I would like to delete Google+ app from my rooted Atrix HD phone. I could not find it in either /system/app or /system/vendor/app. Where should I look?
You can use titanium backup to remove it

[ Can Soft Brick ] Method 1:--
Install any root explorer like ES File Manager ..
Open it..
Go to root...
-->System -->App --> Select G+ apk and delete it...
reboot ...
it over !!
NOTE:- Mount System to read / write ..
[Comparitively SAFE ] Method 2 :-

Thanks the RootAppDelete tip. It is a nice little program. Disabled lots of apps to try out. If all is well, I will uninstall them. It found most of what I want to remove and showed me the apk files. I could not find Google+ because they renamed the file something else like plusone.apk. I still cannot find the program for Lattitude.
I have some reservations about using Titanium backup. Installed the free version and it backedup OK. But since then it would hang regularly whenever I tried to use it to delete apps. So I stopped using it.

So I got got root, after having a long and hard decision, because I soft-bricked my phone yesterday.
Anyway, I got titanium because no other apps were free on Market like Root Manager or Root Explorer.
When I go to Backup/Restore I get a list, but they're not apps, they're stuff like:
Accounts
Application Widgets
Bluetooth Pairings
Country, Language, Time zone
Wi-Fi Access Points
but I want to delete the Avatar, TeleNav, and others.
PS, I've tried searching, didn't help me, so please don't tell me to "SEARCH". OH and I also read the sticky, didn't help x]
Any help is gladly appreciated
Does anybody know how? Please?
I prefer File Manager, it's free and pretty easy to use and delete all the Bloatware. Download it, open it and navigate to My Phone>system>app and look for the apk you want removed.
Is it ASTRO file manager, eFile - File Manager, or just plain "File Manager"?
Oh and what is .odex and .apk? Should I delete both?

.odex is the file before deodexing.
.apk is the output once deodexed.
Yes, delete both.. But I would recommended titanium to uninstall. And there is a link in the sticky that tells you all of the .apks & .odex files you can remove...
Plain File Manager.
Here's a list of safe programs you can remove.
First off all the Standard Apps:
AccountAndSync.apk/odex -> The app in the drawer, not the settings.
AddToHome.apk/odex
AudioPostcard.apk/odex
Avatar.apk/odex -> The app that launches Avatar in the video player.
BuddiesNow.apk/odex
Dlna.apk/odex [Allshare]
FlashPlugin.apk/odex
GoGo.apk/odex
Infoalarm.apk/odex [Daily Briefing]
KindleStub.apk/odex
Layer-samsung.apk/odex
MediaHub.apk/odex
Memo.apk/odex
Mini Diary.apk/odex
MobiTV.apk/odex
MyAccountStub_4-5-10.apk/odex
Myfiles.apk/odex
Sims3_Samsung_Embed_Launcher.apk/odex
slackerradio.apk/odex
Swype-Tips.apk/odex
Telenav.apk/odex
thinkdroid.apk/odex [ThinkFree Office]
vvm-signed.apk/odex -> T-Mobile Visual Voicemail [can be re-downloaded from the market. for some reason that version is the preferred one.]
VoiceRecorder.apk/odex
VoceDialer.apk/odex
Writeandgo.apk/odex
TouchwizWidgets:
Day.apk/odex
DualClock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Calenderclock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Feedandupdate.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_stockclock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Weatherclock.apk/odex

Open SU and see if you accidentally denied it. If so click it if not then reboot your phone and open Ti again. That should prompt SU.

Hi
I used Sgs tools to do a camera hack and now my camera is screwed always force closes...
I have my old cmeras apk but I can't install it wouldn't let me.
Do I have to uninstall the order camera so I can install this?
And how?

If you can mount your sd card to your computer, then go to /system/app these are your system file apps. You can manually put the .apk file in there, but then you have to use something like Androzip to actually install (just finding it in /system/app and clicking on it will install it, or use the default Files app.)
Duddeee! Thanks in did what you said but with root explorer and now everhthings fine. I thanks man!

hey,
that method leads to FC's and installing the apk leads to app not being installed.

Thanks for the link. How the heck do I get it to work without the constant force closes?
make sure it's named vendor.apk and change permissions to fit the other system apps.

Good news, I updated to CM nightly 168 and the FC problem stopped for now.

If you having problems installing the swype apk... you can use Ti backup to uninstall swype, then reboot (important). install swype directly through "files" app or "my files". Worked for me!!
you guys realize that swype updates itself through the settings>input>swype settings> ..
right??? I guess its after the last update mines been updating
Any themes around?

So can you guys help me?

Sounds like Chrome does not want to be installed as a system app then Is there some benefit to having an app installed as a system app? Or why do you want to have it installed as a system app?

OK I don't know how things work on phones outside of the HD2, but can't you just push the .apk to /system/app with a root explorer, fix permissions in CWM and reboot?
Try to use ADB to move it and remember to set permissions
You need to extract libchromeview.so from the Chrome APK (found at: com.android.chrome-1.apk/lib/armeabi-v7a/libchromeview.so) and move it to system/lib. Optionally, you can remove libchromeview.so from the Chrome APK and zipalign if you want to save a couple of MBs of space.
This worked for me on v. 0.18.4531.3636. I attempted this some time ago on an older version unsuccessfully. If you have an older version for some reason, you'll probably need to update.
Latest titanium backup update said something about fixing conversion in what's new

If I'm not mistaken system apps load first on boot and are often quicker at starting up than user apps. That's been my experience anyways. However a lot of em are more hassle to convert than the slight increase in speed is worth imho

Thank you. Yes, I think that application is a system app. I think also root is possible ( i'll try motochopper for mtk6589 devices) but I don't know how to locate the chinese app and what's the app name. Do you have an idea for me?
Ok, my phone is rooted. Ther's some apk that allows download of others chinese app. But I don't know what it is.
Any idea?

With some file explorer ( I recommend ES file explorer - you can get it off Google Play or as a apk file if you don't have Play Store installed, it's a free app) go to /system/app and there you will find all the stock apps. Delete the ones you don't need, but be careful not to delete something your phone needs such as SystemUI or something like that. Also you might have to mount /system first. Do that by clicking root explorer in ES and then when it shows up a pop up window make sure that the dot is set on rw for the /system . Otherwise you won't be able to delete anything.

Very thanks. I'll try this.
I saw that some apps have the suffix [3738] (for example GoogleService [3738].Apk). I do not think they're stock apps. I will try to remove these first.
Thanks again
