Ok I would like to ask a couple of questions: I was looking at the (i'll preference myself and it is my favorite phone) galaxy s3 getting the 4.3 update. And after switching carriers I bought and fixed the optimus l9 gained a love for it and now the g. But I'm disappointed with the community behind these LG devices... why isn't there a g2 or g-pro port yet? And can it be done?

community on lg Optimus phones has been the least popular and in my opinion they are better than other similar phones so id love to know that too. there are some g2 and pro ports for like... file manager, lg keyboard, and some other apps but they really aren't great for the lgog. the lack of development, roms, mods really could use some more input. I want to upgrade my of to a g2 but I'm hesitant because of the lack of information and interest. what where you looking for ported? I think most of the stuff that can be done is already available.

Well I want 4.2 or higher. I like then phone as is but the LG UI is a little cartoony and again my previous phones where the gs2 and 3 and the UI chAgnes that were made were creative and refreshing... and I am with you on the community support and the lack there of, after some research turns out Samsung copies LG a lot. Anyway I am like you I may not go for another LG device of there isn't any support

Hello all. I am Selling my 5 months old s3 and thinking for optimus G.
Xperia z, htc 1, sgs4 are out of my budget.
Plz suggest me any other model if u want to. Also I think op g will be better upgrade over s3.
Thanks.

Lg is good. My first droid was optimus net which is still working good. Also op g has build quality. Looks. Performance. I am not a brand hater or brain washed by sammy.

Just go with your feelings, if you like galaxy, then stick with it, if you like optimus, go for it.
Personally think both phones are flagship level, performance different are minimum, just different by outside looking
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
depends on your needs..performance wise, they are alike.but why change phone if u are satisfied with what u got,if not satisfied, then by all means change it..
If I were looking at something like the Optimus G, I'd probably go with the Nexus 4 instead.

Nexus 4 not available in india. So pp g is best suited.

well s3 is good but not the best in my opinion. if the thing is not giving u satisfaction then it doesn't matter at all that the phone is so popular & so costly & bhal bhal.......
For me i am not really happy wid s3. multitasking sucks. plastic feels so cheap. always have fear in mind of sudden death, only my thoughts.
So i want to change it.
Honestly i miss blinkfeed, Its just too amazing. Any chance anyone can port the Blinkfeed to G2? I installed flipboard but it wont even come close

I agree. Would be cool to have. May be too integrated into Sense to be portable, through. Here's to hoping...

There's a thread talking about porting HTC Sense. I imagine you need the whole package to get this to work. Personally, if I can have any dream feature ported from a different phone it would be touchless control
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
I wouldn't want the whole Sense UI ported simply because LG UI has its own beauty and IMPO it is less controlling compared to sense.
Please stop asking for multiple features from other phones. Its fairly annoying now and its kinda making me regret getting a G2 now.
I miss newsstand from iOS can someone port the app please. That's what it looks like to me. Expect someone else to do work for them. Its be nice to contribute

Depends on your usage. I use my G2 because the battery life is better, and the screen is the perfect size for me. I like my MotoX for the stock android + moto added features, and it's the most comfortable phone I've ever used.
Since this is all mostly subjective, can you tell us what don't you like about the G2 that you think you'll get on the MotoX?

i'm not sure what you expect to hear from the G2 forum; this question is probably better suited for the Moto X General forum than here.
at least give a reason why you want to switch
With the assumption that your G2 is in mint condition...I will buy that for a dollar. There, did I convince you to switch?
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
I chose the g2 over the maxx the x and the gs4 for the screen and the camera plus the 3000mAh battery.
UI is awful though. Rooted the next day

yes switch...because u already thinking about it, if you thinking about it then this phone is not for u
I wouldnt switch. 3000mah is important to me, I can run google experience launche with the "ok google" feature all day long and my battery get down to 15% every night which is awesome. I dont install anything or disable anything to preserve battery life, I like to use my smart phone as a smart phone not as a battery bencher.
LOL why in the hell would u wanna switch ? unless you need money dont do it its a dumb question
This was something I was thinking about as well. IMO, the main reasons to choose the Moto X over the G2 is for its always on voice activation and its active notifications. If those two features outweigh having a better screen, better camera, and overall better hardware, then you should get the Moto X. Official Kit Kat is nice, but you can get that through a custom ROM or just by installing the Google Experience Launcher. I had 4.4 on my Galaxy Nexus and GEL feels the same, except with LG's notification bar and knock knock, and smoother because of the better hardware. Maybe it's because I haven't experienced the always on voice activation and the active notifications, but those two features aren't enough for me to switch.

You know that our processor has the capability of an "always on" voice recognition feature, right? Not saying it is going to be put in there on the kit kat upgrade, but I'm saying that it is a possibility, albeit a small one. If not, I am thinking of starting up a bounty thread to see if one of the amazing devs for this device can get it working. In fact, I am going to get on that right now.

I know, Hexagon DSP. Unfortunately it's only available to OEMs right now. Emailed the dev for Open Mic+ and Qualcomm hasn't opened to independent devs just yet. It would be nice if they did include it with Kit Kat, but I'm not holding my breath. The apps are there to give us the same functionality as the Moto X, but the battery drain isn't worth it to me.
I traded my motox for a G2 and never liked back. The motox is really nice and the overall user experience is great but it's tiny. Yes the screen size is the same as the n4 but it's only 6mm bigger than the iPhone 5s. Just keep that in mind and that u will also lose features like the IR Blaster.

I had a G2 for 2 months, and just switched to a Moto X Developer Edition. I missed unskinned Android, and the overblown interface on the G2 was just too much. The Moto X seems smoother, and the user experience, with Active Display and Touchless Controls, is far better for my needs.
Hope this helps!

Hey guys, can anyone comment or give me there honest opinion which way I should go. I am on my 6th Nexus 5 replacement (RMA) and I'm getting tired of it. Have not been able to enjoy my device BUT have now been offered a refund. I have been looking at other options is live to get the Moto X but this is only available at a extremely high premium that I cannot justify to pay in Australia. My next best option is the LG G2. Can I get some honest feedback please, is it a worthy upgrade from the Nexus 5 or should I look at other options. I've heard that the G2 hasn't got the best UI, will this change with the upgrade to KitKat 4.4?
Any opinions would be helpful in making my decision.
Thanks in advance!

I had both and kept the G2. No comparison hardware wise. Screen is much better, reception is far better, build quality is better, design is better, camera is better, speaker is better, and headphone out quality is a ton better,. The stock rom is really good for stock, and CM11 absolutely takes care of any desire to go back to the Nexus. Just my 2 cents though.

I can't believe how butthurt people get over a simple discussion comparing Android devices. I used to find it strange that you couldn't make a thread comparing phones, but now I kinda get it.
Keep N5 if you absolutely want an active xda community and if you want an AOSP experience
Go for G2 if you want better battery, camera and sound
It's currently on 4.2.2, 4.4 on its way. Entirely possible to theme it to not look like a Serbian diskotek, but unfortunately the AOSP ports are pretty bad. Everything works but the camera and audio drivers are substandard and the kernel isn't optimized for this device.

Oh yeah and the battery is obsviously better on the G2 but who cares because the N5 has Franco kernel.
Bottom line it all comes down to personal preference and price.

Didn't we get the hint yet? Just wondering. It's personal preference op. I have the n5 and love it. I've also played with the g2. As far as the screen being alot better I don't see it.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
I have the G2 mainly because the N5 isn't on Verizon and my work provides me the phone. The G2 is the closest thing to the N5 I could get. The only thing I worry about is long term support by the community for future roms and what not. Right now the G2 has root, custom recoveries and a nice selection of custom roms but how long will dev support last going forward.

Ive found that the 4.4.2 camera update equals if not bests the G2. (I have both, but keeping my Nexus 5 due to the fact that there are no clean, simple CIQ free ROM developers anymore)

Here is a comparison. They have different SoC's and radios. Not sure if that is a deal breaker but other than that they are almost legitimately close on several specs. Hence why I asked if it is possible that leak was good for our phones. I am hoping it is. Who knows?
