I was prepping for the KitKat build and decided to make sure I was on the most current firmware. I made a CM backup and then flashed flyhalf's global update from here, I renamed to PH98IMG.zip and booted to bootloader. Everything patched successfully, but after rebooting it's been stuck on the white HTC screen for >1 hour now. Should I be doing a factory reset from bootloader, or is there another way to save this?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if it was this update or not, but there was on that they were saying you had to run the update twice in a row. May or may not help, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Ah, I searched and found these steps.

You have to
1. lock if your s-on
2. fastboot oem rebootRUU
3. fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
4. Might have to run it twice
5. reboot bootloader

I didn't do any of the fastboot/CMD stuff. I'll try it again, but I'm inclined to think I screwed things up. Since there's a PH98IMG.zip on the card, I can't get into fastboot at the moment. I need to look for my external card reader if I still have it.
Thank you though.
Was able to delete the PH98IMG.zip with an external card reader and proceed from there.
Restored, no data. Tried another ROM, no data. Tried a 3rd ROM, no data connection whatsoever.
Trying to get into Linux and install the firmware properly at the moment, as I can't get fastboot or adb to work on Windows 8.1.
Update: ABD/fastboot failed on Linux too.
FINAL EDIT: I flashed the RUU in a last desperate attempt to get data back, after ADB/Fastboot didn't work on Linux or Windows. The RUU fixed data and I was able to move to another ROM.

Do you mean like dialing *228 to reactivate service? I didn't need to, it worked fine. Once I was able to boot to the RUU I received a couple of texts and a voicemail from earlier Sunday.

no once you do an ruu which is an exe file or the ota update which is a ph98img.zip file you will be prompted with a welcome screen where you'll hit next a number of times....on one of those screens it will register and activate your verizon service to not only have the phone read that its active with your carrier properly but enable your data as well

I did this a while ago because i was going to try rooting, then changed my mind. Anyway, no I'll effects, until recently when, T-Mobile pushed out a software update. Tried doing the update (numerous times), but nothing happened. Called T-Mobile; no help. Forgot about it since I read it was a minor update. Anyway, since my phone had been using up batteries very fast, I decided to do a factory reset. Strangely, this did not work either. Again t-mobile ; no help. Then got the idea to unlock the boot loader again and see what happens. That worked. Was able to wipe the phone. Then with the bootloader unlocked, I again attempted to do the software update. Phone rebooted and went right into 4ext recovery and after the update failed at first, giving me a message that the ext. Sd card could not be found. I used 4ext to mount the ext SD, which was not mounted. The update successfully completed. Apparently, with the phone in relocked state, many things seem to be not possible.

Thanks for the response, but can't imagine what I could I have done wrong? All I did when trying to install the update was click the 'update now' box. phone simply rebooted to recovery and did nothing else. Navigated to 'reboot'. Phone rebooted and update was still there un-installed. Checked software version; unchanged. When trying to do system restore, tried it from security menu and also tried booting direct to recovery. Highlighted 'system restore', pushed power button. Both ways and the phone simply rebooted with everything still intact!!
P.S. Didn't know ARHD works with Amaze 4g? Would love to try it, but a little anxious about doing wire thing to get to s-off. It's my only phone. Is it risky?

Well I'm pretty sure that with the locked bootloader and stock Rom there won't be any issues I was not rooted or any of that. And I'm not S-off. I didn't mess with any of that wire crap just make sure you have 4ext recovery and have smart flash enabled in the options and you can flash all the Roms you want. Just make sure before every Rom flash you make sure the smart flash is enabled unless you configure it to stay on.

My strange problems are continuing. Yesterday I was finally able to do a factory reset and update the software on my phone. Now for some strange reason, I can no longer enable WiFi or Bluetooth. It's as if since I told T-mobile that I had unlocked, and relocked my phone, they sent a signal to my phone to totally screw it up.!!!

Ok well what i would do in this situation would be to just start over fresh. First download the newest ruu we have from here for tmobile: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617644, which would be this one: RUBY_ICS_35_S_TMOUS_2.14.531.3_R2_Radio_1.14.550L. 17DC_30.78.550L.15_release_262141_signed.zip and make sure you rename it PH85IMG.zip and place that on your externel sd card. Once you do that make sure you phones boot loader is locked (i use hansoons tool kit for all this) once boot loader is locked (says relocked) then you can boot into I think its called hboot (the screen where is says locked/relocked/unlocked/) by powering phone off then pushing Vol down key and power at the same time and hold it will bring you to a screen where it will start reading the file you just put on you sd card and ask if you want to update. Vol up for yes and vol down for no select yes and it will do its thing and it will ask to press power button to reset and the will boot up to stock ICS and everything should work fine.
Thank you so much. Actually had to do it a little differently. Downloaded the ruu and renamed it. Put it in the data subfolder of all-in-one kit. Used Hasoon's to reboot to bootloader. Then flashed the ruu using Hasoon's. Same thing, I guess. Anyway, everything works now. I put the PH85IMG.zip in the root of the sdcard. any idea why rebooting to the bootloader did not find it and start the flash? Says PH85IMG.zip not found.

Yes all you have do is first unlock bootloader, then you will need to flash a 4ext recovery, after that root is needed. The easiest way its to use hansoons tool. After all that our done you will need to download super wipe.zip from the arhd page and the room of choice I actually get better battery on NRG stock rom. Boot into recovery flash super wipe it will reboot then flash the rom reboot which will take about 5 to 10 mins. After it boots up I like to let it sit without touching it for 10mins reboot then set up the phone then reboot again and you should be set.

I just successfully reverted my Amaze to sufficient stock to effect the download; download was already on the device but wouldn't install. Here were my steps.
Flashed stock recovery from CWM by extracting recovery.img from firmware.zip inside the OTA update zip.Rebooted into HBOOT, entered FASTBOOT.
=> fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Attempted to apply the update from Recovery. Fail.
Initiated update from Settings | About Phone | Software updates. Update rebooted the phone...
Update complained about a mismatch in build.prop. Oops; I forgot that I'd edited it to override the "HTCLinkify" fix for Apple.
=> Edited /system/build.prop, removed ro.da1.method=enabled line, reverted ro.da1.enabled=false to true.
Rebooted.
Initiated the software update again, which it downloaded.
Started the update again, which rebooted the phone, updated without interruption, and rebooted into the new version (confirmed by popup and Settings | About phone | Software information).
=> Success.
I did not have to relock the bootloader. At this point I'd reflash recovery to CWM or TWRP again, but this was done on a phone which has a defective charging circuit, so I'm relocking the bootloader and returning it to T-Mobile.
I have a rooted Rezound running the OTA ICS. I also have Amon Ra recovery. The newest Firmware update keeps downloading. Once it does the phone shuts off and goes straight to Amon Ra which does not install new firmware. So I reboot the phone and the download process starts all over again. Is there any way to get this new firmware with having to factory reset? Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. Do you know of anyway of getting rid of the update? I would rather not have the update than flash back to stock. But my phone shutting off every few hours is pretty annoying. Thanks again.

Are you going to settings> software update> check new?
From 605.12 you should get a small OTA first then the big one after that one is done. I just did same procedure in the last week on my wife's phone.
Btw might want to be on WiFi if you aren't already for the download.
Having the same issue here as OP and been searching forums for days looking for help...
First, I'm on 605.13 already, stock ROM, rooted with Amon ra. I realize the steps I need to take but can't find any specifics.
Could someone please spell out the specifics of how to flash the stock recovery, and if I can use the 605.12 RUU to do this being on .13 already. I keep seeing others posting about just renaming a file to recovery.img and pushing using fastboot, but I'm not sure how to obtain the correct file.
Do you relock bootloader first or flash stock recovery first and the relock? BTW I'm s-on stil. Thanks in advance

For some apparent reason the 605.13 update downloaded this afternoon and the 605.14 updated. Its all set after a frustrating 2 weeks of digital torture. thanks to all that helped. I had to scour all these resources and forums to get this done but this is what worked for me. I relocked the bootloader then I used the 605.12 RRU.exe program. After about a day I checked for the updates and they downloaded and installed successfully.
Xander, since you just got this working, can you please confirm the process - I'm about to do this myself and want to verify the steps...
1) Reboot into hboot > fastboot and relock bootloader via fastboot oem lock
2) download 3.14.605.12 RUU.exe (I'm currently on 3.14.605.13)
3) Reboot phone into hboot > fastboot usb
4) run RUU.exe from PC
Is that it? Anything I'm missing here or am I on the right path?

U have step 1 and step 2 correct. Step 3 would be to connect the phone to the computer and run the 605.12 ruu.exe tool. After that u are now back to a stock phone. After the initial setup of adding your gmail account and contacts you can now go into system settings and check for update. As I stated before my phone would not download the update for some odd reason. I tried it a couple more times without success. Today on a whim I went to check for the update again and it started to download. After the small 6mb file was complete the next update for 605.14 downloaded without anny issues. Make sure you delete any zip files off your external SD card labeled ph98img.zip if u tried that method.
Step1 relock boot loader
Step2 run 3.14.605.12 ruu.exe
Step3 check for updates
Step4 unlock phone if you want to
I hope this helps anyone. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks.. Got it! And I got both the 13 and 14 updates almost immediately afterwards. I appreciate the confirmation about the process...

I'm currently using a Macbook Pro and NOT Windows PC. I rooted my Rezound March 2012 with PC at time. Well awhile back I had accidentally deleted some system files from stock gingerbread 2.3.4 ROM. Now i'm not able to update my device to ICS to make use of the global capabilities. I installed Scotts ROM 2.3.4 a copy of it but it never recovered the system files that were missing. I would like to be able to S-Off (couldn't perform wire trick) and flash either CM 10.2 (Jelly Bean 4.3) or CM 11.0 (kitkat 4.4). I've read without being on stock baseband radio (ICS) I'm not able to perform a flash to new ROM. Anyone have any suggestions to proceed further? Thanks!
Well first of all you can use rum runner from the general section to soff with out wire trick. You say that the gingerbread boot loader doesn't support fastboot?

That's exactly what I was telling pball52998 I had planned on doing. Except with mac it's difficult and without being able to get to ICS with the radio capabilities I can not go that route. I need to obtain stock gingerbread containing ALL system files including the system OTA update file I originally deleted. When i had to re-do my phone over a year ago and re-flash gingerbread because my device was messed up I was NOT able to access files that I had deleted in system. I was supposed to freeze them not uninstall originally. Unless there's an ICS unoffical ROM with all working radios and global capabilities then I'm forever stuck on Stock gingerbread. Do you understand? And using another persons PC is a no go because i have to install software ADB on their computer and I'm 100% sure they would not be ok with it at all. It's getting late here now. so goodnight to you. :good:

ADB doesn't need to be installed, you can just drop the files into a temp folder, run what you need and delete them.
As for getting your phone up to ICS, this will wipe your phone (including the Internal SD, back up anything you want off to your computer), upgrade your phone to ICS and the hboot to 2.27 which is sufficient for installing JB/KK roms.
As long as your hboot is 2.27 or older and your bootloader is locked, it should work fine, follow the directions on the page. If none of the mirrors work, Raventech has it posted in a thread here also.

I relocked the bootloader and had put the renamed PH98IMG.zip (mirror 1) file on my internal sd card. It says in Hboot image not found and will not let me boot into recovery or do a factory reset. I'm stuck! Now what do I do to proceed further?

It needs to be on your external SD then boot into your bootloader.

That's great....Well now I have to wait till after the weekend to do that when my micro sd card reader arrives in the mail. Originally i was installing it on the ext until i thought it was supposed to be on the internal sd. I have no access to the sd cards on my phone right now and cant boot past the ecover screen. Thanks for the help!

The fact you can't get to your hboot is a bigger issue. What hboot did you have installed when you locked it?

You'd need to boot into hboot to get it's version. So pulling the battery then powering on while holding volume down gets you that hboot missing error?

It automatically goes into Hboot and does not recognize any PM98IMG file. To mention the zip extention is not needed. And I put it on the internal sd therefore it can not be read properly by the device. I'll try to take a video of what i'm talking about with my ipod touch. Hold on.

Ahh, I thought you meant you couldn't get into hboot before. Can you run any adb from your mac at all? Might be able to push the file to your SD card that way.

... mods please delete, duplicate post
Here it is for everyone who has been asking for it! At&t bootable 1.58.502.1 RUU! No PC needed. This is for everyone who is having trouble with the ruu restore exe or using a mac or linux or other machine.
First off, I am NOT responsible for any thing that happens to your phone. As long as you follow instructions you should be fine, but again I am not responsible if you hard brick or anything else for that matter. If you are not comfortable with this procedure or have any questions, please ask first and not after you have destroyed your phone.
-Requirements-
1. Storage: Micro SD card required. I have heard you can use external storage for this but I have NOT confirmed this myself and do not recommend it. I have my Micro SD formatted with FAT, Not exFAT. I wouldn't think this would matter, but I have NOT verified it working from exFAT or any other format. I also recommend a descent brand sdcard as this is when you do NOT want it to fail. Your Chevron sdcard may not be the best idea.
***update*** External storage and exFAT said to be working by users in this thread.
2. CID: I have verified this restore properly working with at&t cid "CWS__001" and super cid "11111111" NO OTHER CID WILL WORK! This is ONLY for the At&t HTC One M8, NO other variant is supported.
3. Bootloader/Soff: I have my boot loader unlocked and my phone is soff, the process works perfect and does not relock boot loader nor put security back on. Since this is the non modified version of the official HTC ruu, it may work with s-on and or boot loader locked, but I have NOT tried it and do not recommend it to anyone as it has not been verified to work and I don't want any bricks out there.
***update*** s-on, said to be working by users in this thread, but you must relock your boot loader first.
4. Current firmware: I have confirmed this ruu working when coming from current 1.58.502.1 and from 2.12.401.3. I have NOT tried this coming from an Google play edition conversion.
-Instuctions-
1. Plug your phone in so there is no chance of it dying.
2. Back up anything that you need. This is an RUU and will completely wipe your phone like new. Everything will be gone including apps, contacts, pictures, music, text, recovery, etc… Again this will WIPE your phone. This will not wipe the Ext sd card.
3. Download the file that I have uploaded to Android File Hosting and verify md5 after downloading to make sure you do not have corrupt file. I have downloaded it myself and restored again just to make sure upload process went well. Again, verify your file. If you do not know how to check md5 simply google it. Please do not ask questions like this in this thread.
4. Simply move the "0p6bimg.zip" to the ROOT of your EXT micro sd card.
5. Boot to your boot loader. There are many ways to get to your boot loader. A lot of custom roms have it built into the restart menu. If you have usb debugging enabled its just "adb reboot bootloader" If you can't get there with one of these methods, simply make sure phone is on, hold vol up and power for 11 seconds until screen shuts off, let go and hold vol down and power until boot loader comes up. "about 4 seconds"
6. Click HBOOT in your boot loader. Your phone will automatically scan the file and ask if you want to update. Hit vol up for yes or vol down for no.
7. Phone will begin RUU restore. You can watch what it does on the screen as it will go through a list and bypasses are normal. It will reboot boot loader and you can watch progress bars in the top right corner. It goes through a TON of them so do NOT turn off phone for any reason and let it finish. The process takes about 15 minutes give or take. Once it is done, it will say complete, press power to reboot. Again do not power off phone or even touch it for that matter during this process.
Enjoy! This is a great file to keep on your phone in case you need a restore on the run or anything. If anyone tries any of the methods that I have said have not been verified and have success such as coming back from google play edition, locked boot loader, s-on, please let me know if they worked and I will change this post. Again I do NOT recommend these!
Please click my thanks button if this has helped you out. Thanks to Android File Host for hosting it too.

Attempting this now... will edit in an update. Thx
Worked like a charm. I'll edit in any issues i find.
EDIT: Only issue i'm having is that I can't update Google apps or ATT apps.
Reflashing stock recovery seemed to fix the issue for me.

That's just Google play services being outdated. Reboot usually fixes that with any Rom. Recovery has nothing to do with installing apps.

I tried rebooting, clearing data and cache and the wifi off on method. None of them worked. After about 10 attempts I tried to boot into recovery to wipe cache but it failed. So I loaded stock recovery back on.
Nothing to see here...

You are mistaken. Please check again and edit your post. It's a shame that I spent a good bit of my time getting this up for everyone and the first few posts read that someone whom has 4 posts can't update their apps and somehow think flashing recovery can make a difference and you say it is a Verizon ruu. This is just the Rom.zip stripped from the official AT&T ruu. Nothing has been altered. You have your files mixed up.

if i patched my current hboot to disguise "Tampered" and "Relocked" should i reverse it before flashing this? I cannot find the post anywhere, but i recall reading on one or more threads that this was a requirement to flash a new firmware. By the way, i have an at&t M8, bootloader unlocked, s-off with a CWS__001 CID. thanks in advance for replies to my question.

just wondering if anyone tired this coming from GPE conversion.
first off I want to thank the OP for this. I was updating (or rather reverting back) to stock with the RUU from the HTC site. When it got to step 2/7 at 66% I lost power and poof.. after this all I could do was get to bootloader and fastboot. Being that I could get to those I knew that I wasn't hard bricked...yet... whew. I tried re-running that RUU but no luck. I then went into fast boot and flashed a rcovery image and then booted into recovery and tried to restore a nand backup.. No go on that. So finally I downloaded this and put on the root of my external card and this worked...
THANK YOU!!!:good::good:

Ok, so I've trying to get my phone back in working condition (see this thread for details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...k-recovery-t3163848/post62009104#post62009104). It looks like I will have to flash an RUU but I'm worried about bricking my phone since it is S-On. What is the best way to do this?
Update: I downloaded the RUU, renamed it to 0PJAIMG, put in on an external sd card, and went into download mode but nothing is happening. Bottom of the screen says "Security checking failed NOT_FIND_SMART IO, SD NOT MOUNTED".
If you're S-ON, you should be able to lock your bootloader and run the RUU from a computer.

Sounds promising. Would these commands do that?
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip your_zip_name.zip (the name of the stock ROM zip I downloaded downloaded)
fastboot reboot
Is there anything else I should be aware of before I launch those commands?

1st of all, do you have the Sprint M9? the thread u mentioned is the INTL M9, this thread is Sprint M9..
*edit* I see u said in that thread u have sprint...
which specific RUU are u trying to flash? if it is a exe RUU, you need to connect M9 to pc & run exe from pc
*edit* if u have a pc, use this RUU http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...IMA_SPCS_1.11_003_release_437681_signed_2.exe
if u don't have a pc, use this RUU, https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347768322
Rename to 0PJAIMG.zip, copy to sd card, boot into download mode, it should scan card & prompt to install
my advice, stay out of the International M9 forums...just gonna get your phone hosed up!

I was trying to flash the 1.32.651.30 since that's the current version on my phone. The version you posted for pc looks like its for 2.6.651.11. Is that okay to use, no risk of bricking?
Update: I tried the executable and it worked! Phone is back up and running with the latest version. THANK YOU!
I have another question though. I have a twrp backup from before my phone went stupid. Is it possible to recovery my app data or anything from that?

You can use Titanium Backup and selectively restore App Data (for specific apps) from a full nandroid TWRP backup. I've been doing this a while and it works great. It's slow, but it works perfect.
I just restore a few select app data that are tedious or complex to setup, I do this after Google restores all the apps (which are fresh installs from the play store).
What's nice about this method is one backup serves both purposes. A full image backup I can restore from, or for upgrades that I want to start fresh and only restore data from a few non system apps.
