Turn off your HTC one max with your fingerprint?? - HTC One Max

Is there any way to build an application that doesn't allow the user to turn off the device unless you swipe the fingerprint?? I'm talking in case of stolen phone

i think that might be difficult because holding volume up and power for 15 seconds hard reboots the phone even if it's locked and eventually the phone's battery dies...

Easiest way to enter download mode.

I see every one posting about plugging your battery in and out when that isn't necessary.
All you have to do is completely power off your phone.
While it is still off, hold volume up and volume down at the same time.
Then, while still holding volume up and volume down, simply plug in your USB that's connected to your computer.
And that's all, your phone will turn on and auto enter recovery.

We know this, and it doesn't work for everyone.
Taking battery out then in will work for everyone besides hardware locked
Weird wonder why only for some? Maybe their phone didn't power down all the way?

Nope.
The phone vibrates when turned off, but removing battery takes 2 seconds and could save you from a 20 minute talk with tmo rep.
About you bricking your phone.
You should never take shortcuts on things like this.

Screen won't turn on?

Here is what happened:
About 3 hours ago I replied to a text messages after it sent my screen shut off abruptly could not get it to turn back on. I have done a battery pull tried Vol rocker + power to boot into boot loader nothing seems to work. The phone has never been wet, dropped once about 3 months ago(doubt it is that). The power button works becuase if I put it on the charger the light comes on and when I hold the power button down it goes out and comes back on as if it is powering up but I have nothing. Is this anything a hard reset could fix and is that possible through adb seeing as I cannot power into anything?
Guess I am just looking for any tips or tricks if someone else has encountered a similar issue? Or do you think my screen just crapped out?
Might be a bad battery pimpin.
Try tyrning it on with cmd (adb)
Adb devices
Adb reboot

It also kind of sounds like a visualizer problem

pull the battery, restart the device with the power button.
if it is simply the screen, it should still vibrate when you fire it up, if it is not vibrating, it is not even turning on.
after that, possible the battery. pull it out and take a voltmeter to it.
after that, if nothing, i think you are pretty much f'd. the fact that it randomly shut off sounds like something was fried.
good luck

Hmm I am thinking it is the battery I left it on the charger overnight and when I tried to boot it this morning my splash screen appeared for about 5 secs and then it shut off again. I am traveling for work right now worst possible time for this to happen. I'll thow a meter on it when I get home to test that out if the battery is good I am assuming something fried and it is a lost cause.
Thanks for the tips everyone I will also try an ADB boot when I return home as well

[Q] My Droid DNA's power button is stuck!

Hey all,
I have a Droid DNA that has not been rooted or have anything but stock ROM running on it. Today, I was using Snapchat when suddenly I get the box that pops up when you hold down the power button and then you choose whether to turn it off, restart it, or put it into airplane mode. Then, there's a notification that in 3, 2, 1, your device will be shut off.
After it shuts off, it goes into the infinite bootloop where it doesn't go past the HTC screen and I can't even do anything in the bootloader because it just restarts mid-pressing of the volume buttons.
I think the power button might be stuck, but it feels mechanically fine. I think it's stuck though because without even pressing the power button I could just hold VOLUME DOWN and still get into the bootloader for like 4 seconds.
Is there anything I could do?
Thank you so much in advance.

Take it back to verizon if its not rooted or anything, show them whats going on, they will probably tell you to send it in to be fixed.

I think I'm going to have to. I let it run its course until the battery died and was hoping to resurrect it by charging. However, now its not even charging. There's no orange LED (blinking or constant) to let me know the phone is charging. Damn.

[Q] Phone not rooted, but still stuck on fastboot mode

Hi,
Last week, I spilled a bit of beer on my Huawei Ascend G700. The phone started to turn the volume down at random moments when there were no buttons touched. I figured it was best to turn it off, pull out the battery, and let the phone dry.
It's been a few days now, but when I try to start the phone now, the only thing that happens is that only "=> FASTBOOT mode..." is showed in the bottom left corner. Nothing else, and it stays there until I pull the battery out.
I have tried disassembling the phone and clean it as far as I could, but it made no difference.
If I push the volume up button together with the power button it starts the recovery mode, but I can't do anything from there. And I can't connect to phone to my computer. (It isn't recognized).
I have found similar problems online, but with the difference that I have not rooted this phone. Is there a way to get the phone back working? I would like to keep the original firmware, if possible. For I can't think of a reason why it would be helpful to still try to root the phone.
So, the only thing that happened before my phone freaked out is that I have spilled a bit of beer on it (only a few drops, phone was in a case). Never rooted the phone. Phone was only a month old. I think it is running on android 4.2, but I'm not sure.
I think the volume down button is still making contact somehow as the beer has not dried off. Or maybe the button is being pressed somehow. I say this because when You power on an Android phone with power down key, it usually boots into fast boot. Try cleaning again.

I tried. I disconnected the connection cable from the volume button, but it doesn't make any difference.

Help! Can I turn on my HTC One Max without using the power button?

My One max's power button isnt working and my phone died. is there anyway to get it to turn on? I had the bootloader unlocked, cyanogenmod 13 and root.
Backstory: A while back, my volume keys were acting up and my phone would constantly go to low volume like if i was pressing and holding down the volume down button. Next thing you know, the power button isnt responsive and I cant wake my phone. The only way to get it to wake up was by getting a phone call. Sure enough I failed to keep my phone's battery charged and the phone died. I charged it and the battery is at 100% but i cant seem to turn it on. any ideas? thanks, I truely appreciate it. I know im going to have to get a replacement flex cable, but I dont want to wait for shipping to get it turned back on.
From one Moe to another...
My One max has behaved exactly like you described this summer and the last summer. Happens every time I answer a phone call with sweat going down my ears, it gets downright humid here! Usually fixes itself after a few minutes in front of a fan in an airconditioned room. By the end of last summer, I had to get the button strip replaced. Hope I am more careful this summer in order to keep it all in order this time around.
Last summer when I realized the power button was on its way out, I used Sense Toolbox (an Xposed mod) to set my device to wake from volume buttons. Of course that doesn't help if the phone dies from low battery like in your case.
(Edit: I also have a custom setting, I think also applied by Sense Toolbox, that wakes the screen when plugging in the charge cable. But this, too, only works when the device is fully booted and running.)
Maybe someone else can help with an obscure key combination. I dunno, maybe something like holding down the volume down button while plugging the charge cable in?!? Cuz my device (s-off, rooted, twrp, lollipop stock) starts charging in power down state, and I can see the splashscreen transition into the TWRP screen briefly flashing several times as it eventually gets into the charging screen (big green battery with percentage on the screen).
Cheers from Pakistan and Eid Mubarak!
