I browse a lot and post rarely, hoping that I can find the answer I'm looking for without having to create some kind of obnoxious repeat thread. I try to observe the rules in every capacity and I'm sorry if this frustrates any regular users in this forum. I just, for the life of me, can't find a guide to using a qi receiver sticker AND and an S View flip cover. I know that there has to be some manipulation or modding as far as the pins are concerned (i.e. which qi pins need used and which pins should be available to the S view case), but I need it to be spelled out plain as day so I can understand. I WANT both of these features and don't want to wait until god-knows-when for samsung to release that official cover option at a huge price point. I'm reasonably capable enough that with a guide, I think I could do it. I'm just not rich enough or adventurous enough to find out through trial and error which combination of pins it is. I've seen some people say it can't be done, and some saying it can as long as at least one specific pin is left for the S View case. Is this a lost cause?
Again, apologies if this bothers anybody. I'm just trying to get the most out of an already outstanding device. I'm using the model from Verizon if it makes a difference to how I should go about this. Happy Holidays to everyone, and thanks for posting some sweet black friday deals
I'm thinking the qi pad I'll get is this one : http://www.amazon.com/Docooler-Stan...g-Receiver/dp/B00FTULQJU/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_i
It has great reviews and the setup seems idiot-proof. I'd like to use the official samsung S-View flip cover with it.
In any rate I feel like any case besides the S view flip coveres don't use the device to its full potential (though I definitely understand some people wanting more protective cases). What are your thoughts on that? Or this there another case you think is seriously a step up from the S View?
If this does violate any rules, let me know and I'll delete the thread. NOT trying to step on anyones' toes; I just don't know where else to turn to as XDA has always been my number one spot for questions about pretty much anything un-officially android.

The Note 3 has 3 pins, all you have to do is attach a copper wire (trimmed) to the middle one than attach the QI receiver which is going to take up the top and middle pin, than that extension you made of the middle pin is going to go over the QI receiver and you're going to connect that middle extension wire you made and bottom pin to the S-view cover. You have to also trim down the top pin of the S-view cover in order to keep it from extruding or bulging out. The QI receiver and the S-view cover are going to overlap each other on the middle pin.
Here are some diagrams i drew on my Note to help better explain it :
Here's a link i found on the N3 forum of someone who did the same thing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47673578&postcount=4
hope that helps
If you want you can also make a tear in the QI receiver and just attach the copper wire directly to the positive side of the QI receiver instead of a reach around approach.
If you're planning on getting the official Samsung S-View cover, why not wait for the version with wireless charging built in? It's only $10 more and guaranteed to work.

from my information the s view also uses the two top pins, same as the qi receiver.
whiles we're on the subject there is a thread on this, just a bit of searching will get you there, no need to open a new thread.

I know that many of us here are looking for a desk type dock that actually will work if the Note has a thin case on it. Anyone know of any? I can't see having to take the case off and put it on every time i want to use the dock.
I just ordered this.

I've got a Momax iCase Pro on my Note, so we'll see how the dock works with it (if at all).
I ordered the same thing. Hopefully it works.

The Elago G4 slim case works fine with docks but has open top and bottom.

I'm liking the Momax so far. It's got a lip on the front, which I love, and the fit was ok. The phone is much more comfortable against my ear now, but I had to trim the inside of the case where it touches the power button. I think the international note had a little more inset on the power button, so this case was over compensating with a little bump there. Quick trim sorted it out.
Bringing this back on topic, I can say for a fact that this dock (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/220923137856?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649) which I bought prior to the Momax case, is not at all compatible. It is however a good fit without a case (not that that's any use to me now).
Curious about the doc that the OP is talking about. Definitely want to see more pics of docs with cases.
Just thought I should follow up on this now that I have the dock.
It fits great with the Momax case, and looks much better in person than I thought it would. Also the ebay seller was very good, they screwed up and sent me the wrong dock at first, but they caught the error, and shipped the right one within a day (and told me to keep the wrong dock when it got here, no charge).
I'll see if I can take a few pics in a bit.
Sorry to revive the thread, but could you put some pictures of the dock ?
I have a case mate Tough..I guess I'm screwed for now ?
I have one of these from Seidio, and it's GREAT. Small footprint, easy on, easy off. Works just fine with my mercury gel case.

I'm starting this thread because I'm interested in finding covers and cases that attach to the phone as a replacement for the backplate, thus keeping it as trim as possible. The only one I've heard of is Samsung's own original covers, but I'm hoping there'll be others.

Sorry for being the third thread on this topic. I did a search, but didn't find anything specific on backplate replacemnt cases. Did find various on wallet and flip cases. Even if Samsung is taking forever, hopefully other manufacturers will jump in. But perhaps the backcover is patented?

I've been spending ages looking for the same thing. Definitely not a patent issue. There are literally hundreds of pages of various Note 3 covers on Amazon, many of which are replacement battery doors. Problem for me is that most are window cases claiming to be "S-View", none of which actually work with the s-view functionality. If I can't get a working S-View then I'd rather not have a window at all. I'm not sure about the official Samsung cover because it looks like it makes the phone much bigger by thickening the back to extend over the camera, and I want it slim as possible.
Best options I've seen so far look to be these:
http://www.amazon.com/Practical-COV...=1384427137&sr=8-53&keywords=n9000+flip+cover
There's also this:
http://www.amazon.com/Practical-COV...84428841&sr=1-200&keywords=n9000+battery+flip
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Cover-B...1384427417&sr=8-278&keywords=n9000+flip+cover
Final interesting one is this, which is the first 3rd party case I've seen which claims to properly support S-View. Looks pretty much identical to the Samsung case though:
http://www.amazon.com/YESOO-Leather...F8&qid=1384429365&sr=8-1&keywords=n9000+yesoo
Please let me know if you turn up anything else interesting, as it sounds like we both want the same type........

Thanks for all of your suggestions.
S-View support in the case would certainly be nice, but it is not a top priority. My priorities are:
1) Back cover (battery cover) replacement, not an outer attachement.
2) Some pockets for cards and bills, actually the outer front cover could come with a foldout for more cards and bills.
3) S-View support
I have an original Note and the case has two slits for cards and a long slit for bills, but it also comes with an outer attachement cradle, and that is a little too much bulk to be really comfortable. Since the Note 3 is thinner it would be real nice to utilize that for a better case experience this time around. Hence, I'm not that particular about price, although I believe the original Samsung S-View cover is waay overpriced, I have ordered one just to establish a base line for what is available out there.
I have started to encounter vendors that lets me use the NFC for payment, but lets face it, this will take at least a decade to take hold. In the meantime I still need to carry around some credit cards and bills. Some day I can hopefully start my car and open my doors with my Note 6.

I ordered and received a S-View case. The backplate is removed to attach the new case, it has two connectors that will allow you to use the S-View feature and charge it with wireless Qi chargers. There are no pockets for cards or bills, but the S-View window is a usable feature, it has two windows, swipe from right to left, the first shows time, date, weather and in my case a step counter, the other is for music, action memo and camera. The material is a leather like plastic that feels sturdy enough to withstand a smaller drop (not planning on testing that) and an added benefit is that the Note will fit in Samsung's multimedia dock with the covert attached.
Hopefully, third party vendors will come out with even more usable covers over time.

I see lots of $10-15 receivers on ebay, but the opinions are mixed.
I'm not using a case but of course I want it to fully support the original back cover (so it will close nicely and wont make any issues or make me open and relocate the plate often).
Any suggestions?
Also, I see that the original back cover from Sasmsung cost $40, that's not too bad, do you think its any better than using the 3rd party receiver "pads" (I don't mind spending more, but I wouldn't like to waste money just on a brand name).
Thanks!!

LOTS of great information in that thread!! You'll see most of the available eBay Qi receivers in that thread, and learn which are the thinnest, support NFC, have a bigger charging area, etc. I'll give you a little info right of the bat though. With the Samsung Qi battery door, you will NOT be able to use any cases that are currently available. That was the main deciding factor for me!

Thanks for the super quick responses!!
So after reading a bunch of posts about adding wireless charging and looking at a lot of QI+ NFC receivers on eBay and Amazon I had a question for you lot. The first few I saw had a heat spreading tape (the security sticker basically had copper on it to spread the heat) and haven't seen many since then (can't even find the originals that did). Should I worry about this? We all know this phone can get really hot. Yes I've applied some patches to help with it, but still, I was concerned!
If anyone could point me to a QI+NFC receiver that does have it, or an after market heat spreading security sticker, that'd be great! I'd also like to double check that the replacement NFC sticker continues to work with tags as well as beaming to another phone! (I'm asking because my GF got the Sprint Galaxy S4 and it doesn't seem to even acknowledge tags like mine does, ps, am using whiztag ntag216). Also, I'm using a Spigen Slim Armor case and want to make sure wireless charging works through it and NFC (tags and beaming) continue to work through it as well.
Thanks guys!

I bought this (Link below) and it came with the "heat spreading" sticker. It works well with charging, however, I cannot use any case on my phone while I charge or else it "slow charges." I have no idea if the NFC works because I don't use that feature. No heating problems when charging with Qi.

Heat spreader? My Verizon G3 (VS985) does not come with a heat spreader, but the NFC coil does look a bit like one. I replaced it with a white Qi+NFC sticker from ebay. There are two pieces. A black coil sticker with 4 contact points, and a white sticker that goes on top of the coil sticker (probably for protection). Qi charging works for 1 cm or so separation, and has no problem working through my Spigen Ultra Fit case. Not sure which variant of G3 you have, but make sure you have 4 contact pins on the back on your phone. Some G3 variant has two and does not support Qi.
I think one of the videos I watched initially showing installation mentioned the second sticker (to hold everything in place) was referred to as a heat spreader, which I read as a heat sink.
It is definitely not a heat spreader. It is a plastic-like sticker to keep the NFC sticker in place. My old Nexus 5 runs much hotter than my G3, so no need to worry about the heat issue.
