download the ones you like most.
Install instructions for EXT4:
Reboot to recovery
Make a backup
Flash my rom
Flash gapps if you want
Reboot and enjoy
If rom gets stuck at boot(or crashes without a reason),
Reboot to recovery(hint: hold power button for 10 seconds and phone will reboot)
Do a factory reset
Reboot and enjoy
Install instructions for F2FS:
Nothing to see here,yet.
Download:
Beta 1.0
Nightlies:
AndroidFileHost link
For more infos go to linaro site
I plan to build builds almost daily(Only if there are relevant changes and if I have time to build)
I accept any feature request, both for rom and kernel(and I'm open to switch to any kernel you might want,as long as a majority requests it)
Source code
Source code which isn't 100% linaro will be on LinaroDroid github account
Kernel source code is in here [URL="https://github.com/LinaroDroid/android_kernel_lge_hammerhead/tree/kk4.4"]LinaroDroid kernel/lge/hammerhead

Kang at will and feel free to comment submit pull requests
Scheduled features:
F2FS - Testing stage
Navbar customization - WIP
I am currently seeking for contributors to the project, anyone is free to commit features and port this to any other device

It's basically AOSP + Optimizations
I can merge things(be it settings, features, other optimizations, removal of things) from other repos and kernels,if you want

You should provide a log to help the dev out :good:
If I may ask, what is your philosophy with this ROM? Since you take all feature requests, do you intend on it branching far from the AOSP experience over time with heavy features? Or are you shooting for a simple and stable linaro optimized AOSP build? Only reason I ask is that I am extremely interested in the latter and would probably make this my daily driver :good: Either way, thanks for bringing this to us!!
::EDIT::
By the way, if you are looking for a custom kernel, might I recommend giving a shout to the maker of Bricked kernel. His kernel has linaro optimizations as well and is stable as hell.
You don't say...I'm at work. Flashed on a break, reverted to my backup so I'd have use of a phone.
Another tester (and me) had no issues with settings.. Tried WiFi,bluetooth and more..
Did you do a factory reset?
Inviato dal mio Nexus 5 utilizzando Tapatalk
Already fixed the issue. Cleaning up the files I normally pull out of zips I deleted NFC. Problem solved. Also running with the linaro Franco and moto dalvik patches!

Since Linaro usually sticks to AOSP and just optimizes, most of the users would find 0 reasons to switch over from stock to this, instead,by adding some features(not the heavily bloated ones) I want to give you more reasons to try this..
Due to the speed of this phone on stock,I really doubt I can increase in any way its speed to be really noticeable
I will check kernels tomorrow after doing something interesting to the build(hint: https://lwn.net/Articles/518718/ )

That's the one. This ROM is very quick and extremely light with no additional garbage added. Just the way I like it.

My builds are set up to build 11 devices every day with the latest Vanir Sources. Now I can't promise every nightly will work but most of the *SHOULD*. I have tested the builds that my scripts have spat out before and they all work just as well as if I did it by hand. This just saves me time and effort. I am also looking for a easy way to mirror. Google Drive is just super easy to upload to with my scripts but I would love to have a mirror that updates automatically too. Let me know if you have ideas.

They have the exact same base just with new stuff added on top for my builds so it *SHOULD* be fine, but I make no promises. When dirty flashing there is ALWAYS a risk to be had. I dont see any reason why it wouldn't work. Just be prepared to wipe if you flash and run into weird errors.
To be careful I would:
Wipe (/system, /cashe, /davlik)
Flash Rom and Gapps of your choice
Flash Kernel or Fixes you want (Many kernels dont work properly with vanir but I know uber does with the fixes I have made for it.
Reboot to system.

AOSP Kernels need to edit the Ramdisk in order to be used with vanir because it is a CAF-Hybrid. Uber has scripts that it runs when it is installed to make these edits, but MANY kernels do not. I find it doubtful that franco would. The main changes that need to be changed are the PM Drivers because the Vanir Kernel uses CAF one and AOSP use AOSP ones so you need to change where it searches for the PM drivers in the ramdisk.
If you run an incombaitble kernel your battery will drain to no end. if you look in the battery status it will say that the android system is draining all the battery by keeping the device awake. (Basicly the PM drivers arent running) The way to fix this is to edit the ramdisk. There are like 20 lines or so you need to edit. It can be done manually but you cant mess it up or you might get a bricked phone.
The uber fix I have listed fixes some audio bugs that uber and other AOSP kernels have with vanir. In short it is do-able to make franco combatible with Vanir, but the scripts aren't in place and franco would need to do or someone who wants to kang his work.

Check battery settings, power saving mode.
For AT&T I use LTE & 3G , when screen is locked battery savings is activated from 12 to 12 .
Just move the white button down one like @Williamsss said

Using T-Mobile and I double and triple checked the APN settings maybe something with the actual T-Mobile network

FAQ:
Can I use Viper4Android for more settings?
-I really don't recommend it. You lose all the improvements of caf-audio + may break the audio. If You REALLY want to use it, add those build.prop lines, I remember from LG G2 times that those lines were doing their work:
lpa.decode=false
lpa.releaselock=false
lpa.use-stagefright=false
tunnel.decode=false
tunnel.audiovideo.decode=false

I see You have F2FS automouting, what I have to do to make it work?
-Just update to the latest TWRP (do it always btw) and change FS to F2FS for /data and /cache and wipe them (it's good to do a full factory reset after it, You'll lose Your data on storage anyway, so...)
Why not F2FS on /system?
-Because I chose simplicity and safety over near zero improvement. To change FS on /system, we must change SELinux to Permissive. It isn't too safe. (detailed explanation)
I have a XYZ bug, what should I do?
1. ALWAYS have a logcat/kmsg/whatever of it.
2. profit
The ROM is awesome, where can I donate?
Look on left! There is a nice button for that
Nice to see you have thread created..
Hmmm optimized CM12, everything I could've wanted Good job, dobra robota @reas0n
Things to do for now:
-I'm collaborating with @neobuddy89 = we will bring the best performance You have even seen
-F2FS auto mount
-make a ROM slimmer (well, we don't need CMUpdater, for example)
-bring some useful features (cherry-pick time!)
The first two ones are possible to be released today
EDIT: Well, at the end of compiling, a wild bug appeared. A new version will came later.
Oh, and the first build will be soon on androidfilehost.com, no more Google Drive.
No no, czekamy we waiting bro
Time for update!
Chaos kernel integrated, but unfortunately no F2FS automount for now, it broke compiling. I'll try to fix it soon.
Anyway, the new build is being uploaded!
The first thing we will care about is performance, then we will care about features (for now CM features are more than enough)
EDIT: uploaded! enjoy changelog just to be clear:
[7/02]
-Chaos Kernel by @neobuddy89 is now out of the box, enjoy!
(F2FS automount and Synapse support is still WIP though)

The latest build is smooth as hell, if u dirty flashed it, u should do a clean flash. problems are always possible.
Btw, I don't have time, so till tomorrow/the day after tomorrow the only update is SaberMod 4.9 for kernel. Let's compile and see. For now please test the latest build (i'm doing it with every build too, lol)

It's available on gitorious you probably already knew this from seeing the github readme. Because of how large in size it is now there's been a ton of changes from both gnu and SaberMod that make it huge. Github won't allow binary size to exceed 100mb but gitorious does.

Cheers.

About the nearest update: CM Recovery really doesn't want to GTFO from the ROM, so I need some time. Hopefully my friend will also add Synapse support, so the "inside" of our ROM will be slim and functional. After doing everything what I have in my mind about that "inside", I'll take care about features.

Disclaimer
I'm not responsible for any damages on your device.
The rom and the kernel are tested by me first before I make it available online. I could have overseen something during testing, please understand. In summary, the ROM is still SlimKat, with some additional features (see below), but is also compiled with SaberMod toolchain. You can consider this build as a "nightly" and the build from the official thread is stable and weekly.
!!! Please don't discuss these unofficial builds in the official thread. Users can get confused easily!!!
What makes different from the official SlimRoms
Compiled with a custom toolchain UBERTC for more performance and better battery life
Compiled with the GCC optimization level -O3
Compiled with strict-aliasing compiler optimization
Added patches to fix GCC strict-aliasing violation rules
Added ARMv7 optimized string handling routines for more smoothness and more memory optimization

Additional features included!
The main features are the compilation of the ROM with -03 flags, strict aliasing and Sabermod, along with the rest of the optimisations listed in the OP. These are all to increase performance and battery life. But of course, there are some additional features included:
Gesture unlock for lockscreen
Network speeds in status bar
Configure double tap status bar to sleep
Custom system animations
Integrated performance options in ROM
Soft reboot option
Mobile data disabled by default. This is to avoid extra carrier charges during ROM setup
SuperSU root management
Lockscreen Notifications
Advanced calculator with floating mode
Battery saving network mode: Automatic switch to 2G when screen is off.
Smooth scrolling (disable scrolling cache)
Confirm to reboot to bootloader/recovery
For a more comprehensive list, please see this post by Harsha Raj in the i9100 thread.
Mobile data isn't working!!
Once the ROM is booted, go to Settings -> Toggle 'Mobile networks' for data to be enabled.
It's disabled on purpose, by default. This is so when you first flash the ROM, no data is used, as some carriers charge heavily for even small data transfers.
What about theme chooser?
Next post down, look in the "Goodies" post to find flashable themes
Root doesn't work!
Enable 'Developer options'
Go to Settings -> About Phone
Tap on the Build Number 7 times
Go to Settings -> Developer options -> Root access
Choose 'Apps' or 'Apps and ADB'
How to change DPI?
Currently, this feature hasn't been ported... so you'll need to install Texdroider DPI from the playstore... or edit /system/build.prop and change ro.sf.lcd_density to the desired value
What is the Toolchain?

Since fusionjack source is caf based, and neither of us have time to support two branches (aosp and caf) i will say no for the time being, but if i get time in future will do it for sure

Is CAF his preference or is that the direction of the Slim Team now?
I'll probably give this one a shot this weekend regardless. Thanks for the build.

Caf source is used to compile to bacon, is the main branch for it, as bacon is maintained directly from CAF, and not from google, so it dont have pure aosp as ours do. But i prefer to use caf too, caf is much more optimized now, i could get easily 4h SOT with default kernel settings, no tweaking, no undervoltage on my first private builds. so i would say you to give a shot to caf
How come all CAF i try i end of with failed update binary when i flash? Im on factory 5.1 do i need to factory image 5.02? im on 2.8.5.2

Just a heads up. Looks like xposed breaks everything on this rom. I tried installing the official alpha2 build and everything goes to hell on boot.

I was just looking at lolistats, YouTube adaway, and snapprefs, but installing that zip recovery is what seems to break everything. I know it's early, but I figured it should still work as it does with both CM and AOSP 5.0 roms.

Yes it should, but caf roms, and specially slimsaber, have tons of different things of aosp and cm, in a near future u maybe could get xposed working on caf roms, i am sure that xposed dev, wont give up. Btw, i think u can get similar apps that dont use xposed
xposed doesn't work on slimsaber. some ART optimizations (or perhaps others) that i used make it incompatible with xposed.
@TomorrowLand_Ace: good job :good:

Questions and answers (will be updated if needed):
Q: Where are the screenshots?
A: Look in the screenshot section of the DevDB Project.
Q: Should i take the CAF version or the normal version?
A: This depends, if you're planning to use ProjectX stock, it's recommended to use the CAF version since it's smoother and it possibly (look at Q2) has better battery life. On the other hand, if you're planning to flash other kernels on this ROM (for example AK) , you should use the normal version.
Q: Should i use the provided zip to underclock the CAF kernel?
A: If you want a little better performance, you should flash it since the CAF stock speed is underclocked to 2GHz and this zip disables is so that your speed can go up to 2.5GHz. But if you'd rather have a little better battery life, you shouldn't flash the zip.

This is one of the fastest ROMS I've used in quite some time... I normally set my transition animations to .5 speed and I've noticed that some ROM aren't smooth with the speed that fast and pages don't load as quickly as the transition moves but this ROM flies.... My battery life isn't that great though, the break is me reflashing... I'm using tk gapps I'm going to clean reflash and use Slim Gapps.

I change all of my animations to .25x.
You REALLY notice a difference with it. Does this ROM support that animation speed?

Doesn't support .25 but it loads pages really fast, I hate when I speed up the transition and the page isn't already loaded. Also I noticed that when I scroll on apps like Google Photos all the pictures instantly load... No wait time. If I could mix the speed of this ROM with the battery savings of Sultan's ROM.... And the features of Exodus... Perfection.

OT:
Well then i would believe you should take Exodus ROM as the base, use CAF kernel with it from Sultan's sources(not sure how difficult that is) and use the toolchain Sabermod with optimization from this rom and TADA! you have your perfect idea. But the prerequisites here would be a fast internet connection, a fast PC(slower will work as well) and knowledge of how to build a rom from source. If you made such rom bro, please send me a link via PM as i have 0 knowledge of bilding roms from sources.

The next build should have that fixed.
Does this rom have build in Root? or do we have to flash it?
Hi Bacon Community!
Let's keep this short and simple...
I will be regularly building and uploading OmniRom 6.0 and Slim6 builds to this thread.
OmniRom is built with stock Omni trees.
Slim6 is built with Sultanxda's CAF based trees.
Optimized with JustArchi's ArchiDroid Optimizations V4.1 - Unleash the power!

GApps
I recommend using OpenGApps or SlimGApps. Other GApps are untested by me so check the thread before complaining about bootloops!
I will probably be adding small features like Viper4Android, SnapdragonCamera, etc. in future builds, but don't ask when because you won't get an answer!

The very first Omni build is up! This one uses completely stock sources with no modifications at all. Sadly, I will not be able to provide changelogs for every build at the moment because it will just take waaay too long. Once I get things going and the changelog script working, then I will start posting them. Happy flashing!

I'm positive that it uses oppo camera libraries because of the shared proprietary vendor.
Eagerly awaiting the slim builds! Right now on Sultans ROM, but need slim features ?

Tnx ????

The ROM is very, very fast and the ColorOS camera k2 works great ?
Tnx @YoshiShaPow ??
Any chance getting the gesture typing work with omni builds? I never install GAPPS, but with slim 5 gesture typing worked fine. Sometimes the solution was to copy approriate ljn_latinimegoogle.so file into /system/lib folder, but it doesn't help with omni 6.
What to do? Typing without gesture typing is really slow. Installing privacy pervasive GAPPS is out of question, nor installing any apks.
Thank you already in advance!

What GApps are you using?
I have read the full OP, and I know that you're currently building unmodified Omni source. Does this mean that at this stage, your build, and herna's are the same? Do you plan to add your own modifications, or just continue to build from source? Sorry for the newbie question. I hate to pollute development threads.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Herna's source is slightly modified (I know he builds SnapdragonCamera rather than the stock camera app). Other than that, it's pretty much the same. I will be adding things later on.
