==== '''Q & A''' ====
Q: When will the next build come?
A: When time permits...I have a wife, five kids, full time job, and an old house that I'm remodeling...hobbies come last.
Q: Can I port your ROM?
A: No, please learn to build from source...my github link is in "Resources".
Q: Why did you remove the Emulated Internal SD card?
A: There is no dedicated internal SD card, no separate partition, and the internal sdcard does not exist on our phone...It is emulated inside the data partition. Which means that every time you save anything to the internal sdcard, the space is being taken away from data.
Now, Android and all apps see the external SD card properly. There are no problems with big apps or games. All downloads will go to the external SD card as expected. Moving apps to SD card works correctly now, because storage is not emulated.
Q: What's up with the 3.0.101+ kernel?
A: The 3.0 kernel has reached it's EOL(End Of Life) at 3.0.101, kernel.org has stopped upgrading it. So now, I have to cherry-pick commits from new branches(kernels) that apply to our kernel. Hens, the 3.0.101+...the added commits can be seen in the cm-11.0+ branch of my kernel.
==== '''Custom Recovery''' ====
Make sure that you are using the latest CWM recovery (6.0.4.3 +), if not you will get an error message stating: “set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed (Status 7)".
You can grab my CWM recovery (6.0.4.5) here: BobZ_p769_4.4.2_recovery.img MD5checksum = 880a09b28e4e40742d1fbd1cc5ff5387

Would it be possible to ditch the emulated SD? Synlinking isn't working for me for some reason, making play music unusable

I had it set up at first to just use the real sdcard(no emulated sd), but as soon as you install Gapps there would be all kinds of problems. Google is forcing FUSE on kitkat, if your not using FUSE(emulated sd) you have issues. Look back at the merges in cm11 and you can see all the devices trying to get there sd cards to work correctly.

Wow. That's gotta be frustrating.
Can anyone else see if they're able to make a successful symlink for Google music in this ROM? I get an error (see screenshot)
Also, the keyboard gets pretty unresponsive at times.
Sent from my LGMS769 using xda app-developers app
Edit: silly me, you can't synlink on fat32. I'll try a directory bind.
Edit 2. In had to symlink /data/data... to internal SD to be able to listen to music but I still can't get any working way to save it.
Audio is glitchy during some things such as locking and unlocking the device; it repeats the same fraction of a second repeatedly and gets louder before going back to normal. Almost a little frightening with headphones on. The sound overall is also waaaay too high. Might be a good idea to port the l9 settings from 10.2 with lower decibel and bln settings.
Output is also very sporadic on headphones.
This ROM feels a bit like alpha material, but I'm really glad that someone is going out of their way to build this.

Adobe flash player is no longer supported in android 4.4.
The only way you have to watch flash contents is to use a browser with flash built in such as maxthon.
Its possible to do a cm11 for p760 variant?

if you read hes whole post he says he doesnt allow porting and if you want it for your device you should make your own from source
I mean, if the developer of this ROM can port it into P760

well then i didnt say anything ;d
Guys, the dev has a ton of other things to deal with, the least of which is this ROM. He does this as a hobby. Asking him to port a ROM to a device he probably doesn't have when he hasn't even worked out all the kinks with this one is very inconsiderate I think.
Exactly. Plus the p760 has its own developer that already posted his KitKat build.

I'm having the worst time trying to dl this, mediafire is promoting me to authorize the download, but it's blank where the code should be every time I check. I see no code whatsoever.
I really hate to feel like I'm bothering anyone but if someone managed to download the ROM and if Bob gives permission could someone please post a mirror of the ROM?
Edit: Got it, they're showing up now, nevermind lol sorry

For the alternative version of the ROM(with support for camera autofocus) see the post #2 of this thread
This unofficial CM10.1 works only on E970 devices updated to 4.1.2 OTA(or manually updated TZ/RPM partitions) OR on E970 devices converted to Nexus 4
This ROM is based on mako(Nexus 4) CM 10.1 and includes support/fixes for E970 features(external SD/Cap Buttons etc).
It started as a ROM for N4 conversion but after 4.1.2 OTA update (updated TZ/RPM) the N4 conversion is not needed anymore but is still supported as promised!
The ROM now comes in one package for both N4 converted devices and for not converted devices with 4.1.2 TZ/RPM partitions: all partitions are referenced by name and not by number.
What works:
- JB 4.1.2 ATT modem is fully functional:
"call bug"(hanging up when making a voice call but still continuing with the call in the background) is fixed
"headphones bug" (no sound in voice call if headphones with no mic are plugged in) is fixed. Now headphones+phone mic can be used in voice calls.
There is still an outstanding JB 4.1.2 modem inconvenience: AT&T network is shown as Maritime.

- No modem is included in this ROM. JB ATT modem is fully functional now. Refer to this thread for modem links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270319
- The kernel included in the ROM is based on CM mako kernel + faux123 updates + my updates to support all E970 features.
- Your phone will be identified as 'Nexus 4'. This is just how I prefer it. If you want to rename it just edit build.prop
- Ignore OTA CM updates when you receive notifications.

I really want to do this now, is converting to the Nexus 4 really that big of a deal/dangerous as it's made out to be? I'm not completely new to Android modding, but not too experienced.

You can try to use boot.img from this ROM to add ext sd card support on kernel level and put /system/etc/vold.fstab from this ROM to your /system/etc. External sdcard should be automatically mounted in /storage/sdcard1 (/external_sd is a link). You would be able to browse it in file managers etc.
But Android will not "see" it, that is it will not be listed in Settings->Storage and probably apps like Gallery will not see it.
To properly integrate it into the system, framework-res.jar needs to be patched.
Yeah I think the conversion is better than custom optimus g Roms considering the development going on for the nexus 4. We have so many options now. And especially when KLP drops if it still works with the conversion there won't be a better option.
Now that we got SD card fixed all we need is our full 16gb, which I wasn't missing as much as my SD card!

no.. it is not a ROM issue but a problem of N4 conversion. I'm looking at it as well..

Dude if you figure out the storage issue... you will make a lot of people happy!
to get full internal storage its going to require manual partitioning of the block. you can get framework to recognize the external sdcard by adding this to overlay/frameworks/base/core/res/res/xml/storage_list.xml in your cm-10.1 device tree and specify the overlay folder in your BoardConfig.mk
Code:
<StorageList xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
<storage android:mountPoint="/storage/sdcard0"
android:storageDescription="@string/storage_internal"
android:primary="true"
android:emulated="true"
android:mtpReserve="100" />
<storage android:mountPoint="/storage/sdcard1"
android:storageDescription="@string/storage_sd_card"
android:primary="false"
android:removable="true"
android:allowMassStorage="true" />
</StorageList>

this ROM already has this
For those who want external SD card support in a Nexus 4 ROM of your choice, you can try to
- copy /system/etc/vold.fstab from this ROM to your /system/etc
- extract /res/xml/storage_list.xml file from /system/framework/framework-res.apk and put it in your ROM's /system/framework/framework-res.apk.
- flash boot.img from this ROM
Nice work only thing I would need now is the buttons at the bottom to work... I can do the on screen buttons
Re: [N4 Conversion][CM 10.1] Ext SD and NFC support
Yes how do we disable the capacitive buttons on this ROM. Its annoying to have them both on screen and not be able to use the physical ones at all

Re: [DEV] Ubuntu Phone - Rev 0.1
Would love to give this a try, but is it simple to revert back to previous rom?
I'm hoping it's as simple as booting into recovery and using my nandroid backup.

I've tried it and it's awesome.
Yes, it's not for daily usage....but i hope it in next update
good job man!!
first i did a backup then installed the provided files .... it doesnt boot and then i wanted to restore the backup , when i saw my internal memory was formated nothing left ....
Re: [DEV] Ubuntu Phone - Rev 0.1
Lorenzodj
Is this easily reverted back to Android roms via cwm/twrp? I know this isn't ready for daily but still wanna try it out and obviously want to make sure I can easily flash back to the current rom I am on now.
Update: gave it a shot and hoped for the best.
Not to keen on Ubuntu as I am so used to Android OS, but it does look nice and is very smooth.
I got the usual problem when booting up with the flickering N7100 splash screen, but after a few mins Ubuntu did load.
Simple to revert back to android with CWM.
I'll give this a proper test when more things are working.
Good work to the dev and keep it up my friend

sure you didnt wipe your internal sdcard instead of system in recovery? (considering how close they are and that i've done that a couple of times)

It doesnt wipe your recovery, hence you can always revert.
does it wipe internal memory? i cannot afford that! please confirm!
Odp: [DEV] Ubuntu Phone - Rev 0.1
This is pretty unusable but it is also something new. It could be awesome fully working.
It does NOT wipe internal memory. I hwve tested this myself and so have 3 others so far who havent reported the internal wipe.

If it really wipes your internal all you need to do is backup nandroid and/or titanium backup folder to your computer.

How is fluidity and battery life? Thx
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
By request, I ported this project to the hammerhead. I don't own the device so let me know how it works.
Stripped down AOKP 4.4.2 base, trying to make it as lightweight as possible. ~ 160 Mb zip
The goal is to provide an efficeint, minimal groundwork for users to customize the way they like it.
Amazing battery life.
Base install has only ten apps in the drawer! (see Screenshots section above)
- Rooted
- ROM Control
- Working ART
- Removed -
.. Google Analytics via noAnalytics Remix
.. Stock Apps (Gallery, Browser, see Changelog below for complete list)
.. Live Wallpapers
.. Bootanimations
.. Stock ringtones/alarms/notifications
.. Bloat
- Silent camera
- AOKP kernel
Other optimizations coming!
bareBones download link hosted by XDA Dev-DB (at the top of the thread)
Minimal GAPPS
Current recommendation is Paranoid Android GAPPs package.
BaNKS minimal GAPPs started causing FCs and other issues, so until that's resolved try PA.
Installation Instructions
Make sure you are on the latest CWM Recovery!
1) Nandroid Backup
2) Wipe Data & Cache/Factory Reset (if you experience issues, it's probably due to a dirty flash over an old version)
3) Flash ROM
4) Flash GAPPS (optional)
5) Reboot
6) Enjoy!
Feel free to buy me a coconut water (donate) you find my ROM useful. It would be greatly appreciated!

Only one ringtone, one notification sound, and one alarm.
The ROM is meant to be stripped down so you can make everything look (and sound) like you want it to, with your own MP3s or whatever.
Loving the ROM, but I'm not sure if it's something to do with it, but I can't use the Google Now Launcher, the one that comes with stock Nexus 5 ROM. I can install it and everything but every time I try to open it, it says that I need an update to Google Search, which is the latest version possible. I've installed about 3-4 other ROMs to test this out and this is the only one I can't use it on.
I'll try this ROM later, looks to be what i'm looking for though as I put all the featrures i want on through xposed so looking for something lightweight. Is this ROM fast? And can I install through TWRP? It only says something about ClockworkMod in the op? Can't wait to try this.
Well, let's try!
Nice to see you here, i was follow this rom in the nexus 4 thread, juts a little petition, could you add an option to make notifications always expanded? thanks in advance, nice rom
Tested: aokp_hammerhead_kitkat_unofficial_2014-03-17.zip
Setup wizard crashes constantly
AOSP keyboard crashes.
Unusable as is if you flash gapps from Banks
So do I need to flash Gapps? Or there is play store already included?

Please read OP again.
I dont know how (since im a regular flash a holic) but I messed up something.
Recovery wouldn't mount the sdcard/data directory and couldn't get my previous nandroid. It eventually mounted though. Just wondering where i messed up. I suspect a bad download....
Is there any pie control or immersive mode in this?At least, for me ,pie is really useful for daily use, would you concern about adding it?
Nice work Dev, will give it a shot.
Doesn't boot for me with Multirom.

NOTE
Starting with the 4.5.30 builds Gapps installation is no longer needed
These builds also have some tweaks/fixes not just multilanguage and some of them are just experimental.Bellow are a few of them:
Fix for the "green line" issue when playing recorded video (thx @nomaj)
Replaced stock Camera app with the one from our device Stock Firmware (this means that after you install the Gapps HDR+ will be available and also the camera will update itself from PlayStore)
Enabled the Led menu in Settings
Enabled the "Wake with Volume Buttons " option
Enabled the "Microphone Noise suppression" option
Changed the default build.prop locale to en/US
Tweaked the Theme app to force the selected locale instead of chinese (doesn't seem to work with all languages)
For those looking for more answers there is also a thread in the General forum, remember to check there, it's a nice thread with educated folks,i'm sure you will get some help.
BUGS
*** a green line apears on video recordings (fixed on the multilanguage build)
*** call recording does't work and it will throw a "registration device is in use" error --> should be fixed on Multilanguage build starting from v 4.5.23
don't have the logcat for this anymore but i remember that it was a "bad input" error from MIUI recorder
*** Taking a picture with the Flash ON will result in a "flashbang" effect on the picture --> should be fixed on Multilanguage build starting from v 4.5.23
This seems to be a kernel related issue because using a custom kernel will fix the issue
*** ThemeManager always switch back to Cinese even if the user is using a different language
This one is a tough one and it's a random issue, some users on MIUI forum says that it's on the server side so this means that only Xiaomi can fix it for good --> should be fixed on Multilanguage build starting from v 4.5.30
*** No haptic feedback even if the " Vibrate on touch" option it's enabled. ( this doesn't affect keyboard vibration)
Thank you for this sir!

This rom is great. Reminds me of my Nexus 4 that broke. Loved that phone. I've used cm roms for ages on this phone and never used any of the fancy features in them so this rom is perfect for me.
Any thing new here? Any updates ( 4.4.4) or some bugfix?
Love this Rom except the camera problem
