What is Chameleon OS:
Chameleon OS (or ChaOS for short) is a custom Android ROM that gives the user more control than they can experience on any other Android ROM. Starting with a CyanogenMOD base, we customize each piece to give ultimate control while maintaining the simplicity we all love about Android. The most notable feature of ChaOS is the theme engine, which can apply different pieces of themes in a true mix-and-match style. The launcher has been completely overhauled with tons of options that you'd normally need to download a third-party launcher for, such as home screen previews, folder sorting, and folder icon styles. The Messaging app has also had some UI retouches, including messaging bubbles and quick emoji button.
The entire framework of ChaOS has been modified around the theme engine, allowing for custom fonts, boot animations (with animated preview), and themes. No longer do you have to try to find the perfect theme, with Chameleon OS you can patch it together with your favorite pieces from different themes. Messaging, Phone, Status Bar, icons, everything can be set completely individually from each other which provides the capabilities to completely re-imagine your phone. Creating themes for the ChaOS Theme Engine is superbly simple and has extreme versatility.
Even with all of the features we've currently implemented, ChaOS will continue to mature with even more refined settings and features. We will be completely open source and will welcome developers to join us, whether it be by maintaining a device or utilizing our gerrit review. Even if you're not a developer, your voice will not go unheard. We will continually poll our users for the most wanted features and do our best to implement them.

Okay so some of us at The Evervolv Project have been working on an app that will take care of your bloat issues with sense roms, no matter the rom. This tool has been designed from the ground up to be geared towards sense rom developers & power users to be able to customize the app easily and fit their needs and roms.
Currently this is in preview "deep alpha". What does this mean? Well, we wanted to release a preview to users and rom developers so they could get a feel for where the app is going. This is going to be an ongoing work for quite some time, depending on interest generated. With that being said let list some of the key features, and go over what we're currently working on.
Rom developers seeking to include this in their rom, please PM me and we can talk things over and explain how to customize the app to your rom/users. This application will be open sourced, free to use by anyone and everyone. Take the code and make your own app. Decompile the app and change all the information to suit you (actually this is preferred). We'd also love input for the application from rom dev's and power users. Downloading previewers, feedback is definitely requested... but please hold off on post's referring to bugs right now. This is currently being worked on, and many of the issues will be taken care of shortly. With that said, if there is any java developers/programmers that would like to join the effort, feel free to PM me also.

Manifest xml url is definable via settings (menu > Settings)
Download folder is definable via settings. (requires app restart if folder is not already made, will be fixed next release)
Currently planned features:
Rom developer/power user can have a remote xml file downloaded by the app and used to populate the senseless apps, and removable apk's.
Currently only apps on the /system partition are support, apps in /data/apps is planned.
Currently only the apk for the desired app is removed from the device, removal of the app's data folder is not touched, leaving behind the app's userdata. Removing this data is planned and in the works.
Refined GUI, currently this is more of a mockup than a final product. (monochrome yuck)
Currently only qHD devices are supported, wvga device layouts will be taken care of shortly.
Custom tab design (currently using the android supplied example).
More options available to be user-definable
Much more...

Have I seen your work before? The name sounds familiar. Nah, jk. This is some great work. Everybody needs to check this out. I've used it and it's great and only going to get better.
2 Things achieved today...
The 'Remove sense' button now works as intented.
The xml file relaying all of the apk names and file downloads is now downloadable from a specified link.
Keeping an eye on this one...thanks, this is well needed.
Preview alpha 2
Changelog
'Remove sense' button now works properly (removes all apk's listed in the bloat list)
Support for wvga devices (480x800).
Support for remote manifest file (currently it downloads a test xml file specified in string resources).
Added settings
Added settings option to specify downloads folder
Added settings option to specify url link for the manifest xml file.
Miscellaneous code cleanup and duplicate removal.
Can't the same be achieved with titanium backup? Albiet not as easily understood or straightforward?
Don't get me wrong, I think this is a great idea, and I'll probably use it as well. Just trying to get clarification.

You're right, titanium backup can do what you're wanting. This app is by far not done yet. The idea behind it is to let developers give you the chance to remove what you want, instead of removing it for you. I'm also currently working on another tab that will allow you to download specified files (specified in the xml) and either install them (apk's) or flash them via recovery (reboots the phone after downloading the zip). This allows rom developers to give you certain flashable options and not have to include them on the sdcard (taking up space).

In that way, it sounds even better. It'd be awesome for rom creators to include this for the "extras"

installation without full wippe ?
i did full wipe twice. gonna test it further when i get home from work in a few hours and report back
installed this and it seems to run fine, but as a danish user it seems to need the asus keyboard program for the dock keyboard to work with danish characters, but that dont seems to be included here
thanks for your great work
everything works great except default keyboard setting. although i set it as Turkish, still doesn't work...beside this sooo cool for first trying

Have you tried changing the keyboard layout in Settings - System - Device Settings?
It needs a reboot to change the layout at present but that will be addressed in a future version.
How is the compatibility with the Keyboard dock? Not many people seem to be commenting on it, but that's one of the main reasons for me purchasing this device. .
time to update the ROM Directory!
...and time to flash a new ROM

Code:
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for giving us an easy foundation to develop ChaOS for mutiple devices
Reserved for changelogs
Install guide:
Download the rom
Download gapps
open the rom.zip (DONT EXTRACT THE WHOLE FOLDER) and pull boot.img out
once you have pull the boot.img out, put the two ZIP files onto your internal partition or sideload them or adb push
reboot into bootloader
flash the boot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
then reboot into recovery
FULL WIPE which means WIPE DATA/DALVIK/CACHE/SYSTEM (dont press format data)
Install the Cyanogemod zip
install gapps
reboot
Going back to 4.1.2
If you go back to your old 4.1 backup: Do not forget to re-flash your 'old' boot.img.
Also note that you'll have to move your migrated data from /sdcard/0/ back to /sdcard/ (CWM doesn't know about /sdcard/0/ yet).
This can be done via (while booted in CWM):
Code:
adb shell
cd /sdcard/0/
mv * ../
mv .* ../
cd ..
rmdir 0
Ok this section is the F&Q so if anyone ask's me a question that's been listed here, you'll be ignored.
Q:[B]I cant find all my stuff on the sdcard, where is it?[/B]
A: It's in the 0 folder, it's advisable to move all of your stuff to the 0 folder before flashing.
Q:[B]Where's developer options gone?[/B]
A: Go to about phone and bash Build Number until it says "you are now a developer"
Q:[B]I flashed your rom and all of my sdcard stuff is gone..I HATE YOU![/B]
A: Did you have TWRP or my CWM installed? if not that's why.
Q:[B]DO i need to full wipe?[/B]
A: No if your coming from CM10.1 / AOKP / AOSP / PA then you don't need to full wipe, just install the rom, wipe the dalvik-cache and install rom + gapps and kernel (boot.img)
before anyone ask's YES IT WILL BE DONE For the ATT X+ too
I suppose, that like in Your CM 10.1 update, this rom is also not compatible with Blade kernel?

well lloir you really opened a can of worms now
actually it only depends if it uses an AOSP ramdisk
if yes you can use the standard 42 BLADE kernel
only CM is a little bit different regarding ramdisk

extract the boot.img and try it. if it works then great, if not then use a prebuilt blade kernel. And to be clear, the CM rom is still using max's BLADE kernel just with ramdisk differences required to make it official
Actually I am busy enough with my projects so
I leave it to the ROM guys to sort all of that out
Well i do apologize for making the kernel for official cm in future you can do it @czarnas

Snappier than CM 10.1 (dunno why), but pretty same as in Paranoid 3.55. I will install Performance Tool and check how it will act in power saving mode.

Our rom includes all the basics:
Extended PowerMenu
Battery %,
Volume button music control.
Trackball Wake
Theme manager
Unique additions include:
sixbar signal strength
lockscreen dialpad, and a few lockscreen mods
However our biggest feature is the ability to turn all that off with one switch in the toolbox, giving you 100% aosp look and feel.
We also do eng builds (instead of userdebug like everyone else) providing more open experience (ie adb root by default) and full complement of commandline tools (busybox, vim, ssh, curl/wet with ssl support!)
Our newest addition is a custom updater written from scratch by Preludedrew and myself, featuring automatic update checks, support for downloading gapps, and advanced automatic install (TWRP and CWM supported but TWRP prefered)
Notes:
Superuser is in the toolbox.
Some display issues.
wifi hotspot (tether) is broke
4.2/3 issues carry over:
data (3g) might be unstable
no camcorder
no usb tether
Everything else should be fine.
Gapps:
available in updater ( source http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012857 )
STOP!! NOT FOR STOCK HBOOT

About space constraints. Kitkat is the biggest android to date. To save space the following apps have been removed from the system img.
VideoEditor
Calendar (can download GoogleCalendar from Market)
Email/Exchange (use gmail or flash attached zip to add them back.)
QuickSearch (replaced by GoogleSearch in gapps anyway)
Only including newest sounds package (Ringtones/Notifications/Alarms)
No bootanimation
If demand is high enough i am open to adding Calendar back in. VideoEditor is out for good its just way too big. I have attached a flashable zip containing Email/Exchange if you need it, at 6mb they are also too big to put back in by default.
If you have other ideas of things to remove, feel free to comment. Obviously any evervolv apps are not going to be removed so don't even ask.

Holy crap man! This is amazing. Great Work!
WOW.... That is just amazing... I was thinking about that this morning... Haha! Well Done. Thanks very much. Will have a try now.
Does not appear to be working with ART (I get a bootloop) This is on a 250/10 system partition, do I need larger for ART? This is both with and without gapps.
Still, awesome work!

I believe ART only works with odexd (user) builds
EDIT: I tried a user build. ART is broken on that as well.
SUCCEEDED...
This deserves to be on the XDA portal. C'mon guys vote for it!

Just flashed the ev_passion-4.0.0p1-perdo-squished.zip and can't believe how smooth it is. Very good job!
One major problem I find is that I cannot screen capture using ddms and there's is no "preview" on "recent" (long press home button). So I wonder if it is due to the display driver isn't quite fit to this ROM.
Here's logcat when I tried to take screenshot using ddms:
Code:

This is a humongous job, many thanks Texasice, i was was hoping for a full working camera/camcorder app, do you think we have a chance?

Great stuff here! Looks like Google Maps is acting right as well.
For some reason my notification bar stopped working though, no notifications are coming through and I can't get it to show the settings panel. Also the home key doesn't seem to do anything.
Other than that, so far so good!

I think the problems I was having were caused when I installed gapps and somehow the phone got partially stuck in the setup mode where those functions are disabled. I reformatted and tried again (making sure to install gapps before booting) and everything seems fine.

Introduction
Tired of pulling down notification shade every time you want to check progress of ongoing download? This xposed module allows you to have progress of your ongoing download in front of your eyes; saving you from interrupting your current activity every time you want to check for progress.
Features
- implicitly supports all downloads carried out via Android's standard download manager
- implicitly supports bluetooth transfers
- implicitly supports Chrome and Firefox browsers
- with "God mode" turned on, progress bar will be shown for ANY ongoing notification that contains progress bar (for 3rd party download managers, browsers and other not implicitly supported scenarios)
- customizable position, margin, thickness, and color of progress bar
- optional sound notification when transfer is finished or interrupted
- supports multiple concurrent progress bar notifications
ROM Compatibility
- All ROMs based on AOSP 4.1+, potentially including custom ROMs
- Compatibility with a particular custom ROM depends on how intrusive are changes made to the standard system functionality related to status bar and notification handling
- The same applies to heavily modified OEM ROMs
Reporting bugs
If you have troubles to get module working on your device/ROM, make sure to:
- install debug version available in the second post and attach xposed error log after testing with some notification containing progress bar. Xposed error log can be exported from within Xposed Installer app
- provide fully decompiled SystemUI package
Required permissions
- Read external storage - required by Ringtone chooser

Want one or two features, not the whole business. Great!
BTW: No need to disable the UI if not "active." Easier to set properties, click active and reboot and voile.

Yeah, I got your point, but it doesn't make any difference as those options don't require reboot when changed.

There are no errors logged for this module. The ones in the log come from other modules (xstana, tinted status bar).
Make sure you actually tried downloading something before exporting a log.
You can initiate download by e.g. downloading some app using play store.
Would it be possible to implement it for Firefox download manager as well?
And also a colour picker perhaps?

Firefox? Hard to tell. This could be a bit of an issue since it's a third party app and things can change with every update.
Color picker is planned for some future release.
Not working in Samsung galaxy core gt-i8262
@C3C076 Your module work perfectly on CM 10.2 Maclaw ROM, thantks :good:

The one and only permission that app requires (as mentioned in the OP) is com.android.vending.BILLING
You can check in the manifest: https://github.com/C3C0/Statusbar-Download-Progress/blob/master/AndroidManifest.xml#L11
This is because of the in-app donations, which I decided for as I was trying to learn how in-app billing using Google play services works. That's all.

Nothing in the log apart from errors from other module.
BTW, this is not a full log. It's trimmed. I cannot see whether module was even loaded at all.
Anyway, if you are able to pull whole /system/framework folder and /system/app/SystemUI.apk including odex from your ROM and provide them
somewhere for download, I will be able to do some reverse engineering to see if anything could be done about it.
I could also provide you with version with verbose debug logging turned on then.

SystemUI apk is not enough. As I wrote previously, I need the whole /system/framework/ folder to be able to deodex and decompile framework and SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex (in case there is such file).
