[Q] i9100G no network signal - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello helpers
Long story short my phone has very limited ,1 par, or mostly no network signal .
I have tried different efs v1 and v2 basebands without success . flashed many roms , stock 4.0.4 - 4.1.2 and other custom roms result 0.
my imei still matches the one writing below the battery .
Also tried different valid sim cards , switching between 2g and 3g , auto and manual search for the mobile network, removed the efs partition and restored it back no luck result 0
Is there any thing else I should try to fix it? Could it be a hardware issue?
Thank in advance

have you checked your carriers APN settings?
Contact them and make sure you have the correct settings.

Running the standard firmware but it is not registering on the network.

Maybe it's sim locked.
I did reply before but my post disappeared.
It is not sim locked. Bought it on Lets buy and tried to install a custom rom. that didnt work so i reinstalled the standard firmware. and not able to connect to mobile network since then. Tried multiple versions of firmware, still on stock firmware. can check my mails and connect to the market but mobile networks are not available. Pls help.
No CSC wrong CSC set all mobile's network
settings manually .
Or flash back Orginal branded rom .
Phone firmware Country Specific Codes does not cover your network is the usual answer to the problem .

Restore your backed up efs folder as per the instructions .
failing that search for IMEI fix or flash stock firmware see if you get IMEI back .
no IMEI means unrecognised phone network will not accept it .

[Q] International Galaxy S3 isn't able to connect to Etisalat.af 3g data service

Hi. I'm here in Herat (Afghanistan) and I've bought an ETISALAT.af sim card that is supposed to provide also the 3g data connection. I've an International Galaxy S3 with Omega ROM v27 (4.1.1 JB) obviously rooted with Kernel 3.0.31-204919 and XXDLIB. the problem is that the smartphone is able to connect to ETISALAT 3g network (that sent to me also config sms) but it doesn't recognize the data network (no 3g, H or anything else near the signal bars). I've tried to solve changin APN but the result is the same. could you please help me.
Thanks in advance for your efforts.

Thank you for your answer. I have already tried this and I've also reverted to Omega v13 ( Ics based) wich have a different modem.
Hi cp108,
I had the same problem when I install the Omega ROM v27.1(Modem XXDLIB : same modem that your device has) on my Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300. Then I changed the access point name settings and data connection turned on. Have you changed following attributes?
1. Name
2. APN
3. Proxy
4. Port
5. MCC
6. MNC
7. Authentication type
8. APN type
In my case, after I changing above the problem solved.

Network mode refuses to change (no data)

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the whole rooting process...
I rooted my phone and sim unlocked because I moved temporarily to a new location...
I installed custom rom and I lost data connectivity...
I suspect the rom being the problem because I tried many popular roms such as RootBox, PA, and finally Sapir... RR doesn't work for some reason...
Nor do I think the problem is with the modem because restoring the old stock rom back works like a charm...
I also tried so many different modems and the problem persist...
I made sure the APN setting are set and are the exact same from the stock rom that works fine...
I also made sure data is enabled and the phone is not in roaming mode...
Current Modem: XXKI4
Android Version: Sapir 4.1.2
Phone : GT-I9100M (Canadian Bell) << I read somewhere it is the same as GT-I9100
Current Network: mobily
After some googling I found out about the *#*#4636#*#* and I tried changing it from there and I kinda got the problem...
It is set to CDMA/GSM on the stock rom and it changes back when I exit and I enter 4636 again...
On custom roms it is set to "WCDMA preferred" and every freaking time I change it to anything but "WCDMA preferred" and I exit then enter 4636 again it changes to Unknown...
Ping IoAddr: Fail: IP addr not reachable
Ping Hostname: unknown
HTTP Client test: Fail: IOException
GSM service: In service
GPRS service: Connecting then Disconnected
Network type: UMTS
it becomes EDGE on GSM...
and on stock rom it is either UMTS:3 or HSPA:11 whatever this means...
Thanks a lot for the help...
I want to add a few things...
the data doesn't even work on 2g...
and everything works fine on wifi...
I just can't get the mobile data to work...
Bump
I have the same problem too. not yet fixed.

[Q] Unlocked S2 Not Registered On Network

Hi I have recently rooted and unlocked my S2. It recognises any sim put into it but if i try to make a call i get 'not registered on network' error. Apart from this the phone is in fully working order. I have set up manually the APN and recognises the sim but still get error.
Any help much appreciated.
Check your IMEI in settings/about phone/status. If it begins with '0044...' (whatever you do, do not post your actual IMEI number here !) you've found the source of your problem.
If your IMEI is OK, two possibilities that spring to mind are the phone is IMEI blocked (check with your carrier) or your carrier hasn't set something up properly at their end (again, check with them).
Hi, thanks for the reply. My IMEI no starts 3533 should this be ok? I also have signal on my phone but in settings says disconnected. I have also tried other sims but have same issue. Do you think i should contact the network or samsung direct or is there anything i can try?
Thanks again

How exactly did you root your phone? Did you flash a new kernel only? Or also a new rom?
Because new roms also tend to flash a new modem in to the phone. Although this is not common, but a modem can change the way the phone talks to the cellphone carrier. Check in your "about" sections under settings whats your "baseband". Note that you can flash a new modem independently from the rom and kernel

OK this makes sense I did flash a new ROM the baseband number is I9100XXLPQ. Does it matter what modem I use and should this match the baseband?
I am having the exact same problem with 2 different carriers, it only shows a 3rd carrier in dominican republic which is claro and i have not been able to test it with a claro sim card, how did you guys resolve the problem.?

Data OK - but no voice connection

Hi,
My unlocked S3 will no longer make/receive phone calls. Searching for (and then trying to register on) mobile networks results in "unable to connect try later"
IMEI code is OK (not starting with 00)
Different sim card- same results
Flashing rom to latest stock xxemg4 rom etc - same results
Now the weird thing is if i add an APN to my service provider - i get data connection (email/twitter) work - but cannot register on voice network
Is this a hardware radio issue? Have any of you guys seen this before? Any advice?

Reads as you have wrong CSC or wrong APN settings .
Suggest read the Faqs and Guides first .

Could also be your network operator having issues. Can you test your sim card in another phone? (Or another sim card in your phone). You could also try different network modes in the mobile networks screen.
Thank you for your replies.
My IMEI number does indeed match the one under the battery. All APNs have been deleted and then only the APN from my network provider added.
Network says sim/imei is NOT blocked.
Sim works (with calls) in another phone
So - my phone is now a PDA - data connection OK but no voice calls. I guess it must be a phone hardware issue - Odd but there you go.
Again - thanks for looking.

do you recall exactly when did this happened?
any chance you might have installed wrong modem when flashing rom?
It was working fine - hadn't flashed anything for months. Then voice dropped out - never come back on.
Usually if something stops working and you haven't made any changes then it might be a cache or system file is corrupt.
First clear the cache and dalvik, then factory reset and reflash the rom. If it still the same on a clean stock rom then likely to be hardware.
