I want my application was in portrait mode for cell phones with screen size < 6", but switched to landscape for tablets 7" and over. I can get resolution from Android but size. Using right layout directory names doesnt help much either, since Kindle is still recognized as phone. Any ideas?
Another question where do you guys get artists? I do not draw good, and I tried to find some artists in many development groups but no such guys there. Any positive expereice is welcome. Hiring a designer isn't option since I do free software.

Hello all,
I am about to get my mitts on an Ameo with Project Dual on and like using RealVGA on my Uni so looking forward to it on the big screen however as we all know some progs just will not take to working under VGA. In another thread that I started in Hack & Dev hacking in the hires string using reshacker was suggested but some programs still use QVGA for the touchscreen mapping so all the inputs are somewhere up in one corner or another for example.
My idea is this, would it be possible to have a wrapper or something similar that forces the screen back to 192dpi while running a non VGA happy app then hops back to 96dpi when you exit. This could help with a lot of apps from some of the GPS stuff to old games that people still like to play.
Is this possible or am I asking to much of the Windows Mobile platform
unfortunatly when changing the resolution, it has to soft reset, so I dont think this would be possible.
Another possible solution?
OK if we can't change the screens DPI on the go another thought is this . . .
At present some apps mainly games (although there must be a few applications like GPS or such with similar issues) can display the graphics at fullscreen 96dpi but the touchscreen only accepts input from the top left of your screen which is basically a QVGA 320x240 sized box as they were only ever programmed for that type of screen, I have attached a quick layout drawing to give the idea (the same thing would happen if the app is in portrait as well)
This leads to the problem that you have to guess where everything is in relation to the display which is not much use really, my idea is if we could hijack the input on the screen and translate the 96dpi x,y co-ords to the apps native 192dpi co-ords (halfing them should work I guess) so as far as the app is concerned it's back on a regular screen and everyone wins
If this is a possible way round it we just need a program similar to Hou Ming's (a.k.a. the Mad Programmer) Force-Hires tool to list which apps we want to fix and when it runs away we go
Hi There, have a Tytn, nice large screen but am unable to read without my specs. Have set on largest fonts in settings but does not help with the incoming call details, so cant see who is calling until i put my specs on...really inconvenient. Is there any software out there that can help?
Thanks
You have your Text set to the Largest font correct?? Settings\screen\text size.
Large Fonts
I have set to largest but it is still too small. Purchased "Address Book" from Inesoft and that helps, still would like to see something more functional. Anybody out there with the know how up to it?
Hey all, got 2 questions...
1) So whats up with the screen rotation..
Recently got the HD2.. im left handed, sometimes i have the reflex of inclining to portrait mode the other way.. and thus the phone doesnt switch to portrait mode...
Also, why isnt it possible to just rotate the screen in all aps? Even older aps that ran in windows mobile of older versions?
It seems to me that the screen rotation is not well adapted on HD2 than Iphone, for example (even if i hate that phone)
2) How to ensure compatibility between old apps, like those i ran on my old Qtek S200, and HD2? i had magnificent chess applications, like opening databases explained.. (convekta opening instructor) i installed that app on my HD2, and even tho the screen is huge, the app run in like 20% of the screen and the rest is just a yellow background...
Thx for your answers
1) You can use BsB Tweak to make app rotate but some of app will be displaied not properly because of itself code (gues)
2) I think u can't. As I know all app are made for some kind of resolution of display. well newer phones are with bigger display and higher res so they opened app 1:1 in pixels.
Yes, i heard about the BSBtweaks, but heard also it is riddled with bugs for some, good for others.. why didnt HTC provide a good screen manager in first place?
Its such a shame for old apps.. its possible to run windows95 on new computers (with a little tweaking), isnt there something similar?
Idlove to run the convekta apps (http://app.downloadatoz.com/windows,games,40.html) on my phone, would consider donating to some guy who could port them (why arnt i an expert in portability, whyyyy)
Still nobody?
No chance of running old WM5 apps?
It's all about the screen resolution that the programs where made to display. That app was written for 320X240, so yeah it's not gonna take up the entirety of the HD2's 480X800 screen...there is no way around it. If an older program was written specifically for a certain resolution, then thats what it's gonna run under.
Yeah, ur right, its a resolution thing.. its just a shame, all the info and databases are there, the work is 90% done.. just a shame its coded for an old resolution screen
Isnt it possible to edit the file and redo the resolution part? Even if its streched and ugly and pixelled..
Hello,
i already thank you for reading this and trying to help me, I've started to become desperate. I have a Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (SM-T535) (rooted) and i would like to either fake the screen resolution given to a website or change the screen resolution itself. The website I want to go on has diffenrent styles for different resolutions and it cannot be changed by just going into the sites preferences. I know it is about the resolution and not about something else because when I'm on my computer and change the resolution in the Firefox developer tools, the page has exactly the style I want on my tablet. I tried the resolution changer that was suggested in another thread, but it didn't have any effect, and I tried changing the build.prop which resulted in a soft brick.
If anyone could tell me what i could do to make a website think i have a certain resolution, that'd be great.
Hi, I have an elderly person in the family who really cannot read text on the phone unless it is like text 64.
Is there any way that I can modify settings on the S9 Plus to have the below:
Huge icons
Big text, especially in phone book catalogue and weather app like Yahoo Weather
Huge clock on lock screen and home screen
I have looked into it and it seems that there is an easy mode.
I was thinking of doing easy mode + maximum font size and maybe then she can be able to read the names off the phone and use it with poor vision.
Anyone have any thoughts or can post any screenshots of what the phonebook list/contact would look like with maximum font size and easy mode?
Thanks so much! Wanted to test this but didn't have a Samsung phone on hand. Also couldn't find this mode on the demo phones at carrier stores.
Thanks so much for your help everyone.
