Yeah, I'm the one that did the bringup for the I777 (with help from many of the n7000 guys for general 4.4 bringup stuff).
Just as a warning the device is pretty low on my priorities list - it's kind of in automode. Of course, submissions to Omni gerrit are always welcome![...]

Also, formatting both internal and external SD cards to exfat seem to solve the immediate issue, but do not solve the root fuse-daemon problem.
The internal SD card of the i777 can be formatted via ADB console in windows, or using exfat-utils in ubuntu

NOTES:
GApps: The size of full Gapps packages crowds /system, preventing the use of other /system based units (art, xposed, etc). Micro Gapps + google play installation of desired addons is a more efficient approach considering the resources available.

SURVIVAL: Go to super SU settings and install backup script. Root will survive updates. As for gapps, most installs include backup scripts. You don't need to re-flash them.
in system/addon.d, you should have a 99-supersu.sh, and 70-gapps.sh backup scripts, which survive the Rom update.
The script backs up beforehand and will restore after the flash.
From the backup script..
#!/sbin/sh
#
# /system/addon.d/99-supersu.sh (root:root 755)
# During an upgrade, this script backs up SuperSU-related files,
# /system is formatted and reinstalled, then the files are restored.

How to install CWM from TWRP?

Boot into TWRP recovery
choose Install
Go to emmc to acces the internal sdcard and go to where you have the kernel with cwm( Siya, AJK, STI)
Flash the Kernel, when finished DON'T TOUCH REBOOT SYSTEM, Just go back to previous screen and choose the reboot to recovery option.
You will boot into CWM now and will be able to wipe everything without issues...

MobileOdin Install:
(procedure verified working (running SHOstock & Jeboo Kernel, & AT&T stock-rooted firmware) as of 2013-12-13 12:49):
With your phone on fully booted into (whatever ROM)
1) Gather all necessary flash files onto internal sdcard before performing these steps.
---a) Boot.IMG (extracted from omni-4.4.x-latesti777-nightly.zip)
---b) MrCook's ROM wipe.zip
---c) Omni-nightly.zip
---d) PA GApps (optional)
---e) SuperSU (optional)
2)Mobile-odin flash Omni's boot.img
>>the phone will try to reboot, but will likely fail. Three-finger salute (with the USB cable UNPLUGGED), until you are in TWRP recovery<<
3) [install] > [COOK'S ROM WIPE.zip] > [add more zips] > [omni-4.4.x-latesti777-nightly.zip] > [add more zips as desired] >>swipe to confirm flash>> [reboot system]

Could you provide the steps in which you flashed this rom? I wiped both flashes, system and data. I've tried flashing 3 times now, but the only thing it'll do is reload and then go back into recovery mode.
I've always noticed that it says:
"script succeeded: result was [/system]"
Any help with the direction I should take?

Steps:
1) mr cook's ROM wipe script
2) Flash Omni
3)Flash PA 4.4 Gapps

I factory reset, wiped cache, wiped dalvik, installed Omni, installed Gapps, and rebooted phone.

I used the gapps linked in RenderBroken's 4.4. I also had to use the supersu option as root didn't show up.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

You may also need to update your recovery by flashing the last CM Nightly. Thats what i did and I had no issues.

OmniRom nightlies for i777 use TWRP RECOVERY
I haven't been this happy about a release in god knows how long. I just did a FULL-ON HAPPY DANCE!

@Entropy512, I didn't mean to steal your thunder, I was excited to share your released work with the community.

I have tried manually wiping and formatting, along with using the rom script by cook. Both yields the same results for me. All 4 tried have been from the 11/26 CM 10.2 nightly.
Basically, after my wiping and flashing processes, the phone just reboots into recovery again.

I'm running this one.

I'm running the 1127 nightly with PA-Gapps (Modular Full).
When you're playing music on either the built-in player or Google Music, you get a ~1sec audio error (not a skip, more like a digital stutter) when the screen goes off and when you unlock.
I also switched to ART to see if it made any difference in the above. It didn't.
Not huge, just reporting.

SlimKat 2.6 RC2 on i777 Internal Storage Problem

I know i777 does not officially have SlimKat so I apologize if it's not appropriate to ask this question.
I'm using SlimKat 2.6 RC2 from 9100 forum and got one problem. My internal storage goes haywire out of no where. It does that I have ~300MB available but I've only used up around 200 MB to include cache data. The bar on top of the screen shows that I still got plenty of space left. I tried clearing everything and even re-flash but nothing help.
After a full re-flash it would be fine, but as soon as I install an app, the available internal memory would drop.
Any help is greatly appreciated it. Thank you!
I'm on the same rom as you, so I just checked my storage: sorry to report that mine is working fine - and I think yours is also. When you wipe in recovery, you must format /system, along with the other stuff (if you aren't already doing that).
My advice would be to use a file explorer and manually check what you have filling up your phone. If you were recently on a stock rom I would manually delete the preload folder (the only danger in doing that is it might corrupt a backup of a stock rom, if you have one. If you don't have that type of backup, delete away), or even something like this app can help: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard
Yes, You need to format system from Recovery and that should fix that, by the way do you install this rom with CWM or TWRP?? Because my i777 with kitkat the phone keeps rebooting itself i dont know why

You shouldn't have any trouble porting that rom, but because it's based on CM and not Slim, you can't use Renders' Slim kernel. I would suggest the TWRP CM version, only because I've not used the CWM version personally, but you shouldn't have any issues. Just make sure you follow the OP instructions and use the gapp package they suggest.

Thanks for the help. If you look at the screen shot I included, the top bar says there's still plenty of room left. So, in actuality, the phone is almost empty with the exception of the 2 apps I installed (SuperSU and TiBu). Maybe there's just bad remnant of previous ROMs. I came from AoCP to SlimKat.
Anyhow, I reflash the rom again without using MrCook's wipe script and pretty much wipe and format everything that's possible. The phone is somehow working normally now *finger crossed*. I think the problem is the /data. MrCook's script doesn't format /data, and I never had to format data, only /system. But this time, I include /data with all the formatings. But who knows, it could be something else.
Thanks again.
Edit: I take it back, I just looked over mr-cook's wipe script and the script does format /data...so not sure what's the problem was.
Edit 2: Just in case anybody is reading this thread. Don't use mr-cook's wipe script for SlimKat 2.6, wipe and format everything manually. I just tried again with the RC3 and mr-cook's wipe script didn't clear everything so my internal storage was still filled up from previous ROM. Just FYI.

Formatting /system didn't help, I format /system every time I flash new ROM. But to your question, I'm using Render's TWRP and do not get any reboot so far.
So let me get this straight, and please quote me; we can actually flash ROMs from the i9100 forum as long as steps are taken to manually format partitions? Cause man, I've just been dying to give SlimKat a whirl on my i777, along with checking out other ROMs there. The i777 just doesn't seem to be as popular as its counterpart.

That's as straight as it can be from me. I have i777 and is using SlimKat 2.6 RC3 weeklies with RenderBroken's kernel right now. I don't know about others but I have to manually wipe it. Also, I'm using TWRP when I do the wipes so I'm not sure if mr-cook's wipe script works differently with TWRP and CWM or not. Either way, manually wipe everything with TWRP is my way of doing it now.
And hmm, I don't know about ROMs but SlimKat works, and you need RenderBroken's kernel for it to work completely because 9100 doesn't have the same buttons as i777.

This is true, but the real reason you can only use Renders' slim kernel on SlimKat is because they use different ramdisks: no other kernel will work on that rom.
For other i9100 KK roms, his TWRP and CWM kernels work, so for those not based on Slim you can use whichever you prefer.

You only need to manually format /system when installing other roms, along with the usual factory reset/wipe data stuff. As long as you install a rom after you format system, the order doesn't matter.
Example, you could format system first then factory reset - the order is irrelevant. What the system format is doing is removing the current system installed on the device (the OS). All a factory reset does is restore the current rom to basic factory settings - it doesn't erase anything in terms of the OS.
That's why formatting /system (especially when changing bases) is so important; it prepares the device for the new rom you install by allowing a clean install every time.

The Slim team doesn't approve of ports, I'm afraid you'd get shut down. I think people would like it, but I'd advise against posting it.
The workaround would be to build your own version from source, with additions from other roms. That way it isn't a straight port.

You know, if you're capable, I'd say just join the Slim Team. They discontinued i777 probably because of lack of device or developer. So if you can port/dev, why not just join the team and head up the i777 development. And since the i9100 and i777 is practically the same device, it wouldn't be too hard to work with the i9100 dev team. Just a thought.
I'm using the SlimKat 3 with Render's latest CWM test kernel and everything is working well so far.

Entirely clear,
but one thing I am not clear (in general) about the internal SD memory: moving from KitKat to Lollipop ROM by using TWRP recovery should I format the internal SD (or delete all content manually)?
In generally, I didn't understand if there's an incompatibility of data applications residues coming from KitKat that might annoy Lollipop.
Thanks in advance

/system format means your Android system is removed
/data format means your apps are erased
/cache format means.. pretty much what it says
That's all what you need for a new ROM. It's called a "clean flash"
A dirty flash would be the above, but without formatting /data. This retains the installed apps and their settings, but it might upset the new system and cause incompatibilities. It's not a recommended move.
But now, if, for some reason (like selling your phone), you'd like to "FULLY wipe" the phone
/data/media fully wipes your visible folders (not system ones, but the one where apps stores data files, photos, images, music etc)
So wiping Data is mandatory? No way to keep the apps, when coming from an older stock rom 10l?
Download link? I tried all links but only ads become in my screen...

Yes, always do when between different Android or ROM versions. Dirty flashing usually only works without issues when upgrading from a ROM version (example) 4.0 to 4.1 etc. But going from Kitkat to Lollipop it is required or the phone may not boot at all. There are obviously plenty of tools to help with backup/restore of apps+settings, but time spent on fresh install well spent compared to fixing issues or doing it all over again later.
Please anyone who downloaded this rom upload the kernel
Hi i have a few questions about this rom
1-is it necessary to install a 4.4.2 rom and then flash this rom or i can clean flash this rom over android HD 4.0 rom that i have right now ?
2-is this rom smooth or it has lags ?
3-how much screen time do u get with this rom?
Thanks in advance
Stupid quesiton, sorry, delete this post.

Yes, if he does this and also bring ext4 support of SD cards, I will call him a legend or god or whatever he wants.

Hi,
I'm on SlimSaber 21/12. I :installed your kernel but I have some troubles with from first installation:
- I got an advise log saying that my partitions are corrupted (I have a resized 1gb /System
- I can't either reinstall the kernel, recovery or ROM because "install zip on /storage/sdcard0" says there are no files (and I can't explore away).
- WiFi does not finish to be enabled (no networks shown).
Did I miss something when I flashed?
Thank you for your effort.

Something went wrong with the installation? I would advise you to go into stweaks, go to the 'other' tab and find 'fix data'. Enable it and reboot. Note: Make sure you have a backup of all of your apps!

Thank you.
While installing no errors were shown.
After first booting, the log error about partition corrupted (and the recommendation to go into stweaks to enable "fix data") was shown. I followed the recommendation, but problems remain. Maybe I did not a full clean installation of the kernel? (just wiped cache and dalvik).
First thing I tried was to go back into recovery and reinstall the kernel but, as I said previously, recovery is not able to explore folders (appears as /storage/sdcard0 unmounted, but mounting does not work either) .
Any advise to reinstall the kernel or the same ROM without passing by ODIN?
Need to say that the phone boots and "works" (seems very busy though), but the problems wrote in my previous post are there.
Thanks.
Edit: I forgot saying that when going into STweaks, a message appears at the beginning during a second:"Unexpected error!" and later disappears and goes into the tool as usual.
Edit 2: Reflashed SlimSaber from adb sideload and everything came back. It would be nice if you could indicate some indications in order to do a proper install of this kernel.

I'm glad you solved your problem. To install the kernel properly, follow these steps:
1. Download sgs2kernelwipe by hawker onto your phone(you can find it in gustavo kernel thread).
2. Download the latest version of dorimanx kernel onto your phone
3. Reboot your phone into recovery
4. Install the kernel wipe zip first
5. Then install the kernel
6. Reboot
(Note: I assume you know how to flash everything already so I simplified it).
Also, I advise you to wait until a newer build is released as the current personal build has some problematic bugs.
I was able to install this kernel, but my internal sdcard partition was not detected properly, on sdcard0 there was a 300MB empty partition instead of my 10 gig one.
I'm on the latest Markox CM, had Gustavo's kernel previously and used the kernel cleanup script. Have a modified PIT with bigger data partition and small preload.
After flashing back Gustavo's, everything's fine.
EDIT: forgot to say, my internal sdcard is ext4 formatted

There are still a lot of issues with the personal build of dorimanx. If you still want to use dorimanx, stick with the unofficial dorimanx by cybernetus. The problem is caused either by the recovery or broken implementation of something.

Which version of personal build are u using.. I have installed build #2 and have no problem with root in my spare s2..
It could be many reason for receiving unexpected error
* Go to settings app and select ->developer options->root access-> Apps
* Check whether u have installed binary after flashing Dorimanx Personal build
* Dont update su app from playstore and use the SU app that came with kernel.
unable to download
Can someone share a working link for builds 2 and 3 please? Thanks
Hey just some quick results about my experience so far with Build 3
I'm on slimsaber 21/12/2014, coming from Cybernetus 10.44v007. It's a fairly new wipe but i've been having major issues with it prior to the personal build of dorimanx.
WiFi password kept being forgotten. This happened 7 or 8 times. I managed to fix it by typing in the password, connecting, selecting "forget network" and then typing it in again.
Battery drain seems comparable to my previous settings, WiFi is significantly faster to connect and unless I'm seeing things, signal seems much stronger too.
I used fstrim (lagfix) and everything went better than expected. Phone responsiveness seems to be through the roof (whether this is trim or something else, its pretty night and day).
So far all stable.
i cani can't move big apps in sd card. what's a problem
ext4
Hello guys,
someone here is using this kernel with ext4 on the internal sd card? As soon as i switch to the kernel, my internal ext4 formated card doesnt get mounted, until i switch to stock kernel again.
Somebody also have ext4 successfull running? Or is it only me with this mount problem?
I hope someone could give a try in LP kernel to full support init.d and swap. Basically, S2 lacks of memory, and I already acomplished the internal<->external memory swap fix, by using apollo's kernel, 'cause it have init.d support. But it lacks the support to OC. DorimanX in that matter, have a well balanced kernel for JB and KK. With the possible LP support we could have a very good balanced performance for our excelent phone, with 4 years old! It's a matter of time...

Try Paragon's app. Should help you with the support automatically and it's free. But I think DorimanX's kernel already support that filesystem.
It's there any problem If I'll flash V8.44v005 over stock kernel with 3e recovery?

hi,
I flashed your kernel (Kernel_Dorimanx-V10.44-_15-20_-_27-01) from Kernel_Dorimanx-V10.44v008.
then the stweak stop working. when launching it, all i get is the title bar and that is it.
tried to reset the stweak settings from the recovery, wipe dalvik and cache, and use HawkernelWipeV1.02, and then re-flash.
also tried to reset the superSU permissions for the stweak.
also - maybe i should mention - that lag fix button is greyed out - and says that TRIM is not supported.
what am i doing wrong??
btw the ROM i'm using is the latest cm11 nightly..+ updated superSU and busybox.
BIG thanks for all the good people around here!

Nice! The original Pure Nexus cured my flash addiction because it's such a great ROM - now the addiction is back.
Will definitely try this one. Thanks for building this!
Has this been updated with the latest inclusions? or is it based on the 17/08 release? Thanks
What are the benefits of building with Uber toolchain?
I'm also curious if the latest layers commits were included here or not.

and thereafter, it jz dosent finish.
I waited for 15 min and then rebooted ph into bootloader and then again to TWRP. But this time with red text E: Unable to mount System.
I am not able flash any rom neither able to boot.

I have solved this by below method.
EDIT: Go to wipe select partition one by 1
Select System - Click Change or Repair partition
Select Data - Click Change or Repair partition (Will Wipe all of ur N5 SD Card)
Select any Rom Zip (just rom zip, flash gapps after 1st successful boot). Your N5 partitions are ready.

The same happend here.
But I rebooted into TWRP, did a factory reset, wiped manually cache, dalvik cache, system and data....unmounted system...and restored my nandroid.
No losses of data from sd card
I hope that it will be fixed soon

r16 is out now.
Edit: Just downloaded today's build but it doesn't seem to flash, just like the others reported. It's stuck at "Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found..." forever but then finally moves on after about 10 minutes.

i9100 rooted works with 11.xx but not 12.xx or higher.

Well I decided to repartition my i9100 so I could get GAPPS with CM13...
Used oden to reformat with a pit = i9100_Preload_Area_Moddified_Pit_Files_-_NOT_FOR_STOCK_ROMS! (3)\I9100_12GB data - 45mb preload.pit per site upgrade, and PDA = samsung1012\kk-kernel-04-02-CWM-for ODIN.tar . Now it all only works with CM 11.XX with gapps. If I go to upgrade to later releases 12 or try 13 I get the CG face forever.
I am really frustrated as it was all ok under 13.xx minus gapps and I wanted to use Google apps.
Thanks.

Once you have flashed the pit file and kernel, switch off the phone.
Then -
1. Reboot to recovery(CWM)
2. Format sdcard0(internal sd card), preload, system, data, cache
3. Wipe dalvik/art cache
4. Install rom + gapps etc. as per rom thread instructions
5. Reboot and wait for a good 10-15 minutes if needed for system to install

Whatever rom/gapps you want to flash. The bigger 1gb /system is required for CM13(or any MM rom) with gapps. If you use pico gapps(open gapps) you can install most LP roms without modifying /system, but it is recommended anyway
I have the same issue. Have flashed multiple pit files (1GB/3GB, 1GB/6GB etc) and tried cm12 and cm13 and they both are not working. Have tried flashing the TWRP recovery etc. CM11 is working fine, 12 and 13 not

I have di=one what you suggested and have CM13 and gapps working but have one odd sympton. SD1 (external) is fine. System seems fine repartitioned but it shows SD0 as unformatted? I wa ssure to reformat I believe when I went through the process. Is this tyical?
Thank to the help of this forum my Galasxys2 is running perfectly 6.1 with gapps and reformatted. I did this again :
Once you have flashed the pit file ie: home, down power - Connect via usb (with correct samsung drivers) to P.C running oden 3.4 with these preloadsd flas the pit file and kernel, (reformat selected in Ooden) , Up key teh phone and when done switch off the phone.
Then -
1. Reboot to recovery(CWM) with Home, up, power.
2. Format sdcard0 (internal sd card), then data, cache, system, preload,
3. Wipe dalvik/art cache
4. Install rom (CM13) latest release + gapps(6.1) per above etc. as per rom thread instructions pre installed on my SD1 in a dedicated folder in the phone.
5. Reboot and wait for a good 10-15 minutes if needed for system to install
The trick I found was the sequence of formats after doing the pit remap and initial load. I tried and got failure on "preload formatt so did in the order above and it worked. Thanks PPL. esp Noppy22. A 64 YO bloke repartitioning and flashing his phone. 26 YO son simply went and bought a new nexus.
Format
Spoke too soon The internal SD 0 will not format and the camera and other stuff that uses it won't work. CM13 and gapps all great. What can I do.
Doh. I had the wrong kernel and formatted the sd0 xfat and all works now.
