did you close the application or just pressing your home button and re-opening the apps ?
in some case, the apps will read your action pressing home button like the exit button, so the apps just killing itself

Did u press the hm button or the back button? If home button, when u switch over to it, it shld resume instead of restarting the app. However if u press back button, when u switch over to the app. It will be new instead of resuming. Rmb if u wan multi task, press hm button. And when u wan to return back to the app. Hold the hm button and find the app and press it. Dun open it thru the apps place.

[Q] Home button tweaks?

Is it possible to change the way the home button acts? I dislike the way when you hit the home button it puts the current app into a background process. Could we change it so like an iPhone the home button fully closes an app when pressed?

Excuse me, but I believe the iPhone puts the process to background too.
Right now im using the cynogenmod 7 KANG's version, when you go to the USB settings there is a option to fully close an app by holding the back button. You can also customize the home/menu button using that rom.

Home Button or Back Button?

What does everyone use when exiting apps, home button or back button?
It's my understanding that pressing the home button leaves the app running in the background so more battery would be used?

Back button to close app indeed.

I use back buton as home buton is waaaaaaaay too laggy.

Depends! If I want to check another app quickly then return I use home (multitasking). If I don't want to use again I always press the back button to kill the process.

Since they have different functionality, your question doesn't really make sense. You use both, depending on what you want to do.
Also, the back button doesn't kill the process, afaik there are cases when the application could remain still running.

Yep, messaging and the stock browser...there are others too...
I just stopped trying to close apps one way or the other. I just "do what i want" (e.g. surf to a website, check an app) and then leave the phone without exiting any apps. After some time I'll check the same site/service anyway, and if I want to do something else it's still just a few presses away.

[Q]kill app

Hi...it possible kill the app with long pressure on back-softkey like the nexus s?
It's very useful...
Thanks in advance..
Long press home brings up task manager...
not actually sure if it does, I think so... anything I want to kill i use task manager..
Exiting an app by using the back key closes it anyway. Closing it via the home button leaves it open.

OK..but I've to open the task manager..in the nexus just hold back soft key for 1sec and the app was kill..
So i didn't need to open the task manager..

You can clear recent app on a phone with button by long pressing the home and swipe on an app; with a phone with software button like Galaxy nexus you can use the multitasking button and swipe the app you want to close.http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

hold home button to open recent apps mod?

hi, is there any mod that can make by holding hoke button to open recent apps?
i changed the desire x recent apps button to press for menu, press and hold for recent apps in settings cause i like it this way.
and i hate it how i have to hold the recent apps button to open recent apps. i think it is more convenient if hold home button to recent apps instead of holding recent apps button to open recent apps.
or make it like the htc one. double tap home button to recent apps.
is there any solutions?

Why not try the reverse of what you have press for recent apps and press & hold for menu I find it really convenient to do this you just
Goto settings>display and buttons>recent apps button and switch it up there...
One tap for recent apps which is obvious for the button press and hold for menu works flawlessly....
P. S. I know your not a noob in this unlike me

I too installed the app. There's no option for holding. Holding menu key on my Note 2 would bring up search. I want to remap it to Recents.
