Does the red development text on the splash screen bother you after unlocking your device?
If so, I have a modified hboot for you that takes care of it.
This was simply hex edited by me to remove the text from the screen, no other changes were made.
I have tested it and it is 100% proven to work without any side effects.
I originally did this for the Verizon HTC One and was asked to do it for the One Max and now the Butterfly S.

Ok, Now you have your hboot, proceed:
Place the zip in your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
Enter the following commands from terminal/command prompt in the fastboot directory, one at a time:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this puts the device in RUU mode)
fastboot flash zip filename_hboot.zip (this flashes the modified hboot zip file)
Important: the flash process halts at around 75% to 90% on phone screen! This is normal and a safety precaution!
The last few percent is the reboot, which is NOT happening automatically, so you get a chance to check the console output before reboot to make sure it is safe to reboot!
The bar will only fill up to 100% once you type the following command:
fastboot reboot-bootloader (this reboots the device to bootloader)
That's it, you're done. You can now reboot and not see the red text anymore.
If you have any questions or issues, let me know.
I DO NOT have this device!
BIG THANKS to Scotty123 for requesting me to do this for you guys and Jiggity Janx for being willing to test for me.
So Thank them too!
Now for my RED TEXT:
DisclaimerYou are aware that writing to the security protected partitions increases your risk to lose the device exponentially.
You understand and agree that i cannot be held responsible for such or any other damages.
The flash process is theoretically safe and tested, however you are the brains behind the wheel and you are solely responsible for the execution of the process.
I will not accept any responsibility. The method itself is developed by Google and HTC, i only provide access and information to it and you execute it.
You understand that you should not do it if you are not willing to accept this risk.
If you plan on reverting to stock-relocked, for any reason:
You should follow the above steps first, but use this Stock Restore hboot instead.
Do this before you relock the bootloader.

Stock 1.11.605.4 hboot
Sprint:
Stock 2.09.605.1 hboot
International:
Stock 2.61.1540.1 hboot
-FAUX LOCKED HBOOTS-
(not really Locked and S-on but appear that way)
Since I initially posted this for the Vzw One(m7):
I had a couple requests for a modified hboot that shows the device as being Locked and S-On, while being completely unlocked and S-Off.
I went ahead and made that as per request and made it for the One (m8), Dna, One Max(t6) and Butterfly S as well.
The process is the same as the one I wrote above, with the exception of the filename.
Which you can change to hboot.img for simplicty just don't forget which is which.

now that you have s-off,hboot can be hex edited to not display the red "this build is for development etc etc" warning when booting or entering recovery.
i personally am not a fan of modifying/messing with the bootloader too much, but i have someone willing to do to the edits who knows how to do them safely.
i dont have this device on any carrier,so im not familiar with current hboot version and build numbers.
we basically just need the following for each variant(sprint, vzw,GSM t6ul):
-a copy of hboot
-your cid
-your mid
-product id(aka t6ul or t6wlv)
if hboot is not available from an ruu or OTA packack you can dump it with:
adb shell
su (if you need to to get a #)
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p12
upload the hboot image and post/pm a link along with the other info

Sorry guys, been caught up with some other projects, loss of work, and the holidays.
Will get the ones I've got that have been sent to me done and posted up in the next couple of days.
Again, sorry for the delay.
I believe I've got one for the GSM and the Sprint model yet to work up and post.
Any other devices or models that want one, I need your hboot and android-info.

The instructions for both of your questions were provided right above by me.
There is zero functionality gained from this. Please do not try this ( or any other mod for that matter ) if you do not understand what you are doing.

If you followed the easy install guide then you want to follow this this post
Please see THIS THREAD before doing this procedure, you might be able to avoid using the HTC unlock.
WARNING: This procedure applies to flyers (not View) only and should be used only if you get the following message when trying to downgrade:
"Main Version is older! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot"
If you upgraded to HoneyComb using the Official OTA perform these steps, otherwise skip to section "Downgrade" below
Perform a HTC unlock using the HTC unlock website
Download this recovery download MD5: bb366b025dcc454ffe8b21b8bf0c72d0
Download superuser from here
Copy the su zip file to the root of your external SD card.
Boot the flyer to fastboot mode
Flash recover
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot to recovery and install the su zip file.
Reboot to android
Proceed with the downgradre procedure below.
Downgrade
First download the RUU for your device from this thread.
If there is no RUU for your region/operator, download one of the unbranded ones and create a goldcard
If you don't know which RUU to use see post #2.
Download misc_version_universal.zip and extract the misc_version file from it.
If you don't have adb and fastboot on your PC
Get fastboot and adb tool for windows here
Get Fastboot and adb for linux here
check the version number for your RUU
In my example I am using this RUU: RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_2.00.405.3_R_Radio_20.3501.30.08 9BU_3809.05.04.10_M_release_194964_signed.exe
The version is the part highlighted in red.
Boot your flyer up to android if it's not already on, with usb debugging enabled and connect it to the PC.
Run the following command:
Code:
adb push misc_version /data/local/misc_version
Run the following commands:
Code:
adb shell
$ su (make sure your screen is unlocked so you see a toaster notification if it appears)
# chmod 777 /data/local/misc_version
# /data/local/misc_version -s [COLOR="Red"]2.00.405.3[/COLOR]
Note that the number in RED is the version number retrieved in step 4.
You will see a message about backing up and writing misc partition
Reboot to fastboot:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
[*]Relock the bootloader:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Run your RUU
If you have correctly completed the process you will no longer get the "Main Version is older! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot" message and you will be able to downgrade to GingerBread.
Note: By choosing an appropriate value for the version it is also possible to return to a specific operator ROM if you have previously upgraded with a goldcard and you have a suitable original RUU. If using the procedure for a downgrade within gingerbread you must first root the flyer and skip step 8. For example you can downgrade from a WWE RUU to an O2 RUU.
Special Thanks
Alastor_ru for testing this procedure for me.
Grkdotnot and RMarkland for testing the procedures for BestBuy Flyers

To identify which RUU to use
Boot the phone to fastboot mode
Run the following command:
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
This will return the CID of your device. Find the appropriate RUU from this list:
The Xs that appear indicate that these numbers are not important for RUU selection, only the numbers which are not Xs are important.

Download the following file: unruu MD5=b8708edcce49b195e2d6d595ded77c40
Navigate to where you downloaded the file and run the following commands:
Code:
sudo cp unruu /usr/bin

sudo chmod 755 /usr/bin/unruu
Download the appropriate RUU for your device.
Extract the rom.zip from the RUU by running the following command
Code:
unruu -k <ruu file name>
For example:
Code:
unruu -k RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_Wifi_1.36.1114.32_Radio_20.3501.30.089BU_3809.05.04.10_M_release_191235_signed.exe
Run the RUU as follows:
Code:
sudo adb reboot bootloader
sudo fastboot oem lock
sudo fastboot erase cache
sudo fastboot oem rebootRUU
sudo fastboot flash zip rom.zip
For mac Users
Unfortunately I don't currently have a build environment on which to build the unruu command, however Mac are a small use case so I have provided the most common RUUs as zip file downloads:
RUU_Flyer_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.36.1540.32_R_Radio_20.3501.30.089BU_3809.05.04.10_M_release_191425_signed.zip

RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_1.36.405.3.zip
RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_2.23.405.3.zip
Run the RUU as follows:
Code:
sudo adb reboot bootloader
sudo fastboot oem lock
sudo fastboot erase cache
sudo fastboot oem rebootRUU
sudo fastboot flash zip <rom file name.zip>
If the RUU you need is not in this list, please request it or boot to windows/linux and extract the rom.zip
Look forward to it, I have been trying to set aside time to troubleshoot and downgrade my tablet, just not found it yet. Your method should make it a lot easier!
This would be great - I am holding off upgrading to Honeycomb in case I can't revert back to Gingerbread, or in case the leaked version will cause an issue with a future leak or final release of HC!

Can I get a volunteer who has:
A US WIFI Flyer
Has upgraded to HC
Wants to go back to GB but is stuck
Doesn't mind if the HC version is the WWE one ( eg. wants revolutionary S-OFF on GB)
Well I could upgrade to HC and try the downgrade method, but do you mind helping me getting HC?
yeah, ok.
Sorry, just saw your PM now.

Did you get a volunteer? If not I can do it.
@globatron, do you need a volunteer with 3G Flyer? I have stuck in HC, the old method is not working for me
Will be testing this evening once I have my IRC channel ready, forum latency is too high; this will be from about 7pm to 11:45pm BST which would be 1pm to 6:45pm Eastern.
General release to follow after that. First couple of people on get to be the guinea-pigs.
Alastor_ru I'll let you have the first run-through of the automated version for the 3G Flyer by anyone other than myself.

I checked in with GlobaTron this evening on IRC. They are still working through some issues, I'm sure he will update us when there is something new.
appreciated help from globatron, i have sucessfully revert my flyer back to GB by using goldcard method.
Do take note on the goldcard part, dont use paste function, cause it will copy mmc1 value, what we need is mmc2 value.
again salute to globatron, for helping alot of folks. THANKS!
Im in... have a best buy flyer 16GB wifi upgraded to flyhoney.
There is something odd about goldcards on the US flyer.
Can someone with a best buy flyer give me a copy of partition 28:
you can do that from "adb shell"
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p28 of=/sdcard/part28.img
And upload the file "part28.img" from their sd card somewhere for me to collect. There is nothing unique to your device in that partition, but if you are concerned about privacy, pm me the link and once I have it I'll let you know and you can take it down again.
Dear Friends,

How should I install abd and fastboot from your thread . as I click on the application a dos window appears and closes , nothing happens. also tell me from where should i check my gingerbread ruu ? i have android 3.2.1 installed in my htc flyer. thats all i know
your looking for a crash course in allot.
ADB and fstboot are not applications. They contain commands that you can use through a comand terminal. Take the files (adb and fastboot) and place them in a folder named adb. Then place that directly on your c drive. now click start on windows then run. type cmd then hit enter. a black terminal should open type
cd \adb
then enter should change to your adb folder. connect your flyer through usb. type in the command prompt
adb devices
then hit enter. should list your flyer
If you can do this you can move forward. If not, no luck
My htc flyer is currently showing an android version 3.2.2 and software number is showing 3.55.405.1 . What I want to ask is that which ruu should I download from the link you gave me if I want to downgrade my htc flyer to 2.3.3 gingerbread . and also the link you gave is not making any downloads because the slots are not empty . is there any other site from where i can download ruu manually for downgrading to 2.3.3 gingerbread ? what should I type in google ? plus i keep getting 2.3.3 for htc desire etc but not htc flyer , can i use the same htc desire 2.3.3 ruu to downgrade my htc flyer ?
thanks
I tried to help you, I did not write what I did because it was an exercise in futility. If you want to know which RUU is you
1.Boot the phone to fastboot mode
2.Run the following command:
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
This will return the CID of your device. Find the appropriate RUU from this list:
The Xs that appear indicate that these numbers are not important for RUU selection, only the numbers which are not Xs are important.

your looking for a crash course in allot.

This thread is a placeholder for all possible firmwares we can get from HTC OTA's.
Your CID number must be exactly the same. If it's written "HTC__001" it means you can't flash it, if your CID is "02__001". The whole text must match!
Please READ this small F.A.Q. before continuing!
What is firmware.zip?
Firmware.zip is a part of each OTA update from HTC. It contains important part of the firmware like radio, bootloader, recovery, kernel etc..
Why it's important to flash firmware.zip and when should I flash it?
It is recommended to have flashed latest firmware on your device for best modem performance and system stability. Sometimes it's necessary to have latest bootloader flashed because otherwise your device might not work well with new system update.
Does firmware.zip contains radio?
Yes, it does contain radio, and for S-ON devices the only method to update radio is to flash latest firmware.zip
Why it's important to flash it before flashing custom ROM?
Because firmware.zip contains boot.img (ramdisk and kernel) that will replace custom boot.img from any custom ROM you have. That's why you have to flash firmware.zip first, because otherwise boot.img will be overwritten with stock one.
If you already flashed firmware.zip after flashing custom ROM, just flash this particular custom ROM again.
Does firmware.zip contains recovery?
Yes, it does contain recovery image, that's why after flashing firmware.zip you will have to flash custom recovery again, to be able to flash custom ROM afterwards.
Can I flash this firmware.zip on any HTC One?
Not if your device is S-ON. To be able to flash it on S-ON device, your modelid (example: PN0710000) and cidnum (example: HTC__001) must match the firmware.zip version you are about to flash.
If my modelid or cidnum doesn't match, can I brick my device if I try to flash firmware.zip anyway?
As long as your device is S-ON flashing firmware.zip with non matching modelid or cidnum will result in error and nothing will be flashed, so there is no risk of brick.
Do I need to have locked, unlocked or relocked bootloader to be able to flash firmware.zip?
Your bootloader needs to be relocked.
If I can't flash newest firmware.zip because of wrong modeid (MID) or cidnum (CID) does it mean I can't use custom ROM based on the latest HTC update?
In most cases you should be able to run any custom ROM as long as hboot update is not mandatory.
What if there is no firmware.zip for my MID/CID?
Try to find latest OTA update for your original stock ROM and send it to me. I will post firmware.zip here.

cidnum: HTC__203
cidnum: HTC__A07
cidnum: HTC__016
How to flash?
(bootloader needs to be relocked)
Re-lock your bootloader (this will most probably wipe content of your device)
Copy downloaded .zip to fastboot.exe location (e.g. c:/SDK/platform-tools/fastboot.exe)
Re-name .zip file to firmware.zip
Open command prompt
Boot your device in fastboot mode (vol down + power ===> fastboot)
Connect device to the PC
In command prompt cd to fastboot.exe location
Make sure you have correct modeid and cidnum (type: fastboot getvar all)
Type: fastboot oem lock (if your device is not relocked yet)
Type: fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait for device to reboot
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Sometimes flashing for the first time doesn't work, so flash firmware.zip again just to make sure.
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Type: fastboot reboot
Unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery if you are going to use custom ROM.

CID
Hallo mike,
I managed to unpack the firmware.zip with jZip without any errors. I Investigated the files and I found the following code in the hboot_1.35.0000_signedbyaa.img file (see screenshot).
It seems that the firmware maybe could be flashed to a lot more cids. Maybe the android-info.txt file is responsible for what cids could be flashed cause there are only the following cid listed.
Code:
modelid: PM3511000
cidnum: HTC__001
cidnum: HTC__E11
cidnum: HTC__102
cidnum: HTC__032
cidnum: HTC__Y13
cidnum: HTC__J15
cidnum: HTC__M27
cidnum: HTC__203
cidnum: HTC__A07
cidnum: HTC__016
mainver: 1.16.401.6
btype:1
aareport:1
hbootpreupdate:12
RadioVer: 3.1204.168.32
erasebcid: 1
Is it possible to enhance the android-info.txt file like the one following (I got O2___102), repack it to firmware.zip and then flash it?
Code:
modelid: PM3511000
cidnum: HTC__001
cidnum: HTC__E11
cidnum: HTC__102
cidnum: HTC__032
cidnum: HTC__Y13

I don't want to brick my phone so thats why I ask before.
Thanks

Well, you can unpack firmware.zip with any compression tool like winrar, 7zip, winzip or linux tools, no problem. Also you can't change the CID's list because this will break firmware.zip signatures and it wont be possible to flash it.

You already visited the Rumrunner S-OFF thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2630531
and you did the S-Off procedure and now you have a S-Off Desire X.
Then come the questions, can I downgrade the hboot from JB to ICS ? Can I run an ICS RUU when I have S-Off ? and many more questions.
So for whatever reason you may have, read on ...
Requirements:
Knowledge of fastboot and adb
Unlocked bootloader for the hboot downgrade/upgrade and SuperCID
Relocked bootloader for installing RUU
SuperCID
NOTE : Before you decide to change your current CID to SuperCID, please take note and write down your currect CID somewhere in case you need to revert to your original CID.
I have only two different hboot i.e
hbootxxx.A meant for Asia WWE for below MID and CID
Code:
modelid: PM6610000
modelid: PM6612000
cidnum: HTC__044
cidnum: VODAP022
hbootxxx.E meant for Europe for below MID and CID
Code:
modelid: PM6610000
cidnum: HTC__001
cidnum: HTC__E11
cidnum: HTC__203
cidnum: HTC__102
cidnum: HTC__405
cidnum: HTC__Y13
cidnum: HTC__M27
cidnum: HTC__J15
cidnum: HTC__032
cidnum: HTC__A07
cidnum: HTC__304
cidnum: HTC__016
If your CID is not listed above, you need to change your CID to SuperCID
How to :
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Example:
Before : HTC__044
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After : SuperCID
How to change back to your original CID :
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem writecid [B]xxxxxxxx[/B]
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Replace the xxxxxxxx to the original CID. Example mine is HTC__044
so it is fastboot oem writecid HTC__044
Downgrade hboot to 1.20.0000
Attached is the hboot 1.20.0000 for the EU version 1.14.401.1 meant for below CID.

cidnum: HTC__032
cidnum: HTC__A07
cidnum: HTC__304
cidnum: HTC__016
mainver: 1.14.401.1
If you need to downgrade your hboot to 1.20.0000 but your CID is not listed, you need to change your current CID to SuperCID.
Check post #2 for the how-to
Before you downgrade the hboot, make sure you already flash an ICS ROM and ICS boot.img before you proceed with the How-To downgrade hboot.
If not, your device will be in a bootloop because of wrong hboot for wrong ROM.
How to downgrade hboot:

Install RUU
AFAIK, there are only three RUU available for Desire X
1- ruu_proto_u_ics_40a_htc_asia_wwe_1.14.707.1_radio_10.18.40.05u_1.09.45.201_release_284720_signed.exe
2- RUU_PROTO_U_ICS_40A_HTC_Europe_1.14.401.1_Radio_10.18.40.05U_1.09.45.201_release_284072_signed.exe
3- RUU_PROTO_U_ICS_40A_HTC_Europe_1.18.401.1_Radio_10.21.40.06U_1.10.40.23_release_295191_signed.exe
You can download them here : http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Proto
How to install RUU :
1- in fastboot mode - relock the bootloader : run command fastboot oem lock
2- in fastboot mode - flash/run/double click the RUU; follow the updater instruction - next, update, bla, bla, bla until it finish
You need to re-apply for the unlock_code.bin from htcdev.com to re-unlock your device.
So .. if you changed your hboot to 1.20.0000 you can install RUU no.1 or no.2
and .. if you changed your hboot to 1.24.0000 you can install RUU no.3
The process that my Desire X go through after hboot was downgraded to hboot 1.20.0000 and installed the no.1 RUU 1.14.707.1
Then received OTA to update to 1.18.707.1
Then received OTA to update to 1.18.707.3
And final OTA to update to 2.22.707.6
S-On again ??
To S-On again
Code:

fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3

The you need to go through the Rumrunner S-OFF procedure again when you decide to S-Off again.
Example :
Before : S-Off
After : S-On
Great! Will link this in my tutorial and in the FAQ of the help thread. Do a request to sticky it!
if i choose to s-off I'll get radio vibrate bug -- the question is after i downgrade hboot and apply ruu will the vibrate bug dissappear (in other words will the ruu change the radio version and automatically s-on)??
Also, will the radio vibrate bug harm my phone in any way or is it just some vibrations and no harm whatsoever??
For the first question, I don't know, for the second one, it's just the vibrations, not more.

I don't think the vibration is really the radio bug because changing the radio, the vibration bug still there.
If you downgrade hboot then install RUU, the radio get updated/downgraded as well but your device will still S-Off. It won't automatically change it to S-On.
And the vibration bug still there too.

No idea .... this is more suitable to be asked in the S-Off thread.
What I know you get that vibration bug and the ability to Hot Reboot is gone. Normal reboot, no problem.
So.. my advise is if you don't have a good reason to S-Off then don't do it and stick to S-On.

It most definitely is a radio issue. It just happens to be present in all available versions.

HTC_032 (wrong, not enough character should be eight not seven)
HTC__032 (correct, eight characters with double "_", so it is "__")
thanks for your reply .. I did not pay attention to the two dashes, and I want to know how to do it if ever God forbid needed ..

Same way as you did the SuperCID
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem writecid HTC__032
fastboot reboot-bootloader
But you need an S-Off device.
Since your device is now S-On, you need to run the S-Off procedure again.
1. Re S-Off
2. Change CID
3. Re S-On (if you need it)
Note : Your original CID is HTC__032, you don't need to change to SuperCID in the first place.
SuperCID is only for people with CID not listed in the list as I posted in post #2.

If your current radio is 1.15.40.04, you already have the latest.
I don't see a need to write how to flash radio for the time being.
[MOD] Remove Red Text on Splash Screen [HBOOT 2.22.0000]
This mod requires S-OFF to use and you flash it at your own risk!
This mod removes the red "development purposes only" text that is displayed on the system splash screen each time you boot/restart your phone.

Instructions (Method 1):
Download the correct hboot file for your device from below.
Extract the included 0P4EIMG.zip and copy it to the root folder of your external SDCARD.
Reboot your phone into the bootloader. (Google if you don't know how)
If your phone displays FASTBOOT and not HBOOT hit the Power button and it will switch
Once in HBOOT it will scan your external SDCARD for the 0P4EIMG.zip file and load it if you renamed and copied it successfully.
Once found follow the prompts on screen to flash the file and reboot the device.
When your device reboots make sure to remove/rename the file or it will be loaded every time you boot into the bootloader.
Instructions (Method 2):
Download the corresponding hboot for your device.
Extract the included 0P4EIMG.zip into your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
Enter the following commands from terminal/command prompt in the fastboot directory, one at a time:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this puts the device in RUU mode)
fastboot flash zip 0P4EIMG.zip (this flashes the modified hboot zip file)
Important: the flash process halts at around 75% to 90% on phone screen! This is normal and a safety precaution!
The last few percent is the reboot, which is NOT happening automatically, so you get a chance to check the console output before reboot to make sure it is safe to reboot!
The bar will only fill up to 100% once you type the following command:
fastboot reboot
That's it, you're done. You can now reboot and not see the red text anymore.

Adding your Desire 601 hboot to the list.
-PSA-
Your OTA zip can include things like stock recovery, stock kernel, and stock hboot, just to name a few commonly modified items.
It's highly recommended to hang on to your OTA downloads when you get them. It makes a great way to hang on to stock versions of files updated by the OTA and makes returning to stock later so much easier. To do this, when the file is done downloading select install later and then copy the zip file to another location (the OTA file should be located in a folder on your external SDCARD) and then click the notification to continue the update.
hboot files not listed above:
To add your hboot to the list I will need two things:
(Both these files are found in the KitKat OTA zip so if you happen to still have your KitKat OTA extract the firmware.zip and upload it somewhere and send me the link to me. This guide assumes you don't have your OTA still.)
The stock hboot of your device
An "android-info.txt" file to allow your device to flash it
This requires some help from you to make this happen.
Part 1
To backup your stock hboot so I can modify it and remove the red text the following steps are required:
Your device must be rooted.
You must have the ADB files on your computer.
Plug your phone into your computer, open a command prompt, and type "adb shell" and press enter.
Type su and press enter to make sure you have root access. (Should get a prompt similar to [email protected]:/ #)
Type dd if="/dev/block/mmcblk0p12" of="/storage/ext_sd/hboot.img" and press enter
Type exit and press enter (this returns you to a normal adb shell without root)
Type exit and press enter (this returns you to your computers normal command prompt)
Type adb pull /storage/ext_sd/hboot.img and press enter (this will download the file from your SDCARD to your current directory on your computer)
Keep note of this directory so you can find the file later.
Keep your command prompt open for part 2.
Click below for an example of the complete steps above as entered in the command prompt. These are copied from my command prompt.
C:\Android>adb shell

Part 2
Obtaining the necessary information for me to make an "android-info.txt" file:
Your command prompt should still be open from part 1
Type adb reboot bootloader and press enter.
Your device will boot into fastboot and should display FASTBOOT USB
Type fastboot getvar all and press enter.
Take your mouse and highlight all the lines starting with "(bootloader)" and press enter.
Make a new text file and paste (Ctrl+V) the information into it.
Delete the following lines: serialno, imei, & meid.
Save the file.
The resulting file should look like this:
Code:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 2.22.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 1.14.50.0516
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main: 2.15.652.15
(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-OFF
(bootloader) product: zara_cl
(bootloader) platform: HBOOT-8930
(bootloader) modelid: 0P4E10000
(bootloader) cidnum: SPCS_002
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 4131mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: off
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: dirty-7778cb8b
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
You now have what is required, all that is left is to get it to me. You can PM me the hboot.img and contents of the text file, or simply post them here in a reply to this thread. I will modify the hboot and make the android-info.txt and post them here when done.
So, ended up running the RUU on my phone last night and noticed there was a system update notification right away. So I checked and to my surprise my phone got updated with the Stagefright vulnerability patch. I'm not sure who, if anyone, is still using this phone or even on stock ROM to notice it got this update (haven't seen any mention of it) but, with the new update comes new firmware, and with the new firmware comes a new hboot.
I've added stock and no red text variants of the newer bootloader for the Virgin Mobile (ZARA_CL) variant. I've also updated all the links to use Android File Host now instead of Google Drive. There's still the alternate downloads available by clicking "Downloads" near the top of the thread. Also, if anyone else with a different variant who has received the update would like their newer hboot modified the instructions are in post #2.
