s3 not registered on network - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all ,
i bought s3 i9300 it was a european model with region lock my sim in egypt worked on it , i tried to flash another stock rom after that my sim didn't work and if i try to make any call it tells me not registered on network i tried many apps root every thing on internet that didn't work , i gave it to a guy who used z3x samsung tool and some boxes and cables and he couldn't lock it on 4.1.2 so he downgraded it to ICS 4.0.4 and he managed to make my sim work , is there any way to get back to 4.1.2 and make this network problem go away ? thanks in advance .

Unlikely, if it is network (not region) locked then 4.1 and later will cause it to lock again.
Without the genuine unlock code from the original network you cannot unlock at present, 4.0 will cause SDS to your emmc chip.
Most network registration issues at the moment are caused by people not reading about the efs change, before flashing to EMG rom. This might be your problem as well, read sticky thread in general forum: efs 'know this stuff'.

READ the stickied faqs and guides .
Region lock is from firmware and phone is locked to a region it requires the original sim to unlock .

unlock fail

Phone is an S3 for T mobile running 4.1.1
I've been in phone unlocking hell for 4 days.
Closely followed the "free" unlocking in debug mode method-trouble was phone will auto lock back after a couple hours or calls.
Tried turning the flag on and off, factory reset, all kinds of stuff and still no luck.
I broke down and bought an unlock code but can't get my phone to prompt for it.

whoops sorry

[Q] i9300 NV Data information.

After reading about how CDMA devices were able to have modified IMEI information, I was curious about the GSM variants such as mine, the i9300.
I've looked all over XDAdev and can't find information about modifying this version (which we have in the UK).
I have one which I want to manually corrupt the IMEI data on, the phone has a broken screen, but I can plug into a good screen temporarily. The phone in question is rooted but I can't remember what firmware its running, I believe it is JB (stock ROM).
Am I missing something blatently obvious or is it just not possible with the UK variant of the SGS3?
Thanks.
Modifying IMEI is illegal and as such discussion is not allowed on XDA .
