Phone: Droid Razr XT912 CDMA spyder
Current Custom Rom: Avatar Rom
Android Version on Custom Rom: 4.2.2
Kernel Version on Custom Rom: 3.0.8
Stock Rom Version: 4.1.2
Stock Kernel Version: 3.0.8
Current SafeStrap version: 3.11
I am trying to switch to [ROM] UnOfficial MIUIv5 Droid Razr xt912 CDMA 4.2.2 but do not quite know how?? The requirements for the ROM are what is causing me the hassle. MIUIv5 only works with kernel 3.0.8 and Jelly Bean 4.1.2 or 4.2.2, and can only be flashed using Safe Strap 3.65.
Do I have to completely unroot my phone and activate stock rom again and root again then re-download new version of safestrap then flash the desired rom, or is there an easier way? Plz help I am new to changing roms, walk me through the easiest way to go from Avatar Rom to MIUIv5.
No need to unroot or anythin.
Update your safestrap.
Delete and re-create the rom-slot.(MIUI works only in slot 1)
Wipe the slot,
Flash the ROM.

Thanks a ton for your help. One question, are you currently using MIUI v5? If you are, would you classify it as being stable? If not what are the some of the major issues that I should be aware of? Sorry for asking so much questions I just really want to sure myself that it is worth the switch. Thanks again for your help! Much Love! :good:

I used MIUI v5, and its stable as hell. All apps work and no random reboots. One of the best(if not the best) ROM on the Razr. Only issue i had that it ran a bit slow. Apps take marginally longer to open. Though i did not try JBX.

I'm using it at present in slot1
Its the most stable one for me. Everything works smoothly. The RAM usage is a little high, so you might need to freeze some system apps.
Overall, I'd totally recommended it.

Just sharing the information I saw today in Google+:
Motorola Droid RAZR/RAZR MAXX (XT910) and Motorola Droid RAZR (XT912) are now officially supported by CyanogenMod Team.
As they said in this post, the developers who are porting this ROM to us joined the CM family.
You can see the Device page here:

Hope we all could enjoy it's stable release soon!

Per the web site: "This is for XT912 with stock ICS KERNEL ONLY!"
Awesome... hope they solve the bluetooth issue soon.
We'll likely see it stick to ICS Kernel only until a bit after the official Jelly Bean OTA, at which point you'll start to see dhacker and Hash switch things over permanently. I still can't believe that a new Motorola device is supported, much less one as locked down as Verizon has the CDMA version haha. Kudos to both dhacker and Hash for their hard work on all this.

The bluetooth has been my biggest pet peeve with 10.1. I really wish I could use 10.1 daily but it doesn't make sense for me without bluetooth functioning correctly.

Running this with the 20th March nightly on SS3.11. Wondering if anyone has been successful getting it working under BMM or if anyone has even tried with CWM? Happy it works under SS but kind of perfer the way BMM opperates and would like to give it a go... any thoughts ??
Many thanks,

Well, I'm using it at the moment, so the current kexec official builds definitely work with BMM
JFYI, the kexec official builds also work after performing the OTA JB EU update. Just removed SS3.11 saved root with OTA Root Keeper, Flashed (held breath) booted all good.. renabled root, reinstalled SS.. booted into recovery, selected by CM10.1, wiped cache and dalvic (a few times each for good measure) rebooted and away she goes... now I've got 4.1.2 Stock and CM10.1 4.2.2 under SS. Happy Days!
working fine with bmm.there are some issues.but it is good enough for daily use.:good:
My wife's RAZR has been a lot less reliable ever since the last OTA.
I have rooted her stock 4.1.2 RAZR to get a good backup, and installed SafeStrap3.
I am looking for a ROM option to replace her stock 4.1.2 ROM, BUT ... it has to be a lot more stable than the current stock ROM. The first time that her phone has a random reboot, freezes, or drains her battery in 6 hours, she won't let me touch her phone again.
For whatever reason, her Motorola phone is a lot less reliable than my Galaxy S3. My GS3 can run for months without a hiccup.
Does anybody have a suggestion for a good, reliable RAZR ROM that I can load on her phone? Stability and good battery life are much more important than the running the latest KitKat beta build, so even a suggestion for a solid RAZR ROM from months ago would be appreciated.
Thanks!

i just wanted to suggest the ARTMOD.
good call! i confirm it can run on solid 50hrs+ with light usage.
Thanks, guys! I'll check out ArtMod.
Another thought crossed my mind: Is there a way to go back to the full 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US ROM (The one before the last OTA)? My wife seemed very satisfied with that one - At least it was more stable than the current release.
I would need to disable OTA updates if I went that route, I suspect.
Thanks,

No, You cannot downgrade once updated.
Also, I'd like to mention that most stable/best/reliable ROM/Kernel kinda threads are not allowed on xda-developers(Please refer the rules sticky). So refrain yourself from asking that.

Sorry neo.ank - I certainly was not intending on violating any forum rules.
Regarding going back to an earlier RAZR ROM, I know that I can't "downgrade" - but, that wasn't exactly the question. What I am wondering is if there is a way to go back to an earlier version by installing the "98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US" ROM into one of the slots in SafeStrap? I can't seem to find a copy of that ROM - I only found a copy of the OTA upgrade patch file. I may need a number of ROMs/patches to get to the previous version. But, I would also need to make sure I don't lose SafeStrap in the process, or her phone would get bricked - followed closely by me getting bricked ... and panned ... and potted ... and rolling pinned ... :silly:

Cool! Thanks!
I am VERY satisfied with using the latest Slimkat ROM.. build 3.2. It is very stable with the included kernel or you could flash the latest JBX kernel. Some have had issues with using JBX.. I have not, it has worked perfectly for me with great battery life and the ability to tweek CPU settings/ governor to your liking. I keep the stock moto in the stock slot and update everything about once a week and Slimkat in slot 1 using the max allowable partition values when I create slot 1. I Used TI backup to backup all my apps/app data, call log, messages onto the SD card, flashed Slimkat and JBX kernel in slot 1. Restored only user apps/data that I use, call log, and messages into Slimkat using TI backup and it has worked flawlessly since then.
The earlier versions had some kinks but they have all been worked out. Wifi, BT, wifi tether, all work perfectly. No crashes, freezes, or forced reboots. I'm paranoid about losing the stock stuff myself (why I keep it backed up and updated in Stock slot), she could do the same if it doesn't work for some reason, but seriously thinking of putting this in my stock slot and only having this one on my phone.

PS - get Matt's utility too and save in a safe spot for future use if SHTF and you need to go back for some reason to avoid those pots and pans and rolling pins...

Some of you may have noticed that there were some problems with the last few JBX builds. I was playing with some newer drivers, new HDMI implementation, etc, etc. But just today I pushed a new build which is really fast, stable and very satisfying power consumption. You might want to check it.

Thanks, everybody! Very useful responses! I think I am going to look at SlimKat Build 3.2 first ...
I have a few questions:
1) What does the JBX Kernel get me beyond the kernel embedded in SlimKat 3.2? Is it more stable than what comes with SlimKat? Will it let me under voltage to get better battery life?
2) If the more recent versions of JBX are unstable, what version of JBX Kernel should I be using?
Thanks,
AzJazz

As for JBX I have yet to try the new builds but for me I have been getting right around2 hours screen time without jbx. With I got 1 hour but that was on the 26 build. I will try now with the new builds usually I get around 3 hours screen time with jbx when it works right. You will just have to test it. Also why on slimkat 3.2? I like 4 it seams to work really well I started with slimkat 3.6 nothing lower. But then again I got the newest then. Hope this helps you out.
Hey, I didn't find any similar threads specifically for the verizon S4, but my question is whether or not i will keep root access if I do a factory reset on my i-545 NC5 running Android 4.4.2 through safestrap, or if there is a better way to clear up some memory. I want to flash Hyperdrive RLS18 through safestrap, but there is too much saved directly to the phone to make a decently sized slot. Any ideas on the best way to wipe the entire phone except for root access, safestrap, and my 4.4.2 ROM?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Well it's almost stable for AT&T, Verizon isn't officially supported. The problem right now is that Hashcode, the sole developer/genius who created and maintains Safestrap is stopping support on the project on Monday, because he got an awesome new job to focus on (congrats Hash). He said he was looking for people to continue the work but I haven't seen anything on who those devs would be or if anyone could even qualify.
I have the razr maxx and I passed it down to my hubby. It is still on ICS 4.0.4 running Evolution rom.
I am having trouble updating his google apps and can not get google play services on it in every way I have tried. It just keeps saying an error about being signed in to another user id.
Hubby hates when I make changes he is not a crack flasher LOL. I never even updated to JB because of this. But now it seems his apps he wants to use need a newer set of gapps?
Not sure can someone give me a rom or tell me how to do an update on this? Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated!

You don't have to update to JB because all KK roms are kexec (custom kernel) based roms,I'm still on ICS and every few days I flash another rom to test it
My advice is to try Gummy,Axxion,LiquidSmooth or Aosb rom, they are really good

I wasn't sure at all what I had to do
I have the xt912 with safestrap. I have been running a custom rom (Slimkat) on slot 1 but just running the rom uses up 3gb of internal memory that I really can't afford to lose. My solutions are as follows but I don't know if either one will work.
Solution 1. Replace the stock Rom with Slimkat.
Solution 2. move Slot 1 to my external SD card.
Any expreience? will either of these work?
Solution 1 will work flawless.
You just need latest SS and a compatible ROM.
You can flash it to stock slot.

I did it and it worked! It's still really laggy but that's a problem I was having on the stock rom too so I think I just ended up with a crappy phone. It DOES run a little smoother than when I was running it in Slot 1 though.
I can't change any governor settings because the locked bootloader means I'm still on the stock Kernel no matter what Rom I flash right?
Thanks for your answers!
Actually you can flash jbx kernel.
Its ss compatible and has great support for OC and UV.
Find it in dev section.
As for the lag, its like 3+ yrs old h/w config, its certainly not as fast as the latest gen but not like its unusable. It does great for me as a daily driver.

What are your settings for JBX, make sure you haven't set anything lower than it should be.
I you want an idea about the options, check out the JBX discussion thread in the general section.
