I was running Androwook HairbyBean V2.31 for months.
I decided I wanted to try CMB 4.3.1. The custom TWRP 2.5 from Androwook would not recognize it for whatever reason. So I downloaded the new TWRP JB.blob from the TWRP website (2.6.3.0). I updated it via Fastboot. Everything went fine. I booted into TWRP and now it prompts me for a password and will not mount anything (System, SD, external SD, etc...). The worst part is I cannot get back to Fastboot no matter how many times I try to reboot holding Power and Volume down. Ugh. Here is what TWRP states:
E:Unable to find parition size for '/misc'
E:Unable to find parition size for '/staging'
E:Unable to find parition size for '/data'
E:Unable to find parition size for '/boot'
E:Unable to find parition size for '/recovery'
Updating partition details....
E:Unable to mount '/cache'
E:Unable to mount '/cache'
E:TWFunc::COpy_Log --Can't open destination log file: '/cache/recovery/log'
E:Unable to set emmc bootloader message.
E:Unable to mount '/cache'
When I go into the Mount Menu in TWRP I cannot select any Partitions to mount.
When I shutdown or reboot with TWRP it says that SU is not installed, if I allow it to install it fails as it cannot write to the path.
Next step was I installed the Universal Naked Driver .72 to get Win8 to recognize my Prime as an ADB device. I tried the Option 1a from the popular "How to Unbrick your Transformer Prim (or Not)" thread. Everything seemed to work just fine but no change in status. I still cannot get to fastboot mode and I am stuck continually rebooting into TWRP and TWRP itself refuses to mount anything so I cannot flash or restore. Stuck. Now what?
Any help or guidance is appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and support.
Keith
I thought I put this in the Q&A/Help section but evidently not. It will not allow me to delete or move. Mods: Please feel free to do so. Sorry.
I guess I figured out the issue. Sucky.

Just wanted to post this in case anyone runs into this problem with the EVO 4G LTE. I believe I caused it by trying to "Factory Reset" via bootloader.
I was unable to format /sdcard via busybox per instructions in other threads. I was, however, able to format fine with Windows 7. The proper options are:
File System: fat32
Allocation Unit Size: 4096
Perform a quick format: Unchecked
The other settings can be left on default. Similar settings should work from other operating systems. After this, you can mount the /sdcard via your recovery and transfer/flash your downloaded rom.
Edit: must mount via recovery so it will show up in Windows.
Thank your for this post. I was trying to load a ROM and something errored out. Then, I tried to load it again but noticed that I had to following:
E:failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument)
I was able to format in Windows 7 and then sucessfully load the ROM.
I was actually stuck in a boot loop prior to me trying to reformat the card. To fix that, I pressed down the power button for about 45 seconds and then it eventually stopped rebooting. I was then able to get into recovery.
Anyway, hope this helps someone.
failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid argument)
Hi there, just got the same error message up. I've tried formatting in bootloader (cwm), also twrp and neither allow the sd card to be seen on pc. I've used minitool partition wizard to partition on the pc following instructions from the xda site and that doesn't show up on the android system either way i format from pc it comes up on mounting from android as the "failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid argument)" error
Any other solutions anyone??
Thanks
Dan
I have a ZOPO C2 (http://www.zopomobileshop.com/en/18...tk6589t-5-inch-fhdg-screen-android-phone.html) and it's stuck at the boot image.
I know what went wrong: I tried to move some of the memory of my internal sdcard memory(32GB) to my internal memory(2GB) using this apk: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240954
After rebooting it just got stuck at the boot image, and the button combination to get into recovery doesn't work (it never did work so no change there)
Through adb I managed to get into TWRP recovery. I cannot wipe anything (except the external sd-card):

I tried installing a custom ROM, which doesn't fail, but I do get a screen full of the same error message:
E:A render request has failed.
Click to collapse
It also gives 1 line of this error message every second while the screen locks due to timeout.
After installing the custom ROM, I try to reboot, but the TWRP warns me "No OS installed, reboot?". After reboot again stuck at boot image.
I tried 2 custom ROM's, both of which worked earlier.
I also cannot use adb shell:
- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) nRet(-1) -
Click to collapse
However, I can use the Terminal Command within recovery
Within TWRP recovery I can also use the file manager, where the /system/bin/ folder is empty.
My guess is my filesystem is corrupted. Any idea on how to fix this without adb shell?
Edit: Nevermind, flashed the device using latest stock ROM with manufacturer flasher:

Fixed
same problem
I have the same problem for the same reason, have tried flashing with the latest stock rom, but does not connect to my phone, how was you able to connect thought adb
thanks

With the flasher I used all I had to do was remove the battery, plug in the usb and let the flasher do its work.
Hi All
I had my phone on charge overnight (as usual), but when I got up this morning, I had an error "Device memory damaged" on screen, it says "The data partition has been corrupted. You need to reset the device to factory defaults. This will erase all your data" and has a button marked "Reset device"
When I tap the button, it boots to recovery, TWRP scrolls some text on screen, it then reboots back to the same error screen.
If I manually boot into recovery and try to wipe data, I'm told
Code:
E: Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer.
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to recreate /data/media folder.
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to mount internal storage.
E: Unable to mount /data/media during GUI startup.
Full SELinux support is present.
E: Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/. twrps when trying to read settings file.
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to wipe '/data'
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to mount internal storage.
I tried flashing recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.6-i9300 via heimdall to see if that had any more success, but that failed too (although I'm not sure if that was due to the phone or my heimdall set-up).
I've spent most of the day trying to find a fix, but I'm just going around in circles.
The Phone is an i9300, and it was running UltimaROM 17.1
Any ideas how to get my phone working again?

First flash the latest stock firmware for your country then factory reset in recovery before first boot.
If that fails then try the rescue firmware thread in general forum, use the 4 3 version and pit file that thread contains.
If that also fails then it sounds like your memory is indeed damaged.
I wouldn't advise anyone charge the battery in their phone overnight, the processor and nand memory is then running 24/7 and will obviously fail sooner

I have same problem but phone is s7 edge. Did you found a solution.
Unable to mount is a twrp issue. I've seen it many times before.
I have solved it on a custom rom by flashing an official clockworkmod recovery.
I have solved it on a stock firmware by flashing a stock recovery
I have solved it by flashing back to stock completely.
*I have read that some people cannot recover their phone from that state.*
Hi,
I have a Galaxy S3 I9300, I was running Temasek CM12.1 - version 12.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-temasek-s-unofficial-cyanogenmod-12-t3086689).
All of a sudden my phone rebooted and is now stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy SIII" screen.
I CAN boot into download mode and recovery mode (I have TWRP 2.7.0.0 installed).
I CANT boot into Android or mount internal or external storage.
Ive tried to reflash CM12 by Temasek and CM11 by CyanogenMod and also a stock rom from SamMobile but ODIN keeps failing: http://pasteboard.co/2cyl2aKU.png
Before my phone stopped working I created a TWRP backup hoping it would backup my images and videos but when I check my external SD on my laptop I just shows my the following files (TWRP>BACKUPS>4df1b92257504f3d>2015-07-19--07-08-57 LMY47V test-keys):
Code:
boot.emmc.win
boot.emmc.win.md5
data.ext4.win000
data.ext4.win000.md5
data.ext4.win001
data.ext4.win001.md5
recovery.log
system.ext4.win
system.ext4.win.md5
When I launch TWRP and check the log it says the following:
Code:
E:Unable to find partition size for '/boot'
E:Unable to find partition size for '/recovery'
E:Primary block device '/dev/block/mmcblk0p12' for mount point '/data' is not present!
E:Unable to mount '/data'
E:Unable to recreate /data/media folder.
Updating partition details...
E:Unable to mount '/efs'
E:Unable to mount '/cache'
E:Unable to mount '/system'
E:Unable to mount '/data'
E:Unable to mount '/preload'
E:Unable to mount internal storage.
E:Unable to mount /data/media during GUI startup.
E:Unable to mount '/cache'
Full SELinux support is present.
E:Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrp when trying to read settings file.
E:Unable to mount '/data'
Is there a way to fix this, or force the phone to mount the internal storage?
I would like to backup/pull my PICTURES AND VIDEOS from the phone. Ive tried ADB pull but can't seem to get it to pull anything as the storage isn't mounted. However I can push files fine, I pushed a custom rom and tried to flash but still not able to flash from recovery either.
Or can someone point me in the direction of a specialist that can recover my images and videos.
Thanks in Advance all the help is appreciated.
Same here...
Hi, I have the same problem. If you have any solution I'll appreciate.

can you get to download mode? . Will it take a flash?. Try an official clockworkmod recovery. Ages ago twrp did a number on my phone too, managed to flash cwmr and got it back.. I don't like twrp, it breaks phones.

Hello, I have this problem where TWRP is not able to mount /data, although the device still works without any other problems. This is preventing me to install XPosed, unfortunately. I have a custom ROM installed, although I can flash stock temporarily if required.
I've done an extensive Google search for this, and all the methods didn't help at all. TWRP can't repair nor reformat the data partition.
Here's the full log:
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer.
Failed to mount '/data' (No such device)
Unable to recreate /data/media folder.[/COLOR]
Updating partition details...
[COLOR="red"]Failed to mount '/data' (No such device)
Failed to mount '/preload' (Invalid argument)[/COLOR]
...done
Full SELinux support is present.
[COLOR="Red"]Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps[/COLOR]
I'm running TWRP 3.0.2-1.
Thank you for your help.

have you checked your twrp recoverys fstab?
Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk
I looked into the TWRP fstab, and noticed that the partition types didn't match, so I formatted the partition with the correct type and reflashed the ROM, and now everything is going smoothly. Thanks!
