So I had never really used TWRP before today and inadvertently wiped my internal storage, so I have no OS installed on the phone. I can't seem to find a stock TAR to flash in ODIN. Please tell me there is one...
Download stock rooted and put it on sd card and flash in twrp

Yeah that's what I ended up doing. Had to transfer file to external SD card with a separate device and then used that to flash in twrp. So there's no full stock ODIN yet?

I think there is ...I remember seeing that someone found the tar on Samsung mobile or whatever the site is but the older mi3 etc won't work when you have upgraded to mj4 the new has a bootloader that won't allow a downgrade

This happened to me and I couldn't access any files on my SD card. The phone wouldn't read it. I had to ODIN with mj4 .tar to get everything back as it was.

The first thing I tried was ODIN but for some reason I couldn't drop the TAR file in it, like it wasn't reading it as a tar file. Would have been much easier that way haha

This should be it. I'm pretty sure the one I was trying to use in ODIN and couldn't was downloaded from elsewhere:

Ok so I plan on rooting my phone tomorrow and I have a few quick questions.
1. I downloaded all the files needed and im wondering do I need to unzip them, and by that I mean odin and motochopper.
2. Should I run a md5 checker on the kernels I downloaded?
3. This pertains to the md5. My kernel files say .tar.tar not .tar.md5 how do I fix this?? This got me when I tried to root my s3 and bricked it. Ive got a few pics to show.
Thanks.

The instructions should tell you where and what to change. Then use Root Explorer to browse to the file or directory and change it. Although most kernels are flashed via Odin as far as I know and am used too.

What kernels have you been flashing through Odin??? Only one I can think of is the pre-release one for 2 mins while you unlock the phone.
I've been doing all mine through TWRP. So far used faux's and KToonez's kernels

What did you flash? The ONLY things you should have tried are a MJ7 no-wipe or the MJ7 emergency recovery ROM.
Now I suspect you'll need to use the emergency recovery, but try the No-wipe one first. That also links to the full-wipe recovery ROM.
If your on mj4 flash this in odin to go back to stock...unzip and use the tar file
http://www.mediafire.com/download/vpel3qh0xuzzfpu/SPR-N900PVPUBMJ4-20131028151254.zip
After when all done and booted up try searching for the update.
If it doesnt let u update (says device moded etc)...go to settings>backup and reset> do a factory reset...
Once booted up.... that take ota should be all done
Or
Odin the NAB tar:

It would probably be much easier, to just flash the NAB tar, in Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2655883. I've read that the servers were overloaded, so they stopped the updates, and started rolling them out in stages. If what the 'internet' says is true, another 20% of users, will get the update Monday, and then another 20% sometimes after that.
If that's really the case, that probably explains why it says you're up to date (because you are up to date, based on what's available to you at that moment).

if so have you flashed with Odin using the PIT file?
This is needed in order to repartition the device due to the botched recovery install i believe.

Try a new cable using the pit file or a different pc. These make all the difference

Another good quality usb cable?
I've recently had to get a new one bc my original cable doesn't work with Odin anymore
It would always stop at hidden partition then eventually get worse stopping at earlier partitions.
