Tried to search the forums, but I keep getting a message the search function is down. I've browsed a bit anyway and searched on the interwebs, but not finding what I'm looking for.
I hate the phone screen colors; this includes everything under phone/groups/favorites/contacts.
I have Wanam Xposed - and in his screenshots in the Store, it shows a really nice set of colors for the dialer and contacts.
How would I change mine to that or something to my liking?
I saw there are some apps in the store I can download - but they install "along side" of the existing dialer, contacts, etc.
I just want to tweak the ones I have.
I also saw some items about "flashing" things after going into recovery mode - but the way I understand it - even though we're rooted on MJ7 now - there aren't any recovery programs available yet to use - so those flashing options are out, right?
Anyone have any suggestions? This is the last (yeah, right!) tweak I am wanting to do before feeling like my "new" S4 is "setup" the way I like it more or less...
Thanks!
you are correct, we can't "Flash" any custom roms yet, the bootloader has not been unlocked yet

So then the only option to modify the dialer & contacts screens are for me to dig into the files that make them up & edit as needed, or, install one of those custom dialer apps from the Store to run along side the existing dialer?
I guess I assumed there would be some tool or utility similar to Wanam that would allow us to "theme" things - similar to the Winterboard app on the iPhone. I know this isn't the iPhone...I'm learning . . .

Hi all,
I'm kind of in the final steps of customizing my tablet at this point. I've unlocked bootloader, rooted, all that fun-ness. Now, I want go to the next level of customizations and tweak them even more to my liking. That being said, I've got a couple of questions.
1) Kernels: What are they, and where can I find them? I've googled for TF300T kernels but I don't find enough information that would make me comfortable flashing them and whatnot. Are there any benefits to custom kernels? Can I un-do any customizations I make to my kernel in case I don't like it/something goes wrong?
2) I saw a member who posted his TF300T screens with different backgrounds for each home screen, and I'm wondering if that has to be done with a certain type of launcher or if I can accomplish that with my GOLauncherHD?
3) Is it appropriate to post .apk files for others' to download, or are there certain rules/restrictions in place (just like one wouldn't post Windows software up for download that wasn't free)
Thanks,
Opethfan89

1. Try flashing some of the custom roms under developemente page for tf300, there are some jelly bean roms but i would highly recommend seanz hydro-ponic since the jelly bean roms might still have some buggs. (Seanz Rom is awesome btw) You can find instructions on how to do it in his forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750861 . Also watch some of the videos by Allaboutandroids here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663244 he can resolve many of your issues and give you step by step instructions. **DONT DO THIS UNLESS YOU DONT MIND VOIDING YOUR WARRANTY, IF YOU BRICK YOUR TABLET ITS ON YOU** very easy process any way, and fun. Just make sure to follow the proper instructions.
2. There is an app that can change the picture for each home screen, there is no need to change launchers just download off the market free MultiPicture Live Wallpaper and under its options you can find "add individual settings" select a screen and add an inidvidiual screen for screen 1, 2 ,3 and so on, as many as you want. Also it gives you plenty of choices when it comes to the types of transitions, highly recommended app, goes well with Simple text widgets.
3. Make sure the software you are putting up is a developers app that has given you permissions, if it is in the market then its better if you give the market link. Dont put anything illegal up, pirated software and such.
Hope this helped. :good:

Thanks. I have been experimenting with flashing ROM's and so I have a better idea of what is out there. But I still haven't found any custom KERNELS, like I see peoples' signatures on these forums with "running <blah> custom build.prop" or "running XXX custom kernel". How can I get more info on kernels? or is the custom kernel going to be part of the ROM?
And to clarify #3, I meant being able to post like the Asus stock widgets that come on the TF300T and a guide to getting them to work.....I really like the weather widget, SuperNote, and Polaris Office but I haven't been able to find any guides detailing how to install the stock widgets.
I also downloaded the multilive wallpaper app but I can't find its settings menu. Got any advice?
-O
I dont know that much about custom kernels, sometimes people will put up wifi fix, or gps fix, so on that you flash into the kernel but not really an expert.
Also, concerning the multilive picture wallpaper app, at first i couldn't find the settings either, what I would do is go into play store and open it thru there, but looking thou my widgets i found multilive picture widget, but its not really widget its a regular icon, so i just put it on the desktop and launch it from there.
Hope this helped.
The custom kernels are coming, this device is still relatively new barely 4 months and already has an unlocked bootloader, some very slick roms (Scott's Clean Rom and HYDRO(PONIC)) and almost bugfree JellyBean roms. Thats mighty impressive considering some devices dont even have an unlocked bootloader. The developer who created the HYDRO PONIC Rom (Sean Z) is working on a kernel atm..we all just gotta be patient.
I'm new to phone modding, so please be forgiving.
I just flashed Slim-i9100-4.3.build.2-OFFICIAL-1334 and I want to be able to use Google Play etc., so I downloaded Slim_aroma_selectable_gapps.4.3.build.2 and I want to make sure everything goes smoothly.
So, should I just go to recovery and flash the zip? That's it? Should I wipe both caches beforehand?
More questions:
- can I somehow change the view in Gallery to list (with small thumbs maybe)? The only two options are grid and filmstrip and they both suck for browsing movie clips.
- how can I add mobile data on/off shortcut to the notification drawer? I know I can modify the quick settings section, but that just adds an unneccesary step. Vanilla Android has that!
- can I make the font in the status bar slightly bigger? It's too tiny.

You should of flashed gapps straight after flashing the rom. It should be ok to just flash gapps tho.
There might be a gallery on the play store for that but not sure.
Im dont use Slim but its base is cyanogenmod. You should have a toggle there with your network name? If so that is your data toggle.

yes flash gapps from recovery, always wipe cache and dalvik before is best practice. Data on/off on notification, that should be there in slim (if I remember rightly) You could check out widgetsoid to put toggle on home screen, I find this quite useful for seeing at a glance what is going on and abilty to change immediately as needed. You may also want to check out Tasker (paid app) I wouldn't be without it, then you can easily automate data on/off for what ever you like - example: screen off/data off - screen on/data on, browser on/off/data on/off etc.
Yes, you can make status bar bigger from within slim settings - change dpi to 240 (which will restore your phone to original screen size), if you wanted to get more technical you could use xposed settings with per app settings module, this works a dream for me, then you can set ui to 240 for example and other apps as you like them.
Also - quick pic may be a suitable solution for your gallery issue, I find this a good app.
Hope this helps
Happy modding!
Thanks for the replies. I have another problem and I don't want to make another thread, so here goes (it's a bit complicated, so bear with me):
I flashed the aroma gapps ROM and the installation process went fine, BUT it somehow corrupted my presonal/contact data. I would get "Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped." and "Unfortunately, dialer has stopped." errors. Maybe because I didn't wipe cache/dalvik?
Anyway, I read somewhere that to fix that you should disable and clear cache/date of:
- DRM Protected Content Storage
- Media Storage
- Dialer
- Contacts
- Contacts Storage
Which is what I did, but I think I did one too many things. The errors are gone, the contacts list is fine, I can send SMS and call no problem.
But now when I connect the phone to my PC, I can't see any folders in Windows Explorer! I can see the GT-I9100 icon in My Computer, I can see "Internal Storage" and "SD Card" on it, just not any contents. 0 folders, no hidden ones either.
Also I can't see any ringtones in the Settings->Sound->Phone ringtone menu, same goes for Notification sound. It only lists "none" as an available tone. Yeah.
HI, Today i have successfully installed slim-4.3 build 2.1 unofficial on my HTC HD2, after successfully installing SlimBean aroma gapps build 2 through recovery, there was no gapps package application in my launcher , what will be the problem ?
Slimbean 4.2.2, contacts and dialer apk of stock 4.1.2
Is there any way to have the contacts and dialer apks of Stock 4.1.2 can be installed/flashed in slimbean 4.2.2.
would be nice if there's a prompt reply.
Hi,
short version: how can I replace orange 'no connectivity' icons with white versions under 4.4 (KitKat)? I've tried to mass replace (in system apks) any PNG files I could find that seem to be related to signal strength -- but either I can't find the right ones or there's something even more tricky going on.
long version: I'm experimenting with my Lenovo Vibe Z (k910). I tried to install official 4.4 update (VIBEUI_V1.5_1420_4_ST_K910_NK_W_E2D0 if that's of any interest) + root + google apps. It seems to work fine except for the one unpleasant issue -- network signal icons turn orange (which clashes somewhat horribly with the rest of the visual scheme).
As far as I was able to google, orange means 'no connectivity'. This is clearly not true (all google services etc. work fine). However I don't really care about the fact that the system 'thinks' it is not connected.
What I'm looking for is some way to make these icons white -- either via simply replacing the icons or else making the system believe that it is, in fact, 'connected'.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I've been able previously to fix similar issues under 4.2 (by simply replacing icon files). However I can't seem to get 4.4 figured out.
So figured it out.
At least on my phone (Lenovo Vibe Z (k910)) the relevant apk is NotificationCenter.apk and relevant icons are like these:
NotificationCenter.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\stat_sys_gemini_signal_2_orange.png

Instead of decompiling and recompiling your apk try using GRAVITYBOX xposed module...are u using a custom rom or the Stock?
GravityBox does so many things simultaneously that it is, in my opinion, a very dangerous thing to install on a ROM that is not completely stock. And Lenovo's isn't exactly stock. I had issues on another Lenovo phone previously.
I tried some other xposed module that was supposed to be able to recolor status bar icons -- didn't work.
Also copying icon files makes them fit not only by color, but also by style. And is rather trivial thing to do really as long as you can manage to unpack/pack zip files (which is what apk really is).
I Have a Rooted android and ive done some looking into and cant seem to find any apps or information into what im trying to do.... I am trying to use the one of the dots on my android twice in an overlapping patter that i believe would make a cool looking pattern that ive come up with and that will still secure my device. has anyone tried this or found a way to do it or, maybe even change the color of the doubled dot from green to purple or some drastic color change like that so that the difference can be seen. any links to guides on how to do it or apps would be helpful. PS i have no android coding experience only a basic class in C++
I looked at the lockscreen replacements on Google Play, but I didn't see any that have that feature. There might be a custom ROM you could flash that has that, although I've never encountered one. The only other way to do that would be to edit the source code of a ROM, specifically the source for Keyguard.apk (although I may be wrong on that part), add that functionality, and then build it yourself, which, in my opinion, would be a very large amount of work for a feature that small, and it would require you to know Java.
i don't know if this is the right section if it's not please move it
i am a perfectionist when it comes to things being Clean i've installed lineage and a couple of mods and gotten my phone the way i want it, what bothers me is two things, the giant GOOGLE section in the settings panel so now theres two google settings one under accounts and one under the main settings panel, i want a rom where this is moved under accounts i hate any kind of branding i've gotten rid of all google like Icons and text i want my phone to visibly be as free from google logos or text as possible, Another issue i have is accessability i don't use it i only use and i wonder who messes with custom roms actually does use any of those help features, the one function where apps require it can be put under system , i'd like to get rid of that entire section and have the accessability for apps feature moved to the system section
these are things i'd like for a rom and i wonder if anyone likes the idea enough to do it, basically modify lineage and make those Changes, will Android break if you mess with the settingspanel? i just want to move things around to keep it cleaner i for example also wanted network settings and blutooth etc to be combined into one section all connectivity data, wifi, bluetooth etc.
actually i just noticed Android pie has the google settings removed
