[Q] Link2SD and low memory - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I currently have a Vodafone Smart 2 with a CM7 based ROM. I made 2 partitions on my class 4 16GB microSD card (Ext2 with 1GB, the rest is FAT32) and installed Link2SD. After doing this, I started installing the applications I wanted and linking them all (auto link after install) but the internal memory becomes very low after some days my phone starts giving me warnings of low memory, specially when the apps are updating. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I don't even have many apps installed. I've done some research and have found many people with similar problems but I haven't seen any good solution, so I was hoping you could help me out.
This ROM doesn't have any useless software included, it is very clean, so uninstalling useless/factory based software isn't the solution.
Any tips are welcome.
Thank you

kenxda33, thanks for your reply. I've seen that tutorial and it shows similar steps to the one I have followed.

Anyone?

[Q] Newbie Question

Hi there,
I have recently purchased a SGA and am a keen techno geek so have been messing around and have installed the end ROM and CWM 5 + a few scripts and the phone seems to be working ok, battery drains in a few hours and the system seems a bit slow in general.
However I have been reading on here about formating the SD card and partitioning it etc so I was wondering if someone could give me a quick guide through on how to whipe the SD card format it corectly etc so that I know I have it all up and running corectly. I would greatly appreciate it! I have a 16GB SD card.
Kindest Regards
That's a lot of work you've done for recent purchaser of SGA..
Anyway, motive of partitioning SDCard is to use some of SDCard's memory as a Internal. So that you don't reach at the low internal memory problem.
Since you're using CyanogenMod based ROM, I would recommend THIS guide.
Its pretty simple.
Thank you!!!!!

[Q] Ics memory issues (yp-g70)

Hello guys
got a question, still cannot ask in develepment sub-forums, thats why trying to ask here anyway. sorry for that.
For a few weeks Im using roms based on AOKP, HyDrOG3N and Cruble (last few days). I love those roms very much and I allmost dont care about not working camera, but I've got some kind of trouble connected with those ROMs.
as I know, the memory issuses were solved by changing vold.fstab file. And it works really nice, but in this case all apps are installed to external sd card. I tryed to take them to internal memory using for example titanium backup pro, but result wasnt stable. Some of the apps fc after this operation, and in some of them their widgets got dissappeared from widget list (for ex. in poweamp).
THen i decided to change vold.fstab file to its previous condition, so the emmc would be external, and sdcard would be internal. Now it works, but in my opinion it got worse, because, install of a siple app from market (for ex. 3mb) takes probably to 20 minutes. And media files, like videos and images from external sd card couldnt be readed...
this was a kind of a long introduction to my question, but if this a common problem or only I have that? because I didnt find that someone wrote about that in dev sub-forums. And if its not common issue can I fix it somehow?
a really like those ROMs and I dodnt want to come back to 2.3 stock
using yp-g70 INTL 16gb, with 32gb SDHC Kingston memory card.
kernel now is [email protected] 1.
thanks for your responses
cheers

[Q] Change internal memory partition?

I'm running Liquid Smoth 3.1, and noticed the internal memory (for apps and such) is separated from the internal SD. Can we increase the internal memory allocation? I don't recall if this was common or not before I installed the ROM.
Still no solution found...

This is how old Samsung used as a separated partition(2GB/Remaining space) structure.
I could confirm that newer models only have one partition.
I had researched days of searches and still did NOT find confirmed easy solutions like flashing ZIP files.
(My research -> Link)
I REALLY DO wish someone could guide me a solution to repartition as one total 16GB(Like newer Galaxy)
or expending 2GB system partition to any bigger size.
I still did NOT find the solution and still looking.
The only last method I did not try - Working with ADB command which I need to consider to brick my phone.
But this is my primary phone that I use.
Even worse, KitKat ROM(I am using beanStalk ver 4.4.4001) does not allow to use App2SD function.
I have to manage all of my apps+data+decent space within 2 GB limitation even if I have 11GB available
space as an Internal Storage (NOT External SD).
Hope it helps and let you know you are in same boat with me.
Once again, I wish there is an easy solution who could help us!
Any Update??
HI, has anyone found a solution? ty

Dissapearing applications form google

Hi Guys!
I've been reading some threads on this forum before and I believe You will find a solution of my problem.
I have my Lenovo P780 for some time already. It is a 4GB version from China.
At the beginning I had a problem with my sd card. After formatting it seemed to work fine, but from time to time it got errors and i had to format it once agian (loosing all my gallery and applications installed to sd). Because of that I decided to flash it to ROM s226 ROW (official version).
Unfortunatetly it did not help to my sd card problem, but it made it much less frequent so I lived with this issue for some time.
Lastly i got a littlebit more time and i tried to figure it out.
What's interesting is that I usually lost my apps installed on sd, but not all of them. I spotted that the applications that usually disappear are the applications form google like gmail, calendar, maps or google keep.
I looked for the solution, but no success.
Maybe You know how to help me?
What I want, is just the phone that is not deleating my stuff from sd card, and lets me move at least some of my apps to sd card.
I can flash it with some diffrent ROM if You suggest that it will help, but i appreciate the stable versions (I've read about problems with wi-fi and network on some ROM's).
Please meake suggestions, all help is appreciated.

Hi. Your problem seems to be the SD Card.
Or your SD Card port!
Try to make default write disk Build in Storage for some time ! See what is going on !

Think You're right.
I only want to install some apps I usually use. I've seen somewhere that there is a way to make more space for apps in internal storage, will try it.

Samsung J120w Custom Roms?

I have rooted my J120w, now im trying to free up some space on its small 8gb internal memory. it seemes that android 6.0.1 is taking up nearly 5gb of the 8, leaving me little room.
i have tried link2sd but it does not want to mount my sd cart after changing to fsmount (sorry if thats not correct)
I am wondering if there are any custom roms that people know will work with this device, i am having a terrible time trying to find something on this forum, or the internet abroad!
thanks for your help in advance.
I am also keen on obtaining an alternate rom that works on the SM-J120W
Have also searched with no avail. Anyone found anything yet?
Cyanogenmod / Lineage os would be great!
I agree with punkrx the internal storage of this device is not the best and gets filled very quickly. I have had some success with Lucky Patcher which has allowed me to move apps to the SD card that Marshmallow will not allow me to move. Which has helped somewhat.
