hi guys
i have "Roehsoft Ram Expander" on my Galaxy Ace s5830i. I have made 1 gb of ext2 partition from CWM.
But when i launch Roehsoft, i check the box "swap active" .it makes swap file correctly but when it finished, it says that "please wait while swap file killing" and i see that there is not a swap file created. So i cannot have swap file.
My Kernel is Rafael Baugis Kernel 2.6.35.7 [email protected]#1
Also i have stock rom. (because of ram problems i go back again to stock rom, i used to use rom "simplicity v5.2")
What should i do? Do i have to change my kernel or do i have to use rom Simplicity 5.2 ?
I recommend you to follow the guide by Lopicl.00 in General Section instead of doing this
It may not be this much easier, but it definitely works well

2.) Copy the ZIP file to the root of your SD-card
3.) Turn off your phone
4.) Switch ON your device in the recovery Mode (hold power, volume up, home button together)

Waiting for Optimized ROMS. Yes I agree the phone has a lot of capability!
should I really make it?
cause I found one rom while searching one net
yodeput created a custom ROM based on the S5360XXKI6 stock ROM that has the following changes / features:
Modifications:
DT Apps2SD pre-installed.
Rooted
init.d subsystem.
Re-odexed (optional) and zipaligned for speed and save space in /data.
Added busybox and sqlite3.
Updated/added AdwEx, Quickboot, Root Explorer, Titanium, Spareparts
Removed unwanted apps (Swype,....)
Notes:
Before flash this ROM, your sdcard must be partitioned (FAT & ext2)
Flash with ODIN
don't forget HardReset after that

hey i tried ur custom rom and i think it aint working. after flashing fon ends up @ bootloop and stucks @ samsung logo.

Hi all.
I'm thinking to convert my file system from rfs to ext4. For that I downloaded the conversion app from the cf-root thread, but I'm not sure that this is safe enough to go.
I have ~20 MB free space on system, I have cwm 5 installed, and I'm on 2.3.6 XKT7. (I would like to have ext4 system, to flash turboboost and lagfree.) Could you tell me something? Is it 100% safe, doesen't it harm the phone? Naturally I made a backup with Titanium Backup, and with cwm, but it would be better just to have nothing changed, only the file system...
I did it about 2 month ago. Everything work great, I don't have any problems. Don't wait, just do it
since i didnt see you have written CF-root kernel is installed on your phone first i have to remind you that CF-root ext4 tool won't work without it!
and second (just a little correction); you do not need to have your file system as ext4 in order to use turboboost and lagfeee... they are scripts to make some changes in the way your phone decides what to do when it comes to manage things in its functioning system like ram management.. on the other hand, ext4 tool is an apk to easily change your memories' formats to ext4 from rfs..
but still i would recommend you to make an ext 4 convertion, it makes difference.. and also using ONE of those scripts..

So I just don't understand this. In the lagfree thread, it says, that the system has to be in ext4 format, to make the tool work.
And in the other hand, I read, that turboboost and lagfree together are the best way, to make the Ace a true ace.
So than... I'm as confused as I can be.

Nobody out there to help a bit...?
i have installed this amazing rom and currently enjoying it .......
i want to ask the following questions????
1. Can we install and successfully use the GADGETCHECK ,SLAID LAGFREE nd lagloose gps fix???
- i have installed lagfree v2 by simply flshing through CWM,, but the sd card speed increase app shows the status as 128kb still...
- how to check whether the gadetcheck script is running successfully??? i flashed by CWM
2. i wanted to use stock samsung keyboard so i reffered to this post of xda --
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433071
i tried the flashable zip by flshing in CWM and rebooting it didn't worked...next i used the root explorer method of manually putting by setting permission to r/w and rebooted......
but none changed ......the input method remained the same android keyboard....
THANKS in advance for ur help...
yes u can use scripts
and if u managed to flash them it means they work
but whats with the lagfreee.... the sd speed boost shown is still 128 kb..but
ehn i used the same script on INFINITY ROm it showed 4096 kb......
reflash may solve your problem or try any other script and see your mount speed

Saw the threads and i think i need some more light on doing this.
I realize that i need gparted thingy and do some modifications to the recovery and also the custom rom itself.
I basically just wanted to increase the /system folder size of my CM9 probably to 512mb or more,
I've read that i need to apply streak5sd8 layout to the innerSD, but my question is how?
Got any links on step-by-step method on customizing my custom rom, recovery, and partition?
Thanks
I'm using s5282. Build is XXANF3.
I am using stock rom. I have root and busibox installed.
My default kernel doesn't support swap so I tried some of custom kernel given here which say it support swap.
Kernel I tried-
1) basic kernel by corphish - after flashing it I can see the basic kernel logo but I can't enable swap
2) zapdos v5 by corphish - again I can see the zapdos logo and but no swap support
3) a kernel by aakarsh99- but with no success.
For swapping I am using simple root swap. I granted it root access then I created a swap file of 200 mb. I can see the file in sd card. Then I checked auto start and finally hit the ON button. But in info it shows all values 0. I also tried rebooting but no success.
I am using cwm 6.0.5.1 for flashing files.
What I am doing wrong?
