Hello XDA
I'am in dire need of your help and expertise. Last wednesday my LG G2 had a problem with its clock, and I have a feeling that it somehow conflicted with ingoing/outgoing messages - Is that even possible?
My real problem is that troughout wed-friday I had troubles recieving and sending SMS, or so I thought. 1 SMS that was sent to me on wednesday arrived friday and that it when I noticed that something was wrong. Afterwards every message I sent was almost instantly disappeared from my message app but my contact recieved the SMS even though. Also any incomming SMS would display in the notification bar and the dropdown function android has, but when I opened the SMS to the message viewer the SMS would disappear almost instantly before I could have a chance to read it through.I have a feelling the it is not deleted and stil resides somewhere within my phone. Can you help me find it or somehow restore it if that what takes?
Side note:
I've heard that you can use various android SMS recovery tools, but that should - correct me if I'am wrong - require a root of your phone. But if I root my LG G2, wouldnt the phone reset and the data get whiped along with my SMS ?
Thanks in advance.
Try using SMS backup and restore by ritesh sahu from google play store.
Aur backup ready the phone and then restore

Hey Everyone,
Wanting to flash a new ROM but hate losing my call history and text msg logs. I know it has to be possible to save them to my computer and reload once the new ROM is updated.
So can you help tell me where they are saved in the phone so I can export them.
I am currently using xtrSENSE4.6.5 & using the basic msg program included in the ROM.
Thanks

There are a couple of apps in the market - SMS Backup & Restore and Call Logs Backup & Restore - same developer - that will let you backup and restore texts and call logs across ROMs. The backups are saved to your SD card. The only issue is that the SMS app will not restore MMS messages, but if that's not an issue, this works well.
If it is an issue, there is another pseudo solution (which I actually like more.) SMS Backup+ will backup SMS and MMS messages to a label in your gmail account (by default it is a label called "SMS") and can also store call logs in a label as well (I believe that the label is "Call logs" by default). This can also restore from gmail to a new ROM. It also cannot restore MMS messages, but they will be stored in your Gmail account for reference if you need them. The cool thing about this app is that it runs a backup every time a message is received, or every hour for messages that you send (though if you send and then get a reply the reply will kick off a backup that will grab the one that you sent.) SMS Backup+ can also create a calendar entry in a calendar of your choice for calls (both made and received) if that is helpful.
Just don't make any major drug deals while running that app...lol

Hello, I use go SMS pro on my galaxy s3 and had sent in the region of 7000 to my partner since I've had the phone. I had turned on the auto delete function and everything was working fine until tonight where I realised I only had 232 messages in the specific thread. I am worried because I generally keep my messages and there was some important information in them that I don't want to loose. When I go into my messages app the number is still at 232.
Can anyone help please.
Guys I need a little help here... I have Motorola RAZR MAXX with some of little problem with SMS conversations.
Before we start, here the basic info.. I have thousand of messages stored since owned an Android phone (now 18,500 messages), I'm using Galaxy Gio and right now RAZR, and never delete any SMS archive since using Galaxy Gio and migrate them to RAZR. After a year with RAZR, I'm using SMS Backup and Restore app to backup SMS archives.
And 3 months ago, SMS Backup and Restore App got some problem with "null" error which is I didn't understand and still no answer from the developer. Last week I flashed my RAZR with official JB ROM with RSD Lite and failed when I wanna restore SMS archive with normal method (one by one - forget the app) and with App Extractor done in seconds (copy the XML database and restart).
After all of that, last night almost half of my SMS conversation gone.. from 512 sms conversation became 320 conversations, I have to restore it again from the SMS Backup and Restore App but every time after restore seems my phone CPU usage gone high (60%), I think it's rebuilding the SMS database but for how long..? already 20 minutes.
Any solution or hint to fix this..? Any question for additional info are welcome...
sorry if my English were bad...
Did you check your message settings.
It might have deleted old messages.
Hit thanks.
nope.. everything is configured nothing will be deleted.. I'm just curious my RAZR cannot receive any sms when the stock sms app got frozen.

Hey guys, I was hoping you might be able to help me with a problem I've been having.
I have an HTC One, stock rom with custom launcher/home screen.etc, and I am trying to manage a very large volume of sms (50,000+).
When I first got this phone, I never told it to delete old messages as I liked to create backups. However, now the phone is just too bogged down as a result of all these messages.
I would like to have the phone start deleting messages once they get above a certain number. So to do this, I created a backup of all the SMS messages using the HTC stock messaging app as well as the SMS backup+ app. I then deleted all the messages, and used the stock SMS restore feature with the "delete old messages" option selected under the settings.
The problem is this thing has been running for 6 hours now, and I am not sure it is getting anywhere. How would you guys handle this situation?
Thanks for your help!
Hi,
A friend of mine recently came into possession of a "maimed" S4. We are able to fix this, however, the data on the phone is incredibly important, more specifically, the text messages. It is critical that we recover them. The phone is not rooted.
My questions are:
1) Can we recover the messages without root through some computer software or application?
2) If we install some sort of application, do you think it will over-write the deleted text message data (We know that it stays on the device until overwritten)?
3) If we attach the phone via usb to a computer and set it to "usb mass storage," will that prevent data from being lost if we need to install an application?
Thank you in advance!
Anyone?
There is no way, that I am aware of, to recover deleted text messages. There might be a way If rooted. Good luck with your endeavor!

You are taking data recovery. Expensive, if you have someone do it. If you are using something like Verizon messages, simply put another phone on the line/number, and tell it to sync your old texts. This will only work if the texts have not been deleted. Good luck! I do not use Verizon messages but I use the app to sync my texts when I change phones.
