The 10 posts rule isn't dumb, it actually makes sense. and if you follow the links for new users, it gives you a very good hint on how to speed up the process in getting those 10 posts
it might be in the ROM code, or doing a google search might give you an answer
It is not dumb.
Anyway, to keep wifi on, you should go to settings -> wifi -> tap menu key -> advanced -> wifi suspend policy. Set to always on. By default, in my case was set to alwats on when connected to charger

Good. For future reference, "thanks" posts are discouraged, use the "thanks" button to show gratitude!

Easily accomplished with an app in the Market called Tasker. It's over $6 but worth it to me. There's also Locale, SettingProfiles, etc but Tasker seems more feature-rich and more actively dev'ed.
When I was not rooted I was getting great battery life using Juice Defender, spend the little bit of money to get the Pro version. It will come on at a time you select to search for gmail or MMS as soon as 15m or every hour, it also has a night sch where it never lets the internet connect. You can also block apps from reaching the internet which I did often on App that wanted full internet access (yea right), it will also turn off WiFi after screen off if you select that as well. It has a ton of options and like I said was getting great battery life while lettting it manage my phone. It will also reconnect to the internet as soon as you screen on. So there you go Auto everything.

Your phone can do that by default if you go to wireless settings → press menu button → advanced settings → disable wifi on sleep.

If your connected to WiFi it will use less power than 3g or 4g, its when your not connected and its searching for a connection that it eats up battery. I toggle WiFi on as soon as I'm home or around WiFi and off as soon as I leave.
Thanks guys fir the info I will try that

Is anyone else having this issue? Every time I wake the phone from sleep I see the wifi with no bars, then a second later it is full again. I found a thread where One X users were reporting the same issue. I have it set to always on and even have checked the increase wifi performance check box as well.
Also, sometimes using the bookmark widget the phone won't load a webpage despite showing a strong wifi connection, I have to turn wifi on and off to correct this
Must be an ICS thing because my Touchpad does the same thing.
On a side note, my iPhone does the same thing too.
in your wifi settings hit menu and click advanced. there is a setting to set the wifi not to turn off during sleep.

I said in my original post I had that set already to always... the mneu says "Keep wifi on during sleep" I have it set to always
Seems to be a known issue if the phone goes to sleep for an extended period of time wifi will disconnect regardless of the wifi setings. We will have to wait for htc or rom dev's to fix the issue.
If you get the Power Saver Settings app (free) from the market, you can access hidden power options in ICS. Two of which are "Manage my connection when screen is off" (which may or may not apply only to network data) and "Turn off Wi-Fi if not connected." Perhaps try those settings.
My WIFI was shutting off and it is sometimes a bit bumpy reactivating it every time I wake it.
So I tried setting that setting to Keep WIFI on always while asleep.
WIFI is MUCH more stable now when waking the phone.
However, it seems to be using up battery much more quickly too.

i'm having the same wifi issue with my evo lte. I even changed these settings you mentioned and the same thing has been happening for a couple days. guess we'll have to wait on htc or devs for a fix.
i changed the ghz or whatever on my fone and it seems to not die out anymore after an hour of sleep
i have the same problem which prevents me from getting email and some other notifications on time. hope htc can fix this.
Same thing happened on ICS leak for 3D. Mikey finally fixed the issue in MeanRom.

i was going to create a new thread... but found a 9 month old thread I previously started... I'm having the same wifi issues still.... since the recent update it has gotten worse. Often times at home I'llw ake the phone from sleep only to see the wifi is not connected.... so I am missing notifications/emails while it is sleeping.
I don't notice this problem occurring at work, so I'm guessing it may just be an issue this phone has with my router (Linksys WRT54GL)... but I'm not even sure what router settings I should change.

I noticed before the update that mine would do this after midnight, then after the update I stayed connected. However it's back to disconnecting after midnight again. I cannot figure out why.

Sounds like 1) ur power saver is on or 2) smart sync - occurs midnight to 6? I forget but it happens during night time.

Disable smart snyc via custom rom or freeze or remove the app. Here's a quick read
http://www.androidpolice.com/tags/fix-smartsync/
If you do a google search you'll find much more on the software/app

Question:
This is regarding wifi issues. My wifi connection and speed used to be solid on the note 3 before updating to the MJ4 (I believe that's the latest..), ever since my connection is weak (though I know my wifi at home is working perfectly fine since I use 2 iPhones and a Nexus 7 tab with no issues at all), I get the "poor connection" message, and also slow speeds (keeps buffering when watching YouTube or Netflix videos), many times will take forever to even load my YouTube app... Thing that's funny, is that when I run a speed test, it shows full wifi speed!
I've read around here someone having similar problems, so my question is, does anyone know of a fix for this? I'm not a noob when it comes to android either..
Btw, I'm fully stock. No mods, root, nothing, and only running a few apps.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

So you are using an app? Have you tested with power save off? Or set it to never power save in smart manager>battery?

it worked thanks :good:
My cloud vpn doesn't work when set to never power save only in smart manager but works when power saving is off completely on my phone. Is there anyway I could use the vpn with power saving on? Ive tried to have power saving on but never power save on this app in smart manager but it doesn't work.

You might find that the Dev needs to update the app for 6.0 to get around the issue?
Hey guys,
I'm from India and I have an Mi 11x Pro running the latest stock global stable rom (13.0.3). I'm facing an issue where my wifi automatically turns off at night and I'm losing money because I freelance and I'm missing out on work emails. My phone automatically turns off the wifi connection from 2 to 3 a.m. to around 5 or 6 a.m.
I googled before posting here and I found a few recommendations on the internet and on reddit, but none of those recommended things exist in my phone. There is no "Scenarios" in the battery section. There is no "Enable/disable wifi automatically" in the Wifi Assistant section.
Please tell me how to disable this behavior, else I'm throwing this stupid phone away and never buying an Mi/Xiaomi phone again. This is preposterous. I've already lost hundreds of dollars worth of work, which is more than what I paid for this stupid phone.
I am finally turning to the good people of XDA to help me solve this.
Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for the rant.
Check your router settings. My router under Advanced-Wireless Settings, has an option to "Turn off wireless signal by schedule" with a start and end time to disable all wireless. Just a thought, but may be worth a look.

It's not a router thing. It's a thing that MIUI does where it turns your phone's wifi off at night. As soon as you unlock the phone, the wifi icon comes up and it connects to the network and there come all the email and whatsapp notifications. There is an option to disable this behavior in the EU version of the rom but not in the Global Stable version. Morons just outright removed the option to disable it while still keeping the behavior active.
I found this...
[MEGA-GUIDE] TWEAKS and DE-BLOAT for NON-ROOTED ROMS.

And I think the first option should help with my problem. I'll check it out and see if it helps. Will post here of my findings.
