Bricked, got factory cable, and usb device to show. What now? - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Okay, so I finally managed to solder a working factory cable, and the ot a response from my Kindle Fire HDX 7" (as far as usb is concerned);
Here is the state my HDX is in: If i hold power for 16 seconds, it will start to boot, show the all grey "kindle fire" logo, then the screen turns off.
If I turn it on with the Volume+ button pressed, I get to stock recovery. No amount of factory reset and rebooting will do any good here.
In both cases above, I will get nothing at all on USB when plugged to a computer. No message about it even being plugged in on dmesg.
When I plug in the factory cable, I get a reponse, but a lot of "new high-speed USB device, device descriptor read/64, error -110".
Now here is the interesting part, when I hold power with the factory cable plugged, the device is recognized! Logs will be at the end.
The problem here is I can't get fastboot to show devices. I tried the following:
fastboot devices
fastboot -i 0x1949 devices
fastboot -i 0x05c6 devices
fastboot -s 0 devices
fastboot -s ttyUSB0 devices
fastboot -s /dev/ttyUSB0 devices
And get nothing. I think I am on the right track to getting it to work again, but I'm at a loss about what to do next.
I'm willing to try anything as long as it doesn't involve screwdrivers and/or snakes!
Here is the log from dmesg:
Code:

How about adb devices. Is that working. If so that could help. My brick Kindle went totally dead on me. Won't power on at all even plugged in. Not even the grey Kindle shows up.

Nope, nothing on adb devices either. And my Kindle stopped responding completely. I'm afraid the factory cable burned something, but if yours is dead as well, that could be the battery going dead. Maybe the bootloader won't boot far enought to let the battery charge. Did your stop showing the grey kindle by itself?

Good news AC!
Keep us posted!

I'm able to get adb recognized but not fastboot. Been searching for fastboot drivers with no luck.
Mine acts like it wants to boot up but then I get fooled and try to unlock it real quick with no luck.
It's teasing me.

I was not able to recover. But there is another thread in the forum that does show how to get the device to be properly recognized and possible recovery.

Do you have idea of what make your kindle become un-recoverable? I've done factory reset after my kindle is bricked. Do you think this would make the recover hopeless?

[Q] CDC ACM device

Hello everybody,
please my question is very simple.
Can I use CDC device (USB-SPI converter by Microchip) with GT7500?
The device uses CDC ACM drviers. When I plug in to my computer I see ttyACM0 is created in /dev/ folder.
If I connect device to GT7500 throw USB Adapter dmesg inform me about Device not supported (dmesg short report in bellow). But if I look to .config i see is CDC ACM driver is inculded.
If plug device to my second tabled WM8650 everything is OK. /dev/ttyACM0 is created and accessed from app.
Thanks for any answer.

[Q] Modem resetting?

I am having a similar issue as discussed in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2080956&page=3. I'm stock rooted, software version E97010o.
Does anyone else still experience this problem? Sometimes it happens with the phone sitting on my desk or when I'm traveling. I initially thought it was a poor hand off from "4G" and LTE, but I can seem to trigger it repeatedly when using Google Maps and having it try to lock on my position using GPS. Looking at the log, it says the modem is resetting but it's not giving a reason why. I copied the log while it was happening repeatedly.

It doesn't happen all the time, but most of the time when using Maps. Sometimes it recovers and lets me use Maps without an issue but other times the only way to fix it is to reboot. Thankfully the reboot time of this phone is quick, so it's not too much of a hassle. This seems like a software problem as mentioned in the thread I referenced earlier. To those that are using other ROMs, do you experience this issue?
Thanks for any insight.

No one can help me out with this? Can someone who is running another ROM please check if using Google Maps or any app that uses the GPS causes the modem to reset? I want to know what's the next steps I should take, be it flash a different ROM if no one experiences this or take the phone to at&t for an exchange.
Thanks.

[Q] APX driver installation fails

Edit: Oh well now I feel stupid. I guess driver signature enforcement isn't permanent - you have to do it when you want to install a driver.
Hi there,
I was following this guide: androidroot.mobi/pages/guides/tegra3-guide-nvflash-jellybean
but I'm stuck at the APX part, I can't install the driver. why do you hate me windows??
This is on windows 8 64bit, using Universal_Naked_Driver_0.72. Are there any other drivers?
Error message: "The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering."
Screenshot: see attached file
I have disabled driver signature enforcement..
Tried on linux as well but can't even get it properly connected. Here's what i see in dmesg:
[ 659.822881] usb 2-1.7: new high-speed USB device number 15 using ehci_hcd

Not sure what to try now, any suggestions are appreciated!
You have to disable signature something.... Driver signature... Windows thing... Im still stuck...
I had same problem on windows 8.1 64bit ....would not load drivers even with the signature thingy you say ...forgot what its called now lol .
In the end i used my laptop running vista and worked first time ....if you can try a different pc with a different os .
Karl
P.s dont forget to hold volume up key when powering up to get into APX mode

Question N200 usb connection loop when in 'fastbootd' mode

I can connect to the phone no problem in fastboot mode, but in fastbootd mode I can see it constantly connecting and disconnecting in dmesg.
I've added spaces in the output below so it's easier to read. What the heck is going on? I can't move to flashing DE2117 if I can't get it to stay connected.

Fair suggestion. Just tried, 3 different cables in 3 different ports; one front port, 2 back ports (one from each 'stack').
Going to try my mint laptop, see if cycles the connection there too...
The bahvior is the same on the mint laptop. It's an HP 11th gen intel, my main is a 7th gen. Totally different chipsets, that's why I mention it. Probably a similar driver, but I cant think why that would matter. Mint isnt doing anything special with USB, so I assume the OS really isnt to blame. :/

Oh well, I guess you'll have to just search for a solution. Sorry I couldn't find a solution.
