Hi everybody, I have a xt910 Maxx
10 hours before, i installed JELLY BEAN 4.1.2 ARTMOD V4.31 rom with BMM
I set my device on and then i installed Titanium Backup. But Titanium Backup could not access root privileges.
I checked Superuser, tried to update but i can not update.
Fixin database.. ok
Unpacking sutools.. ok
Checking current install path.. ok system/bin/su
Downloading new binary.. ok
-Here s the problem-
Gaining root acces... failed
I tried to flash Supersu 1.77 zip but i can not.
I flashed rom again. but same problem goes on.
Please help me.
Try to install root via BMM.
Go into recovery>System keeper>install root. The binaries should update afterwards.
Hope it helps.

Did everything correctly from start to finish, flashed the SuperSU and Busybox package, but still no root access.
Couldn't install binary on SuperSU so I tried superuser... begins to download the update but fails at request for root access.
Please HELP! TWRP installed fine, i've installed the 4.2 camera keyboard and clock through twrp and they all work fine...
Titaniumbackup says it has root, but I guess that isn't right.. lol
fastboot says *TAMPERED* and *UNLOCKED*.
I also apologize if this isn't the right place for this, I can't post in the development thread due to the fact that i have <10 posts
You sound rooted, if not you wouldn't have been able to install the 4.2 camera. download superuser and try that. if all is good. then try superSU.
Also reboot your phone and try to install superSU again. but you are rooted.

Sorry I meant to include that superuser failed to gain root access in the process of updating. SuperSU won't even update, just goes to installation failed.

are you trying to flash the binaries from the SU app? if so you can't do that with S-on you need to Download the Zip from the SU website and flash in recovery... watch one of the videos on root/ custom recovery they explain it in detail
DNA help
i installed what seems to be the first custom rom for the DNA
i unlocked the bootloader w/ htc dev and gained root w/ CWM
im having trouble posting to this thread as im a new user
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...2014200&page=5
my device is hanging during boot animations at droid eye
how do i push the zip back to to SD card via command prompt if neccesay(if i wipe data)
also, im reluctant to perform factory reset from HTC bootloader menu w/ unlocked bootloader
BTW i did make a backup before rooting and before installing rom, but restore from it using CWM gives MD5 mismatch error

From what I understand if you are flashing the available custom ROM you must wipe system AND format data for it to install successfully. If you are able to get back into recovery just wipe those two and reflash the zip I believe you will be good to go after that.

Finally got it to work. Fix was around xda. Had to install superuser and I then disable superuser in SuperSU and now the superuser updates correctly. Super su still asks me to update and fails but I guess I'll just use superuser... Weird also it reboots when the update fails sometimes
My problem is that I rooted the phone OK but randomly apps will say that they cannot get root. Like titanium backup will randomly do that, a reboot will usually fix it. Thoughts?

I found that manually launching Superuser, then launching TiBu worked when TiBu wouldn't get root.

md5 mismatch is because the backup is unrooted...

no... md5 mismatch is because the backup probably failed and the device rebooted before it completed. this is a known issue with both twrp and cwm recoveries on HTC DNA

gotcha, he didn't say anything about it not finishing, and I had the same issue a while back on my incredible and the backups definitely were completed... so i'm not really sure
OP, go see my post in this sub-forum about not being able to update the su binary. It should solve your issues.
Sent from my rooted and debloated Droid DNA.
I'm having the same issue, but disabling root in SuperSU doesn't work, and when I update the SU binary in SuperSU or Superuser my phone reboots.
Hi,
I have my device rooted and had a custom rom for some weeks when I had changed my recovery to TWRP from CWM and did a factory reset and installed custom Lewa ROM the root permissions were gone.. it is little strange because I do have experience in rooting and installing the custom ROm's. when I restore back to my backup copy of the stock ROM rooted it has root permissions(I'm checking this with a root checker app).. currently I installed custom rom 4.2.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306461 which I had earlier working fine with root permissions before I flashed with Lewa ROM. though now I flashed this ROM it is without Root permission. by which I'm not able to use some apps with root features, which is not good. I tried the SP tools rooting methond being on this custom ROM and at the end I still not getting the root permissions.
can some one please help me with it
Thanks
still struggling with it.. even after repeated tries with SP tools and flashing Super user and SU in zip files.

Not sue what Motochopper Method is ? any links would be good help in future. anyways I was able to find a fix from the XDA thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167621 from that I have flashed an updated Super User zip which fixed my issue and I was able to use all my apps with required root permissions.
Thanks anyways.

Is your default permission set to "allow" in your super user app(or any other)?
If yes, change it to "prompt" and see if it works.
thanks.. I could have checked that.. but my issue is resolved after flashing an updated supersu file. even though the settings was to allow it should have made no difference using root checker isn't it? because it doesnt need the root permissions to tell us the status?
anyways thanks all of you for helping me with your inputs
First Flash your device with any Custom Recovery like CWM or TWRP and then flash with SuperSU v1.41
Tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2312557
Okay so I wiped my tablet and was able to update my TWRP to Voyager's new 2.6.3 version. I then installed the CMB ROM after using ADB to push it and gapps to my Prime in recovery. Everything installed just fine. When I got my tablet all booted up it seems I lost root somehow. I have never lost root in all the times I have flashed ROM's until now. I don't know if it is because I updated to the new TWRP or what. It is very frustrating and I have tried the Urkel's Fresh Start to re-root and I have also tried motochopper. I have had no success in getting it to root. I have Superuser on my tablet and when I open it up it asks if I want to update the SU binary and when I click yes it says Installation Failed!
Please HELP, I have spent hours on researching this and can't find a way to get my root back.
Edit: Oh and I do have the su in the system/bin folder and Superuser.apk in the the system/apps folder but no su-backup anywhere.

First you need to remove root and make sure all root files from your /system are gone.
Root prevent the phone from doing OTA updates because you have modified your system.
If you can't update OTA try flashing using flashtool it will remove root obviously because it's a newer Frimware.
For your information 5.1.1 root isn't the same way as 5.0.2.
Quick tip if you want to keep your root access try installing a recovery and busybox and make a pre rooted Frimware and flash it in the recovery.
I hope this was helpful.

Thank you for wanting to help, but have tried for FlashTool, PRF Creator and various manual methods in the mobile itself. Here's a video of how it is: "Z3 COMPACT AFTER ROOTING"
However, recalling that mine is the Z2. I found this video on youtube and that's exactly how is my mobile, but I can not post links forum.
If it's this https://youtu.be/VPrJthvqKfE
Flashtool will fix your issue. Install the drivers and flash a ftf file to fix the system partition.

1.Download a pre-rooted firmware 5.1.1 (flashable zip)
2.Boot into Recovery (TWRP Recommend)
3.Install - Choose ROM direction - flash the ROM zip and wipe cache\dalvik cache
(don't worry this won't wipe your data)
# I highly recommend you to do a factory reset after flashing because if you didn't the phone will be laggy and battery will drain extremely fast
*And If you have xposed installed don't forget to remove it because it may causes problems
If I Helped, Leave A Thanks ?
Hi Guys,
I'm trying to use Titanium Backup on dev Rom, but even after i gave TB permission access in security, it's still says that the phone is not rooted. then i installed superSU from playstore, follow this guide, http://webtrickz.com/easily-grant-root-permissions-in-miui-v6-developer-rom-with-supersu/, in hope that it will succeed, but no luck, i can't update SU binary.
anyone can help me with this, i don't want to install twrp, since it will make any future miui incremental update unable to be installed
