[Q] [HELP] I think i brick my phone... CWM reboot. - Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro

Hi guys.
Today i was trying to configure supersu, and i check one option that restarts my phone to clockwork mod, and everytime i try to boot, it goes to CWM, and not to the OS. I've tryed to flash other rom's but keeps going to CWM screen. I was trying to flash CWM via odin again, but i haven't used my phone in my new notebook, so i haven't the kies and samsung drivers, because of that, i think odin isnt recognizing the phone.
I install kies, install samsung drivers, but still odin don't recognize my phone.
The phone does not go to download mode too, only by CWM option.
Can someone help me?

just Flash CWM in odin again.
And never use shortcuts to Recovery mode again...
Edit: You can't go download mode and your pc don't recognize the phone? damn, i can't help, sorry

Finally, after many hours, i've succeed!
Had to uninstall samsung drivers, kies, reboot my windows, install again only samsung drivers, and put in to download mode directly, not selecting in the CWM.
After this odin recognize the phone and i was able to install again CWM, and the rom.
And i discovered what happened to my phone brick. When i updated supersu and actived pro version, was showed for me some update option, and i clicked in CWM instead normal.

To put your device in download mode, press Volume Down And Home And Power Button all together and when it vibrates release
Power Button but keep pressing left ones. You should have a triangle with an android janitor while it's saying downloading ..

download only samsing driver and then flash the cwm file using odin and this time check the auto reboot option..
for going in download mode:
press and hold volume down key+power+home and when phone vibrated release the power button but keep on holding the home button and volume down button..you will b in download mode..

flash cwm with auto boot option ticked problem solved, if it fails then re flash ROM.

Can I get into recovery mode with a faulty home button?

Can I get into recovery mode without a working home button? My i9100 has a faulty home button, phone is stuck on a bootloop will not get pass the samsung logo screen. I can flash the phone in odin with a stock rom and finish with success but still get stuck on bootloop. I think if I can get into recovery to wipe data then the phone will boot all the way. Any help is appreciated. I've searched but have found nothing solid. Thanks!
Buy a usb jig off ebay. plug it in then turn your phone on and it will put it into download mode.
e.g.

I can get into download mode by pressing and holding volume down + pressing and releasing power but still holding volume down when turning the phone on. But my question is, how do I get into recovery without home button?
Flash a matching Chainfire CF root kernel via Odin (phone in DL mode). This with install his Cwm app. Once rebooted, run app (give su permission), and choose to boot into either clockwork recovery, dl mode, or reboot.
Edit: But once in recovery, how do you plan to actually select anything when the home button doesn't work? ? ?

He cant boot up, he's stuck at boot logo so no way to use the cwm from chainfire
Oh dear without the home button it's hard to operate the phone. I think you can boot into recovery mode by using ADB, search on the forums or Google.
I would rather you have the home button replaced ot fixed.
Cheers!

Use can use QtADB to get into recovery - just tried, it works. But the option "flash zip" doesn't work, and of course,................
how do you plan to "select" anything if the home button doesn't work? ? ? Can't think of any way just yet.
---------- Post added at 03:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:49 PM ----------
If you have adb setup, and know how to use it;
1. Copy the Custom ROM.zip to your sdcard folder on the phone
2. Rename to "update.zip"
3. Run CMD and navigate to the sdk tool folder where adb.exe is
4. Run "adb reboot recovery" to enter recovery mode
5. Phone to boots into recovery screen
6. "apply: /sdcard/update.zip"
7. After finish, reboot into new ROM
Haven't tried it myself though on the SGS2 ..............
tried it, didn't work..
Lost my Home button after odin flash HELP
I am stuck a i9100 that has no home working home button after i botched my first odin flash. I can not seem to get the device to be recognized by ADB or ODIN now that its messed up. I can boot into the Android Recovery System e3, and i can move up and down in the menu, but the 'home' button i used to select options no longer works. I can not get it to boot out of that menu.
This is a Sprint branded i9100 from the United States... tho when i got it, it was already 'rooted' with Gingerbread-Eg30 however it did not state the firmware version. So after i used ODIN to ref lash it... it rebooted and killed my home key... Now i am not sure what to do. ADB is not finding the device listed and I can't seem to get it to take a rom. Any suggestions?
Prior to flashing this rom in odin i had a working home key which was used as part of the 3 button combo to ender flashing mode or to select an option in the stock recovery menu.
Any help would be great!

I am having the same problem. My I9100's home button doesn't work. I had cyanogenmod 10.1 and cwm recovery installed. Used the button saviour app to operate a virtual home button on screen. Updated to cyanogenmod 10.2. nightly yesterday. All seemed working. Today I found that some apps like Google Play and ROM Manager would crash on when started. So I thought I go back to cyanogenmod 10.1. Started the installation of 10.1 from the "about this phone" settings because ROM Manager crashed and I couldn't boot into recovery from the crashing ROM Manager.
So, I now flashed a stock firmware from samfirmware.com with ODIN (because I can get into download mode with the USB-Jig), but that stock rom stucks in a boot loop.
Any suggestions? I believe, I am stuck in boot loop because I couldn't wipe the phone before flashing. Is there any way to wipe it in download mode?
Or can you be more specific, how to flash a "full wipe rom" and post a link where I can download such a rom?
1. Don't use rom manager on i9100, sure way to screw things up /brick.
2. Get the hardware sorted before you muck around with software. As you have found out, it's easy to get into a situation where you need the hardware to function correctly.
3. Download JB leak (stock firmware) from samfirmware and flash it via Odin. It's a 3 part firmware, and will wipe as it flashes.

Ace Totally Bricked

I usually work with iPhones so Android phones are a new field for me...
I have a friend who rooted his Samsung Galaxy Ace and then installed Android 2.3.4 but he decided to install something as he says that "doubles the ram memory of the device" well as soon as he installed this the phone immediatelly got bricked.
I have it here in my hands and I tried entering RECOVERY, DOWNLOAD mode and it was impossible.
So I tried pressing all the button (Vol+,Vol-, Home and Power) and the device was USB recognized by my PC,installed its own drivers but nothing showed up on the screen. Then I pressed Home and Power and USB sound ran again and from there on the phone does not react to any combination of buttons, taking out the battery or anything and the PC does not see it anymore.
I tried to be as specific as possible cause I really want to help this guy... So If anyone knows what are the possible solutions besides "take it to samsung care center" I'd really appreciate it!
Thansk!
Install KIES from Samsung so you have the drivers for the phone.
Install ODIN and run on your pc so you can flash a stock ROM (you don't need to have KIES running at the same time)
Take the battery out of the phone and connect it to the pc with ODIN running via USB.
If ODIN detects the phone put the battery back in and now you can flash with a stock rom and your phone will now work.
There are instructions on this forum where to find ODIN and how to load a ROM into it ready to flash.

I'd save that for plan B, If it's showing up on a PC it's not bricked.
Bricked = no power, no response, no detect by pc no nothing.

But Can I download any ODIN? Because I've seen through the forum that there are several ODINs for different Samsung Models... besides there are several ODIN versions! So which one do I need to download? Please a little help here cause in the Android field I'm still a noob!
Also as I told you, the first time the PC recognized the phone when I pressed ALL the buttons... but afterwards it does not recognize it anymore... does it have to do anything with that KIES you are just telling me about? Also which KIES should I download?
Thansk!
To me it doesnt wounds like its "Totally Bricked", take the battery out and leave if there for awhile, come back later on and see if you can enter download mode.
If you want you drivers to be installed correctly, download the KIES (2.1 i guess?) and get ODIN to reflash it.

Ok... this is as far as I have come.... The guide for unbricking seems good, there is only one problem. I've already Loaded ODIN with the firmware files and boot, and all those files. But I can NOT, I repeat I can NOT enter DOWNLOAD MODE (Vol-,Home, Power Buttons). I can only enter EMERGENCY DOWNLOAD MODE (Vol+,Vol-, Home and Power Buttons) and the good news is that ODIN is ABLE to recognize it, BUT as soon as I hit star it stays stuck at "<1> setup connection..." Well before you start saying to search forum for solutions, well I did, and I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188378
The guy had this same problem and he realized his problem was that he was entering EMERGENCY DOWNLOAD MODE rather than DOWNLOAD MODE. BUT I can NOT enter DOWNLOAD MODE the phone just doesn't enter this mode, only the EMERGENCY DOWNLOAD MODE so what can I do to make ODIN flash my phone!!????? Please help!!

This was my last resort and now I don't know what to do! But pay attention the funny thing, AS I mentioned earlier in ALL my posts! Is that the phone is recognized by ODIN but only in EMERGENCY DOWNLOAD MODE (It even says "COM PORT 18") But in this mode ODIN doesn't flash it, I needed DOWNLOAD MODE which was the reason why I bought the USB JIG, but it is not working! Is there a some kind of workaround to get the JIG working? PLEASE I REALLY REALLY need help!!!

S5830i - not recorgnised - win 7 SOLVED!
Hi All,
Just had a horrible day after I killed my little Ace flashing a CM ROM (my fault). Knew I needed to flash stock via Odin....
Went like this - collect all the stock rom files etc from various XDA forums. Thanks for those!
Go into download, open Odin.
"Device has malfunctioned, Windows does not recognise it".
I have 2 laptops running Win 10. and PC running Win 7. I have maybe 7 USB leads.
Went through every computer, every port, reinstalled all drivers every time, no joy. Poor little Ace stuck in download mode waiting. Nothing recognised it.
In some flash of inspiration I took phone OUT of download mode, wiped data, wiped cache and told it to reboot - this was stock recovery too, had fried CWM. It got stuck in it's Galaxy Ace screen as it had when it died....I plugged it in....and holy moly, Windows now recognised. The drivers finally installed successfully and Odin agreed with WIndows by recognising it in the COM box.
Yay me!
Thought I'd post since I've been fighting this all day and maybe it will help somebody else avoid that.
Cheers and good luck!

[Q] Galaxy S II GT-9100 shows: Firmware upgrade encountered an issue after unrooting.

Hello everybody,
About 2 months ago I rooted my Galaxy S II and flashed the Resurrection Remix Jelly Bean ROM v3.0.6 for Galaxy S2 i9100 with a Siyah kernel. (As I am new to this forum I can't post links, but I got it from Galaxys2root . com
But yesterday I encountered an issue and my phone was shutting down constantly, so I decided to unroot it/flash back to stock ICS firmware.
I used galaxys2root . com(galaxy s2 unroot) too to try unrooting it .
I used Odin3 v1.85 to flash the stock firmware but it just stopped at about 75% (stupid as I am I forgot to write down the error.)
CWM was installed with the root but I don't have it anymore so I can't use recovery to use a backup (which I had made) and when I got in download mode in the top left it says Product Name:GT-9100
Custom Binary Download: Yes (2 counts)
Current Binary: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
Also my PC doesn't recognize my phone in Odin, even when reinstalling Samsung Kies.
When I boot my phone it now says: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
But as Kies doesn't work, it won't even start on my PC, I don't know how to fix my phone,
The main problem is that Odin does not recognize the phone even when reinstalling drivers and Kies, with Odin working I could flash the CF-Root or would that be dumb to do?
Now the question: How can I get my phone back to work?
Thanks.
click on volume up + home key + power to boot into recovery and then do a factory reset, after reset cleck go back, then reboot phone.
If it is a software issue, your phone should work.

Well, I tried that but the message keeps showing up, I can only reach download mode. It looks like the root is gone?
Also, do you mean recovery like CWM Recovery or is there a standard recovery on the S II?
there is a standard recovery on the phone which is replaced when rooted to a newer version.
If something has happen to the root, it should default back to recovery 3e that comes with the phone.
okay I am going to try the following: Removing battery, put it back in, Volume up+Home button+Power button and I'll see what happens.

Still getting the same error message..
Would it work if I use a .PIT file and check re-partition in Odin? (if i get Odin to recognize the phone, maybe on another pc)
You might want to try all pc's usb ports, the usb cable and also download an older/newer Odin version.
If non of the above works, it's time for you to try another PC.
PS: you did read this, right?
ok just got back from school, I would try it now if my telephone would work.
problems seem to have got worse, I charged it the whole night, atleast, I thought i did. I just put it in download mode when it gives me the message:
"Load Battery!! Can't download!!" do you know how I can make this work?
So at this point my main problem ,besides the battery, is that I can't get Odin to detect my phone but I will try it on another computer.
take bat off and reinsert it.
I don't know what to put here...any ideas?
well, I don't know if it matters but my phone doesn't display the charging screen. Is that a problem?
hum....yeah.
I don't know what to put here...any ideas?
and it doesn't say "load battery" it says "low battery" But that is almost the same
I don't think so....never heard that expression before.
I don't know what to put here...any ideas?

charge your bat in another device, or manually.
I don't know what to put here...any ideas?
I will charge it first, and use another phone, and then try the guide you linked to and then report to you.
tried it on another pc and it still doesn't work, Odin3-v1.85 does not detect my phone. If it would I could get it back to work but without Odin the only option I can think of is sending it back to Samsung, without warranty, and paying it myself. Or are there more ways to get Odin to detect it, or are there other tools like odin?
Do all Checklist:
Reinstall PC drivers
Charge your phone, just plug it in a charger atleast 5 hours.
Boot to recovery.
Flash using this guide
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...t/482994-rooting-galaxy-s2-dummies-guide.html
and go to Jelly bean!!! leave ICS...
That Tut worked for me...
Check Odin version aswell is that the latest?
ok I will try that, I'm going to charge it now. Btw how do you reinstall PC-drivers? Reinstalling Kies or the Samsung Drivers?

Should I do this while it is in download mode?
I will try to explain what happened: I was flashing the stock ICS firmware, it was doing the FACTORYFS (don't know if it is a file) when it suddenly failed, but Odin still detected my phone. I retried it and that probably made it worse because after that Odin didn't detect my phone anymore. And that is the main problem

Hello
My friend just gave me I777 with this problem cause he bought a new phone, he couldn't tell me exactly when he got that "connect to kies". I never flashed anything or installed any rom's, I just want to get it back to life. Any solutions for me?

Can you put the phone into download mode? I would assume the answer is yes if you still get the "connect to kies" message. Following are detailed instructions for getting into download mode.
Download Mode:
There are several ways to put the phone into download mode. You should try all of them that you can before you give up.
Recovery mode:
With the phone off (and not connected to the computer), and battery installed, hold all three buttons, vol- vol+ pwr continuously until the initial boot screen appears the second time.
Download mode:
1. With the phone off and connected to the computer via USB cable, and battery installed, hold all three buttons, vol- vol+ pwr.
2. With the phone off and battery installed, hold vol- and vol+ (but not pwr) while plugging in the USB cable.
3. With the phone off and battery installed, hold vol- (but not vol+ or pwr) while plugging in the USB cable.
4. Attempt each of the above three options with the battery removed from the phone. The computer will supply the power to the phone.
5. Use Android Debug Bridge (adb) which will only work if USB debugging has been already turned on in Developer Options, since you can't boot into the system to turn it on. With the battery installed and the phone connected to the pc via USB cable, use the command "adb reboot download".
6. Use a USB jig. With the battery installed insert the USB jig into the USB connector of the phone. Some have reported that this method works when no other method would work.
If the phone will go into download mode, you will need to use Odin desktop to flash the stock firmware. You should use the latest stock firmware. Go to the Download Repository and download Odin3 v1.85 from the link near the top of the page, and also download the latest stock firmware, "I777UCMD8 Stock Binaries (Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean)" from near the bottom of the page. It's the next to last item. Download both to your Windows pc, and then follow the detailed instructions below to flash it onto your phone.
How to use stand-alone Odin3 to flash firmware:
Follow and recheck each of the following steps. Do them in order listed, as some steps are dependent on previous steps. Instructions are for Odin3 v1.85. It should work with any version of Odin, but some details, like color of items, may be different.
1.) Open Odin on the Windows Desktop.
2.) Have the USB cable plugged into USB port on the computer, but *Not* plugged in to the phone.
3.) Shut the phone off.
4.) While holding down the vol+ & vol- keys, plug micro-usb plug into phone.
5.) In Odin, you should get the yellow box under where it says ID:COM with the text 0:[COMx], and in the Message area, <ID:0/00x> Added!! where x is some number, usually 1-8.
6.) In Odin, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked and all other items are not checked.
7.) Click on the PDA button. Browse to the tar file you want to install and select it so its path appears in the text edit box next to the button.
8.) Make sure the check box next to the PDA button is checked.
9.) Click the Start button.
10.) You should see the green progress bar advancing.
11.) When complete, you will get a PASS (or FAIL if unsuccessful).
The phone should boot up normally. If it does not, enter recovery (see instructions in the download mode section) and perform a wipe data/factory reset.
