Change your phone to 240 DPI - Galaxy Note II Themes and Apps

I was looking for safer way to change the screen DPI to 240, but was a bit worried about installing any mods. Instead of installing apps, I thought of modding them using Xposed App Settings. For now, I have just changed the UI to 240 DPI and am looking at doing the same for other apps.
For those who are interested, below are the tweaks that I did (will continue to add them as and when I get them correctly on my phone).
I am using [N7100 MK4][23Nov]Dr.Ketan's Custom ROM V5 Deodexed|Prerooted|Note3 Fs, but this should also work with other ROMs too.
Note: I am just sharing what I have learnt and tried. But am not responsible for any kind of issues that you may face.
Install Xposed Installer and App Settings module (check out the respective threads for instructions). Once its ready you are all set to go.
Change the System UI
In the app, search for: System UI.
Activate it and make the following changes:
- DPI: 240
- Screen: default
And then click Save
Repeat the same steps for
Contacts
Chrome
Hangouts
Music Hub - Change the DPI for both Music and Music Hub
ES File Explorer
S Note
Email
Change TouchWiz home
In the app, search for: TouchWiz Home.
Activate it and make the following changes:
- DPI: 320
- Screen: default
And then click Save
Repeat the same steps for Camera,
Check back later for updated list.

Yes, even I have used it, but I did not find options to revert back if required. Its better with Xposed, only change those that you like

Agree, and in no way I am saying your mod is not good. I used them for quite sometime.
Took this approach to avoid reflashing, when you can disable it without reflashing.

Changes to 'Android System'
DPI to 240, and the Screen (dp) to 800x1280 also made magical changes on 412...havent tried on 4.3 yet- if i remeber correctly it made the windows float too and be resizable.
TW launcher looks good even at 295 better than 320 !!

no issues so far...

The best is UI SWITCHER, you can change/switch whatever dpi you want. I'm using it flawlessly in my DN3V3. Just had to change the contact dpi to 320 with screen dp 800*1280, and using lg keyboard which is the best of the universe or you guys can use vinney's 240 dpi modded keyboard if you need to use direct input. That's all and BOOM!

If you can post a link to the apk for the UI Switcher, it would be good.

[HOWTO] ICS At 210 DPI with tablet apps/views

Thought I'd post this for fun for anyone trying to get the mini tablet experience. Its not perfect but its very usable.
Known bugs
- No notification bar (dies with SytemUI)
Use any of the ICS releases floating around the forums.
Install Go launcher EX as your launcher.
Use Go Launcher as your default home option.
Set home screen grid columns to 6 and rows to 7.
Change your build.prop DPI settings to 210 (Rom Toolbox app does this nicely).
Reboot.
On reboot systemUI will crap out, just let it die twice and then it will go away.
Install the Switches widget in for Go Launcher to add settings shortcuts for your wifi, GPS, screen etc (this will act as a replacement for not having them in notification bar)
Change your Icon and Font sizes in Go Launcher if you want them bigger
Like I say far from perfect but very usable and you can enjoy the goodness of tablet apps and views on your note.
Piccies attached.
If you want a solid solution for running apps at their own custom DPI without having to mess around with your systems default DPI then take a look at this bounty thread and offer your support...

Whenever I change the dpi, even to 240, all the text is to small. Am I doing something wrong?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
No that is what will happen, you are maximising the use of your super high resolution on this device. In Go Launcher you can change the font size for your labels to make them bigger.
System UI will crash repeatedly, each time the OS tries to use it.
I would say that makes tablet mode unusable at this point, but tantalizingly just out of reach.

That's what I thought too, but as I am using third party everything it doesn't seem to be an issue so far. At least it's something to play with until one of the genius devs finds a native way to support this properly.

I absolutely love the tablet mode, but I think I am addicted to the notification bar more. haha
I wish the apps that had a tablet mode built in had some sort of option to choose tablet mode or phone mode within the app.
Nice find!

That's just an app to change it though right? I was wondering if apps support different dpi on gingerbread?
Multi dpi is not supported by default the same apps are going to be messed up all the time unless you have a rom that supports it if you are still on tpc may I suggest you try saurom?

As I understand, multi DPI ROM enables an application to be installed in other DPI settings, (IF the app itself support the current dpi settings, if not (like speed test) will show not in full screen).

[Q] Modifying System DPI (Xperia U)

Hi, I hope I'm not posting in wrong section.
Default DPI for U is 240, but somehow it's look ugly for me. So I change it tp 192 and it suit nice. But some native app like calendar / phone is looks weird. I wanna know how to change those apk to use my new dpi setting.
Also since using ICS, I had a problem with market and 192 dpi. Market won't show all the apps. Even I'm already using a dpi patched version. It was work in GB but not working in ICS.
Thanks for the respons.

You can use CM ROM or AOKP ROM for changed dpi, it's work well. For the market use lcd modder pro, it's work like a charm, even you can use built in dpi changer in AOKP that give u market access too.

Has anyone changed the DPI to reduce the size of the UI?

Much like my Thunderbolt the UI is way too big for my taste, I have a massive screen and so I want to see more.
Has anyone adjusted the DPI on their Note 2 and if so did it break anything or does anything display odd?
Also if you did and there was no issues, what DPI did you go with?
One more...does adjusting the DPI still make apps become "not compatible" ?
Thanks guys!
Yes and yes. There are small fixable minor issues. The only thing that really breaks is alarm clock. The dialer, calculator, and camera are just a little misaligned. You can search for the mod and find opinions on it... I use 240 in my build.prop then use Xposed framework to change dpi on any app the way I want.

You have to have Xposed Installer as well. Xposed App Settings is just a module, which is why it doesn't work by itself.

Suggestion on a dpi changing app?
How do you restore the dpi if it fails?

yes you need to install the xposed installer app and appropiate module. there is a thread on it. or flash jellybeans rom by beans and its included. the other option is to modify the framework res for each app. I have a thread in the theme section "240dpi apps" that has some listed already modified for 240dpi. not sure if the work on 4.1.2, but they did on 4.1.1.

The touchwiz launcher doesn't have customizable icon rows/columns. You'll have to download a different launcher. Like Nova.

now I have many, many little icons & folders.
